There are a million ways to end up in the Alien Bride Lottery, but it takes only one.
Every unmarried female human over the age of 21 gets entered once a year. I have to say that I first clicked on this book because the cover was so eye catching. I was pleasantly surprised. This was much better than I expected. It wasn't as cheesy as some alien bride match books and it wasn't so goo-goo, gah-gah instalovey either. It did happen in a short time but Natalie really didn't want to be involved at all and endeavored to lose in the bride games and be sent back home to earth. Once Cav gets up close to Natalie and also gets her scent, he knows she is his mate but knows he has to woo her and not push too hard otherwise he will lose her. I don't want to give everything away but it's not your typical alien mate novel. It's a sweet and light-hearted quick read.

Entered in the Alien Bride Lottery is book one in the Khanavai Warrior Bride Games by Margo Bond Collins.
This reminded me of the Bachelorette and Bachelor TV shows rolled into one. I don’t watch those shows and have no desire too. I’m not a fan of the Game Show set up. No real plot and the characters are weird and annoying. I never connected to either the hero or heroine. The whole story felt rushed and not flushed out well.
All and all it was just ok! Not my cup of tea. The epilogue isn’t really an epilogue it’s the start of the next book. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

From the moment Natalie gets pulled into the Khanavai Bride Lottery, the stakes and sparks fly. Cav immediately won me over. He’s protective, respectful, and genuinely invested in her well-being from their very first meeting. I loved how he didn’t just see her as a prize to claim but as a partner to cherish, even giving her the choice to walk away toward the end if that’s what she wanted. It wasn’t as steamy as I anticipated. Personally, I’d rate it about one 🌶️ on the spice scale, but the chemistry is still undeniable. The banter is playful, the plot keeps moving, and the hero is all in from the start, making it a great pick if you want a quick, light sci-fi romance with a swoony alien protector.

This was a fun instalove sci-fi romance between human Natalie (h) and alien Cav (H). On her 21st birthday, the first year she's eligible, Natalie is chosen in the bride lottery that's arranged between the human and alien governments in payment for the aliens providing protection. She's taken to a spaceship and then has to participate in possible matching and games. The whole shebang is filmed and watched across the planets so there's a reality tv element too. Her initial plan is to lose so that she's sent home to Earth. Cav is also chosen to participate to find a mate, to increase his chances at military promotion. He starts off not being as interested, but is much more accepting of the process than Natalie. Written in first person, dual POV. No ow drama, some om drama specifically from another suitor, and neither were virgins (no real details given on their history though).
Cav's initial thoughts when checking out photos of the possible brides were unappealing, but as soon as he ran into Natalie, that was it, he knew she was his true mate. Except Natalie maintains that she's going home. The set-ups between Natalie and potential mates were interesting, although the villains of the book made me want them to suffer by the end and sadly that didn't really happen. But Cav ended up being a giant sweetheart and they had some great chemistry and scenes to show a soft side to Cav, as well as steaminess. Their relationship happens very quickly but I did like them together. The book ends in a HFN and I did wish for even a small epilogue focused on them, rather than a lead in to the next book (which does sound even more interesting since the h of book 2 runs).

For all the crap I said about this book while reading, somehow it's still 3 stars.
It was weird.
Not the plot. That was just cookie cutter and boring.
The characters were weird and annoying and 8% in and I already want to really smack the hero hard enough to rattle his brain in the hopes that it might knock some much needed sense into him.
So I had these really high hopes that the heroine would do that for me and there would be grovelling and atonement for all the needless mansplaining and "my woman will-" crap but alas that didn't happening she just fell to his feet and he had a miraculous change of heart cause she while she fell at his feet, she didn't fall on his dick. *shrugs*
So why am I giving it three stars? Beats me :p

