Ruined Kingdom #1

Ihre Gefangene

Loyalty. Duty. Deceit.

I never imagined my first trip to Italy would be to bury my father.

But there I stood, alone in the ancient cathedral with my father’s casket, a handful of soldiers standing guard.

It never occurred to me that anyone would disrupt the sanctity of the moment.

But the Caballero brothers have little regard for the church and even less for my family. They marched in weapons in hand and turned my world upside down.

They shattered what peace I had.
They desecrated my father’s body.
And they took what they wanted. Me.

I’m a princess in a tower in a breathtaking villa.
My bedroom overlooks the turquoise sea but the door is locked.

And I have to contend with not one but two dragons.

I've been looking for a good MFM romance for a while now, so when one caught my eye with mafia thrown in the mix, there was no way I wasn't going to try it! Thankfully, that turned out to be a great decision. I finished Ruined Kingdom in one sitting, and I can't wait for more!

Amadeo and Bastian Caballero are two sexy, powerful brothers driven by revenge. After their family was destroyed by the villainous Russo family, they vowed to wipe their foes off the face of the earth. Everything they do in life is with that primary objective in mind.

When the father of the Russo family is murdered, Amadeo and Bastian kick off their payback by successfully kidnapping the Russo family patriarch's daughter, Vittoria, at his funeral and desecrating his body, leaving them one step closer to their ultimate goal. However, their multi-tiered plan does not include falling for said daughter/sister of the men that scarred them, destroyed their family, and murdered their sister, but you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men? They often go awry!

Ruined Kingdom by Natasha Knight is a fantastic start to a delicious MFM duet! The chemistry between Vittoria and the Caballero brothers is insane right from the beginning. I love that each brother has a different dynamic with Vittoria and level of resistance to their attraction towards her. When Amadeo and Bastian are with Vittoria individually, the sexual tension is intense, but when they decide to play with her together, get your fan and your water bottle ready, because that shit is hot af!

MFM fans, this one's for you!!

Being who the author is and mafia is her jam I expected a wee bit more darkness between the pages, though she didn’t disappoint with her cliffy making me crave the next one.

I wonder who you will hate more, me or yourself, when you lie beneath me. When you beg for release.”
“I will never beg you.”
He draws back, bringing his forehead to mine, our eyes locked. “Won’t you?”

It's official, Natasha Knight is simply not capable of writing a book that I won't obsess over and make my entire personality. And now she served us with some mafia MFM goodness that combines a fierce heroine, captive trope, forced proximity, and all of the hate lust. And this girl? I was SO HERE FOR IT.
You’re going to be our little fuck toy. A perk. Do you understand that, Dandelion? Because that’s all you are. A weed. Something to be trampled on without a thought and eventually plucked out of existence entirely.”

Vittoria Russo is the beloved daughter of a now deceased mafia boss, who gets caught in the crosshairs of a revenge years in the making that was set in motion by her father and brother. Bastian and Amadeo are brothers who will stop at nothing to make the Russo family pay for the sins of their past that cost their family everything. Ruthless, cold, calculating, nothing is beneath their vengeance. Even kidnapping the Russo daughter during her father's funeral and forcing her to marry one of them, willing or not.

This was such a ride. Like most Natasha series, the romance is very much a slow burn, with bits and pieces of sizzling hate lust and unwilling attraction. Vittoria fights the Caballero brothers at every step. She's a fighter through and through, even when all the odds are stacked against her. I loved her so much. She gave as good as she got, and this is a woman who got a lot. The brothers are cruel and vicious, but there's an undercurrent of lust that gives it a crackle. Though there was a bit of a misbalance because Bastian fought the attraction at every turn while Amadeo freely gave into it. And then there was that cliffhanger!!! MOTHER OF GAWD. Thank god the wait for book two isn't long or else I would have thrown hands.

Me gaslighting myself into thinking that I was really scandalized and not at all experiencing vicarious embarrassment for Vittoria (h) when Amadeo (H) asked her to show her pussy to his brother Bastian (H)? and exposed her boobies to him.

Bastian drags his gaze to my breasts, then back to his brother. There’s a silent exchange I don’t understand.

“Now show him your pussy,” Amadeo tells me, releasing my wrists.

I glance nervously up at him.

“Do it. Move your suit over so he can see your pussy.”

I don’t often find myself in this situation but this time I went into this book with an open heart and mind as open as Vittoria’s pussy because Ms. Natasha Knight can never do any wrong. Yes, I would happily become a hypocrite and a fake lover of MFM romance for my favorite author. What of it?

