A Summer on Bellevue Avenue is the latest in the Romance at the Gilded Age Resorts series of standalone titles. It’s also the first by Lorri Dudley, and the first one of the series that I have read so far. Honestly, Lorri Dudley could write a phone book and I would read it – and love it – so it didn’t take any arm-twisting whatsoever for me to want to read this novella. And just as I knew it would be, it’s sweet and swoony and oh-so-good!
Amanda and Wesley are each hiding secrets that would get them laughed right out of high society and, while neither of them would likely complain about that development because it would allow them to be fully themselves, they have more than just themselves to think about. I really loved these two protagonists and the way they not only cherished each other but protected each other as well. By that, I mean that they allowed the other person to maintain their dignity in weakness and redirected attention toward their strengths. Scenes like this really touched my heart as I read their story, and I was rooting for them to remove the obstacles to their happily-ever-after.
And boy were there obstacles! Someone wants them out of commission and that someone is getting bolder about it by the moment. This added a dash of suspense to the romance, both of which kept me turning the pages. I had my suspicions about the suspense thread and while I was partially right I was also partially wrong. I really liked the layers that the author added to this part of the story, even though I wanted to knock some sense into some of the side characters in the process haha.
Bottom Line: Pack your fanciest duds, your high-society etiquette, and your detective hat for A Summer on Bellevue Avenue! The opening scene will quickly grab your attention, and Lorri Dudley’s stellar writing & compelling characters will keep you invested until the very end. Newport has fascinated me ever since I visited it several years ago, and I enjoyed it as the setting of this book. From the opulent homes to the rocky coast, this Gilded Age resort area is truly a feast for the senses and plays nicely into Dudley’s suspenseful and romantic plot. Speaking of the romances, the kisses deliciously match the tension level of the story, so keep a fan handy! Fabulous characters round out the mix, as well as a sweet message of blooming where you are planted and trusting God. A quick read that’s perfect for your evening to-do list!

This was another engrossing addition to the Romance at the Gilded Age Resorts series, taking place in Newport, Rhode Island in 1895. The opening scene was an attention-grabber and the plot itself was full of action and suspicion, making for a very page-turning read. Although a novella in length, the romance did not feel rushed as the main characters had known each other already. Amid the perpetual upper class contests to outdo one another was a beautiful and inspiring message of God’s love for all people, regardless of wealth, social standing, occupation or heritage. I loved how Amanda and Wesley each had weaknesses and allowed each other to work through them and thrive in spite of them. Enjoyed this spiritually uplifting page-turner!
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher via BookFunnel and Celebrate Lit. A positive review was not required and these are my honest opinions.
Rumors and innuendos cause mayhem and destroy plans and dreams. When is the right time to confront them instead of fleeing and avoiding the issues, hoping the false words will flit away? One’s character goes a long way when accusations run free. A change of scenery seems appropriate—a time to heal and process. What if the problem flows you and escalates? When is enough really enough? Enjoy the journey. Bravo, Lorri. I’m a true fan.
“God has prepared you for this moment. Go and bloom where you are planted, because He has tilled the soil.”
People are the same in any century. Lorri Dudley takes us back to New York City and Newport in 1895. We are invited into the lives of the rich and famous of the time. So many times we think if we just had more money, life would be simple. In her latest novel, A Summer on Bellevue Avenue, Dudley proves that money can’t buy happiness. In the space of a few hours, the future happiness of two of the ultra-rich, Wesley Astor Jansen and Amanda Klein, is tossed up in the air and contorted into suffering by those around them.
The big question becomes, how will each of them behave in these new, undesirable circumstances? Amanda is nearly thrown to the wolves in the summer playground for the wealthy, trying desperately to fit in, avoid the whispers and the reminders of the past. Wesley tries hard to prove his innocence of sordid allegations, but evidence keeps mounting to the contrary.
I love how down-to-earth and kind both Amanda and Wesley are. They stand in sharp contrast to their social circle, which forbids becoming true friends with the servants or even treating them compassionately.
Katie is my favorite secondary character, as she reluctantly realizes Amanda’s gold heart and decides to trust her. Katie gives very solid, well-considered advice, unlike Amanda’s society mentor.
