Ransome Donovan isn’t very good at communication. Or being around people. Or keeping his inner thoughts from coming right out of his mouth and starting a storm that his business partner has to step in and tame. Customer service isn’t his forte, so he’s content to stay in his kitchen creating gorgeous cakes and flaky pastries. Rather than try and be more sociable and find the right person to start a family with, he has decided to focus on growing his business and doing what he loves until one day, he’s swept up in a negotiation that could bring him a piece of equipment that would take his bakery from cozy to commercial.
For years, Celeste has settled on relationships with people who are content to let her bend over backwards for them while they do nothing in return. Her engagement to the seemingly perfect man is wonderful until she realizes that there’s a third partner in this relationship - his overbearing mother. Celeste’s every decision is critiqued until she barely recognizes herself anymore. She soon realizes that if she goes through with this wedding, she’ll lose what little of herself is left. Until one day, she breaks free and finds her white knight waiting to rescue her . . . again.
Can this beauty tame the beast? Possibly. Especially if he’s got carbs to offer and is more than willing to share them with her. Can the beast rein in his inner grouch to make this beautiful woman happy? Definitely, because he can’t imagine living a life without her in it.
Join Cee Bowerman in the sixth book of the Donovan series as she introduces you to more members of the family and tells a story about an unlikely couple and the love they are more than ready to share.
I liked this one, but I felt like I should have liked it more. I really liked Celeste, hated the spot she was in at the start, but glad that her dad set up an out for her and that she took it. Ransome, I don't know, he was only really likeable with Celeste. Although, I don't fault him for going a bit crazy on the one customer who complained about the cupcakes. I liked that when both of them realized the attraction was there they went for it and went for it in a big way with no condoms and weren't all that worried. So it annoyed me when Celeste got all up in arms about the contract. I wished that she would have talked to all those involved and saw how every single person too advantage of a "maybe" to get her and Ransome in one spot to see if something would happen. It was nice to see how things ended, that they were happy and heading towards that argued 7.

I loved this one. It's nice to see that the baker is the guy this time around. I loved how this one started, and I can't wait to read more about this family.
Another great addition to this series. I had many lol moments with Ransome. He may not talk a lot but when he does he's to the point and hilarious. I liked Celeste but she disappointed me when she did what she did.
This is the 6th book in The Donovans series. Ransome Donovan is a brilliant but grumpy baker. Celeste Sweet is Ransome’s younger sister’s best friend. Ransome was her knight in shining armor when she was a teenager and she fell hard for him. Fast forward 15 years and Ransome comes to Celeste’s aid again rescuing her this time from an ill-fated marriage. He finally sees that she all grown-up and is the woman he can spend the rest of his life with. But as in real life there’s a bump in the road that needs to be resolved before there can be a happily ever after. This book has laughs, tears and everything in between because after all it’s a Cee Bowerman book.
Cee writes stories of wonderfully strong women who meet and fall for strong, protective alpha males and this one is no exception.
Confession time: Ransome rocks the customer service experience! If you have worked in customer service and don't revel in his way with customers, then I don't want to know you. His grumpy demeanor is frankly adorable, especially when it goes into hiding whenever he is around Celeste. Celeste completely transformed into someone she didn't recognize, trying to fulfill her dream of a husband and a family. Fortunately, she comes to her senses and pulls a runner; right into Ransome's arms. The torch these two have been carrying for each other was truly the stuff of romantic movies. They just fit together so very perfectly, their lives were meant to intertwin. He does make a tiny mistake that kind of blows up in both their faces but it all comes together in the end. This is one of my most favorite series, I love each and every book in it so much!
