Juniper Ridge #4

Show of Honor

Rate this book
She rocked my world last Christmas. Now she’s here with my baby in her arms.
I never dreamed I’d be dressed as a deranged bear the first time I held my daughter.
Or even that I’d have a daughter.
Navy SEAL life isn’t great for fatherhood.
But seeing Jessie with baby Joy hits me like a happy holiday thunderbolt.
She’s not sure she trusts me, and who can blame her?
Maybe if we’d swapped more than ten words before falling into bed that snowy night, we wouldn’t be strangers.
I can’t regret our fling, just like I can’t ditch a military career I’ve wanted my whole life.
But maybe there’s something I want more.
Jessie, for starters. This unexpected small-town holiday.
We’re making heaps of family memories over gift wrap gaffes and sexy dreidel games.
Not to mention kisses hot enough to melt mistletoe.
I just need to prove we belong together.
Preferably before one of us hops a flight and gets gone for good.
One-click this second chance, small town rom-com about a military man who discovers he’s a father and the woman who started out as a one-night stand and might become his happily ever after.

Favorite Quotes:

I never understood the whole “mama bear” thing until I had Joy... There’s something so primal about knowing we’re all just mammals. Only a nursing bra separates me from a grizzly.

Lana sips her eggnog from a mug with a grinning Santa captioned I have a huge package for you.

You’re the coolest woman I’ve ever met who hasn’t changed my diaper.

He’s handling me like I’m spun sugar and he’s got a huge sweet tooth.

My Review:

This was a quick and delightfully amusing read with an unusually endearing slate of characters, and the clever sass, keen wit, and volcanic steam I have come to expect from Tawny Fenske. The storylines were relatively low angst yet dealt with real-world issues and concerns while employing engaging and entertaining twists using equal parts humor and perceptive insights. I adored this couple and hope to see them again.

5 star Review Show of Honor (Juniper Ridge #3.5) by Tawna Fenske
I was invested in this story from the first chapter and as with the other books in this series, this was a great second chance at love, surprise baby story.
All it takes is one night to change the course of ones life and that’s what happens to Jessie and Joe. Not knowing how to contact Navy Seal Joe, Jessie is left pregnant and alone. Just before Christmas, Joe returns home for a visit and and runs into Jessie and imagine his surprise when finds he has a baby daughter, Joy.
I loved the relationship that developed between Jessie and Joe and the scenes with his daughter melted my heart. Griffin has with his daughter and it had me chuckling as he tried to walk the minefield of dealing with a teenage daughter.
Joe will have to work hard to convince Jessie that he can be trusted. Could the magic of the holiday season give Joe and Jessie a chance at happiness?

Sugar and spice proves to be something nice and adds a little bump to the heart. Fenske is good at taking the unexpected and turning it into a magical moment. Show of Honor gets it's moment by adorable means and proceeds to become a temptation that will warm any heart. Joe and Jessie are a must read holiday delight.

If you love surprise babies and second changes all wrapped up in a magical package look no further than this sweet yet steamy romance.
Joe and Jessie had one night of passion, no numbers or personal information was exchanged so when that night resulted in a bundle of joy, Jessie had no way of contacting Joe. When Joe comes home for a family visit in the run up to Christmas the last thing he expected was to be introduced to his daughter and his reaction was what took this book to another level. This is a story about reconnecting, about love, families and second changes and it’s certainly a book that will leave you smiling. It’s a magical read that I highly recommend and even though I haven’t read many book in the Juniper Ridge Series, I still loved everything about this feel good factor romance. A beautifully written, magical tale.

We have a SEAL hero and a heroine who does humanitarian volunteering work with Peace Corps. They meet on the airport, during Christmas holidays, have a one-night stand and one year forward they meet again. Turns out they got a miracle baby out of this night and now they’re trying to figure things out.

I loved how this book has broken many stereotypes and goes against the societal norm. I really enjoyed the carefree Christmas feeling, the Jewish culture elements I got to learn. It was a light read and something that I needed at this moment. If you want a quick and fast paced Christmas novella this is one you could pick up.

