Arcane Arts Academy is no place for an orphan who peddles illegal potions and lives out of a caravan and yet here I am.
After my volatile magic nearly killed a bunch of mortals, I thought they'd throw me in Kalzir prison, but instead, I got a dorm room, a uniform, and three square meals a day.
It's all rainbows and sunshine...until it isn't. There are wolf shifters in the woods on campus, secrets hidden in the walls, and a hot teacher who may or may not want me as much as I want him.
But dangerous distractions aside, I’m about to find out that some secrets have claws and if I’m not careful, these ones will tear me apart.
Arcane Arts Academy is a complete paranormal academy series where the heat level rises in each book. You can expect a tough heroine, ‘touch her and die’ vibes, and some delicious taboo and enemies to lover’s tension. This is a WhyChoose romance, which means the main character will have multiple love interests and will not have to choose between them.
Devour all five books—over 1200 pages—of powerful witches, wicked wolf shifters, sexy as sin vampires, and the forbidden love tying them all together today!
Elena lives in Canada with her husband, daughter, and their Siberian cat overlords. She writes dark, why-choose romances full of feisty heroines, unforgettable heroes, and their kindle-melting chemistry.
When she comes out of her writing cave, she can be found binge-watching true-crime shows, obsessively rearranging her bookshelves, or chasing the sun around the globe.
SYNOPSIS (of series): The FC (Harper) is a witch who is sent to an academy for witches after using magic in public. It transpires that she is actually very powerful, her father was murdered and her mother abandoned her with her foster parents. The FC‘s family is ultimately responsible for the curse of werewolves and vampires that made them what they are. There are two factions - one that want to complete the curse which would kill all shifters and vampires and another that wants to save them and undo the curse. The FC is caught in the middle. There are 4 MCs - 2 shifters (also her familiars), a witch and a vampire. Each book has its own story that adds to the overall story arc of trying to save the vampires and shifters. There is ultimately a HEA. Heat level is low 🌶️🌶️ as is the angst/dark level of the story.
Let me start by saying that I enjoyed this author’s Crows series and had high expectations of this series. Unfortunately I was severely disappointed.
This story dragged for me and, was full of typos and editing issues. It took me a while to actually get through it. Ultimately the story seemed pointless and the FC too stupid to live to be frank. Her father had given his life to prevent the villains from getting what they needed to kill all vampires and werewolves and the FC spends her time finding all the things needed and essentially opening the door for the villains to win as well as running into danger for no reason at every opportunity. She was supposed to be this incredibly strong witch but you never really saw any evidence of the fact. When the climax comes it is one of those where you just want to shoot the FC yourself and you can see the ending coming a mile off. Icing on the cake was when you see what the result of „saving“ the vampire and werewolves is you have to wonder what the point was of everything that the FC did as nothing really changes - however she is still lauded as a heroine ???
The relationships between the FC and each of the MCs were luke warm at best and never fully developed. The back story for each of the MCs was also minimal leaving them feeling more like caricatures. The whole „familiars‘ storyline with the werewolves also seemed redundant other than to give the feeling that they were somehow less than the FC and almost animals that she owned. The fact that she kept referring to them as her familiars even after she was supposed to have fallen for them left a bad taste for me. Elias came across as weak and ineffectual and again, no real back story or development of his relationship with the FC. This was another of those stories where the MCs fell for the FC almost immediately and for no visible reason. The sex scenes lacked heat for me and I just felt a lack of connection between the FC and any of the MCs. There was no depth.
As for the story itself there are so many gaps in the story that never got addressed. The writing just felt lazy and underdevelopped. For example, (1) you never get to hear exactly what Draven‘s deal was other than something dark despite it being hinted at often; (2) how could the FC find important documents that had been hidden by a blood spell and then just hide them under her mattress? She seemed completely unworried then when she thought that one of them had been eaten by Blanche, the rabbit, but you actually never find out what happened to it; (3) what happened to Rose and the voices? What actually were they? (4) The magistrate is supposed to be this major villain but he doesn‘t actually appear until the end of the story and then everything is over. You just keep hearing about this corrupt council and this powerful magistrate that has been that way for years but you never really see evidence of it or what it has been doing all these years, just that it is evil; (5) You find out that the FC‘s father was murdered but you never get the details and you never really find out why he was murdered or why the magistrate feels the need to get rid of the FC or Elias almost immediately after she joins the academy. So many gaps and inconsistencies, the list goes on.
Ultimately a slow and boring read and a story in need of a good editor or proof read.
I loved the story line. Spice is probably a .5/10 for me but the actual story was good it kept me interested to the point i finished the omnibus in less tjan 3 days.
