To know me is to love me. My identity begins with my name but makes a statement with my pen. I'm a mother of two and a wife of one. My love for writing began at the age of two. That's right I first wrote my name at the age of two and I've been writing ever since. Growing up I always felt invisible. I suffered from that 'Middle Child Syndrome', so when my voice wasn't heard, I made my own story. My journal and my pen became my companion. I would write stories where my characters looked like me (thick, tall, and pretty), they loved to read, was educated, and realistic. The older I got the more my imagination grew, which caused my stories to be more diverse. Becoming an author came about in an unintentional way. I've been through many things in my adult life. My husband, who's my backbone, has always admired my strength. We suffered a devastating loss, our daughter. My husband urged me to tell my story, to be a light for someone else. I took him up on his advice and wrote my pains and truths. I love weaving stories, touching readers with relatable characters and situations. I give life lessons, unconditional love, dedication, a little crazy, and a whole lot of truth. I have a saying that I live by; 'I don't just write books;I tell stories'.
Captain & Boston’s relationship gets a 10/10 for sure! I loved everything about it!
The storyline was very good! However, there were sooooo many errors! I dealt with it because the story was so good, but it was rough 😬😬! If this goes back through editing, it would definitely be a 4-4.5 ⭐️ read.!
I thought this book was great. I enjoyed Boston and Captain story. They were great together. Boston was a true boss and a sister or friend I would love to have in my life. I loved how she stood her ground and didn't take any mess off of anyone. I would tell family and friends about this story. You did a great job on this hook. Keep writing like this. Ms. Sumter and I'll be your fan for always.
Kendra you have done it again!! I loved the love at first sight connection of Captain and Boston. The fact that she was Boss in her own right was amazing. He just stepped in to be the strong, loving, protector she needed. No matter what negativity was thrown at them; they believed and trusted each other to pull through it. That fight scene was everything😀. Loved it!!!
Absolutely loved this standalone. Captain was no joke and meant everything he said. Brazil was a spoiled, jealous sick person and there was no need for any of it, her sister would have done anything for her and have been so for her to treat her that way was crazy and on top of that to have her father all the supporting her bad deeds he truly was blind in the end she got all she deserved and then some. Happy Boston had and kept the faith she was indeed a strong g woman that believed that holding on to hate, grudges would only block her blessings which in turn she received blessings upon blessings. So glad Captain didn't back down when it came to his family because his sister I think was in love with him because no one was good enough and she figured if she hooked up one of her friends with Captain she would still be in control of him those sisters were just unbelievable. Wish I could have found men like Captain and Mal when I lived in South Carolina lol great story.
Let me just get this out first... I Google how to say Ifeanyichukwu so many times and still have to take my time pronouncing it, but I think I got it, lol. I loved this author because she does not play at all. The characters are always relatable, someway and funny so I like that. Bossy was definitely that girl. Her and Devon. I loved their relationship because I am like that why my best friend. We don't play about each other. I am glad she has someone that is truly there for her no matter the circumstances. When Captain came along it only brightened her life, things were more grand. Even if it was only her energy. Cap was definitely a man's man but I loved how expressive he and Mal were. There was no holding back but I just believe it was due to the nature of their feelings for the ladies. Never a disappointment!!
First thing first. If I could give an extra ten stars I would. I fell in love with Captain the minute he knew something was bothering Boston. That man was everything I want in a man. Boston was such a sweetheart and I loved how she gave everyone who deserved it their props. Now Brazil was on my hit list. I wanted her to suffer a slow death, I'll settle for what she got. Devon was true definition a best friend. I loved she always had Boston back. I don't know if I would have been as quick to forgive my father as Boston did. And Captain knocked his father out was a sure sign of true love for your woman. Awesome job Kendra! Oh and one More thing. Devon and Maleko were a cute couple too.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I wanted to like this book so bad. First, there was the grammar errors throughout the book. Then there was the unnecessary detail of the same thing over and over. Example of how everyone came into the kitchen and washed their hands and then fixed a plate. She would do that for every sine person that entered the room. Like we get it they washed their hands before eating! I was not the big of a fan of captain he was willing to kill a woman and put his hands on one was not okay to me. Brazil and the party scene was to much.
I’ve read quite a few of this authors books. I like the story lines but it’s getting harder and harder to read them. The grammatical errors are getting worst if that’s even possible. Mixing pronouns and even words are stuff I don’t care to ignore. Ex: he instead of she. Glazing instead of Gazing (this one she doesn’t in every single one of her books). At this point I feel like if she at least read her own book before publishing, there would be no errors (at least I hope so).
This is by far one of the most exciting and warm stories I have read in a while, even though I have yet to do Captains real name justice!!!!!!!I love reading about BBW that are not only successful but love who they are.I have read some of the earlier books, keep telling good stories.Boston and Devon are strong characters.Boston enjoys what she does and is making a big difference in her clients. lives!!!!! Mrs Sumter you have a fan for life, I plan to keep reading your stories!!!!!!!
This book had potential. It wasn't so bad to where I had to stop reading it but there was quite a few errors and I got sooo tired of them saying beyond the bling, like I gets its the title but come on now. I also didn't like How they would skip a good scene only for it to be a flashback and it kind of tainted the ending for me by ending with Brazil. But I did love the 2 relationships in this book and how well they stuck together.
This was a really good read. Those sisters tho...Jealousy is ugly. I enjoyed that the leading ladies had a great head on the shoulders...the men I liked but they bite really stand out... karma showed out though and that was really the theme of the storyline. All in all a good complete story.
Kendra you are a great writer I enjoyed the storyline and most of the characters except that Brazil. But we all know that we have someone out there who doesn't want to see us succeed. But God conquers all and there are good loving Godly men out there looking for their good loving Godly women.
Loaded with great storytelling. I loved the characters and I felt like I was there with them. Whew the things that went on were scary. I won't go into detail because you've got to read this book and let it all unfold. I highly recommend.
You never fell to come thru. Excitement from beginning to the end. Can't wait for what'll come up with next. If you've ever in Detroit I hope to get a chance to meet you. On pins and needles waiting.😘😍
This story had me shaking my head. The storyline has a steady flow, is interesting, and has some likeable, well developed characters. For a sister to be so jealous of her sister was just crazy. Even though this is a real life issue for some. I definitely enjoyed her downfall.
Mrs. Sumter, you have done it again, Girl!! I could not put this book down, not did I want to! You had me captivated from the 1st chapter. Bossy and Captain are my favorites so far!
Beautiful story! I was expecting Brazil to get death! ( I know that’s bad to say but she need something). Capt sister is no better. Devon is a TRUE friend. I’m glad the truth was revealed. O & damn they having them babies lol!
You never disappoint this was a page turner for me like it's the audacity for me. Brazil was something else, but I love that Bossy and Devon found love .
YESS i loved it!! i would have gave it five stars but the constant POV switch every chapter made me upset. Bossy and Captain had a wonderful relationship and didnt leg nobody stop them!
The plot was good. The author just didn't execute it good enough. It was so many grammatical errors. I skipped a lot of chapters. Timeline was off. It was just.....
I didn’t know ones sister could be so evil! Brazil had a hard on for Bossy and I’m still trying to figure out why when she was her protector. Ok ok JEALOUSY!! Bossy and Captain was that couple and I loved them together! Yasss I loved this read
