Step into the captivating world of The Worst of Me, a poetic journey that unearths the things we hide in the dark.
The Worst of Me is a heartbreaking collection of dark poetry that is unapologetically defiant, hauntingly vulnerable, and beautifully human. Complete with illustrations and photos from the author, Alisha Christensen, this new poetry collection inspires readers to celebrate their authenticity, embrace their flaws, and discover the strength that lies within their darkest moments.
With the same raw writing found in her previous poetry books, The Worst of Me draws readers into a fairy-tale like world where life’s challenges and hidden demons are embraced, inspiring a journey toward full self-acceptance and freedom from societal expectations.
Hi, I’m Alisha, the voice behind Where She Grows. As a single mom, self-made poet, and all-around hell-raiser, I’ve spent the last four years pouring my soul into poetry that captures just a small part of the raw and real aspects of life.
Through my four independently published poetry collections, I explore themes of love, life, and losing yourself to create a space where you can grow through what you go through.
I write poetry about healing from intergenerational trauma, abuse, and the grief of losing a sister. My series, Still Growing Wildflowers isn’t about glossing over the tough parts; it’s about finding the beauty, the strength, the love, or simply just acknowledging that sometimes, life just fxcking sucks and it is what it is.
I absolutely adore the style/layout of this book. Alisha never ceases to amaze me. Feels like your reading your bestie’s intimate journal. I never get sick of her vulnerability and unapologetic poetry. I appreciate her honesty on all things, love, healing, and womanhood. If you are looking for poetry that says ‘me too’ to all your worst hurts, pick up this book.
Still not sure how the author managed to see inside my soul but these poems are hauntingly beautiful; real, and raw. She doesn’t hide from the darkness inside her or cover her flaws, while also managing a level of self awareness and self love we’d all be so lucky to emulate.
5++++ stars. I couldn't put the book down. Every poem, every page is special and delicate. The vulnerability and self-reflection is incredible, raw and unique and so is the authors writing style. So good. Highly recommend this book and will definitely read more books by Alisha.