1.5 stars Second‑Chance • Surprise Baby • Holiday Romance
I picked this mainly because the audio and book were free, but this just wasn’t for me. Narrated in dual style by two new‑to‑me narrators, I unfortunately didn’t enjoy their performance. Though labelled a rom-com, I didn’t get the humour, and the writing didn’t connect. The FMC Jessie gave off a strange vibe; the book kept stressing her independence on nearly every page, which felt like it was trying too hard.

Joe and Jessie spend one night together a year ago. They didn't exchange numbers or personal information which made it really difficult for Jessie to contract him when she realised that their time together had some unexpected results.

They meet again by chance a few weeks before Christmas and they have a lot to discuss. Joe didn't expected to see Jessie on his parents town and he definitely didn't expect to meet his daughter. His reaction to the news and seeing Jessie again was wonderful.

While they spend more time together they soon see that they share more than a child together, their connection is still there, like it never went away.

But as a Navy SEAL Joe is only on leave for three weeks before going back, without knowing when he will be back or for how long, their uncertain future makes things complicated.

I enjoyed reading about their time together while they re discovered each other and especially how Joe bonded with their baby.

This novella is part of a series that I haven't read before, there were many characters from the series but it can be read as a standalone.

* I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

I have been looking forward to this book and it did not disappoint. In a past book we knew Jessie got pregnant, but not the details. I loved that Jessie got pregnant by the tall, extremely handsome, Seal Joe. By the way he was the son of Pattie and Colleen that lives at Juniper Ridge. I can’t imagine how Jessie and Joy were surprised when they see each other at Juniper Ridge. What a funny way to see each other again. I enjoyed watching the two get to know each other better, and Joe fall in love with his daughter Joy. There was some good advice given in the book to Joe and Jessie. I enjoyed the book and encourage you to read it. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

I first heard about Tawna Fenske in August of 2015 when her book "About That Fling" was featured as a "Kindle First." I have fallen in love with the way that she tells a story. Her characters are fun, and even ones you may not like at first tend to grow on you. Since then, I have read anything that I have found by Tawna.

After reading “Show Down,” I was anxiously anticipating the next book in the series. I was intrigued about Gretchen’s sister, and was glad that we would get a chance to find out her story. This book did not disappoint.

I was glad that not only did we get a bit more backstory to Gretchen’s family, we also found out more information about the “Juniper Ridge Moms.” I really liked how everything came together in this book As I really ended the “Front & Center” series by Tawna, I knew that the military depiction of Joe would be well written. My only issue with this book is that it was too short! I can’t wait to read the next book!

This surprise baby trope was really good. The one night stand turned into baby was wonderful in that Joe and Jessie were still just as attracted to each other when they ran into each other again. The instant love Joe felt for baby Joy was so sweet.

I loved Joe's relationship with his mothers and the way the big old Navy Seal was really just a big old squishy teddy bear full of love. He was definitely my favorite character.

I was gifted a copy of this book via Social Buterfly PR. All thoughts are my own.

This was a sweet, light and quick second chance romance that hit all the right spots. I love this author's ability to write relatable characters, flaws and all, and turn their stories into a feel-good narrative that hits all the right spots. This novel, while a novella, still managed to give me the warm tingleys as two likeable characters reconnected unexpectedly. It's part of the Juniper Ridge series with teeny tiny crossovers to Fenske's Ponderosa Resort series. There's only small references to other characters from the series and you absolutely do not have to have read a book from the other stories - Joe and Jess are the focus here with the other characters having minimal impact on the story apart from giving fans such as myself an opportunity to check in on them. The story follows Joe and Jess, both of whom are related to folk participating in the Juniper Ridge reality show and living in the small, created community set up for the series. After having their flights delayed in the lead up to Christmas the year before, Joe and Jess share a memorable night together. No names are exchanged through mutual agreement. Joe is a Navy SEAL and Jess works for the Peace Corps so they're both ships in the night that don't think they'll see each other again, even though there was a strong connection and each try to find the other after their one night stand. Graced by fate, they reconnect unexpectedly a year later at Juniper Ridge while Joe is on leave visiting his mums (Patti and Colleen for readers playing along at home) and Jess was helping the Ridge with her expertise in setting up not-for-profits (she's Gretchen's sister). Their chemistry is still as hot as ever and, to boot, there's a three-month old surprise waiting for Joe. Surprise babies done well are totally my jam so this book ticked a lot of boxes for me.

