One taste could never be enough…

It’s been months since Finn Ashton walked into Gillian Masters lecture, and by extension, her life…followed by another six weeks since their last, mind-blowing encounter. In Gillian’s office. On her desk. Then the holidays came and went, and Gillian’s silence spoke louder than words. It was a one-time fling, too risky to repeat.

Finn gets it. With her life packed with architecture classes, a job, and a less-than-ideal home life, it’s no wonder the gorgeous, seemingly confident Gillian wouldn’t want to risk her career on scratching an itch.

But when Finn takes a seat in Gillian’s lecture hall for a new semester, the undeniable gravity between them is still powerful. The moment their eyes meet, they both know their cravings are far from satisfied.

If they’re careful to leave their emotions out of it, they can give each other the desperately needed space to fill their deepest, darkest needs. But is their arrangement just harmless stress-release? Or an addiction that could leave their hearts—and lives—in pieces?

Off the chart heat....
I first met Gillian and Finn in the erotic short "Forbidden" and was thrilled to reconnect with them in this book. Finn Ashton is a beautifully tattooed, gently assertive butch living at home to look after her mum (her dad's a drunk). She does renovations on the side while attending university. Gillian Masters is one of her lecturers. Written as cool and uptight, that exterior hides a woman craving satisfaction after an emotion crippling marriage with a cruel bum of a husband ends.
No need for fine details - their first meeting after shared heated glances then sultry text messages, sets the stage. Any relationship between student and lecturer is off limits but when want and satisfaction come to play - lust rules.
Finn tugged at my heart with her studly bravado and soft heart. Gillian however was frustrating in her back and forth, seeming to lead Finn on and at the same time try to end the affair.
Tereze's storyline has it all. Torrid sex then eventual recognition that love is involved but insecurities hang on. Can they maintain the secret affair until Finn graduates or will meddling "friends" upend their joy?
Threads are there for a sequel or so I hope.
Definitely read while enjoying a cold one with the air conditioning on high!!

i loved finn's character but i wanted to kill gillian 24/7.
the spice was veeery enjoyable, but the dialogues felt repetitive.
the writing was good. super easy to read. but it draggeeeeddd.
i wanted the book to end towards the end and was enraaageddddd!!! with the ending.
no epilogue??? what even happened with finn's friend, deena? what ended up happening between finn and gillian? i just felt like there were so many things that could've been added and other things that were unnecessary.
i still enjoyed reading the book though, but i did feel like it was too long and didn't lead anywhere really.
that ending left me highly disappointed. :(

This book was recommended to me so many times on instagram! I read it over a year ago so I thought it was definitely time for a reread! This time I tandem read with the audiobook as I wanted to give that a go.
And holy hell! The audio had me melting constantly 🫠 it was so good! I love this story between a university lecturer (45) and a mature student (25). It’s written in third person with 2x POVs. 20 year age gap. Masc/Femme. Forbidden romance. And a staggering 13 spicy scenes!

Can’t wait to read book two in this series, Choose You. I love Melissa’s work and have read a couple now. Highly recommend giving this on a go!

Study You 📚❤️

This has got to be the steamiest Melissa Tereze book I've read! Wow!!

Gillian and Finn's relationship is taboo - professor/student is widely frowned upon. However, they just can't help themselves. Thus begins their journey of desire, lust, passion, and love. It was a beautiful journey. Gillian has been through a lot, and Finn is just the perfect person for her. It wasn't an easy road traveled, but they got through it together. Loved this one!❤️

“Your studying is impeccable.”
Finn turned her head and stared into Gillian’s soul. “Maybe it’s time to study you next.”

3.5 stars. A super sexy, taboo, sapphic professor/student romance. I think if I were rating this as an erotica, I'd give it something like 4 stars, maybe 4.5. I definitely knew that it was going to be an erotic romance, and I did enjoy it as such. It more than delivered, in terms of being really sexy. And it was a good romance as well; I really came to care for the couple and root for them. But there just wasn't enough on page exploration of their relationship, or moments where we got to see them actually developping a rapport and feelings. There's lots of sex and there's a fair bit of drama, but nowhere near enough plot and character development to sustain a book this long. And I guess a part of my problem is that I went into this thinking that it was a standalone. I saw that there was another book in the series, but I didn't look into it; I just assumed that it was an interconnected standalone. So I was expecting Gillian and Finn's story to wrap up here, but alas, it did not.

