Turning to Kaiden is terrifying, but he’s the only one I can let save me. What he wants in return is extreme. Marrying him is a high price to pay for a cash influx and some marketing help. I watched him grow up alongside my big brother. The nerdy kid with glasses grew into a hottie with tattoos I can't help but want to lick. I also watched the parade of women who were left crying in the wake of his love 'em and leave 'em reputation. There's no way he's the marrying type. Then... I wasn't supposed to find out he secretly funds a search & rescue operation. I wasn't supposed to see the terror on his face turn to relief during a rescue. But I did.
I’m starting to think my next door bad boy does have emotions.
I love a good romance story without problem exs happening. I don't mind a big brother trying to protect his little sister, but it didn't take over the whole story, which was a very nice change. A very enjoyable read!!
This marriage of convenience was so well done! That trope is not usually a fave of mine but Kassie Kline made me a believer. These two had history together which I love and it led to such a great connection. It was hot and heartfelt which we all know is the best combo.
She needs help and runs into Kaiden and he’s there to help her. He’s her brothers good friend and she watched him growing up as he has lots of women! But he offers her money in exchange for her marrying him. But she then finds out he’s not as he seems! Will it turn into more between them? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I didn't get past the second chapter. The fact that he said he never heard of her business, but it LITERALLY ACROSS THE STREET.
But then it's the "Marry me" and the loan is yours part that really gets me. One it's quite the jump scare in the first 10 pages. Two, he makes it sound like he knows the family well. He knows her well. That he messed up with her. Yet, you don't know her business is across the street?
This Cute little novella enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience that sparks their hidden desires for each other. Their history together definitely defines how quickly convenience turns into more than just a contract. Minor mafia vibes, I don’t really see this fitting into the bad boy next door vibes, considering he’s really just like a hard ass business man it wasn’t anything really bad or dark and his secret that was hinted at wasn’t something extreme and instead it was something more heartfelt. HEA. Overall the little spice was a good 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and the book was well written ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great story and opening to the Series of Bearberry Bay Rescue. 137 pages packed with action (ocean rescues), drama (powerful families with money to back them) and secrets being kept. Kaiden Amato is a wealthy and powerful man, he is also a gorgeous man and he knows it, women fall at his feet, but there has only ever been one and she is not obtainable to him. Camille Lucia wants a chance to prove to her father that she can make it on her own as a business owner. She needs a loan but because of many things the bank will not give her the loan. Her only hope is her brother’s best friend, her parents best friends/neighbor’s son and her crush from when she was a teenager, the only man that has ever broken her heart, Kaiden Amato. Every page of this book had me wanting more. Diving into this series and getting lost in the growing story of this lovely little Maine town. Where everyone takes care of everyone but it still has big city problems. The back stories of the characters, the easter egg leading to the next book in the series. This book can be read as a standalone but really who would not want to continue to read about the GORGEOUS People of the FREEDIVER RESCUE TEAM and the town that supports its people. Kassie Kline Thank you for your creative way you write had me wanting more. Each page that turned and chapter I finished I just wanted more. I got lost in Bearberry Bay, Maine and didn’t want to leave.
Love Makes it Real - Cami was desperate when she went to see Kaiden for help with her business, as he had always been a jerk towards her, so she was shocked when he proposed a marriage of convenience for their mutual benefit. The agreement was meant to be on a platonic basis, but Cami’s long held crush on Kaiden led to her pushing for more. However, their feelings for each other grew as they spent more time together in close proximity, but their insecurities made them hold back on confessing.
Unfortunately, not everyone accepted the union between Cami and Kaiden, which led to a situation where both their lives were in jeopardy. Luckily, they were able to not only survive the ordeal, but also finally acknowledge their love for each other and work towards the happy life they deserved. This was a delightfully entertaining and steamy romance story, that grabbed my attention from the first page and kept me engaged until I read the final word. It is a definite must read book.
I received a copy of this book free and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this story. Kaiden the bad boy, also Cami's teenage crush, is the only person she thinks she can turn to, as she tries to keep her failing bakery afloat. Cami and Kaiden have a history, so when they strike up a deal and sign a contract, with Kaiden rescuing her bakery for her hand in marriage, it is a fake relationship, second chance at romance, slow burn love at its finest. You will enjoy the angst and the banter that occurs throughout the book and when it finally becomes steamy, on their honeymoon, there is no going back for them both. Unfortunately for Kaiden, he waits too long for Cami to profess her love to him and an accident that leaves both their lives in the balance, makes him realize his mistake. He put himself in harms way to protect what was his and finds himself in hospital, with Cami, both injured from a boating accident. How do their feelings come to light? Who professes their undying love to the other first? Overall a great read that I am sure all who read it will enjoy!
While the idea for the story was good, it felt like each chapter was just a loose plot point. Where’s the romance, the couple truly building a relationship. It felt like I was just checking into someone’s life for a second and leaving without getting a full story. It’s not that it was bad but it definitely left more to be desired.
