The old world is gone. Now, one family must endure the hellish aftermath…
Laurel is stabilizing a patient in the ER when the power goes out. When the rest of the hospital evacuates, she refuses to leave her patients behind—especially her sick mother. She’s determined to fight for their lives. Even if it means putting her own in danger…
In a remote mountain cabin hundreds of miles away, Laurel’s husband, Bear, begins a grueling trek across Minnesota. He’ll do whatever it takes to reunite his family. But it’s a dangerous journey, and he’s all alone save for his loyal dog, Jessamine, and Trent, an orphaned boy he finds along the way.
Meanwhile, their daughter Mae has joined up with a violent militia, and grapples with divided loyalties. The Militia have unearthed weapons of war that survived the EMP. And they’re ready to launch a bloody conflict that could shatter the fragile remnants of order her family has struggled to rebuild.
Bear, Laurel, and the others just want peace. But peace—and survival— won’t come without a fight.
Grace Hamilton is the prepper pen-name for a bad-ass, survivalist momma-bear of four kids, and wife to a wonderful husband. After being stuck in a mountain cabin for six days following a flash flood, she decided she never wanted to feel so powerless or have to send her kids to bed hungry again. Now she lives the prepper lifestyle and knows that if SHTF or TEOTWAWKI happens, she’ll be ready to help protect and provide for her family.
Combine this survivalist mentality with a vivid imagination (as well as a slightly unhealthy day dreaming habit) and you get a prepper fiction author. Grace spends her days thinking about the worst possible survival situations that a person could be thrown into, then throwing her characters into these nightmares while trying to figure out "What SHOULD you do in this situation?"
It’s her wish that through her characters, you will get to experience what life will be like and essentially learn from their mistakes and experiences.
Broken World Bk1: Broken World is book one and a great start to the EMP Aftermath series. In this book we get Laura and Bear's story. I love Grace Hamilton's books with the "What would you do" realistic scenarios about how people react during and after an EMP event. As always this author gave us believable characters, descriptive writing, and a page turning, action packed story that I didn't put down until the last page. After that ending I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens next. Chaotic World Bk2: Chaotic World is book two of the EMP Aftermath series and it picks up where book one left off. With each book in this series we get more about the characters and what they have to do to survive the EMP Aftermath. Laurel and Bear are still separated as he tries to find Laurel and she is trying to keep her family and herself alive. Grace Hamilton has once again written a gripping and original " it could really happen" scenarios that make this a page turning read from the first page until the last. I look forward to reading the next book in this series to find out what happens next for this group of survivors. Dangerous World Bk3: Dangerous World is book three of the EMP Aftermath series and it picks up where book two left off so you should definitely read the first two books before this one otherwise you will be lost. While being hunted by enemies Laurel and Bear are determined to reunite and winter has hit Minnesota. Once again Grace Hamilton gives the readers realistic it-could-happen scenarios action packed with danger, suspense, unexpected twists, descriptive writing, and captivating storylines. Divided World Bk4: Laurel and Bear are back in book four of the EMP Aftermath series. I definitely recommend you start reading this series from book one so you fully understand what the characters have been through. If you have ever read a Grace Hamilton book then you know what to expect as she gives the readers realistic and gripping it could really happen scenarios and this book does exactly that. From the captivating storylines and descriptive writing to the believable characters, danger, and unexpected twists this series is page turning. The cliffhanger ending has left me ready for book five Collapsed World. Collapsed World Bk5: Collapsed World is book five of the EMP Aftermath series and it picks up where book four Divided World left off. With each book we read in this series Bear, Laurel, and the rest of the group are challenged time after time but they must do what they can to survive the aftermath. Faced with their daughter's dangerous choices Laurel and Bear are determined to win Mae back. This is a well written, page turning story that held me captive for two days until I finished the book and now I wait for the final book in this series to find out how it ends. Lawless World Bk6: Bear, Laurel, Trent, and Mae are reunited only to find out they have one more epic battle left and they join with the Freemen against the Militia. Great writing, danger, nail biting suspense, unexpected twists, and well developed characters make this a great read. I am completely captivated by this author's writing and I look forward to reading her next series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
EMP Aftermath is a captivating tale of a doctor's resilience in the face of a power outage. Laurel, the protagonist, stays on the job even as others abandon their posts, determined to care for her patients, including her mother, who is hospitalized with cancer.
This intense and mesmerizing story had me hooked from the start, as the author's exceptional world-building and vivid descriptions brought the narrative to life. The author's talent for storytelling is evident, and I found myself eagerly turning the pages, eager to see what would happen next.
The EMP Aftermath series has the potential to make a thrilling transition to the screen, whether as a movie or a TV show. The captivating premise and the author's ability to craft a compelling and immersive world make it a prime candidate for adaptation.
The characters in this dystopian tale are captivating, even the villains, who play a vital role.
I highly recommend checking out EMP Aftermath for an engaging adventure in this thrilling, post-apocalyptic world. It's a must-read for fans of the genre!
I enjoyed reading this 6 book series. The main characters were endearing, good and likable. Laurel, Bear, Trent, Mae. And then there were characters that were not nice, evil and greedy. Parts of the books were exciting, happy, sad and scary. Lots of shootouts that reminded me of the old westerns. And there were some slow, boring parts. By the time I got to book 6, I was ready for the drama to end. I would suggest, though, that if you read these books, read them in order. The storyline flows from one book to the next…almost like one high chapter book.
I loved each book, read them individually and then as a box set. I’d love to read one more book, to find out what happened after the end. It feels a little unfinished. Just in I’d like to hear more about the two groups after so many years apart. Go on, you’ll love this series too especially if you love the authors other work and EMP post apocalyptic stories.
This book was very good. There was so much happening that you always were excited to see what happened next. There were some surprises throughout. Loved all the main characters even their flaws. Would definitely recommend this book. Grace Hamilton wrote another great story.
I've read many EMP apocalypse series. This one is one of the best for character building. The characters just suck you right in and maintain the action throughout all six books. Family values are foremost and much less like a teaching series.. Just a different kind of read that I totally enjoyed.
Interesting characters that kept the story flowing. The main protagonists were a little too stereotypical and predictable. Over the top crazy. But there were enough good guys with interesting stories. Bear wasn’t your typical Rambo you find in many of these type of books. He wasn’t a superhuman fighting machine able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.
This is a really good EMP series! I enjoyed all of these stories, be warned there are reasonably high levels of angst in these books. Overall, well written good ideas, lots of actions! A really good read!
This is a great collection for you that enjoy post apocalyptic reads. It was nice to have them all in one place so you didn't have to wait for the next to come out. Entertaining reads.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A good read. Likable characters that you grow fond of. While a bit too unrealistic in many places, regarding human behavior and the need to deal with that behavior more harshly, overall I would recommend and probably read again.
Formulistic EOTWAWKI. There was no preamble it just jumped too abruptly into disaster. Probably an AI writer... Purchased a set of six books for $0.99. Purchased this item on September 17, 2023.
It was a feel good book.. not like all of this emp types I have read.. I do like them all. Learning a little with everyone JUST IN CASE!!! Collecting rice and beans!!🫘 LOL
