Obsessed with Him #3

Stealing the Silver Fox

Rate this book
Ezra Fontaine, a cutthroat CEO and divorcé, whose only soft spot is for his luxury car collection.

Anton 'Tony' Cargill, a proud slacker and greasemonkey, who develops a work ethic for the first time in his life when he gets his hands on his richest (and finest) customer's private number.

After a spontaneous string of drunken texts, Tony’s ‘natural gifts’ have Fontaine on the hook. But landing the silver fox won’t be as simple as just whipping it out.

Or will it?

Stealing the Silver Fox is a high heat, reverse age gap (younger top) MM romance which takes place in the same universe as Claiming the Cleanfreak and the Fresh Taste of Ink series.

My goodness. Please ignore my rating of this book, it's completely irrational. God, I love Daniel May, I've probably said it a zillion times, but I just can't help myself.
This book is so weird and did I miss the part where it was explained what the heck is actually happening here? I don't care, I don't need to understand, I had some incredible moments while reading it. That's all I need.
What a ride (cough cough) I am completely pumped full of adrenaline. Why did I have to read this during my working hours, it's not as if I have to concentrate on important things ...
About the content of this book ... Read it at your own risk ...

Hoarse, ragged panting.
A desperate gasp of, “Call me a worm again.”
“Worm,” supplied Tony helpfully.
Ezra Fontaine came with a shameless, full-throated moan.
🤤🤤🤤

He watched the spit trickling down Fontaine’s taint for a moment, threatening to drip off, and at the last moment bent to gather it on his tongue again. He spread it slowly back upwards, painting a trail.
And he wormed his way back up, found the shivering spot again with his tongue, and went to work.
Fontaine submitted only with twitches. Gasps. The occasional hoarse sound, somewhere between a whine and a moan.
Tony gathered that the man had been fucked a lot — like, a lot a lot — but very rarely had his ass eaten.
🤤🤤🤤

Yes, apparently it’s the same Daniel May.

Crazy batshit erotica at its finest. Saw the title and that it was quite popular and I picked it up thinking (judging by the title) that it will be a new author’s dabble with their first wanna be romance book that ends up being more erotica than romance, as it usually happens. I was immediately smacked in the face with the fresh, witty and funny writing and I wondered who the author was because I didn’t look before starting it. I should have known though because it felt very familiar and I was loving it so hard. The witty humor was fabulous too and so unique to DM.
So, this book is first of all DIRTY . Very kinky and dirty and of course hot 🥵 Crazy and kink-heavy too. And I think its main attraction is the fact that we have a 19 years old toppy/dom kid , so very young and a bit twisted and a grumpy 52 slutty, submissive CEO with a humiliation and pain kink. I loved the kid so freaking much. He’s flawed and mean -almost an asshole . I called him “little shit” in my head so go figure.. There’s also a dragon and some weird delirium 🤣🤣 but that’s just Daniel May for you. (If this is the Daniel May I know and love). So yeah, kinky and hot. It’s all you need to remember. And DIRTY, let’s not forget dirty. Don’t expect rainbows and roses though because there aren’t. The relationship is not what we’d call a romantic relationship (more like Master-submissive relationship) yet I enjoyed reading about it. Not my usual kind of book (BDSM is not really my jam) but the writing made it interesting.
TW for very heavy humiliation, pain and degradation kink.

Kinky Age Gap
3.5 Stars ⭐️

Fucking Daniel May. 😂 I get this author’s newsletter and was so excited to read he was going back to these erotically weird books over the “real” ones he’d been putting out lately. Daniel May’s books make me question my sanity. I hated this, loved it just as much, thought the sex scenes were both hot and cringy AF in a way only he can pull off. That’s a compliment. 😘 All the characters in this are terrible, alllll of them and yet I couldn’t get enough of their idiotic despicable ways.

We have Tony, the grease/spider monkey who thinks with his dick and is dumb as fuck. He’s a mechanic and is fucking smitten, no, obsessed with this older silver foxed man who gets his car serviced there. Ezra Fontaine has this snooty air to him but Tony finds out through his cousin that Ezra is really a submissive and makes it his job to snare him. Ezra might have money but he’s despicable too in his own way. In the 3rd or so chapter Tony gets high AF and becomes “the dragon” which made me cackle anytime it was brought up. The fact this dumb fuck Tony thinks he’s this regal creature 🤣🤣🤣 This was soooo out there and it reminded me of something. One unhinged story deserves another after all.