I will say this though: I've previously liked this author's work, but I had issues with the books I read because they were all so dramatic and angsty and borderline melodramatic, and those aspects of the books annoyed me more than they moved me. In this, there was a fair amount of drama, but I didn't mind any of it? My least favourite types of conflict in romances are ex-gf/bf/nbf drama, overblown jealousy/other woman drama, or the type of stuff where the best friend hates the love interest. And happily, this didn't have any of that! And I guess I was pleasantly surprised, because I just expected that type of thing from this author, lol. There WAS drama, but it was all interpersonal, with a bunch of push and pull, as Finn and Gillian navigate a relationship that is at first entirely based on sex, and then grows into something more as feelings develop. There's so much back and forth that it could have easily gotten tiresome, but the attraction and steam were really appealingly written, and so I wasn't as impatient with this as I might have been in another situation. Super, super sexy; I was blushing. There were definitely some moments where I was like, 'Uh, do we actually need another sex scene here??' but then it was so hot, I couldn't complain. Look, I am shallow! Don't @ me!

But seriously, since this is a romance, and not pure erotica, I would have appreciated a more robust plot. Finn has some stuff going on at home with a sick mom and a drunken father, but that just kinda sorts itself out. Gillian has a lot of baggage from her past relationship, and a lot of stuff she needs to get over, but she doesn't really open up about it, and it feels like a very tiny part of the plot. And even if those things weren't better explored, like I said, I really wish we'd simply had more scenes with Finn and Gillian that built up their relationship. Yeah, they feel really strongly about one another, but WHY? I feel like they only barely got to know each other, and that only happened relatively late in the book. Yeah, that might be inevitable in a book that purposefully starts off as a purely sexual relationship, but even so. I feel like the only interactions they had in the first half, outside of sex, were arguing about whether they could continue seeing each other or not. I got really frustrated with Gillian, and the way she treated Finn. Don't get me wrong: by the end, I was still entirely convinced of their emotional and romantic connection, and they had really intense chemistry that I loved. This just felt like it was missing a lot of development.

Listened to the audiobook as read by Evelyn Rose, and it was really lovely. She has such a great voice, and she acted her ass off, especially in those emotional scenes. Tereze's writing style isn't my favourite, but the narrator's rendition made me really like it. Definitely recommended. I'll probably continue this series at some point; most likely when the audiobook comes out. Glancing at the synopsis for the second book, it looks like all the melodrama that was missing from this book will be covered there, lol. I will say, I'm thankful that the author decided to end this book on a HFN, instead of an egregious cliffhanger. If I never continue the series, I can still imagine this couple in a sweet, happy place.

Gillian knew Finn was smirking. She often did when Gillian couldn’t control herself. But that was Finn, always putting Gillian in a position to want more.

After Finn and Gillian's night together they can't stop thinking about one another, but it's been 6 weeks and no communication. Finn takes that as a message, be happy with the one night. But when the semester starts and they see one another , they can't stay away. But Gillian is Finn's professor so they can't entertain a relationship. Or could they. Then Finn gives Gillian an estimate on her house renovations and she accepts it. So, even if they aren't together, they'll still see one another.
Melissa knows how to weave an interesting and HOT tale! And I mean HOT! I wish I'd had a professor like Gillian!! Worth more than 5 stars!!

dnf at 56%. thought of finishing it but the repeated sex for one day and then regretting it and then coming back and then sex and then on and on and on it goes. mind you this is just by the older mc. the one that should know better. the professor. bc obviously shes in a position of power over the student. the fact that im barely halfway and that cycle has happened FOUR TIMES is crazy.

the repeated talk of how gillian had more to lose seems like a cop out to like not make this more of a controversial taboo professorxstudent. but is this not the same repeated talk of a predator. i mean i guess that finn was more aware of that fact. bc finn is nice. finn is smart. but finn is also stupidly in love w someone older and more established than her.

but yes it would be nice to hv a friend like Jan. to tell you u arent doing anything wrong all the time. but if I were a uni student and found put my prof was dating a student in my class i would be slightly pissed no shade. also i would treat finn wayyyyyy better.

Study You

As always, Melissa Tereze has written a phenomenal book. She is the master with age-gap romance. I was hooked with the novella from a few months ago and enthusiastic when she came out with a full-length novel with these characters. I enjoyed the heat, chemistry, and angst in this book. I hope there is a sequel. I will continue to follow this author and look forward to more books in the future.