There was a lot for me to like in this book, particularly the main characters. While Joe was a SEAL, the author didn't take the bait as a lot of other writers do and make him over the top military. He was compassionate, kind, considerate and just an all-round sweetheart. Having worked hard in the Navy, his career was definitely a big part of his story, but it was a by-line rather than something that took over his character and the plot. While there was definitely a strong element of instalove between him and Jess, they were both written as adults who had big decisions before them. I liked this, particularly with Jess's character. Having a baby to a virtual stranger would be wrought with tough calls and all kinds of emotions and Jess went through them all. While trying to stay realistic about her situation, she was also scared, full of doubt and somewhat possessive, finding it difficult to share Joy, her daughter, easily. While other readers might find her a bit standoffish or 'mean' for this, I thought it was a great move by the author because this is exactly the spectrum of emotions someone would feel when a virtual stranger has a personal stake in your child's life all of a sudden. Add to that an ex that was a bit of a prick and her thinking she'd never have kids and I thought it was a pretty accurate depiction.

As per usual with this author, I loved the dialogue. Fenske always brings her own brand of quirk and humour and I continue to eat it up. The decent splashes of wit and sarcasm make the characters pop and keeps the story line realistic. The slightly larger than life awkward moments also crop up in a way that borderlines second-hand embarrassment for me as a reader, but not in a cringe-worthy way. Joe is a few years younger than Jess (31 - 36) which was also a nice change from other romances. Speaking of which, the romance had a few solid moments of steam as well as a lot of lighter, cute moments as the main characters reconnected to each other and their immediate attraction. As it's a novella, the romance does move at a woah to go speed quickly, but it still stayed sweet without reading as over the top. There was a bit of repetition, particularly since it's a quick read (Jess's chest, how cut Joe was, him leaving to go back to the SEALS so them probably having no future) but this was a minor thing that didn't stop me from enjoying the story.

I know I think this every time I read one of Fenske's books, but this was one of my favourites so far. I loved the main characters, especially Joe who was yummy and thankfully a jerk-free zone from the get-go. The ready-made family reunited through fate definitely made this a feel-good story and the epilogue was a nice touch. And seriously, how fabulous is the cover? I can't wait for the next book in this series.

This is book four in the Juniper Ridge series, and it can be read as a standalone. Because of the large cast of characters, and that this series is a spin-off of the Ponderosa Resort series, readers who have already read those books will know the back stories to many of the characters and family members that appear in this book. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.
Joe is on leave to visit his moms for the holidays when he runs into the girl he met last Christmas. The one who he couldn’t forget. Then he discovers that their night a year ago produced a baby. Thankfully, Jessie had tried to find him. Despite the information they failed to exchange a year ago she had not deliberately kept the knowledge of baby Joy from him. I love the scene when the run into each other again. Their story is sweet and hot. There is humor, romance, and heat as they reconnect and actually get to know each other beyond the physical intensity they share together. I love that they are both figuring out how to be a parent, how to be an individual, and how to be together in a future they never dreamed possible. The HEA is especially sweet. This was a heart-warming and joyful read and an excellent addition to the Juniper Ridge books.
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.

Cancelled flight + sexy AF stranger = best night of your life with multiple Os…and a little something extra;)

Joe & Jessie meet after both of their flights are cancelled. They have crazy chemistry & spend the night together both going their separate ways because of their work (SEAL & Peace Corp).