So, when I was 15, I had to get back surgery for Scoliosis because I had a major S curve and if nothing was done I’d have been hunched over by the time I was 18. I had this crazy long 14 hour surgery where they fused a bar to my spine and I grew 3 inches. It’s a bigger deal than that but this is the short version. Anyway, this surgery also laid me out in the hospital for 2 weeks and a lot of it is a blur because of the medication I was taking. It made me hallucinate and have crazy nightmares that I’d wake up from but still be experiencing. The entire time I was in the hospital, I thought I was in a dungeon with brick walls and people had to walk down a flight of stairs to get to me. I had these batshit crazy dreams about black DRAGONS that were 100ft tall with gold coins for scales and it was always windy so I could hear them clinking together like wind chimes. The fucked part is I would wake up from these nightmares and the dragon would be in my hospital room, looming there, big teeth dripping blood, scales clinking and I would start freaking out. I learned later on that what I experienced were actual clinical nightmares and that everyday ones are just called bad dreams. During discharge I remember looking around the white room dumbfounded that it was bright and not the dark brick dungeon I thought I was in. The surgery went fine and if it wasn’t for the scar, I might forget I actually had it but to this day I still vividly remember the fucking dragons and while reading this, I had major flashbacks to that time.

Of course my dragons didn’t have a tail shaped like a fucking sex tentacle or any of the other warped shit Daniel May thought up but they were still fucking bizarre much like this book. But I think the most crazy thing about this book is the fact Ezra and Tony only maybe speak 10 words to each other the entire time? And yet the dragon thing near the end was a romantic gesture in its own weird way. I could tell that despite Tony being Tony, he adored Ezra in his own wicked way which is why I’m bumping this book up to 4 stars. I hated it but I also had a great time reading it. This book makes me want to give Princess another try because I got it for free ages ago but when I tried to read it, it was too much 😬 But now, I seem to gravitate towards all the books I initially put off because they were too dark or fucking batshit crazy. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also, Daniel May said he had a good time writing this book and it shows. More like this please!

”The Dragon King’s reptilian lips stretched in a grin. He sent the tip of his tail crawling through the bars, a long, sinewy black and gold tentacle that crept across the stone floor and climbed the bed to touch the General’s ankle.”

“I am the dragon. I am the dragon. The dragon. I am the Dragon King!”

We have Tony (19), a rich kid who turned his back on his parents' money and is now working as a mechanic. DILFs are his preferences. Ezra ‘EZ’ (50s) is a divorced, cutthroat CEO and the highlight of Tony’s day when he brings his precious cars in. Tony is already obsessed with Ezra but when he learns that Ezra is a submissive, slutty pierced bottom? Everything changes. Tony knows that in order to pull in a man of Ezra’s reputation he’s going to need some help because it’s not going to be easy but he’ll do anything to get his hands on him.

“His cock throbbed like something poisoned. He needed, he needed to have his silver fox, his beautiful silver slave, his obsession, split and panting on his cock, bouncing against him.”

“The answer was no, obviously. Tony had not ‘thought’ about anything for the past three weeks that did not involve collars, manacles, lube, sucking (dick and/or face), fucking, bondage, or anything tangentially related to getting sloppy with Ezra Fontaine.”

I really liked this novella! I really enjoy Daniel May’s writing. It’s quirky, fun and hilarious. I just love his depraved and obsessive MCs. Tony reminded me of Isaac from Claiming the Cleanfreak with that one track obsession with his crush. I loved being inside Tony’s delusional mind and I couldn’t help laughing because Tony is honestly crazy.

I also loved the degradation and humiliation kink we get. We get a D/s and Master/Slave dynamic as well. Ezra is a famous submissive in his circle, one that has been used and branded. However, Tony wants to not only get a chance to sleep with him but own him as well. I loved how he got to stamp his ownership on his back removing everyone else’s.