Finn for the win ❤️

Melissa has a way with making you feel every emotion while reading her books. I felt everything reading this book (in a good way)

Finn is Gillian’s student at uni and eventually the end up having relations which can be really messy. Gillian just got divorced to her husband and doesn’t want a relationship at all. At first it’s all about the physical attraction for both of them until feelings get involved. There was a lot of feelings and chemistry throughout the entire book. I loved it 🥰 I really really loved Finn. She’s was too sweet for her own good. She was so understanding and did whatever to make Gillian happy. I honestly felt like she was too good for Gillian (sorry not sorry). Finn was literally the absolute sweetest. I really enjoyed their relationship together but I HATED how mean and rude Gillian was to Finn the first half of the book. Whenever she was in her moods, she snapped on Finn and Finn didn’t deserve it. Gillian said sorry so many times for first half of the book, I was honestly sick of her. I know Gillian went thru a lot with her marriage but Finna didn’t deserve her attitude. There were times they were together and Gillian called alll the shots. Whenever Finn did or said something she didn’t like, she had an attitude. With that being said, I did feel for Gillian after reading about how she dealt with her divorce to her cheating douche bag ex husband. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Melissa never disappoints ❤️🫶🏽

Ohh and last but not least, spice level was definitely at a 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This book promises erotica and does it ever deliver!

The sex scenes are definitely explicit and spicy hot. Gillian and Finn can’t keep their hands (and other bits) off each other!

The drama also comes in heaps, with each conversation between the two MCs ending up with hurt feelings and misunderstanding. Both of them make huge assumptions about the other, which leads to breakup conversations every time they are together. I wouldn’t say this is an angsty story, but it is wrenching to see them constantly missing each other.

There are some places where I had to suspend disbelief. For someone whose been suffering from lukewarm straight sex for twenty-odd years, Gillian certainly took to sapphic loving like a pro from the very start. Apparently she had enough girlfriends before she inexplicably settled for a mediocre hetero marriage? Details details!

Luckily Finn has zero (0) friends so we only have to deal with oversharing/repeating everything that just happened in the narrative/advice sessions on one side. I kept expecting more tension or something explosive to happen with either the weirdly over-familiar bartender or the “straight” divorced classmate, but the drama fairy didn’t visit too much, only relying on side characters dumping secrets and being super-intuitive when the plot demanded it.

So if you’re into intense conversations, intense sex, and some meddling by friends/bystanders, I recommend this!

SPICY !! STEAM !! SAPPHIC!! Melissa Tereze writes some INSANELY hot! Ohmahgawd! This is a fantastic age gap romance that is the opposite of slow burn. This is explosive. The pull between Gill and Finn torches the pages (and your ear buds).. Finn is just the most wonderful character. She's butch, sexy, intense, dominating, kind, character with beautiful blue eyes. That just did me in. I loved seeing these characters fight their feelings (not the attraction ) that they feel for each other. Gillian- I wanted to shake at times - which just adds to the gripping capacity of Tereze's writing. OH! Just if you're looking at this book or reading this review - just buy it. Do it. You're welcome.

Sapphic Student/Teacher Age Gap!

Beautiful story featuring a hardworking butch student and her tantalizing femme professor. Their chemistry is off the charts. The spice is very well written. They learn to communicate and trust which is an important foundation for any relationship. The only thing I didn’t vibe as much with was the repetitive back and forth (in discussions only lol) that made it more difficult for me to engage with the book. But I can’t not finish a book by this author and I’m glad I did. Recommend!

Um, so who enjoyed this book more? The author writing it or the narrator reading it? I mean, it's steamy hot and and pretty intriguing from beginning to end (I think. I wrote this halfway through). It's a fun and challenging story for Finn an Gillian. Dina, Jan and Finn's mom are amazing support characters, seeing through the MCs when it matter most. The book kept me on edge...

Great erotica. A professor gets into a steamy relationship with a student and they fall in love. The "we can't" "we shouldn't" got tiresome and drawn out. The sexy bits are very good. Lovely characters, and I really liked the two MCs. Glad it is out here in sapphic erotica and romance.

1. To start, I wished this had gone on longer, so we could've seen what happened after they came out.
2. Up until the last couple chapters, Gillian literally couldn't make up her mind. It was so annoying
3. Everyone. And I mean EVERYONE needs a friend like Jan.

Finn Ashton is a 25 year old tatted up Masc-presenting architect student.
Gillian Masters is her 45 year old Femme-presenting high-heel and pencil skirt wearing Professor.

Gillian: “I don’t think you can handle me Finn.”
Finn: “Wanna find out?”

