Olivia’s once happy life is nowhere near happy any longer. Trapped in a marriage with a monster, all she can do is try to hold on. Escape isn’t an option. Not unless she wants to risk her entire family not to mention her best friend and boss, Will. As things at home continue to escalate, the one place she feels safe at is work, with Will, which doesn’t help her keep her old feelings for him at bay.
And when nothing can continue to seal the cracks constantly forming, and everyone she loves uncovers the truth, it’s just the beginning, rather than the end to her heartache. The only way out of this was to face the monster directly, and hope she comes out in one piece.
With the tragedy of her marriage over, she can finally begin to pick up the pieces. Or attempt to at least. With everyone knowing her business, just getting through the day is nearly impossible, even with help from her family and Will. When Will offers her the chance to get away from everything, she jumps on it, especially when it means being near him more. Nothing’s likely to come from it, but at least she’ll be near him.
Will left it too late to realize how he felt about Olivia. Even if at one time it seemed like he might have a chance to worm his way between Olivia and Scott, after what happened to her, he’s surely lost it now. It won’t stop the way he feels. He’s loved her all this time and he knows now that he’ll love her always.
He’s willing to be patient, to simply be there for her, love her regardless of what may come of it. If there’s even the slightest chance of her loving him in return one day, he’ll risk it. He’ll risk everything for her, to be with her. After what she endured, risked for him, he’ll wait patiently and hope that she’ll love him again one day, be able to love him in every way. The way he’ll never stop loving her.
With strong language, some very heavy emotional material, and a HEA (I promise), Love Her Always is approximately 40,850 words. It is intended for an adult audience and may include subjects that are sensitive to some readers.
discussions of abuse and assault, along with possible self-harm, and depression throughout the story
I don’t give out 5⭐ ratings often, but this book absolutely delivered. ❤️
I do want to give a little warning to anyone who may be sensitive to the subject matter: the domestic violence is graphic at times. As a DV survivor myself, I found it painfully realistic. Some of Olivia’s experiences hit very close to home, and there were moments that were genuinely difficult to read. That is also what made this story so powerful for me.
This book follows Olivia, whose husband is a master manipulator. Behind closed doors, he is incredibly violent and controlling, while presenting himself to the outside world as the perfect husband. That contrast, the person everyone else sees versus the reality Olivia lives every day, was heartbreaking. The author did such an incredible job of showing how easily abuse can be hidden behind a carefully crafted image.
Then there’s Will, Olivia’s childhood friend and boss. He slowly realizes that he’s in love with her, but because he believes she’s happily married, he would never dream of crossing that line. I really loved the way his feelings developed and how much he genuinely cared about Olivia.
What really got me about this book was how real the characters felt. Olivia didn’t feel like a fictional character going through a storyline; at times, she felt like a real person trying to survive something incredibly difficult. The author captured the fear, manipulation, confusion, and isolation of an abusive relationship in a way that felt very authentic to me.
This one definitely put me through some emotions. There were moments when I wanted to scream, moments when my heart broke for Olivia, and moments when I just wanted her to finally catch a break.
And thankfully, we get that happy ending. ❤️ It was a long, emotional road to get there, but it was absolutely worth the wait.
The characters were incredibly well-developed, the emotions felt genuine, and the story stayed with me long after I finished reading. As someone who has experienced DV, I truly appreciate when an author handles such a difficult subject with this much realism and care.
I absolutely love that this authors writes books that are hard emotionally, but so amazing. These characters aren't perfect, have flaws, but it makes them more real. This story had so much emotional feels, and strength.
The best book this author has ever written, so far. A very hard topic to write and read about. I'm glad the bad guy was well taken care of. Good ending and epilogue.