This book is not dark but it’s depraved and has a lot of kinks and elements that some people may not enjoy so please check TWs. Overall I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read what is next in this series.

I cackled through this whole thing. In glee.

Not so much an HEA as an FEA (f*cking ever after). The only words these guys exchanged were during or related to sex, so I'm not seeing a deep soul connection here. But they are going to shag each others' brains out until Ezra's (eventual, inevitable) hip replacement, and: godspeed, boys. Very happy for you both.

The dragon stuff was both deeply silly and extremely effective in getting us into Tony's mindset.

Some typos and funky grammar issues, but not enough to make me round down.

This is part of the same loosely connected series as Princess and Claiming the Clean Freak (which I haven't read, and am now legit scared of), but it is NOT dark. This is straight (heh) erotic romance, kinky but not extreme, and a chill, good time.

Funny, brisk, and scorchingly hot. Love the cover, too.

I got an ARC from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review.

❝He couldn't help but admire his own work. Great cumshot. Great dick pic. Even his texts were solid, somehow managing to sell the farce that Tony was more than a nineteen-year-old horndog blessed with a bigger dick than he deserved.❞

3.5 stars. Stealing the Silver Fox was ridiculous in a good way. Who knew erotica, humour and dragons was a winning combination! I really enjoyed the writing. Daniel May has a way with words that is clever and unique.

Tony's character was fun and a bit over the top with his dragon dreams. He's a good example of faking it until you make it... How else would a nineteen-year-old slacker end up being a rich silver fox's master. Whenever he felt doubt creep in or lacked confidence, the dragon king took over and absolutely nailed it. "After all, no one had dictated these texts for him. They had come from somewhere in his brain. Some sneaky, hidden corner, where another fragment of mind lurked."

Ezra remained a bit mysterious as the story was told from Tony's POV only, but I liked him. You could feel his desperation and eagerness to be Tony's. I cannot not mention his piercings... they were the star of the show in one scene in particular at the club, and it was hot.

If you want a high heat story that can make you laugh, I recommend picking up this one!

I received a copy of this book from GRR, and this is my honest review.

I’m sticking with 4⭐️ because I more enjoyed this than not, but this is a bizarre fever dream of an erotica and I don’t really know how to rate it.

Tony is a 19yo former-rich kid turned mechanic. He’s crashing in one of his cousin’s apartments and when he’s not working he’s hooking up with DILFs. His ultimate dream guy comes in to the shop and with the help of his cousin he sets to work on becoming 52yo Ezra’s master.

There’s a D/s dynamic, piercings, public sex, and heaps of degradation. Plus a dream like series of thoughts about dragons… full disclosure I skipped a bit of that because it was very strange. Like the metaphor made sense but it went on for ages in places. It’s not my favourite by Daniel May but it was funny and unhinged horny and a pretty solid addition to this series.

Absolutely freaking delicious. I adored this lovely little filthy book to bits.

"Stealing the Silver Fox" is fun, so so so fun, and so hilarious I cackled out loud, so damn enjoyable and gripping I managed to devour it in one sitting. It also might be the hottest book I've read in a long, long time: I think I blushed from start to finish.
This was my first Daniel May, but I'm pretty sure it won't be my last because I loved his writing: it's witty, it's hot, it's fresh, it's hilarious, and his protagonist, Tony, is certainly one of a kind. He's loud and immature, filthy and arrogant and overbearing, and his thoughts had me either in stitches (or in a state of perpetual blush).

< “There’s this guy I’m into,” he said, playing it up, going all puppy-dog eyes. “But I can’t get him to look twice at me.”
“You?” Goff’s dry voice was only half-mocking; he was aware of Tony’s propensity for working his way through a population of DILFs like an invasive predator. “Say it isn’t so. Have you tried subtly banging out a set of clap push-ups when he walks by?” >

I wouldn't call what he and Fontaine have a romance because their journey towards a happy ending is pure, non-stop erotica (plus, a few absolutely hilarious scenes between Tony and his Don-like cousin Goff; and some very OTT, but fun nonetheless, dream scenarios featuring hot, and vaguely non-con, dragon/human shenanigans), and also because it's fairly non-typical. I still freaking loved it though, and their (happy, filthy) ending leaves the reader with the certainty that their relationship will one of pure, unadulterated bliss.