Tropes:

🫦MFM

🫦Enemies to lovers

🫦Forced marriage

🫦Age gap (Amadeo is 30, Bastian 25 and Vittoria 20)

🫦Forced proximity

🫦Mafia romance

After 15 years of waiting the brothers finally see an opening to put their revenge into action when Vittoria’s father—the man who left them scarred and destroyed their family—dies a sudden death. The brothers intercept his funeral, desecrate his corpse in front of his daughter and kidnap her to begin their sex fest revenge.

Now the brothers revenge plan entailed forcing Vittoria to marry Amadeo and deceiving her into signing her inheritance over to them, soo they could leave her high and dry in the end. But what they didn’t expect was leaving her high and wet.

This is your typical mafia romance where the hero (or heroes in this case) take the daughter of their enemy hostage in the name of vengeance but end up falling for her. This is the kind of book you read just for the romance and not for the logic or plot because both are 80% of the time missing.

But Ruined Kingdom was different in a sense that Vittioria had to contend with two enemies who would readily fuck here use her in every depraved way possible to reap their revenge. I was hoping that this would be more like a love triangle then Amadeo and Bastian lasciviously double-penetrating (🫦😂) Vittoria (which didn’t happen btw) Butttttt I wasn’t as disgusted as I thought I would be when they each took their turn with her.

“Answer my brother’s question.” I stretch her arms over her head and lean close. “Have you ever been fucked by two men at once?” I ask. Brushing my jaw over her cheek, I bring my mouth to her ear. “Given the look on your face, I’m going to guess no. So maybe what we should ask is if you’re turned on by the idea.” “I would never… I… you…” “What is the expression, the lady doth protest too much?” Bastian chimes in.

It was soooo comical the way Bastian would become all sulky when Amadeo did anything remotely sexual with Vittoria, and Amadeo had to give him meaningless reassurances that she was both of theirs, like some children sharing candies. Amongst all the mafia and revenge talks, fighting over pussy should have been the least of their concerns. They legit acted like two hormonal teenage boys instead of men who were out to wreak havoc on the rapist of their sister.

“I saw how you looked at her. How you held her.” I take a breath. “It’s fine, brother. I get it. Spoils of war go to the king.” I shove past him, but he slaps a hand on my chest. “What? I’m fucking tired.” “I did what I had to do. You know that.” “Hardship though it was. You say she’s ours. Let me ask you this. If I were to go up there and take what is ours to my bed, how would you feel about it?” He sets his jaw, and I snort. “Thought so.”

I would just once love to read a mafia romance book where the hero is TRULY a vicious man (you know where he actually rapes, beats, starves the heroine) instead of falling into insta-lust with her. I want to feel as his bristling hate turns into love. What I wouldn’t give to read a book like that👺👺👺

Many thanks to the author for giving me an arc of the book.

It’s a really good reading. This author knows how to tell a story.
But…
I prefer a relationship between 2 people, because with a third person involved it’s a trouble for sure.
Will see…
It’s worth the reading.

O.M.G 🤯🤯
She did it once again!!
I was totally hooked with this story, and so involved with it i can’t stop thinking about it!! I need the second book now!!

I have to be honest: love triangles are not my cup of tea, so I was worried about the relationship the three characters may have had.
But the relationship between Vittoria, Amadeo and Bastian is nothing like that. Their bond is kinda unique and hard to explain. Honestly i have no idea how it will end...
I want them all together 😅😍😏😂

And for the first time it's hard for me as well choosing between those two men. They are intense but in a different way: Amadeo is ice, while Bastian is fire. Both lethal, and rough, but deeply scarred on the inside. The love they carry for each other evident. Vengeance is what they want because it's the only thing they can do to right the wrong their family suffered.
And then there's Vittoria: beautiful, smart, and so brave. And just as broken as the Caballero brothers.
A pawn in their game, who could instead be something more....

At the beginning the story could have seemed pretty simple and easy to understand; however as i went on with the reading, secrets start to unfold  and now I don’t really know what's gonna come.
But i'm all in for it!!

DNF I expected so much more from this author and this book due to the ratings.

It turned out to be another female victim of another revenge trope whereas the MFC is guilty by association, and her brother (the perpetrator) remains free. Are the men in these books just too afraid of going after the real person who deserves their revenge? There is many ways this story could have gone that would have made it unique and original.

This story has been done too many times to be interesting or intriguing; it's just read and repeat with new characters and new reasons for revenge. The least likely female character is always their target instead of the actual person who is responsible. The two MMC's were as.....holes (they usually are) and the book was too predictable. I have read many good stories from this genre with dark evil characters, but these characters didn't seem well developed or capable of succeeding in their plans. They ignored the biggest RED FLAG in this story, being their Uncle, while focusing their evil upon Victoria.