2.5 Stars I don’t expect much from novellas as they’re obviously short, and therefore the depth is limited, so it’s rare for them to rate more than 3 stars for me (and 3 stars is a good book to me. Not great, not terrible. One star is terrible, and it’s very rare that I rate books that low. Similarly, 5 stars is phenomenal, so that, too is rare. Most books rate 3-4 stars for me). This book was just alright for me. It’s a fairly quick read, which can be really nice sometimes. It just fell a bit short on the plot, believability, and some of the grammar & word choice/phrasing. (For a bit-picky example of some of the phrasing I felt read a bit awkwardly, one part had “in the blink of a moment”, rather than “a blink of an eye” which is typically how that saying is used. 🤷🏼♀️
For an enemies to lovers this is a fantastic story. Kaiden has loved Cami forever but has promised her family he would not do anything about it until she was ready. Cami has loved Kaiden forever and when she needs some financial assistance she seeks him out. He’ll help but only if she marries him. This a an excellent story well written with in depth characters, some laughs and steam and I loved it. Perfect HEA too.
This book was ok, the storyline did need a bit of work, it didn’t really flow and the characters were not that interesting. The title is also slightly misleading, he lived next door to her when they were kids, not anymore. And it goes back and forth between the marriage being fake and it not, him wanting real feelings but also not and keeping his distance. And how did she not talk to him about the promise he made to her dad?
Cami needs a favor from Kaiden and he wants something for her is well, so naturally the only solution is for her to marry him. Who doesn’t love a contract marriage? The tension between them was very obvious and their banter was cute too. It was much more emotional than I was expecting, but flowed so well with their story.
This book is the perfect length for that quick read! It’s not your typical cheesy romance. There’s a wonderful depth of characters despite the novella length, just enough steaminess, and some interesting excitement. Great introduction to Kassie Kline!
This is the first Kassie Kline book I’ve read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Marriage of convenience between childhood crush/nemesis. Secret good guy under a bad boy armor. I look forward to reading more of her books.
This was my first Kassie Kline book, it will not be my last. I could not put this down! There was no sleep that night 😂 the chemistry between the FMC and MMC was on point! Absolutely loved the story line and cant wait to read more!
This book was ok not my normal read. But it had a great story line it’s moved in different directions. If your into fast past books then this is totally for you. But I would add it totally your tbr just to read it.
Again on the short side and skipped a few days/months so at points it was like hang on what happened with that day’s events etc. etc. but I did like the drama plot twist at the end! Unexpected and made me gasp! Enjoyed the story plot and characters tho.
Kaiden and Cami's story was so good!!! Some twists made for an excellent story. Couldn't get over the main twist and the length Kaiden went to to save Cami.
The amount of dialogue between the two characters could probably fit on 5 pages. Tons of explaining and not a lot of showing. The end was crazy abrupt.
This is such a good story. It is told about two young people who fell for each other at such a young age. Here is the dilemma they were neighbors first off, and he was her older brother’s, Jacob Lucia’s, best friend, Kaiden Amato. There’s also an issue of a small age gap between them.
Not to mention, when she graduated high school, her father had asked him for a favor concerning, Cami. He wanted to ask it he said, before Kaiden decided when and if he still wanted a relationship with Cami. They hadn’t spoken in years. He took what her father said seriously. So, he made her hate him in the way, a girl on the playground hates the boy, who hurts her feelings.
Although, knows she could never hate him because she loves him. She just removed herself from the equation and went to NY, for culinary school. Although now she is back home and runs a successful bakery, but needs a cash boost for marketing. Therefore, she needs a loan. Her parents are wealthy and so is she, if she wants to touch her trust fund.
Here’s the thing, she wanted to secure a loan on her own. If she went to her dad or brother, they would just gift it to her. Not what she wanted. She needed to do this by herself. If she goes to a bank, they will find out. Then, she will be back where she started.
So, she was going into the enemy camp. She has to try and get what she needs, which is an influx of cash to grow. But, it's what Kaiden wanted from her, that stops her heart for a beat. Once she figured out his angle and how it benefits him, she’s all in. To agree to give her what she wanted was a huge plus.
However, if Kaiden thought she was the naive girl he left behind, he is crazy. Their love was a beacon of what was in their hearts once they let their guard down. However, it almost took a tragedy to allow them to see just how much they truly care. Don’t miss this read.
Cami has loved Kaiden for years, but he just teases her to make her angry. In fact, he does care for her, but he promised her father years ago that he would let her grow up before making advances. When she comes to him for a business loan, he proposes a fake marriage to facilitate the merger of their 2 families. What starts as fake becomes a sweet love story. I recommend this book.
Loved the storyline, and the time frame felt real for what it was suppose to be a quick engagement loved that! I just wish there didn't have to be some major omg they might die moment for them to finally admit their feelings for each other! I feel it's more real when it happens randomly. But it's still a great read and loved all the characters