We don't get Fontaine's POV, which I thought was a pity because I wanted to see Tony through his eyes, but their scenes together were fantastic and they featured some of my favourite tropes and kinks: opposites attract, reverse age gap with a much younger Dom and an older sub, degradation kink that was *chef's kiss*, and my absolute favourite trope of these past few months, AKA stuffy, high-strung, used-to-getting-what-he-wants CEO being utterly undone by a scruffy, commanding man half his age, with the filthiest mouth. It also featured a fair dose of dub-con, and badly negotiated kink; BUT oh god, I'm obsessed.

Anyway, I absolutely adored this novel, and I'm excited to read more of Daniel May's backlist. I wonder if Goff has a novel already? He definitely left an impression, and I'd be very, very excited to read more of him. In the meantime, I'm already looking forward to re-reading this.
Wholly recommended.

(And also thank you Nicole! <3 without your review I wouldn't have given this delicious morsel of a book a chance, so yes, thank you!!!!!!)

Thank you GRR for the ARC. I received it in exchange for an honest review.

Horny but make it funny.

This was such a fun read. The book is all from Tony’s POV, who happens to be very horny, very ridiculous disaster in the best way possible.

Younger dom, older experienced sub. Even the premise and how they meet being a bit bonkers it also manages to be quite sweet.

Very recommended

Lol no but seriously, this for me wasn’t the best of the series, I think it needs another pass to fix some typos and drop about 50% of the italics. However it was very funny!

I think this book is listed for another writer named Daniel May who is not the MM writer.
This book is written by Daniel May who wrote ‘Claiming the Cleanfreak’ and other non-typical ‘romance.’
Perhaps they are the same Daniel May?
Thanks for a comment if you know!

SPOILERS AHEAD in my review.

“A Daniel May book with a regular plot line?”, was my oh, so naive thought when I saw this. A cold, superior, gorgeous silver fox businessman, and deep submissive, and a nineteen year old good looking, goofy acting, garage apprentice, and he becomes the Master? Unusual, but, okay, I’ve read a similar dynamic. Yeah, no. This was deep, very deep, very, very deep humiliation kink.
There was a lot crammed into a fairly short book and none of it was romance. Yet, it was all consensual and there was no torture or hurt for the fun of it. It was almost a respectful relationship, with no respect. There was appreciation for what was being given and taken. It is all through Tony’s POV, but since Ezra accepts what is being done to him, the appreciation is mutual. As in a previous book, ‘Claiming the Cleanfreak’, the character of Zachary Goff features here and we learn he is Tony’s perhaps mob connected cousin. He also knows about Ezra Fontaine’s proclivities and might have participated. Zach has a loose control over Tony and wants Tony to work for him. Tony, for some reason that I could not understand, tells Zach everything about his relationship with Ezra from the beginning and he also tells his straight couple roommates. Zach almost orchestrates what the scenes might be and Tony gives him the follow up. Weird. The entire book is, but my vanilla brain was trying to turn it into normal. Not possible here, but the author does know how to write. There is very little dialogue and no conversation between the two men. There is an extended scene in the middle of the book that is the best thing about the narrative. It is set in a private room within a private club and all the details are so well written. With just a few sentences the relationship between dom and sub is solidified and for me it made sense, but only on a reread. There is beautiful description of what Ezra is wearing. There is a sex scene, and I have to give the author props for the writing of this scene and the other sex scenes in the book. They are crazy good with high level intensity and imagery.
I should mention that all through the story, beginning after Ezra comes into the garage for his car and acting dismissive, and after Tony gets a tarot reading, he starts dreaming of a dominant and powerful dragon altar ego and from this dragon energy when he awakens he knows how to control Ezra, instead of being a big, good looking goofball. Honestly, I did a lot of skimming because it went from straight to corkscrew pretty quickly with the dream sequences and the level of humiliation and degradation in the scenes. I read the ending soon in to be sure no one was injured in the making of this book, lol. Then, I went back and reread and my estimation of the book went way up. Is this my reading jam? No. Am I going to recommend it to read? I’m not sure, it’s pretty heavy, but the writing is excellent for what it is.