I will continue to look for stories in this genre that are "unique and original".

If you are a new reader to this genre, you probably will enjoy this duet. If you are an avid reader of this genre, and have read your share of revenge tropes, I would suggest a pass on this duet.

Unexpected, dynamic, and utterly addictive- yet another deliciously dark and complicated mafia tale of revenge and romance from the dark mafia queen! I was so excited to get my hands on a MFM story from one of my favorite authors, and Ruined Kingdom does not disappoint. This story has all of the epic tension, dangerous secrets, ruthless twists, and mesmerizing chemistry that I've come to expect from a Natasha Knight romance...times two! With a dynamic I've not read from her before, a heroine with unexpected brass, and two delectably dangerous brothers, this one has me ravenous for more! The beginning started a bit slower than I'm used to for Natasha- a lot of tension and hatred, a lot of metacognitive angst, BUT the crescendo in the end was worth it, and I was ravenous for these three by the end. I love the contrast in the brothers' journeys, and I love that our heroine is both at their mercy and has some steel to her. That cliffhanger ending though- WTFFFFFFFFF! Need book 2 now!

This was a solid 3.8 read for me. I really felt like I read this story before tho. The twist would be the double action, which doesn't happen in this book really. But will be more of a focus for book 2.
Pretty dark mafia read.

That ending, wow…

Family, revenge, mafia. I’m at the front of that line! I couldn’t wait to dive into the latest tension-filled romance from one of my favourite authors. Revenge was their motive and the woman who was going to provide it was squarely between them…

Secrets. Enemies. Memories. They swirled around these characters and caused each step in this no quiet moment romance. It was a love story. Of family taken violently and without remorse. The brothers plotted and schemed with their hearts safe from the woman who was only a means to an end. What they found was a woman who not only had them on shaky ground, but almost rethinking their plan…

Amadeo, Bastian and Vittoria were part of a dance that swept them up and, hopefully, would not consume them. The relationship they had, with the three equal parts to the circle, was plagued with uncertainty and so much heat. Oh the heat with searing tension amping higher and higher until…
That ending. OMG, that ending! Yeah, I NEED the next book – yesterday! ~Diane, 4.5 stars

***4,25 "Dandelion girl!!!" stars***

"I'm a princess in a tower. And I have to contend with not one but two dragons."

And now I'm dying to get my hands on the second part of this complicated and very intense story!!!
The truth is that I am not very fond of love triangles, but I loved the way that the Caballero brothers were with Vittoria...
All have started because of vengeance, but these three got tangled into matters of heart and I was drown to their story and I feel so excited to see where the author will lead us after all!!!

"When you have nothing to lose, you are willing to risk everything."

Vittoria is taking a trip to Italy to bury her father, but while attending his funarel, two men are taking her away from the life she knew!!!
The Caballero brothers are out for revenge and what a better way to start it by taking the daughter of their enemy!!!
The Russo family will pay for its sins and Vittoria Russo is the perfect pawn in their games...
But what will happen when what had started as a means to an end becomes something so much more???

"I had one goal in mind for as long as I can remember. Vengeance. Make the Russo family pay."

I loved Vittoria, Amadeo and Bastian...
The dynamic between them was incredible and the intensity between all of them was out of charts!!!
I liked that the brothers were so tight between them and I liked that they weren't similar... Amadeo was pure fire and Bastian was icy, but they were complementing each other so much!!!
Poor Vittoria didn't stand a chance with them!!!

"We're going to enjoy you, Dandelion. And you're going to enjoy us and hate yourself every single time you come for us."

Vittoria was an amazing creature and I loved how she was holding her own in front of the men who wanted to ruin her... But she never imagined that they will ruin also her heart and make her beat wildly...
It feels so wrong to want them both, but it feels right when she is on their presence...
But where this unbelievable story will lead her after all???

"No matter what I may want or what I may tell myself, I'm attracted to this man. To both of the brothers."

Another one ride from Ms. Knight that I enjoyed very much!!!
Intense and full of bumps... With many uncovered secrets that needs to be answered... and that ending that gave me chills!!!
I really need to see what will happen anext!!! I just need more of Amadeo, Vittoria and Bastian!!! I love being a witness of their falling and I am sure that this fall will be epic!!!

"Maybe we're not the monsters you make us out to be, Dandelion."