Fast Forward to the following year & Fate decides to put Joe & Jessie both in JuniperRidge for the holidays….their story is not the conventional love story but their chemist is still there & so are their feelings for each other. I love that Jessie struggles with wanting to be the best mom but also missing part of her past. Her character is honest and love that she is flawed & still a BA mom❤️

And y’all major swooning for Joe. I mean how many alphas are going to research babies and learn everything so that he can be the best dad🥰

Fave quotes:
“I’m glad you’re Joy’s mother. That there even is a Joy.” He steps closer, wrapping his arms around both of us. “But mostly, I’m just glad to know you. Jessie the smart, sexy, kind, hilarious woman who also happens to be the mother of my child.”—-like I said…swoon y’all. He is a sweet, sexy alpha❤️

Live life so you don’t have regrets. My grandpa’s words hum in the back of my brain. The legacy is yours now, and I trust you to carry it on. Keep making me proud, son.—-I love that Joe is fiercely loyal & lives his life always striving to honor his grandfather. But more than that that he chooses his family while continuing to honor his grandfather💙❤️

A touching romance that wasn’t too heavy on the Christmas aspect with tasteful intimate scenes. Including flashbacks to the night Joe and Jessie got together is a challenge to do without interrupting the current flow of the story, but this author did it well. She also incorporated little details (like “Mama Clean” because Joe couldn’t pronounce “Colleen” when he was a kid) that made the story richer. There were a lot of side characters that caused me some confusion, along with the fact that this town is apparently some sort of social experiment where activities are being filmed (I never got that). And Joe seemed a little too perfect yet almost unbearably cute with his wide-eyed amazement at being a dad. :-) There was only one very short scene of Joe’s military service, and nothing dark about his experience as a SEAL. I wouldn’t call it a rom-com, but rather a solid romance with decent character development.

Meh

I have really enjoyed this series up to now. This one was just too focused on the baby (yes, which I get to a point). Also it was too focused on the non denominational free spirit all inclusive crap to the point I almost stopped. I get it that the author lives in Oregon but we just want a good story. Also, if you are going to focus on that at the very least get it right. Pentagrams don’t have anything to do with Satanism…unless they are up side down. Pentagrams are used liberally in the Wicca religion bc it is the personification of the human form. Wicca religion is based on peace and tranquility, Their first obligation is do no harm. Just FYI

All reviews posted at Tales of Love, Life, and Murder

This is the first book I’ve read in the Juniper Ridge series and for the first few pages, I was worried I was missing key background to fully enjoy this story, but that wasn’t the case at all. Joe drew me in right away with his love for his family and willingness to be a Nutmeg Bear but even if he hadn’t, I was a goner when he met baby Joy. Jessie is so conflicted and vulnerable because she was truly thrilled to see Joe again after this hot man rocked her world and disappeared, but as Joy’s father he’s also a threat because he’s the only person in the world who could lay claim to her child and disrupt the life Jessie has built for them.

Despite the heavy subject matter, this book is more humor than angst so it’s a fun read but still has emotions sprinkled through. Jessie and Joe are so good together but his lifestyle doesn’t lend itself to nurturing a marriage and family. All he’s ever wanted was to be a Navy SEAL and he’s lived that dream for a decade, but now he wants something else too and there’s no good way to reconcile those desires. Jessie has her own internal battle due to her own dangerous, demanding job. She gave it up a single mother but she misses it and isn’t ready to walk away from her work. Their careers make life complicated but they fit perfectly in every way. This is a short, sweet HEA with a lot of laughs that I really enjoyed. I received an ARC from Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review.

Back to Juniper Ridge for a little holiday novella that could be read any time of the year.

I have had a fun time reading/listening to all the Juniper Ridge books so far. The community and the way of life is like a small town all coming together for one another, but also being filmed. Show of Honor was Joe and Jessie's story and it started from a one night stand one year ago around Christmas time because of cancelled and delayed flights. But fast forward to one year later and they run into one another in this small town where Joe's moms live and where Jessie is staying before returning to Seattle and continuing her life of helping animals.

Show of Honor had us visiting past characters while concentrating on this new couple where one night one year ago changed their whole lives unexpectedly. Joe is a Navy Seal and is a stand up man. He is pretty dang perfect throughout this story. Almost too perfect after the news he receives. And Jessie is an older woman that has been left with many changes that she handles with ease. Everything was easy and fast paced to get to their HEA, but it's a novella. That's what it had to be about. Some things I had to suspend my beliefs on (for example, quitting the military so quickly is not done), but overall, it was just a nice and cute holiday read with minimal drama and good characters. I enjoyed that we had different cultures represented with Jewish holidays and two moms for Joe. Representation matters and these aspects were not just thrown in there willy nilly. It was made believable and part of these people's background.
With that said, I wasn't a real fan of the narrators as I listened to the audio. They didn't fit who I would've had in mind, but they still told the story well. I think reading the story would've had me enjoying this book a little more. Overall, a good read and it was nice being back in Juniper Ridge again.