Very fun, unexpectedly hilarious and a fascinating character study. May excels at characters that are not Good People but making them understandable anyway. The non-communication communication is interesting - the way they don’t really talk but instead pay very close attention to non-verbal cues and reactions and unsaid implications. Interspersed with dragon scenes that are both hilarious hallucinations and a fascinating writing device.

Similar to Claiming the Cleanfreak in tone, and a non-traditional d/s dynamic similar to For Real (younger, less socially powerful dom). Not for the faint of heart.

Lemme just say: Tony is wild. Imagining himself as a dragon, having dragon dreams, naming an alternate of himself ‘the dragon’. All because of a tarot card? Wild. Crazy. But if that’s how he gets himself into the proper mindset to be able to dominate? Who am I to say otherwise. Him being 19 while doing this? Also crazy, like absolutely bonkers. No wonder there were multiple parts where he’s suddenly insecure and unsure of what to do. But that’s just a part of his character building, everyone’s a little crazy. Add in him being an absolute nasty bed partner but also giving and wanting to give Ezra pleasure first????? *chef’s kiss*

Also, EZ Ezra Fontaine kinda hurt my heart a little at the end there when he hinted that he thought Tony wanted their situation to be a secret, hinting at an insecurity regarding his age, and numerous prior “partners” and health status (because Tony used a toy instead), and (once Tony understood what he was saying) all Tony said was “that’s not a problem” and then they did the deed.

Mind you, this is NOT a healthy “relationship”. Literally not even in the slightest. I literally think they said like 6 sentences to each other, not including Tony’s texts or Ezra’s….verbalizing. I don’t even think Ezra knows Tony’s real name (aside from ‘master’ obviously)???????? But that’s fine. We’re not reading this book for HEALTHY; we’re reading it because Daniel May’s writing and detailing and metaphors and just everything is both hilarious and downright NASTY.

Thanks for reading my Ted talk. Claiming the Cleanfreak is one of my favorite books so you know, I’m a little crazy. Maybe not Tony the Dragon crazy, but still. Excellent. I’m rereading Princess next.

Written in single POV through the eyes of Tony. He is young, and it's hard to remember his age because heknows what he's doing and what he wants. We first meet him when he is at work in the garage and we are given snippets of what his tastes are. Tony dreams about dragons and this becomes significant to his mindset and building up to his quest in getting his man. It adds a different dynamic to the narrative but makes sense when you remember his age and possible lack of experience. Sometimes his mask of confidence slips, he has to think inner dragon to get his focus. This is a clever book, and the scenes are sinfully written, although I would have loved to have heard from Ezra at times,  by proxy it actually gave us a deeper sense of Ezra's submissive nature, powerless to Tony's demands; a secret between only a few, to be a powerful success to onlookers and business associates but needing the stark contrast to balance and center.  A novella that certainly packs a punch in the submissive world and
I loved the ending and how Tony has planned to make him his and eradicate anyone who had come before. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I really liked the blurb plus it’s a short read.
It’s basically porn w/ minimal plot and minuscule character development. We never get why Tony is the way he is and vice versa for Fontaine.

This book took a lot of bizarre turns. The dragon 🐉 king stuff was especially weird!

Basically a 19 year old mechanic subjugated a over 40 mega rich business man. Sure. AND more than that there is no discussion of limits, safewords or really any talking at all 😳😳😳 A slave/ master relationship kinda needs a bit of a discussion eeeeek
The ending was also super abrupt and left you with many plot holes. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Eh

I don’t know. This left me feeling a little…meh. Don’t get me wrong, Daniel May knows how to weave a messed up tale, but this just didn’t seemed very…coordinated? It was kind of jumbled here and there interspersed with these weird dragon dreams. Tony was absolutely ludicrous, but I liked him a whole lot.

Ezra remained a mystery the whole book since we didn’t get his POV. We actually don’t get much dialogue from him at all and that left me feeling a little lacking.

This was an overall okay read, but kind of disappointing for me.

Absurd and horny and fun.

There’s just something about the writing that amuses me so much. It’s a bit self aware, like the author is telling this story at a standup comedy club. This is extremely horny and vivid, with much more erotic content than plot. I still enjoyed it thoroughly.