Having the duet in my library ,it’s high time i read Ruined Kingdom.
And knowing Natasha Knight,i was prepared for a rollercoaster ride.
What i got was só much more, though….
A history between Vittoria,Amadeo and Bastian that ensures they fight eachother throughout.
But not just because they hate eachother…..because there’s an attraction between them from the start.
If that was all to this story, the men getting revenge for what happened in the past, that would already make it a great story.
But Natasha adds more layers to it….layers that make it even better.
And if you will excuse me,i now have to get started on Broken Queen.
Because that cliffhanger is killing me!!

Another Natasha Knight “holy mother of *blink*, someone take this wheel” dark mafia romance! I honestly cannot get enough of this woman’s work! I AM OBSESSED! AND, color me surprise (in all the delicious ways you can think of) when I realize she was giving us MFM goodness! I should probably read blurbs more often! LOL

Sidebar: I laughed like a LUNATIC when I first read Bastian & Amadeo’s last name because >>> wait for it … Spanish for knight or gentleman … I mean … Well played! (now I’m laughing again)

Sidebar II: What the ever loving #fuckery was that cliffhanger?! Ya’ll, I might need a little Jesus after Broken Queen if that cliffy is anything to go on!!

All sidebars aside, I am really loving this suspenseful, slow-burn, push/pull sizzle Bastian, Vittoria & Amadeo have going on right now. The tension that fuels the storyline had me reading in one swoop and to be honest, when I was reading the last chapter, I didn’t even realize it was the last chapter. That’s how captivated I was about everything that was happening. This duet might just make my #2022TopReads reads!

I knew it was going to end in a cliffhanger, but that one, that was a doozy!!! This book has left me with my heart-pounding and my brain racing. No surprise there, I was in that state for most of the story. These three, so seemingly in control, so spiralling out of control, and having no idea how to handle that situation. And the heat, oh wow, it was insane how much chemistry zinged around when any of these three got in the same atmosphere of each other. One brother, or both, things were always sizzling for Vittoria. Completely and absolutely invested in these characters and cannot wait to get part two and the conclusion of their story <3

A trip to bury her father in Italy turned out very differently then what Vittoria Russo thought. All because of the Caballero brothers. Amadeo Del Campo Caballero and his brother, Bastian, have waited a long time to exact their revenge on what the Russo family did to them. That perfect time starts when the Russo princess, Vittoria, comes to Italy. When children are the pawns in their families dealings, can you ever come out unscathed? Wow, does this take off at full speed and makes you need more with each turn of the page. “…When you have nothing to lose, you are willing to risk everything.” I thoroughly enjoyed these characters and the storyline. Amadeo, Bastian & Vittoria’s encounters were love/hate at it’s finest. She is a feisty one and I’m here for it! This is a very dark MFM romance with a major cliffhanger so be warned. Get ready for this mafia vengeance romance surely ready to have you fanning yourself! Told in multiple POV

Dark, twisted and captivating! Natasha Knight is delivering another addictive story, that had kept me breathless until the last pages.

Ruined Kingdom is something that I didn't see coming. I knew it will be love triangle, but the dynamic between 3 lovers here, is absolutely something else. The whole story is very intense, not only because emotions and steam. This time Natasha serving us new kind of relationship, where love, hate, revenge, passion and pain are mixed together like they destined to exist together until the end of the world. Vittoria, Amadeo and Bastian are broken, but being born in cruel mafia world can't be any different. Past and present times are blending together, showing that everything is not like they expect, it should be.

The way, how author created the whole story, revealing step by step all the ugly secrets in these families is captivating. I couldn't put this book down not even for one second, and I'm so, so eager for Ruined Queen. All the truths and lies are meant to be broken and I cannot wait to read conclusion of this story.

Ruined Kingdom by Natasha Knight
Vittoria has always idolized her father and when he died, she wanted to respect his last wish of being buried in Italy. At the funeral, she is kidnapped by the ruthless Caballero brothers. The brothers have a vendetta against her family and their hate has festered over a period of time.

Vittoria evokes feelings in both brothers, and in return, this causes unease and tension between them. Amadeo is forcing Vittoria into an agreement, but not all is as it seems. Vittoria will honor the arrangement as long as Amadeo lives up to his promise and brings her the one person who means the world to her. She now belongs to them. Vittoria is strong and sassy, giving as good as she gets, some time to her own detriment. Amadeo can’t help the attraction he feels toward her, even though he is putting on a show for his younger brother and promising that she belongs to both of them, to do what they want with her. Bastian watches his brother while feeling jealous and angry. He wants Vittoria, but is it a matter of wanting to hate, wanting to hurt, or wanting to desire? Bastian is the more hot-headed out of the two brothers, but when Emma arrives we see a different side to him. Vittoria vows to have her revenge on the brothers, but she cants help the desire her body feels towards them, and she can’t stop what they want.
But is she just a toy, ready to be disposed of once they have their fill? This one ends on a cliffhanger and you will be left holding your breath. Ms. Knight knows how to plot a good story, and add the mafia to it, and it is bound to be a winner. I felt for poor Vittoria and you just know she has lived through something before all of this. As for Amadeo and Bastian, one moment you love them, the next you despise them. While their plan is forming, you have that uneasy feeling that something is going to go horribly wrong and it does. Overall a good story, it just maybe had a tad too much whisky being consumed, but otherwise, it kept me entertained and clicking the pages. Bring on book two because I need to know what happens.

