Amara Ramos is a half black and Dominican 31-year-old leasing agent and aspiring real estate agent from Miami. She grew up in meager beginnings, obese and overlooked. As if this itself wasn’t enough, she experienced lots of emotional and verbal abuse as a result. Being exceptionally smart, she is giving a full ride to college, and a second opportunity to make friends and fit in, which lands her smack dab in a secret lifestyle she can’t seem to stay away from. While finding solace in something she truly had no business entertaining, she meets a mysterious person who she’s coined as Mr. Handsome. What happens when their worlds collide outside of those walls? If two people from different sides of the track both had a naughty side does that make them compatible? Will they be able to withstand the naysayers and make it out together?
Amara Ramos is a 31-year-old leasing agent and aspiring real-estate extraordinaire from Miami. After a lifetime of modest beginnings, she finds solace in a secret lifestyle she arguably has no business entertaining — until she meets a mysterious man she calls “Mr. Handsome.” As her world shifts, power dynamics, self-worth, and desire collide.
“This BBW Got Him Choosin” landed solidly at four stars for me. I found myself really irritated with Amara’s mother — it’s wild to be jealous of your own daughter and sabotage her relationship with her father. Women who chase men’s attention like that? Definitely dangerous territory. But seeing Amara grow from being picked on by her peers into someone they all want? That transformation was satisfying to watch.
The twist caught me off guard (I usually spot them a mile away) — the subplot with the boss at the club and the frequenting of the “sec dungeon” added depth and surprise I wasn’t expecting. Meanwhile, Achilles and Amara grew on me. Although their meeting is unconventional, you can tell Achilles loves and cares for Amara: he listens, acts, and makes sure she’s treated right. It’s rare to see that kind of respect in the heat of the moment, and Bushra handled it well.
No matter what her mom couldn't break her not all I'm happy her father finally let her mom after all those years even going to jail she was hateful.. Hopefully we get an update See them get married
And maybe we can Tanya her best friend find love to
But love how just loved on her never let anyone not even his mother or brother come between them Unconditionally love and sexual chemistry was good to.. I like to see more about them
This was a very good read.. Love the main characters except Amara’s momma everybody else good though her daddy a vagina though then he starts to grow a pair after 20 plus years 🙄 chile bye but Hey every girl needs their dad idk what anybody says 🤷🏽♀️ Loved the Spanish translation inside (I’m currently learning so that was exciting for me) Loved the boys names …I love a good name theme 😂

I loved that it’s a fun short read. Love the characters Amara and Achilles. Story line flowed well. Only issue I had was the misspelling and the wrong word choice. Being an ex- proofreader it bugs me when the flow of a sentence is interrupted with either the wrong words or misspelling. Unfortunately I find This in quite a few of our black authored books. Just make sure your proofreaders and editors do better.
This book was sad emotional because of her mother, but along came true happiness her soul mate who was with her every step of the way. It was just truly heart touching when love and happiness found her.
This was such a cute read. I'm happy that Amara did not let her childhood trauma deter her from making her dreams a reality. This book is definitely about strength, determination and healing.
It was a good book I like Amara but I can't stand her momma and she got what she deserved. Mr Handsome is something special and I love the way he loved on Amara from.jump. I need another 100 pages into future lol.
