In a world draped in shadows, I was just a med student with an extraordinary talent. My existence was relatively quiet, bound by my devotion to my little brother, Felix, until one fateful night brought danger to our doorstep.
In swept the notorious Leclair brothers, as dark and tempting as the world they ruled. My brother’s debts had summoned them, and my life was their payment. Damien, the cold and commanding leader; Lucien, the charming persuader; and Rafe, the brutish protector - they gave me a Become their personal physician in a ruthless fight club or watch Felix pay the price.
I chose survival, stepping into their mansion of secrets and their underground pit of violence. Their savage world was far from the sterile hospital halls I was used to, but I held my own. As I navigated the dangerous labyrinth of their lives, a connection sparked between us. Unconventional, electrifying, and more dangerous than the enemies lurking in the shadows.
When Ivy, a young med student finds out her brother is in debt to a crime family called the Leclairs she’s left with no option but to give up her own hopes and dreams and agree to work for them as a medic in order to save her brother. Only once she lives with the Leclair brothers, it becomes less about losing herself and more about finding love.
The story had a great premise and such potential, but unfortunately, it missed the mark in my opinion and whilst enjoyable to an extent; I found the writing disjointed and it left me feeling lacking rather than desperate for the next book.
Up until around a third of the way through the book the interactions between Ivy and the brothers were minimal and lacked depth or detail to develop a relationship yet as a reader we are supposed to just accept that there was something between them all and from the moment Ivy encounters their enemy Xavier she suddenly becomes theirs and a lot of their time together is spent being intimate although these scenes felt repetitive and rushed.
We are led to believe that the Leclair brothers are a scary entity and the epitome of a crime family. However, other than a few shady fights, we don’t get to witness any of this. Whilst their enemy Xavier has ‘goons’ and men on his side, the brothers seem to lack any support, and if they have any, it isn’t mentioned, with them always charging into fights alone rather than with backup. It also begged the question of why, if they were so dangerous, they didn’t have protection for their loved ones like their younger sister, or why Ivy was able to just walk around the city aimlessly and be approached by others and even taken. It just seemed like there were large gaps in the plot and certain things were unnecessarily prioritised over developing the plot, world and characters.
I really wanted to love this as it had the opportunity to be amazing, mixing some of my favourite tropes, but sadly, it just wasn’t for me.

I really like the concept of "The Debt"; a med student, forced to become the medic to an illegal fighting ring after her brother took a loan he couldn't afford. Three hot brothers, some dangerous and thrilling experiences, ... It has everything to potentially become an awesome story! For readers who prefer their books short and spicy, I believe it is exactly that. Me personally, I would have prefered 25 000 words extra to add to the plot of this story. There are some parts that feel glossed over, or even entirely skipped to get to the spicy scenes quicker. I tend to prefer plot over spice, but for those who feel differently, this is probably exactly what they want.
Besides that, I can only say positive things about this book. It's well edited, has some interesting characters, and it's filled with action and spice pretty much from start to finish. The ending I would classify as a HFN since this is marketed as a standalone, but it feels like there could be more to their story in the future. Or maybe another story with Felix, where part of the storyline continues? We'll have to wait and see
Sometimes we find ourselves giving up everything for family our girl Ivy is a gifted med student with one dream becoming a doctor until that dream is derailed by her brother getting himself into trouble with a know crime family owing them money that neither of them can pay back and so giving up her own dreams to pay back the debt owed she has to become their personal medic for their illegal fighting ring. The three sexy as all get out Leclair brothers loaned the hot doctors brother money knowing he couldn’t pay it back so of course they did their due diligence she was a brilliant doctor one they needed for their fighters and so accepting her services in return for his loan. The thing is they didn’t expect to care for the little doctor nor she for them and when trouble heads their way will they protect her, will she ever pay of the loan owed by her brother, will it be as bad as she is thinking, does she become the doctor she dreamed of becoming, and is there happiness for this group?
Ivy is a dedicated Med student working her way to her dream of being a doctor. She goes above and beyond, wanting to learn everything possible. Her younger brother, Felix, finds himself in debt to a notorious crime family. When the crime family comes knocking to collect the debt, Ivy finds herself having no choice but to take the proposition offered to her to clear her brother's debt. Ivy finds herself becoming their full time medic in a world she is very unfamiliar with. Face to face with Damien, Lucien and Rafe and their life of crime might just be to much for Ivy to handle, especially when violence and possible death are knocking on their door. Great book, ends on a cliffhanger. Can't wait to see what's in store for them next!.

I really tried to give this book a higher rating but there were just too many inconsistencies that kept pulling me out of the story. The author also did a lot of telling versus showing and I found myself skipping over large chunks of the story. Also, if you are worried about protecting what is your why on Earth is the girl you all are interested in and your little sister without bodyguards? it had the potential but it just wasn't there for me.

When Ivy's brother takes out a loan from the Leclair brothers it will change her life. She was preparing to become a doctor when her brother's loan became due, and he couldn't pay. To keep him safe she entered into an agreement with the Leclair brothers not knowing that feelings would come into play between her and the brothers. This story kept me glued to the pages with the nonstop action to see how it all ends between Ivy and the Leclair brothers.

I had really high hopes with this reverse, harem mafia book. I just felt super underwhelmed from the beginning. We don’t really get much character development for any of the characters. Almost I mmediately, as soon as the story starts, Ivy is pulled into this mafia world. We’re not even given any sort of buffer. Pretty much it’s Insta love with all of the main male characters. I don’t know. I just feel like the story could’ve been really good, but it was really rushed, and skipped right to the action.

Where should I start. I fell in love with the LeClair brothers and the whole plot of the story. There is forced proximity, reverse harem, betrayal, romance, kidnapping, spice, it's dark, it's sweet. It ticked so many boxes. I loved Aurora Ashe's writing, it's beautifully written and I read it in less than a day.

The Debt is the first book that Ive read by this writer and I really enjoyed reading it.
Medical Student Ivy (FMC) finds herself in the hands of the Leclair brothers - Damien, Lucien and Rafe when her brother Felix amasses a debt that he cant pay off. Leaving her to work for them as payment. All of which puts her in a position where she's in the middle of the Leclair's dark world and lots of steamy scenarios come from it. A good read.
Some of the scenes and descriptions were super repetitive. I enjoyed the idea of the plot, however, several times I was left asking 'how did we get there?'.
I really liked this book but it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger and there's no sign of a book 2, so that peed me off as I was itching to find the follow up.
This book followed Ivy, a med student who is left repaying her brothers debt after he goes in debt to the Leclairs. It is a steamy and dark reverse harem.
Personally, I do like the concept although I feel as though it is overused. I would never pass the opportunity to read a good old debt repayment, except they usually have to have a unique twist. I feel as though this book lacked anything special to not make it like all the others and the added inconsistencies throughout the book did not help its cause at all.
I did like parts of this book, and the Leclairs although at time things were blown way out of proportion. How was their sister able to follow them? There was just so much missed out.
Ultimately, I did like the book to an extent. I do not believe I'd be reading anything from this publisher again as I have read a few arcs from this Publishing company and all seem to follow a rugged and inconsistent structure, which I do not enjoy.