I love how Wesley rescues Amanda socially, but the biggest rescue is a change to her thinking. Amanda is very fearful of making a misstep in this elite society. Wesley uses an example to open her eyes to how that society really operates, freeing her to be who God made her to be. “The captain who taught me threw the crabs in a bucket—no lid or anything to keep them inside. I asked if they’d climb out, but the captain laughed and said to watch. As soon as one crab looked as though he was going to make it over the edge to his escape, the other little buggers pulled him back down into the bucket. According to the captain, not a single one had ever gotten away.”
“These are the crabs, and this gilded inner sanctum is the bucket. If someone gets too high within its walls, others will tear them down.”
Author’s notes at the end list some of the famous socialites of the time who are mentioned in the book and give a brief bio of each.
I recommend this historical romance for lovers of history, the Gilded Age, and any dealing with inferiority complexes.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. I also bought an ebook copy. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.
Notable Quotables:
“A person’s value didn’t come from their bank account, bloodlines, or social connections. Their worth was determined by those they loved and who loved them in return and by God, who gave His son so they could have life.”
“I should warn you. Love makes a man weak.” “Vulnerable, yes, but love can also make a person stronger.”
“You’re a rose blooming in a thistle garden.” Katie smiled. “Show them not just the beauty on the outside but surprise them by what’s on your inside. My mama always says, ‘a little sugar makes bitter tea easier to drink.’”
In the enchanting realm of Christian Historical Romance, Lorri Dudley invites readers on a heart-stirring journey with her latest novel, “A Summer on Bellevue Avenue.” Nestled within the pages of this captivating tale is the story of Amanda Mae Klein, a wealthy heiress who discovers her soulmate in Wesley Jansen. Their love is an oasis of tranquility, with Wesley being the anchor that soothes Amanda’s anxiety in social interactions.
However, the idyllic narrative turns dark when an ominous force seeks to shatter the blissful union between Amanda and Wesley. The tranquility of their love is disrupted by a shocking event that leads to Wesley being accused of a grievous crime. As the shadows of suspicion loom over him, Amanda’s world crumbles and the foundation of their love is put to the ultimate test.
What follows is a gripping tale of resilience, faith, and the unyielding power of love in the face of adversity. Dudley skillfully navigates through the intricacies of the plot, unveiling secrets and introducing unexpected twists and turns that keep readers on the edge of their seats. The story captures the imagination and resonates with the profound message of enduring love and the triumph of faith.
One of the standout elements of “A Summer on Bellevue Avenue” is Dudley’s ability to weave a narrative that seamlessly combines a rich historical backdrop with the nuanced development of characters. Amanda’s journey, in particular, is a testament to the strength that lies within as she confronts challenges that threaten to dismantle the love she holds dear. The characters are expertly crafted, their personalities leaping off the pages and imprinting themselves on the reader’s heart.
The author’s mastery of storytelling is evident as she creates a world that is both immersive and poignant. The delicate dance between love and adversity is beautifully choreographed, drawing readers deeper into the characters’ emotions. Dudley’s prose is eloquent, painting vivid scenes that transport readers to a bygone era while still making the characters’ struggles relevant and relatable.
I was engrossed in “A Summer on Bellevue Avenue” from the first page to the last. The magnetic pull of the storyline and the well-rounded characters left me unable to put the book down until I reached a satisfying conclusion. Dudley’s ability to blend romance, historical elements, and Christian faith in a seamless tapestry is commendable and sets this novel apart in the genre.
In conclusion, if you seek a Christian Historical Romance that combines passion, faith, and a riveting plot, “A Summer on Bellevue Avenue” by Lorri Dudley is a must-read. My review is unbiased, as I received a complimentary copy of the book, but rest assured, all opinions expressed are genuinely my own. Embrace the love story that transcends trials and tribulations, and embark on a journey through the corridors of history with Amanda and Wesley as your guides.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
What an exciting story this was with intrigue, greed and misunderstandings. I liked how Wesley never gave up on proving his innocence and trying to win the love of his life back. Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Wesley is working hard at night getting his paperwork completed in order to propose marriage. He is overcome with stress and fatigue and falls asleep at his desk. A shrill scream awakens him as he finds an unconscious woman at the bottom of the stairs to his office. I appreciate his integrity to try to help the woman yet it caused him to bring doubt on his honor. Who is this woman and why was she at his office late at night?