I love Cee's books but this one was only ok. I liked the premise, I liked the couple, but then the h runs away for a really stupid reason & that was where it lost me. The end after that felt rushed and I don't feel like the h ever had to realize the hurt & anxiety she caused. There is no resolution between her & other characters. She is supposedly a very smart, strong person but she runs off thinking everyone important in her life betrayed her?! No, sorry it doesn't work for me. Also there were character names thrown around & I had no idea who they were or how they were related in spite of having read all the other books. I was a bit lost with this one & feel there should have been a better introduction of the cousins across the street, not just an assumption that we already know them. Still gave it 3 stars though because 70% was good.
We are introduced to ransom and a few more of the donovan family the cousins from the first 5 books and they did not disappoint they were as funny and crazy as the others ransom moody snappy and just wants to be left to do his passion of baking and interact with the family and friends as and when needed but a unplanned meeting on his part any way has him face to face with the past his little sisters childhood best friend celeste who has had a big crush on him since she was young she also the only one to see him for who is he and not the same person everyone else see.
This a mother great story from cee bowerman cant wait for the next
I love Ransome - the fact that he has no tolerance for fools and says it like it is. He is put in an awkward situation by his sister and agrees to help out her best friend. Celeste was on her way to msking a huge mistake, thankfully she realises in time and so Ransome becomes a white knight to the run away bride. As with all Cee's books the Donovan's series includes found family who are more than happy to wind each other up with impressive hijinks but if someone needs help, they will come together as one to face the world head on. I particularly loved Ransome's rants at the entitled customer, especially the fact that the Quinn stand back to watch the fireworks while Holly attempts to control his temper! Such a fun read!
Oh boy, what a roller coaster ride Cee took us on with this story. Some moments were humorous as per usual, and some were a touch sad; especially for Celeste with how she grew up an Army brat, and not really able to make a lasting friendship, well until she was in Marlboro visiting her grandparents, and meeting some Donovan kids.
Ransome is an amazing baker, but not into the smoozing with customers, so he always seemed gruff and grumpy, even to his staff, until Celeste comes back into his life.
It was a fun story and the added characters were great also. Enjoy and Happy reading!!
There are times when your heart will break for her characters. There are times when you will laugh so hard that rereading an entire scene is an absolute must. Throughout it all this author never disappoints and you walk away feeling as though your spirits have been uplifted along with that of her characters. Even her note to the readers at the beginning of the book was relatable. Thank you once again, Cee. I can't wait to read what comes next.
If you love humor and family of all types this is a must read.
This book was so good. Celeste and Ransome's story was epic. I like how he and Quinn jumped and saved his sister, Celeste, and Lara from something that was so bad and could have been horrific for the three girls. With all his grumping and fussing he has a big heart. There is a lot of laughter in this story. The humor was great. I am looking for more in this series. As always Cee doesn't disappoint. I love all of her books.
I absolutely love a book that can pull you in within the first three pages and keep your interest through to the last page. The storyline was exciting and new, and the characters were well written. It was nice revisiting other characters in the Donavan family. The love story between Ransome and Celeste was perfect in a ying yang ☯️ sort of way. Celeste was smooth like silk, and Ransome made no excuses or apologies for his gruffness. This book was an enjoyable read, and I look forward to the next book in this series.
Whip it Up is book 6 in The Donovans Series written by the talented author Cee Bowerman. I loved the family banter between brothers, sisters, cousins and friends. The author writes about families you want to be part of. In this installment we get to know about Mr. Grumpy Baker, Ransom Donovan and sexy Celeste Sweet, they both had a crush about each other for years. The plot has drama, secrets, lot of family banter, lot of cupcakes, cookies and cakes, a horrible boss/almost mother in law, humor and romance. The epilogue was amazing and funny. Can’t wait to read more!!
I chose this rating because this was a pretty good book. I enjoyed all of the characters. This was a book of kindness, compassion, believing in yourself and doing what is right for you. I enjoyed Ransom and Celeste story. I think the author did a great job with putting these characters together. I love the way they were both infatuated with each other without the other knowing it. When if happened it really happened. I really enjoyed this book. Oh, Ransom family is awesome. I recommend this book to all romance readers.