The heroine: Natalie - she was in college studying biochemistry, when one night she was out celebrating her birthday with friends when this year's alien bride lottery came on every TV in the world. This was the first year she was eligible to be in the lottery, so she wasn’t worried she would be chosen but she was and was immediately beamed up to a ship to be taken to the bride lottery.
The Hero: Cav - He is a Khanavai warrior, his ultimate goal is to get into special ops, and he has applied to the team, but hasn’t been assigned yet. When it comes time for the Alien Bride Lottery this year, he is chosen to be one of the males to get a bride. He really doesn’t want a mate at this time, but he later finds out that having a human bride will help him in a special ops career and the powers that be probably put in his name for that very purpose.
The Story: The annual Khanavai bride games are a galaxy wide event. The Khanavai are an alien species who lost most of their women while at war with their enemies, have defeated the swarm and now they protect Earth in exchange for brides. Each year they take over all communications and hold the bride games which are televised and watched by everyone. Natalie is determined to do what she can to prevent being chosen so she can get back to her life.
The story was ok, though I wasn’t fond of the spanking ceremony in the bride games. It wasn’t sensual spanking but cruel spanking, a way for those warriors who liked to hurt women to have a free chance to do it in front of a wide audience. I did like the fact that Cav knew from the start the Natalie was his fated mate, so he did what he could to win her and he was gentle with her even for the spanking.
This audiobook was told in dual points of view via duet narration and was narrated by C.J. Grey and Rachel Music. C.J. Grey is a fantastic narrator with a good voice. He is expressive and enthusiastic and is able to use different voices for different characters. Rachel Music has a soft, feminine voice which wasn’t bad, but wasn’t one of my favorites either. You can’t tell she is reading, so that was good.

Literally the concept of this was so cool and the characters were interesting. The only reasons I gave it 3/5 stars is because I wish it was longer and we got more spice. But it was super enjoyable and a quick alien romance read.
Onto the next one I go 🏃🏻♀️

Mí humilde opinión:
Me intrigó la idea de la lotería de la novia, en la historia se desarrolla un reality show que me recordó a las galas de vestuario en Los juegos del hambre, está todo el drama que involucra el juego de las citas con un presentador malisioso pero no cargaba mucha emoción y terminó siendo corta sin mucho más.
Comenzó bien y los protagonistas fueron puestos en una o dos situaciones que por ahí me hicieron sonreír pero me hubiera gustado más detalles y ver más pruebas o citas.
Natalie al comienzo era una chica que parecía tímida con el chico que le gustaba en la tierra, le faltaba poco para tener su título en una carrera que era importante pero su nombre sale en la lotería de novias y se quiere morir! Pero después parece olvidarse de todo cuando conoce a Cav. Estuvo bien que se negara a participar de los juegos, no quería un novio alien, solo seguir con su vida normal, me gustó que luchara contra lo que no quería.
Cav me gustó, él no buscaba esposa, mucho menos humana pero encuentra a su pareja en Natalie y hará lo que sea para hacerla feliz incluso si eso significa dejarla ir. Él es un tipo honorable y deja que ella de lo pasos, era paciente con para ganarse su amor. Alien dulce justo ahí mismo.
Tengo que decir tristemente que no había mucho de especial en la pareja, son personajes que les falta una dosis de desarrollo y pasión. Ambos cambian de opinión en un abrir y cerrar de ojos. Y luego está el tema de las nalgadas! Odio eso en libros, no me resulta sexy y aquí todo se transmitía en vivo para todo el mundo. Natalie sabía que su familia vería que Cav le daba nalgadas con las pompis al aire y no se preocupó tanto por ello. Yo solo movía la cabeza por este tipo de tonterías.
Una duda me quedó rondando, si al final podías irte del concurso, no te obligaban a nada, no entendí porque huyó esa humana a Las Vegas.
Este libro fue un romance corto con un punto interesante pero no alcanzó a encantarme del todo por lo que no me anima a leer el siguiente libro.

This is the romance between Natalie and Cav. Cav is a part of an alien species that has been protecting Earth from other Aliens, while Natalie is a human woman. Natalie's name has been drawn to be one of the participants in the Alien Bride Lottery. Human women get picked to participate in some bride-related games, so they can find a mate with an alien male. Cav is one of the males who has been asked to be a part of the games this year, and right when he sees Natalie he knows that she is his. But what do does not know yet is that Natalie does not want to be married at all.
This was super fun! It really reminded me of The Hunger Games and The Selection, but obviously steamer and filled with aliens! I thought the concept of the story was super interesting, and it really sucked me in! However, there were parts of this book/world that I wish were explained more. I felt lost sometimes reading this, like I felt left out of the loop on a few things. But overall, this was really enjoyable and I am super excited to read book 2!!