Amanda is excited knowing that soon Wesley will ask for her hand in marriage. She adores him and can’t wait to start their lives together. She comes from a wealthy family but she never uses her wealth to gain acceptance. In fact she doesn’t really like the limelight especially after the scandal about her mother. When Amanda is suddenly whisked away by family in the early morning hours, she has no time to really digest what is happening. She is finally told of what transpired between Wesley and the unknown woman. I loved how she knew in her heart that Wesley would never betray her.
The story does take on a mystery when Amanda and Wesley’s lives are in danger. Someone doesn’t want them to get married. What would this person gain if the marriage did not take place ? The author does a good job of leaving little hints throughout the story of who was behind everything yet I was still surprised by who it turned out to be. I loved the time period and how two people showed great resilience in the face of adversity. Rumors and more rumors tried to ruin reputations as greed starts to take over someone’s thinking. The story is a nice illustration of trust and standing up for others. In the end, truth always prevails.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
I truly enjoy Christian Historical Romance Books and I also like reading books that are part of a series. A Summer on Bellevue Avenue by Lorri Dudley is Book 6 in the Romance at the Gilded Age Resorts series. The series is written by Various Authors and I enjoyed the first 5 books in this series and have been anticipating the release of this book.
We are taken back to 1895 in New York City. Amanda Mae Klein is a member of High Society and is getting ready to wed the man of her dreams, Wesley Jansen. Wesley is the only person that Amanda trusts to help her with Anxiety and more. Life takes a turn when Wesley is accused of pushing the Daughter of the Union Boss down the stairs at the Office of his Oil Company. Amanda is not dealing well with the ever growing controversary at hand and escapes to Newport. Wesley follows her as he wants to console her and assure her that he had no involvement in this fall. The pair soon discover that someone wants to hurt Amanda and someone is also trying to destroy their relationship. Will Wesley be able to protect Amanda and also prove that he didn't cause the fall? Will Amanda and Wesley make it to the altar for their wedding?
I have to say this has been one of my favorite series of all time. The Gilded Era of the series is a time period I truly enjoy. The "High Society" women in the books are just as beautiful. Amanda knows she struggles with being a part of High Society and Wesley has been the one to encourage her to trust him, but ultimately trust God. Wesley is a very strong and wise man and I truly LOVE his gentleness to and with Amanda. The many twists and turns in this book certainly kept me intrigued and it was a page turner. The book is one of Faith, Trust, LOVE and Mystery. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the time period and Christian Romance Fiction. AMAZING BOOK!
I love a good historical fiction book, so I decided to give "A Summer on Bellevue Avenue" a read. This was my first foray into Dudley's writing, and let me tell you, it was like being whisked away to another era.
From the moment I cracked open the book, I was transported to the upscale world of Newport, Rhode Island, with its sprawling mansions and bustling society scene. Dudley's descriptive flair brought every detail to life, from the opulent surroundings to the intricacies of high society etiquette.
But beyond the glitz and glamour, the heart of the story lies in the tumultuous journey of Amanda Mae Klein and Wesley Jansen. Their love story is far from smooth sailing, fraught with scandal and danger that kept me turning pages late into the night.
What I appreciated most was Dudley's ability to craft characters that felt real and relatable. Amanda and Wesley's struggles felt authentic, and I found myself rooting for them every step of the way. Their journey challenged their beliefs and tested their love, making for a truly gripping read.
As someone who loves a good historical romance, "A Summer on Bellevue Avenue" ticked all the boxes for me. It's a story of love, betrayal, and redemption that resonates long after the final page is turned. Whether you're a fan of the genre or simply looking for a captivating read, I highly recommend giving this book a try.
Note: I received a copy of this book from the author and was not required to write a positive review.
A Summer on Bellevue Avenue is written by Lorri Dudley. I have read several of this authors books and have always really enjoyed all of them. This is a wonderful addition to the Romance at the Gilded Age Resorts series, taking place in Newport, Rhode Island in 1895. Each book is written by a different author, but is tied together by the Gilded Age Resort theme.
Wealthy heiress Amanda Mae Klein is set to marry the man she loves, Wesley Jansen. He helps her with her anxiety - however there is an accident at Wesley’s office in the middle of the night. A girl has accused Wesley of pushing her down the stairs. Amanda flees to the sanctuary of Newport, Rhode Island trying to sort everything out - however Wesley follows her there and tries to win back her trust and prove her innocence. However it seems that trouble is also following them there.