Yes!!!! Ransome and Celeste’s story makes me so happy! It’s so good to be back with the Donovan’s again. I love this family and how much they like each other - the way they live and work together. The whole grumpy/sunshine thing just really does it for me. I couldn’t put this book down! I feel like I need to read the whole series all over again just because I want to get to know all the Donovan’s all over again! ❤️
I fell in love with all of these awesome characters right from the beginning, and with each new story I love them more. This was a hilarious, intriguing, and delightful story that you won't want to miss. The only issue I have is that I really wish that the stories were longer. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
This one is my favourite in this series, who doesn’t love a grumpy man. Ransome is an awesome baker but not great with customers,Celeste is engaged to a man with a horrid mother in law who criticises her daily, in jumps someone with a plan,a kidnapping and viola, the perfect recipe for true love. Another fantastic book from this wonderful author, all the feels and laughter you know you get from a Cee Bowerman book, highly recommend 🖤❤️
Wow, this book is hilarious it keeps you laughing the whole book!! Ransome is the grumpy guy who doesn't deal well with people and thinks he'd be happy baking and being by himself the rest of his life. Then Celeste walks back into his life, and all that changes all he needs is Celeste to love him and understand him. This book I definitely a must read this series is absolutely amazing!!
I adore these characters. The story is cute and quite entertaining. I like this Donovan series. The characters are down to earth, zany with lots of sass. This one is about a crazy baker and the girl he has loved for quite a while which is fortunate since has been sweet on him since she was sixteen. Entertaining, delightful and it left me feeling happy. I hope they do their seven. The kids would be a blessing.
I absolutely loved Ransome and Celeste. They are absolutely perfect for each other. This wasn't your typical best friends older brother romance. It was perfectly Cee, and her books are just fantastic. I like that we see more of the other Donovans and they are such a riot. I can't wait to see who comes next. Absolutely amazing 👏 💯 MUST READ!
Spending time with the Donovan's is always a feel good comfort read. Ransome is super grumpy, has no filter, and loves to bake. Celeste is a ray of sunshine and is rediscovering herself. I loved their connection. These books move quickly, there are time hops where all the minutia isn't always detailed, but you can still follow along. I'm already looking forward to the next Donovan book.
Ransome is sweet according to the one that he saw but never really took the time to look at. When he is tasked to help get her away from a wacky situation things start to fall into place until she finds the truth or what she thinks is the truth. Such crazy banter between all the characters in this book. Loved it like all,the others in the series.
Cee you made me laugh till I cried such a great story Ransom was so funny and sexy and like a cranky bull but so loveable Celeste was just perfect for him she just had that soothing touch that he needed to bring him into himself and make him smile , just perfect together .
Such a good book! It was heartfelt and seriously funny. I couldn’t put the book down and finished it in less then a day. I am excited for what is to come but I really wish there was more with Rasome. He is just incredible with his quick wit and gruff but lovable attitude. Can’t wait for more Donovan books!!!
Cee pulls it off once again! I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more! What a great feel good happy ending. I so look forward to one of cee’s new books. Her series make for many happy days reading about characters a love while getting glimpses of former characters I love with little updates.
OMG, could this series be better? The answer is yes, because this author is so talented and spot on! I think she could roam her neighborhood and write down her neighbors addresses and make it into something I would read🤗 Did I happen to mention she's in my top 5 authors? every time I leave a review I have to gush and fangirl!😍
When Ransome is salty, Celeste is sweet. Sweet and salty always makes a perfect desert! Ransome and Celeste balance each other perfectly they build each other up higher than either thought possible
I love all of her books. She makes me laugh and cry. And although I know the book will end I will get updates in the next one. Can't wait for her next one...I tend to get them finished in one sitting, I just don't want to put them down.
Awesome, funny, witty just a wonderful read as always from Cee Bowerman. Seeing the Donovan's again getting to know a new branch of the family was wrll worth it. Celeste and Ransome are great characters, couldn't recommend this book more