This is not your typical sapphic age-gap romance that we have come to expect and love from Melissa Tereze. If you’re anything like me, you've either read, or are in the process of reading everything this woman has ever written. BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY- this is BY FAR the HOTTEST piece of Sapphic Age-Gap literature she has EVER WRITTEN.
This is a FAST BURN ok?! It starts off on absolute fire and stays that way the entire book. This is a medium angst book, as it is a “forbidden romance” between Professor/Student and there is a lot of push and pull between the two women, BUT IT’S SEXY ANGST! The undeniable attraction between the two FMC’s is not a sizzle, it is a legit 5 ALARM FIRE. And, as an ADULT LES-FIC book, I would absolutely recommend this as an 18+ read. It has all the delicious things we love in a spicy book, (and let's see if I can entice and inform you without getting my review banned) up to and including: rough seggs, pinning and restraint, choking, str@p, suck*ng str@p, public, light degradation, and sext*ng.
I would highly recommend NOT LISTENING IN PUBLIC as it will be impossible to keep a good game face on and hide the serious blushing of your cheeks, face, and chest. Also- DRINK SOME WATER. You’ll need it. 5/5 Spice. 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
The narrator Evelyn Rose is amazing, and did a fan-f*cking-tastic job. I left 29 bookmarks in this dang book *cough* and I probably could have added a few more.
Absolutely delicious and (*spoiler alert?*) It is absolutely an HEA.
As a career lesbian, this book gave me heart palpitations- so I'm pretty sure this book might actually cause heart or panty damage to our wonderful late-in-life lezzies and our sweet bi girlies.
This is my feral racoon review- and please go drink some water.

I was excited to read this after reading the, I guess, prequel Forbidden. I enjoy Tereze’s writing and especially enjoyed her focus on erotica in this book. Snagged off Kindle Unlimited.

I liked Finn and Gillian’s sexual chemistry so much. It’s definitely at the forefront of their relationship. There were a few instances of conflict in the plot that frustrated me due to the simplicity of them. Additionally, I do think it dragged about halfway for quite a bit and felt a little fluffy. Still a great book that is recommended for readers who like something a little hotter. The butch and femme rep was appreciated.
➢Happy reading!

This book was one of those “just one more chapter” reads that ended up keeping me awake way too late—and I regret nothing. Melissa Tereze has such a knack for building tension, both romantic and emotional, and Study You delivered that slow-burn satisfaction I live for.

The premise is fairly straightforward (professor/student dynamic, which already sets the stage for delicious tension), but what really worked for me was the execution. It wasn’t just about taboo spice—it was about two women navigating power, desire, and vulnerability in ways that felt layered and real. The relationship wasn’t rushed; it simmered. Every look, every near-touch had weight, and when things finally snapped into place… whew. Worth the wait.

The characters are where this book shines. Both leads felt fleshed out, with their own motivations, flaws, and moments of weakness. I especially appreciated that the romance didn’t feel one-dimensional—it had a balance of tenderness, playfulness, and yes, plenty of angst. And let me tell you, the angst hit in all the right ways without tipping into melodrama.

Now for the spice. Solid 🔥4. There’s no fade-to-black here—when things heat up, they really heat up. The intimacy is explicit, detailed, and tied so closely to the emotional stakes that it amplifies everything. It’s not quite as extreme as BDSM/power play territory, which is why I wouldn’t call it a full 🔥5, but it’s absolutely satisfying and then some.

Overall, Study You is a fantastic mix of slow-burn angst, forbidden attraction, and unapologetic sapphic spice. If you’re looking for a book that keeps you hooked from page one and rewards your patience with emotional payoff and steam, this is it.

Hard to believe that an erotic romance that everyone's raving about could be so excruciatingly dull! It was just one note, played over and over on repeat. Until it eventually sputters out. I'm kicking myself for sticking with it til the bitter end, on the off chance it might get better. This was originally an erotic short called Forbidden. Since not a whole lot happens, maybe it wasn't well enough plotted out to merit a full-length novel?

The story hinges on the torrid - and forbidden - affair between a professor and a student who is 20 years younger. The femme professor lacks confidence because her husband was mean to her. Underneath her confident swagger, the butch student is sweet and caring and devoted (yet has zero friends). Neither woman was fleshed out enough to make me get invested in them.

The ratings here and on Amazon are off-the-charts positive, though. I don’t get it.

PS: On the topic of large age gaps like this one (the same age gap as between me and my parents!) - I get that this is a popular trope, and I also get that romance fiction is akin to fantasy, with its dragons and sorcery and extraterrestrial creatures. I don't mind the trope, but I do find it interesting how rarely these authors even hint at the elephant in the room: What will happen to the happy-ever-after relationship in a couple of decades, when the younger partner is middle-aged and finds herself saddled in the caregiver role for an elderly person with dementia or some other end-of-life condition.