I really liked these characters. While they want for nothing, they are experiencing the downfall of high society. I loved how down to earth they seemed. I loved how Wesley balanced Amanda out - she deals with the fears of messing up in society.
This book is well written characters and an intriguing storyline. I loved the element of suspense with the story. I have been enjoying every book in the series.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book., all thoughts are my own.
“A Summer on Bellevue Avenue” is a delightful addition to the Romance at the Gilded Age Resorts series. This novella centers around Amanda, a relatable heiress facing challenges that put her faith to the test. The opening line sets a compelling tone, quickly drawing me in.
The connection with Amanda and Wesley is effortless, making it easy to root for them as they navigate their circumstances. And despite being less than 200 pages, the book is thoughtfully paced, offering a well-rounded story that doesn’t feel hurried.
I especially enjoyed the twists and turns and the elements of romance, trust, and resilience. Combining historical charm and heartfelt storytelling makes this a satisfying and relatable tale that takes place during the Gilded Age.
I’ve enjoyed each book in this series and love that they all work as standalones. This one, however, is my favorite so far.
First Line: A scream and tumbling sound woke Wesley Astor Jansen. Series: Romance at the Gilded Age Resorts, book 6 Genre: Historical Christian Romance Author: Lorri Dudley Page Count: 156
#CoverLoverBookReview received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions are 100% mine.
Wesley Jansen is at the wrong place at the wrong time when a woman is pushed down the stairs at his office and he is blamed for it. Wesley had only fallen asleep after securing the privilege to marry the love of his life, Amanda Mae Klein, when the woman's scream woke him up. However, everyone deems him guilty, even though he is not.
Amanda's aunt decides the best outcome is to hurry away to their summer home and avoid another scandal that can rock their world. Amanda is in shock as she loves Wesley and is having a hard time coming to terms with it all.
Wesley follows Amanda and is bound and determined to not only clear his name but for her to understand his devotion and love to her and only her. Can Amanda believe Wesley had nothing to do with this unfortunate event, and can her fear of society and scandal take a back seat in loving Wesley?
I enjoyed this romantic story as we get to see snippets of Amanda and Wesley meeting for the first time. They were certainly meant to be together, but someone really did not want that to happen.
I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
A Summer on Bellevue Avenue is a quick read with a touch of suspense.
The plot made the pages of this book fly past. The setting, the circumstances, and the main characters’ strengths/weaknesses all dovetailed together perfectly. Lorri brought the setting to life in such a natural way with little details sprinkled throughout the action.
The characters were marvelous. I could completely relate to Amanda and her fear of people. If I were dropped back into the Gilded age, I believe I would act exactly like her. She had such a lovely character arc and faith journey.
And Wesley was the ideal hero. A perfect blend of confidence with a hint of insecurity (always locked out of sight). I felt for this man.
Content to be aware of: Mentions of drinking, enough to make me a bit uncomfortable, but not enough that it would deter me from reading this book again. Also mentions of main character’s brother being unfaithful in marriage, and scenes with this man acting too familiar with other women.
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book, but my thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
A Summer on Bellevue Avenue is a sweet historical fiction novel that reads quickly and nicely. You won’t regret reading this one.
This novel is part of the Gilded Age series. It’s such a fun novel. I have loved all of the novels in this series that I have read so far. They read quickly. The characters are wonderful and definitely keep me interested and enthralled in the story.
In this novel, we have this couple. They’re set to be married. But then scandal hits. Amanda is an heiress. Wesley is who she’s going to marry. But when scandal hits him in the form of a woman saying he pushed her and she was harmed things escalate quickly. Amanda basically runs away and Wesley follows because he wants to make their future happen.
The plot moved quickly. I loved the characters. And of course, I loved to hate part of them as well!
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. What I think you should know: A Summer on Bellevue Avenue by Lorri Dudley is part of the Romance at Gilded Age Resort Series. The books are standalone. This book is set in Newport Rhode Island in the summer of 1895. It features heiress Amanda Klein and her suitor Wesley Jansen.