I came across this ad a while back and immediately saved it to my TBR. It sounded funny and a little out there. When I hit a book funk where I was struggling to read my current books, I jumped over to book one in the series. It is written in first person from a dual POV and ends with a HEA.
I love the premise of this series. Set sometime in the future, Earth relies on the Khanov aliens to protect it from the Alveron Hoard in exchange for entering unmarried females in the lottery for potential alien mates. Natalie becomes eligible for the lottery on her 21st birthday and is immediately chosen. She has no choice but to be beamed up, where she immediately determines to play to lose. She is feisty and funny. I really enjoyed her take on the aliens and their space station. Cav is a warrior sent to be a groom in the bride games and he falls fast and hard for Natalie. I adore his protective nature and how gentle he is with her. They have immediate chemistry that turns very quickly to more.
The Bride Games premise takes a satirical look at the world's obsession with reality TV programming. I love that the book takes readers behind the scenes as the Khanov TV show pursues gaining better ratings and the lengths they goo to in order to achieve that. There is a subtle commentary on the current state of affairs on earth regarding environmental awareness, cultural traditions, and technology.
This was a quick and very enjoyable read. Steamy, funny in places, and a little horrifying in others, I enjoyed the story. I love how the TV show is the backdrop and though they are pawns to a point, Cav and Natalie ultimately choose each other in a very romantic way. Book one sets up book two so effortlessly, I had to continue straight into it next. By the end of book 2, I can honestly say I am through my book funk and can return to the arcs I need to read. However, I will be coming back to this very entertaining series soon.

This is the 3rd book I've read written by Margo Bond Collins; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. In exchange for protection the Khanavai asks for earth women to come and mate with their men. Natalie's name is chosen in the Bride Lotter and she is taken. Cav is selected as a groom and when he goes exploring he runs into Natalie and is determined to win her. It was a lot of fun reading this book. I loved the humor. Despite some issues with the Games themselves, Natalie and Cav get together and marry. I'm really looking forward to the next book.

This is the fun entertaining romance of Natalie and Cav. While she does all she can not to be chosen as a bride, Cav has other ideas the moment he sees and gets a whiff of her scent. I enjoyed this reality TV sweet romance. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

ENTERED IN THE ALIEN BRIDE LOTTERY by Margo Bond Collins is bk #1 in the KAHNAVAI WARRIOR BRIDE GAMES series, a series featuring earth women who reluctantly (or not) end up on a televised Bride Games reality show broadcast between earth and the Kahnavai population.
For the past 50 years, Kahnavaian space warriors have been protecting planet earth from a common alien enemy known as the Alveron Horde who would otherwise rape and pillage earth. The Alveron previously attacked the Kahanavai’s with chemical warfare causing their adults to bare only male children. The Kahnavaian population would have eventually died out but they discovered earth, the human female’s compatibility with their own male population, and the earthlings desperate need for protection from the oppressive Horde which was now attacking them. A treaty between Earth and Kahnavai was proposed, accepted and called the Bride Treaty. The treaty allows an annual Bride Lottery where all single earth women 21 yrs and older submit their names to a lottery. “Winners” enter the Bride Games competition which is a televised reality show matching the preselected earth women to a number of prospective single Kahnavai warriors/civilians. An earth woman can return home if none of the preselected Kahnavaian are a good match for her; and her name never re-enters future drawings. Women who receive one or more possible Kahnavai matches participate in the elimination portion of the Games with the goal of selecting the best possible warrior and future mate for each earth bride.
Natalie Ferguson/FMC, just turned 21 yrs and a college student, hears her name announced for the upcoming ALIEN BRIDE LOTTERY while in the company of partying friends one evening. She is resigned as she reports to the assigned “Bride” shuttle, but hopeful that she will be rejected as a match. Lt. Cav Adredoni/MMC is a pilot and a warrior. During his service he has been actively fighting the Horde, helping to protect planet earth from annihilation. He resents being pulled out of duty for the Games but submits after being reminded that finding a human mate and creating a family is another duty all Kahnavains should be honored to perform.
ENTERED IN THE ALIEN BRIDE LOTTERY is a light-hearted, fast reading story which shows how individuals are affected by an agreement created for the “greater good” of 2 very different worlds. I enjoyed seeing how both characters learned to appreciate another perspective than their own. Lt. Adredoni was an honorable man; Natalie was very young yet not of drama-queen mentality (Yay!) and strong in her own right. ENTERED IN THE ALIEN BRIDE LOTTERY would be most enjoyed by readers looking for a quick reading, fun, sexy, light-hearted Space Opera with low angst, likable characters in an Opposites Attract trope setting, and a sweet HEA. I enjoyed EITABL enough that I picked up bks#2 & #3 in the KAHNAVAI WARRIOR BRIDE GAMES series. For me, it was a perfect COVID-escape read.