A few days after finishing Study You by Melissa Tereze, I’m still thinking about Finn and Gillian’s relationship. It was a captivating read, and the chemistry between them was off the charts! Finn’s treatment of Gillian was swoon-worthy—she was attentive, caring, and confident. But what I appreciated most was that Finn wasn’t without her flaws. Early on, her immaturity showed through when she quickly questioned whether she could stick to their arrangement and took offense a little too easily, which made her feel more human and relatable. Thankfully she slowly shed that immaturity the more she got to know Gillian.

I appreciated Gillian’s character growth and the amount of time it took. Her journey felt realistic, and the angst she carried throughout the story kept me invested in her and Finn’s relationship. That tension really fueled the longing for them to succeed as a couple. Having her best friend, Jan, there for support from the start was a great touch, too—it helped balance out some of the heavier moments and made her growth feel more grounded.

The book has a lot of sex scenes, and honestly, I loved it! The scenes were never repetitive and each one added something to the emotional depth of the story. They weren’t just there for the sake of being steamy (though they were certainly that); they continued to push the relationship and plot forward.

All in all, Study You gave me everything I wanted—intense desire, character growth, and a love story that was just as sexy as it was satisfying. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a properly developed love story with plenty of heat!

Phew... that was... well... TERRIBLY 🔥 HOT!
It was to be expected and yet it still blew me away.
Initially, the meetings and scenes between the two were pure, raw sex and nothing more.
The story ultimately ties in with “Forbidden,” but it quickly becomes clear that neither can really stay away from the other. Sometimes, quite often to be honest, I found myself wanting to tell Gillian off.
Her reactions were so stupid sometimes, but that's just my feeling...it was just often hot then cold with her.
In my opinion, Finn is just hot and absolutely sweet and lovable, but anyone who reads the story will understand what I mean.
Nevertheless, you can of course understand Gillian's concerns and her fears and also why she just can't keep her hands off this forbidden fruit.
It was more than expected and that's saying something.
Melissa Tereze always writes hot love stories, but this one is just more wild and unrestrained lust, in the best possible way.
It's pure erotica with the right amount of romance that develops slowly but steadily.
And then finally the HEA...what more could you want?!

is this feeling anger?

Why, why did it have to end! And like that!!! I’m guessing so another book can flow from this one…but why! I need more right now.
Ok about the book…having met the characters in the previous novella it was nice to get a more in-depth view of them. I personally love Finn as a character, the misunderstood tattooed butch with a heart of gold. I would love a deeper look into her character. Gillian…I wanted to shake a few times but I understand her reasoning. I gotta admit the insecurities both characters had did, at times make me huff…but really that’s real life…you would question things if it affects your career or education. And if a second book is heading our way then I’m guessing it will become a factor…cos like, I have theories!
As with every other Tereze book, this is an outstanding story with the edgy real life stuff left in. The story grips you from the prologue (previous novella) and doesn’t let you go till you utter the phrase…REALLY, your ending it like that! So, grab a drink, I recommend a cold one because this book is spicy af…sit your butt down and enjoy another dose of Tereze goodness.

A Sexy, Sweet and Forbidden Love Story!

I love Melissa Tereze’s writing style and storytelling. This book has been a hot mess of desires, wants, needs and acceptance. Finn Ashton is a twenty five year old student finishing up a degree. But her focus right now is to get her Professor to want her. Gillian Masters can’t take her eyes off Finn. Everything about her is just her type. But she is going through a divorce and also Finn is her student regardless of her age which is a twenty year gap. But she wanted her ever since she appeared in her class. But when Finn hands her number on a piece of paper and says call her if she wants fun, Gillian is contemplating calling instead of going to her divorce celebration. What happens when her best friend givers her her approval to have fun and then Finn us at the bar they are celebrating in, things take a turn. The story is written so well, we have heat, we have need, but we have emotions and we have knowledge of doing the right thing. How these two women handle their lives going forward tears at your heartstrings. Can something considered so wrong feel this right? And then it ends. Come on Melissa, now we wait! So,So Good!

Some of the sex scenes were terrific in getting that sizzling butch-femme energy across the pages. But Gillian was downright insufferable - truly A+ bitch for the first half of the book. So Finn's attraction and devotion to her was unbelievable. Also - writing is t-e-d-i-o-u-s. Monologues and dialogues repeating themselves over and over again. I get it - it's supposed to be angsty - but it was truly testing my patience and turning me off. It's also a mindfuck for the readers. One minute the MC's are confident and sexy. The next minute: "are you sure? ... Are you really sure? Because if you are not absolutely sure ..." ARGH !!! This book could have been 1/3 shorter and better. Or trim that annoying repetition and fill the 1/3 with more sex !!! 4 stars because there are NOT enough books out there that portray a really great butch-femme dynamic. So thank you Melissa for writing this.