I do think that 5 books for the climax and resolution to be like 30 pages is disappointing to say the least. There is also some phrases and terminology that just didn't work with the characters personalities that stuck out to me. Which is why I'm giving 4 stars
I couldn’t put this series down. It was amazing. Each character unique and the passions, hurts and sorrows together with the joys kept me on my toes until the end. Fantastic!
A twist to the normal origins, this was an entertaining read. It's a very slow burn reverse harem. Tbh the harem is only really completed in the last book. The spice is relatively tame so maybe 15+
I was so excited when I heard about this book and it didn't disappoint. Harper is looking like she's going to kick some serious butt in book 2. If you love academy style books, shifters, witches, and forbidden romance you will love this book. I have so many theories to what happens next, but she never disappoints with a hidden twist you never see coming I can't wait to see what happens next.
Of magic and moonlight book 2
This is the second book in this series and it doesn't disappoint there is tons of suspense and it is packed full of action, just not much of the sexy variety, but who thinks about the when your familiars are missing and your dead ancestors are haunting you?? This book had me so wrapped up in it that when I got the end I had to make sure it was really the end. The cliff hanger was killer, but I have a feeling the next book is going to be well worth the cliffy she gave us. P.s. be prepared to cry a little.
Of Beast And Blood book 3
This is the third installment of the series and it was intensely suspenseful it answered many questions Harper had, but left her with just a many new ones. I can't wait to see what come to light next.

book 1 Of wolves and witches is so awesome it is full of intrigue magic familiars and secrets and more. I love Harper and Elias and Cal and Adrian. The ending has me wondering what's going to happen next book 2 Of Magic & Moonlight This book answers questions and gives us more I like Rose a lot and cant wait to find out more about Harpers ancestors. Of Magic and Moonlight is sugar and spice and a lot of things nice. Harper is awesome with the way she would do anything to get her familiars back. and Elias I adore him. I do wish that we had more scenes with the Familiars and maybe some with all the men together. but all in all a great sequel I really cant wait for the next installment in this awesome series book 3 Of Beasts and Blood This books was so cool the plot was just fantabulous. Draven is so awesome and im glad to see him being incorporated into the group seamlessly. Elias is so adorable and Cal and Adrian hot. Harper has got a gold mine with her men. I liked the group dynamic that Elena is writing they just flow together very well. and Poor Bianca being mind wiped but her man Marcus is just great. I cryed during the Martin scene Im wondering what he promised to keep secret though and hope we find out soon.
This boxset is absolutely amazing and well worth the read. Harper’s story is an amazing adventure.
Of Wolves and Witches This is an academy series unlike any other I’ve read. Harper is a complete badass who will stop at nothing to get what she wants or needs but has a kind heart and a curiousness that may end up getting her in trouble. I was hooked from the beginning and after that cliffhanger I can’t wait to see how it continues.
Of Magic and Moonlight This book started off slow but when it finally picked up it was amazing. It was beautiful to see how Harper would do just about anything for her familiars. I hope that she is able to find who is kidnapping the endurans and the vocari and stops them. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
Of Beasts and Blood This was an excellent third installment in Harper’s story. So many lies, betrayals and secrets are brought to light. I couldn’t put this book down and the ending was absolutely heartbreaking. Can’t wait for the next book.
Amazing series!!! 🤩💖 ** I read this series as individual books** Harper is such a strong, brave, renteless girl with no knowledge of her origins, her past, whom her parents were and still, she always put herself together to keep going, she is getting stonger, more confident, her friendship with Bianca is thigther, as well as her relationship with Elias and her connection with Adrian and Cal, definetely more than a simple witch - familiar bond... Neither of them suspect the horrible truth and danger they will face, but that's not all, what they discover is just the beginning of something more dark and dangerous of what they thought... with twists and turns at every chapter, this book will keep you turning the pages eager for more... a MUST read series!!! 😍💞
I love this series hardcore! We have a witches, warlocks, shifters and vampires! Everyone is caught in the middle of something brewing.. war is coming! Time is running out! Love, friendship and bad a** harem that will have you swoon! Better watch out! Magic is everywhere!!! 😉
I couldn't stop reading this book! The characters are realistic and you just call in lo e. The school is like a high school for witches, with clicks and whispers. Oh and just wait til I meet aunt Rose.
Freaking love this series... Love this author and can't wait to read more of her creative, imagination exploding books. Highly recommend this series and her books.
Awesome series. I love the plot and all the characters are likeable. My favorite are definitely the wolves. Cannot wait for the next books in the series.