Don't remember how this ended up on my kindle. Thank god it just took an evening to read.
Well, the idea isn't new. The trope has been chewed up a kazilion times.
I wonder what's up with American women though. College girls specifically. In EVERY book they are portrayed the same. Which leads to the conclusion that this stereotype is based on too many real examples. And therefore I conclude that American college girls are dumb, naive and have only two braincells just working for wailing, whining and s*x. Ugh. Seriously, when I was 21 and at university and would compare me to them, it would have made my mental age 40, at least. Not one of my friends back then would be so dumb. So therefore this can only be an American thing. Alas German girls that age NOW aren't that bright either. Too much social media, too much American influences and all that sh*t. Its sad.
Her argument that using a marriage of convenience, even for five years, is unbearable, is just stupid. You just have to keep your goal straight and you work it out, without any negative things. These girls are so weak. It's embarrassing.
And it was just offensive that she decided to marry him and stay though he fought to get her free. Sheeeeesh!!! Then you go you dumb chit, finish college, do something with your live and if you really love him after all the adrenaline is out if your system, then date and get to know each other. Ugh!!! But this was just horrible! Now she's an alien trad-wife. Congrats to throwing away your live girlie!
And what irked me as well was the complete disregard of the fact, that women could be homosexual. You can't just make them take part in this game and expect them to mate a male. Or what about those that are non binary? Or those that do not want a husband, children? Abuse victims!? What about them?

Names were inconsistently used. Really liked the characters, and wish that there had been more development there. But it was instalove. Missed opportunity there, I think. Maybe it was bc this was the first but the set ups for further books was all over. In fact, the epilogue is not an epilogue. It’s the start of the next book. Please don’t call these adverts “epilogue”! Does a further disservice to the characters in this story. Also there was a rushed feel, as if we have to get through this to get to the next one. I had a lot of questions that didn’t get answered. Not about the world building, about this H and h. The only thing 21-ish about Natalie is how fast she changes her mind. And then the explanation (this is what I really needed, who knew?) was never set up for this resolution. As for the H, we see more of his character in his actions than his internal musings. But he, too, changes on a dime bc of her scent (really overused in these alien bride stories).

Drama. Aliens. Sass. And just the right amount of “WTF is happening and why do I love it?”
Nat is a total ice queen with zero interest in playing by the rules. Cav is a sinfully hot alphahole who touches her once and decides she’s his forever. The banter? Sharp. The dual POV? Fun. The audiobook? Delicious. Their chemistry? Illegal in at least six galaxies.
It’s The Hunger Games meets alien dating show, sprinkled with drama, laughs and a whole lot of absurdity. It’s formulaic, occasionally outrageous, and yes there are a few holes but I was still having a blast.
Could it have used more spice? 100%. A few deeper emotional moments wouldn’t have hurt either. But for what it is (brain-rot brilliance) it hits the mark.
Alien loving girlies, this one’s a hidden gem if you like a wild ride and enough snark to fuel a spaceship. Go in blind, lower your expectations just a smidge and embrace the chaos. I’ll definitely be grabbing the next one. 💫👽💍🍌🍿