Joe was raised by his two moms, living all over the world doing environmental work. It was definitely an unusual childhood but it helped give him a more open view of things. He’s kind, caring, and confident, supportive of others and understanding of their needs. This helps him when he comes face to face with Jessie again.

Jessie’s upbringing also has had an impact on her life. She’s independent and strong (maybe a bit too much sometimes), dedicating her life to making the world a better place. Sidelined by an unexpected pregnancy, she occasionally flounders just a bit but she’s handled the change in her plans well. And her grit helps out when introducing Joe to his daughter. It’s not easy but he quickly proves himself to be a stand-up guy, showing the right amount of patience & concern for her feelings and she finds his enthusiasm for fatherhood hard to resist (I did too!).

I really enjoyed Joe and Jessie’s story. It’s short and sweet but I was pleased with how everything worked out for them. Knowing how their relationship started, there was the expected amount of awkwardness but Fenske mixes it with a good amount of humor and fun. She also throws in enough emotions to make the insta-love connection believable and a good amount of heat to show why they hooked up in the first place. Rounding it out are all the feels of Joe falling for his daughter and Jessie learning to let him, all of which lead to a feel-good ending perfect for a holiday read.

(This is the first in this series that I’ve read and while there were a lot of characters from the rest of the series it can be read as a standalone.)

**I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**

I’ve never read a book by Tawna Fenske before, but when I read the book description of this novella I definitely loved the sound of it. So when I received an ARC, I was excited to start reading.

In ‘Show of Honor’ we read the story of Joe and Jessie. Joe and Jessie met last year at Christmas, and after an amazing night without exchanging names of contact information they both went on with their life. But they both thought about each other a lot. Especially when Jessie found herself being pregnant. Now, a year later they accidentally meet again and when Joe sees Jessie and sees his little girl for the first time, he knows he wants to be in their lives. Not for a night, but forever.

‘Show of Honor’ was definitely a fun read I enjoyed. The romance between Joe and Jessie was fun to read, and I loved their chemistry. I’m not always a fan of the surprise baby trope, but in this book it worked. To be honest, I found the moments between Joe and his little girl definitely the best of this book.

The two main characters Joe and Jessie where definitely amazing. I loved how fierce and tough Jessie was. She was a mom, and did everything for her little girl. But she also wanted to work, and I loved reading her story. Especially her struggles, because I could really relate with them as a mom myself.
And Joe was just very loveable. Kind, handsome, and his relationship with his moms.. I loved it.

‘Show of Honor’ was a short read that made me want to read more in this series. We read a bit about the other characters in this previous books.. and I’m definitely curious now.

Show of honor is set around the Christmas holiday, a surprise pregnancy book that is a sweet and  joyfull read.
A year after a spending a hot night together, Jess and Joe's have another faithful meeting in Juniper Ridge, the place her sister and his mothers call home. Only this time more than chemistry binds them. Joy is their own Christmas miracle, barely three months old, she instantly gains the love of her unsuspecting father.
Jess didn't think she'll ever find the man who fathered her daughter, she's set in being a single mother, so when she Joe turns out to be more than what she hopped for, the only thing making the situation uncertain is his career.
This is a sweet story about finding love in the most unexpected way. Jess was such a relatable character, all her wories and doubts are things probably every mother went through.
I must admit, I would have loved for Joy to have a bigger presence in the story, because I love children in a book.
Joe is a rare type of male character. I tried, but I didn't find him any fault. He loved and respected his parents, served for his country and stepped up to his role as a parent.
This book can easily be read as a standalone, I haven’t read the previous books but now I want to, because I loved the characters I've met.
It's the first book I've read from the author, definitely not the last.