Vittoria is in Italy because of her father's wishes to be buried in that country, despite the fact that it's probably not the best idea. Turns out she's kidnapped from said funeral by Amedeo & Bastian who want revenge against her family. This is the one area that sets me off with mafia books, the female collateral damage, and these brothers really set me off more than once throughout. It's safe to say that I really don't love either of them at this point, and yet, like a car wreck, I can't look away (or move from one position until every last page was devoured). Luckily, there were a ton of twists coming in hot which did bring it back up to 5 stars because I'm completely ALL IN! I've been reading this author for a cool minute now, so I'm quite versed in the fact that there will be something that changes my opinion of the brothers going forward (or at least Amedeo). Not to mention that cliffhanger was next level brutal & I'm dying inside at this point. So yeah, at the end of the day, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Two brothers. Will they share?

Classic mafia revenge in the case of the daughter, heroine Vittoria, suffering the sins of the father -- and he was a terror, except not to her. Amadeo and Bastian take Vittoria to claim their retribution against her family, Vittoria's remaining family member, her brother. But, of course, as the main characters' relationship ensues, all is not as it seems.

This was a slow burn, a little too much for my tastes, as their interactions, like vignettes played most of the story. Add that to a heroine who wasn't exactly of my liking, a bit of a shrew and unattractively feisty. She had a favorite word she used for the guys, and she used it often. Despite those, Amadeo and Bastian were appealing especially as they secretly liked Vittoria, one more sympathetic and taken, and the other fighting his misplaced hate and personal guilt. I loved the rapport between Vittoria's sister having selective mutism and Bastian. I was taken with this mafia story by 70% and know book two is going to disclose some moving reveals.

Sexual tension was electric, especially considering two men. Spice was good (2/5) when it hit, and I suspect will grow in book two, particularly with these two hot brothers.

Overall, a good read.

Ruined Kingdom by Natasha Knight is the First book in the Ruined Kingdom Duet. This starts the story of Vittoria Russo, Amadeo and Bastian Caballero. Vittoria is a Mafia Princes who has return to attend her father's funeral. Amadeo and Bastian want revenge on the Russo family which has lead them to Vittoria. This book started with a bang for me and just kept going. Now I just need the next book to see what happens next. Enjoying this Duet and I do recommend it.

Ruined Kingdom is book one of the Ruined Kingdom duet by Natasha Knight. This is a dark and twisted story of revenge that played out between Vittoria and two brothers wronged by her father. When Vittoria's father dies suddenly, she chooses to fulfill his wishes to be buried in Italy where she gets kidnapped by Amadeo and Bastiano. There's a lot of tension, both between Vittoria and the brothers and the brothers themselves. While both brothers struggle with unexpected feelings Vittoria evokes in them, one is a lot more conflicted and volatile. Vittoria herself appears to harbor secrets of her own. I really enjoyed the dynamics between the three characters and am very curious to see how this all plays out since it's supposed to be an MFM romance. There's a brutal cliffy, but book two isn't far away. The reason the book lost a star for me was the overabundance of body betrayal. It was there pretty much every time we had an intimate scene between Vittoria and the brothers. I would have wanted some more real fight from Vittoria, but this is just a minor complaint. Overall, I really enjoyed the beginning of this story and can't wait for its conclusion!

Gahhh! Natasha Knight has done it again and again. Ruined Kingdom has ruined my mood with the cruel cliffhanger that has left me in knots. To be honest, RK is a brilliant and unique mafia romance with a surprising plot. It is quite dark and traumatizing but that’s what sets it apart from other mafia romances. There are quite a few secrets and betrayals that spin one’s head and keep you on your toes but the juiciest part is that of the forbidden/taboo factor of two brothers sharing one woman. A woman they both hate and lust! Be sure to read it at home when all the family members are far, far away from you 😉. Finally, I hope the next part of the duet is released as soon as possible cause I really don’t want to be away from the gorgeous alpha brothers Bastian and Amadeo too long🙏🏻.