What I think about this book: This was such an intriguing story I always enjoy stepping back in time to read about such a romanticized era. Dudley is one of my go to authors so i did not hesitate when given the opportunity to read this book. It exceeded all of my expectations. Amanda was born into the world of the elite, but after scandal she was raised in a simple life by her governess. When she is thrust back into society she struggles to know who to trust. Wesley is determined to prove his innocence and above all his genuine love for Amanda, but when unknown forces are working against them it is an uphill battle. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I look forward to reading more from the series and the author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
All the books in this series are standalone books because they highlight various real famous resorts of the rich and famous back in the Gilded Age but have fictitious characters. I think this one might be my favorite because of the mystery and suspense involved! Wesley Jansen is working at his oil company late one night when a woman falls down the stairs and he is blamed. The police work at that time is amazingly biased! Amanda Klein is a wealthy woman who is almost engaged to Wesley and very shy. She is whisked away to the seaside town of Newport to escape the scandal regarding Wesley even though she wants to believe he wasn't with the injured woman. Suddenly things go crazy when Wesley comes to Newport and tries to earn back Amanda's trust but things keep happening that make him look guiltier and also endanger Amanda's life! Who is behind these acts and will Amanda lose her life? There were twists and turns that I didn't see coming plus I loved Amanda's kindness towards others. I also liked Wesley's staunch morals. Great book!
Enjoy the shenanigans of the elite in Newport A Summer on Bellevue Avenue is about old money, new money, no money and the effects it has on people. Gossip, jealousy and bribery packed into an enjoyable, suspenseful, heartfelt page-turner in typical Lorri Dudley fashion. Amanda Klein, a perceptive beauty stayed away from social settings and idol chit chat. Who could blame her after her mother ran off and suffered an untimely death. Wesley Jansen, owner of Jansen and Sons Oil and Engineering with his older brother Theo; the brains behind the operation. On the other hand, Wesley was bold, had ease with conversation, enjoyed connecting people and didn’t mind working twice as hard as most. * Will Mr. Klein, the ruthless businessman and socialite, agree to sell his daughter? * What happens when reputations are in question? * How will Amanda feel when she finds out about the arrangement? Find out why red is going to be all the rage this summer. Highly recommend this delightful read.
“A scream and a tumbling sound woke Wesley Astor Jansen. He jolted upright from his desk and swiped at the paper that was stuck to his cheek.”
This story begins with a mystery right away as to what happened when Wesley dozed off at his desk after hours at his company. Guilty until proven innocent,, Wesley has the unenviable task of convincing Amanda, his soon-to-be fiancé, and everyone else that he is not to blame for the lady’s unfortunate accident. Couple this with other accidents that keep happening to Amanda and you’ll find this a page turner and quick read. I enjoyed the mystery and the steadfastness of character that Wiley had in proving his innocence.
Favorite quote: “A person’s value didn’t come from their bank account, bloodlines, or social connections. Their worth was determined by those loved and who loved them in return and by God who gave His son so they could have life. And she palled to live let to the full.”
I received a copy of the book through Celebrate Lit. A positive review was not required. All opinions are my own.
This sweet, romantic story is set in the Gilded Age, specifically Newport, the summer home of the Astors. The author uses this opulent setting to advantage throughout the storyline as the two main characters, Amanda and Wesley, attempt to solve a mystery while attending some of the season’s most prestigious social events. Wesley has been falsely accused of a crime, and Amanda is determined to help him clear his name. But when the danger begins to include Amanda, they both realize that time to solve the mystery is now.
I enjoyed reading Wesley and Amanda’s story, and I thought the author did a great job with the timing of the twists and turns of the story. I liked the thread of faith that guided their decisions and kept their characters steady throughout the story. It’s a perfect story to read when you are looking for a book with sweet, clean romance; interesting characters, and a little bit of intrigue to keep you turning pages as Wesley and Amanda seek their happily-ever-after.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
A Summer on Bellevue Avenue is the sixth installment from the multi author series called Romance at the Gilded Age Resorts. This contribution is by the talented Lorri Dudley. I loved Wesley and Amanda’s story. I liked how there was an element of suspense in addition to the romance. A wonderful tale of love and faith. I thought it was a great book to read that I did not want to put down. I give A Summer on Bellevue Avenue five stars. I recommend it for those who enjoy reading clean historical romance. I am looking forward to the next installment from the Romance at the Gilded Age Resorts series, Sandra Merville Hart’s A Spring at The Greenbrier.
