Beware the Iron Road

Rate this book
What do you get when you add a shy witch with a disability to a house full of grumpy vampires, lusty werewolves, and other magickal creatures?

Carsen Cromwell is about to find out.

Out of options and desperate for answers, Carsen risks everything to seek treatment for a magickal autoimmune disease that is running her life. A vampire skilled in medical magick promises to search for the elusive cure to Carsen's condition, offering the shred of hope she needs. In exchange, all Carsen has to do is live in the vampire's remote home to teach a tween werewolf how to manage her emerging powers.

There's only one catch.

She'll have several other housemates, including Keaton, a grumpy vampire whose bite might be worse than his bark, and Frankie, an unusually cheerful werewolf who is all animal when she makes the Turn. Carsen is attracted to each of them immediately and wonders if she signed on for more than she can handle.

It feels like Keaton and Frankie are both falling for Carsen, but can she let herself love them back? This house full of vulnerable vampires and witchy werewolves holds history and secrets that Carsen can only guess at.

Beware the Iron Road is a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers polyamorous romantic fantasy brimming with romantic tension, unique found family dynamics, queer love, vulnerability, and powerful magick. This book will appeal to readers who can't get enough character-driven romantasy such as that found in Twilight, House in the Cerulean Sea, A Court of Thorns and Roses, and Shadow & Bone. This book contains content related to chronic illness, chronic pain, some self-hatred, and some disordered eating.

About the author

Katherine Watson

4 books5 followers
Due to listening to too much Taylor Swift as a child, Katherine believes every story anyone ever tells is about romance. She integrates love into all of her work, from her nonfiction pieces to her poetry collection to her various novels. A librarian by day and an author by night, these days she writes romance and fantasy novels, sometimes both at the same time. She spends most of her time having conversations about love and our incredible magical capacity for it.

I might be biased because my flatmate (former in reality, forever in spirit) wrote this, but she’s BRILLIANT—and so is “Beware the Iron Road.”