I first discovered Tawna Fenske six years ago, and with the first book I was hooked (I’ve read over 30 of her books since then). What you will always get with a Tawna book are realistic, multi-dimensional characters, witty and realistic dialog, intriguing situations, and, yes, steamy romance.

Show of Honor, part of the Juniper Ridge series, is a Christmas/Hanukkah novella that, while a stand-alone, also includes many of the great characters from other Juniper Ridge books.
One year prior, stuck in an airport, Jessie and Joe have a passionate one-night stand that results in a pregnancy, and the birth of baby Joy. Fast forward a year, and through delicious twists of fate, both Jessie and Joe are at Juniper Ridge to spend the holidays with their respective families. The sparks from the year prior are still just as strong, but now they have a chance to get to know one another, and watching their lust turn to love is a wonderful part of the story. I really enjoy getting the back stories of the characters, which makes them even more believable for me. Best of all, there’s usually a “teaser” about the next book in the series, which already has me anxiously waiting for that release! I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I have absolutely loved this series and I love all this author writes but I must say I think this is my favorite so far. I really fell in love with Joe and Jessica and their story.

We met Jessica and her new born in the last book but the secrets she was keeping about the father of her child we did not know until now. This book is so well written and has that instant spark between these two characters you expect your reader to just melt while reading. They are destined to be together and just have to work out the details to get there. We get all the other great characters of Juniper Ridge all mixed in with their story and there are funny holiday moments as well as full on emotions that are thrown in. I loved that Jessica is a strong independent woman that doesn't need a man for herself or her daughter but she wants it all. I loved that Joe is a Navy SEAL and all man but has a tender heart too. I loved that he was raised to by two strong women and that this community shows nothing but love and acceptance for everyone. What a wonderful place Juniper Ridge would be to live and raise a family. There is also a hard lesson in this story of learning to live for yourself instead of trying to please others. It also shows us it is okay to change our paths in life, that what we once thought was our end all may not be after all and that's okay. We can choose to find our happy.

I received an early copy to read and review with my honest opinion, I loved this book and highly recommend it. It is part of the series Juniper Ridge but it is written as a stand alone. I do recommend the others in the series as well as they are all great and that way you get the full sense of all the characters as we go.

A little nice, a little naughty, and a lot wonderful!

Sometimes the very best Christmas gifts are a complete surprise. You didn't know for sure you wanted it, or even needed it, but now how do you live without it?! A year ago, Joe and Jessie had a holiday fling after being stranded in an airport. Now he's come home on leave to visit family, and discovers he's got more family than he knew about! Jessie-a dedicated Peace Corps volunteer-has had to make some sacrifices in the last year, but they were all worth it because she got her Christmas miracle. Does she dare hope she can have it all?!
It's been a long while since I've read anything by Tawna Fenske, but this novella reminded me why she was an auto-buy for so many years. Her stories are wildly entertaining-so many puns & one-liners had me giggling. Then came the heat-their one night stand wasn't a one-off. These two have major chemistry and know how to have fun! Finally, the heart-cue all the sighs. Joe is a big teddy bear (you'll see what I did there) and not afraid to share his emotions. He and Jessie are perfect for each other, and once they realize it there's no going back!
Show of Honor is a holiday novella that's a little nice, a little naughty, and a lot wonderful!

I really loved this novella, with all the feels of a Christmas novel, the quirkiness of the characters and the surprise of an unexpectated baby. In short this is a secret baby, second chance novel with the quirkiness I came to expect from Ms Fenske.
A year ago, last Christmas, Joe, a navy SEAL, met a wonderful girl who rocked his world and he wondered and hoped to see her again. He never imagined himself dressed in a bear costume, meeting her again and hearing he had become a dad.
Jessie does not trust Joe yet, but nobody can blame her. A year ago they hardly exchanged more than ten words before falling into bed that snowy night. So they were strangers to each other, who happen to have a child together. But both don’t regret their one night together because they found something together.
Joe can’t just ditch his military career, which he wanted his whole life. But he craves more, he craves a bond with his baby and heaps of happy memories they are making as they bond over giftwrap gaffes, sexy dreidel games and kisses hot enough to melt the mistletoe.
Jessie doesn’t want to totally give up her work either, but that means she can hop on a flight toot o help other countries. So they have to work with and trust each other that they can make a family together.