I received a paperback copy of Lorri Dudley’s A Summer on Bellevue Avenue from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
A Summer on Bellevue Avenue is number six in the Romance at the Gilded Age Resorts Series that has books from several Christian historical writers. This is one by Lorri Dudley which has a wealthy heiress who is is danger of ruining her reputation. That does not sound like much but in this time of few women’s rights it could be everything. Also the threat is far from just a social reputation since Amanda Mae Klein’s fiancé, Wesley Jansen is accused of a criminal action.
Stand and face the accusation or run and hide. What an intriguing story this becomes. I was never in doubt of Wesley’s actions but wanted to see what Amanda would decide. Having money die not necessarily make life easy but having the Lord to look to for guidance sure does.
The publisher Wild Hearts Books provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.
I am enjoying this Romance at the Gilded Age series. Each book is a stand-alone and takes us away to the summer resorts that the wealthy enjoy. This story finds Amanda Klein seeking consultation for her bruised heart in Newport New Jersey. I loved that Wesley amidst the scandal chose to seek the truth and prove to his love that things are not as they appear. Shrouded in mystery you will enjoy trying to figure out who is behind the deceit and why. A sweet romance with some elements that leave you smiling, secrets that are uncovered, faith that gives strength, and finding where our worth comes from. I loved the banter between the characters and found this to be a solid, quick read. A beautiful cover invites you in to quickly immerse yourself till the last page. I received a complimentary copy from CelebrateLit. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
Lorri Dudley’s ‘A Summer on Bellevue Avenue’ will immerse you into the lives of the rich and famous during the Gilded Age. More importantly, it so intriguingly conveys the timeless truth that-no matter ones station in life-a person’s true worth comes from God’s love for us. You will enjoy meeting introverted Amanda whose genuineness is refreshing amid the superficiality surrounding her. You will also be drawn to the dashing Wesley who refuses to give up pursing his one true love amid the challenges that beset them both. This short & sweet novella will make you think and feel deeply about what truly matters in life.
This author is becoming one of my favorite authors to read for a clean romance. I recommend this story to anyone who enjoys reading stories from the gilded age or reading about characters who experience a disability. “Wesley starred at the newspaper…but the letters danced on the page. He tensed unable to make anything out.” Dudley’s writing is so vivid a reader finds themselves pulled into the story experiencing each captivating moment as if part of the scene.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the author. No review was required and I received no compensation. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is a story of betrayal and greed. It is also a love story. I really had no idea of who was the guilty until it was revealed in the book.
My favorite quote in the book is on page 166 “ A person’s value didn’t come from their bank account, bloodlines, or social connections. Their worth was determined by those they loved and who loved them in return, and by God, who gave his son so they could have life. This quote is a perfect ending to the whole storyline.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this book. I liked the characters and liked the setting. I liked how the author set up a mystery to solve and how the characters were able to figure everything out. I also liked seeing Amanda grow as a character. I liked how Wesley supported her and helped her to step outside her comfort zone. I liked how they were there for each other and stuck by each other even as someone was trying to tear them apart.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
I have been enjoying reading this series of books set in the Gilded Age. This one was a little different because the main characters are already in love but have to figure out who is setting them up and overcome the difficulties that come their way. I found the book to be well written and with good biblical lessons. I did figure out who was behind everything but not the motivation. I look forward to reading more books in this series.
A Summer on Bellevue Avenue is full of mystery and intrigue. Amanda is shy and being among people, terrifies her. She likes being in her greenhouse and not having to maintain a conversation. The only other thing she enjoys is being with Wesley. Coming from both wealthy families, they are a perfect match, but someone is jealous and making their lives full of scandals. Can they figure out who is responsible for everything happening around them.
I seriously couldn't put this story down. At first I was not into the privileged class ways of the times. But it still kept my curiosity piqued. Then the character development was done so well, I ended up thrilled with the way it brought the classes together by God's Word. Well done!
Wealthy heiress Amanda is excited to marry her sweetheart. Unfortunately there’s a problem at his office. He’s being accused of a crime. Suspenseful, secrets and more. Will the truth drive them apart or will they stand together. Can’t wait for the next one.
A Summer on Bellevue Avenue was an escape back in time. I felt like I was living in the Gilded Age, in beautiful Newport, RI. The mystery was intriguing and a page turner. I loved it!