Also. The Mini reference! I died.

This was a wild ride! I guess I should have expected that going in, but I was not prepared for the craziness that is Tony. 🤣 That boy made the whole thing worth it. I should know by now to expect a good dose of humor going into a Daniel May book, but this one had my face hurting from some of the things going through Tony's head. 🐉 The line about Sour Patch Kids will forever be burned into my brain.

Although this story doesn't have the tropes I usually go for, I'm always willing to give Daniel May a shot. Sometimes he's too much and I have to tap out, but this oddly worked for me. Since the book is supposed to take place in the same universe as his Taste of Ink series, is it safe to assume that Mini is the tattoo artist doing Ezra's dragon tattoo? If that was referenced in TOI, I don't remember. Regardless, I'm going to choose to believe it's true because I love Mini with my whole heart. 💙

”Tony knew nothing about Ezra C. Fontaine except the stuff that really mattered: he was divorced, he was keeping it tight at fifty-two (in what was probably a big, spiteful ‘fuck you’ to his ex-husband), and he had a long, fat cock.”

I have loved every Daniel May book I’ve read and this was no exception! After binging the hanged men series I wasn’t sure what to expect when the author announced this was the next release and it’s quite different in some ways.. it’s way more smutty (it is erotica 😄), it’s completely character driven however it has all the pithy prose that I’ve become used to from the author

It’s an absolute filthy fun ride that feels so surreal in its telling as it weaves the story of these two men. I sometimes had a bit of difficulty reconciling the dichotomies in 19 yr old Tony’s character and his substance fueled dreams of his dragon awakening definitely helped bridge the gap of the the idealistic, stubborn, cavalier man estranged from his family to the master coming into owning his power over the object of his lust. His submissive however is the older and powerful Ezra Fontaine who is a needy inferno under his impeccable suits and these two had chemistry that was white hot!

I quite enjoyed how the story was at a point in time, I found the ending quite sweet but how it concludes left me wanting more, which isn’t a bad thing I guess 😄. I also don’t feel I know enough about Goff’s motivations but the author has another book featuring him which I will be checking out :)

Expect:
* Age gap
* Substance use
* D/s
* Kink heavy including degradation, pain, dub/non con
* Piercings
* Opposites attract
* Younger Dom

4.5🌟

This book is FUN from start to finish. The humor is brilliant and the characters are endearing. You can’t help but root for Tony, an idiot who’s blessed with a monster schlong and naturally sadistic instincts. Luckily for him, Ezra is so blinded by the last two attributes that he seems to miss the first. I can’t say I blame him though, because their sex scenes are incredibly hot with underlying sweetness. I powered through this story in one sitting and loved it but I was disappointed to reach the end. I would love to read more about how their dynamic develops!

The first 10% had me drooling with the way Daniel May described Ezra, the 52 year-old Silver Fox, from 19-year old Tony's POV. Damnnnnnn, does Daniel have a way with words. (If you haven't read his Taste of Ink series. You're missing out! Same level of sexiness and description, oof).

So hot 🔥 🥵 . The texts and videos before they actually meet, gosh what a tease! But oh so sexy and oomph, edging the reader with the MC as well.

Tony is a cocky little shit, but is the perfect "master" dominant to Ezra who has a pain and degradation/humiliation kink. This doesn't go too deeply into the bdsm realm, so I'm glad since usually I only enjoy bdsm-lite, and this was it. Not too deep in the lifestyle and just engaging it during sexy times yummmmm.

The epilogue was very abrupt though, so I wished the last chapter was more like 2 or 3 more chapters focused on when they actual end up in an official relationship. And I'm kinda worried about Tony's cousin, Zachary Goff, getting some kind of revenge. I wonder if he'll get a book.

Ezra and Tony 🔥

3.5⭐️

Ok, I'm gonna be honest so here it goes.....A quick summary of this read: not much of a story, the mc's didn't have one in depth conversation but the filth, kink and smut was absolutely on point 🔥 I was a bit confused by Tony's inner dialogue but then again the smut and deliciousness kept me plenty busy 😜 I'd recommend, especially if you are looking for high spice with little substance.

* I received an ARC from GRR, this is my open and honest review *