**Audiobook Review**
Show of Honor by Tawna Fenske was a fun and festive accidental pregnancy/ surprise baby romance novella that I didn't know I needed. Joe and Jesse have were such easy characters to fall in love with; not to mention, sweet baby Joy! I adore each and every visit to Juniper Ridge! Tawna does an amazing job with each couple that we meet. Joe and Jesse had a one night stand the last Christmas, and this Christmas on a sheer coincidence they run into each other again at Juniper Ridge. Little does Joe know, that he has a surprise baby that Jesse never got to tell him about. The story only heats up from there!

Craig Zagurski and Aleta Nissen narrate this audiobook. Both of these narrators were new to me, and overall I really enjoyed their performances. Craig did a great job portraying hunky Navel Seal Joe and his loving and eager personality to be the best dad and lover! Aleta did a fantastic job conveying all of Jesse's dedication and determination to be the best mom she could be for her daughter. Joe and Jesse have such a magnetic chemistry that made your heart swoon!

Overall, I enjoyed another visit to Juniper Ridge with Joe, Jesse, and Joy! I always look forward to more from Tawna Fenske!

*** AUDIOBOOK REVIEW***
4.5 Stars
I was so excited to listen to Jessie’s secret baby daddy story! The Juniper Ridge series was my introduction to Tawna Fenske and I have enjoyed it all. Show of Honor is a short holiday novella featuring Jessie and Joe. I fell in love with these two and their baby girl, Joy. They had an easy and instant connection from the first moment they meet to when they are finding their way into becoming an instant family. I loved the witty banter and the interactions with other characters was always fun.
Craig Zagurski and Aleta Nissen are two new to me narrators and overall they did a great job with this story. Craig did a fantastic job as the sexy and charming Navy Seal, Joe, showing Joe’s protectiveness and loving personality. Aleta’s performance as Jessie was great, but her male voice needs more fine tuning. At times is sounded too similar to Jessie’s and it got me confused who was talking. Overall, Tawna Fenske brings another beautiful, heartfelt Juniper Ridge love story that will make you swoon. Joe and Jessie had irresistible chemistry and their story will make your heart melt. Looking forward to more, especially Cooper and Amy’s story!

Great Read!!

Wow! Loved this story about two people who each thought they had their life basically mapped out, but then life happened in the form of cancelled flights, a steamy night and nine months later a baby… and no one had exchanged full names or phone numbers…. Sounds like a set up for anger and shame, but this story is far from that. I love how the author built this around a committed Navy Seal and a committed humanitarian & Peace Corps volunteer who accidentally reconnect (one year after that hot night night together) over the Christmas holiday while both are visiting family. Watching these two very realistic characters as they begin to get to know one another with Joe finding out he’s a father and Jessie grappling with sharing her (their) daughter, was both heartrending and heartwarming. Ms Fenske does an amazing job of getting the ‘issues’ expressed, discussed and explained as they unfold or seep out of each characters’ minds. Both Joe and Jessie deal with guilt, uncertainty and desires, as well as struggling to understand how things could possibly work with their life choices. Yet December is a month connected to many beliefs including miracles and love. And this story fits right in that theme.

Oh my heart! I honestly think that Show of Honor might be my favorite book in the Juniper Ridge series to date! I love that fate brought these two together after a magical night one year ago. Jessie was stuck on her way home for the holidays from her latest Peace Corps trip and Joe was in between missions as an active duty SEAL. They had one perfect night but both their lives were going in different directions so they didn't make any plans to keep in contact. Well fate brought these two together in Juniper Ridge when Joe comes home to visit his parents for the holidays and Jessie is in town visiting her sister with her surprise baby Joy in tow. Can these two make their dreams of a family and fulfilling careers work this time? This story warmed my heart. Is it over the top on the sweetness and kindness? Yes! Does the world need more of that? Also Yes! So if you're looking for a holiday second chance romance that is sweet, funny, heartwarming and has a touch of heat, then Show of Honor is the perfect book to pick up. It was told from dual POV and stands alone in the series but do yourself a favor and check them out too.
