*If you like a realistic yet steamy depiction of the Regency and Victorian era, then The Traumatized Duke is the novel for you.
An enchanting regency romance of 80,000 words (around 400 pages), written by Sally Vixen and published by Cobalt Fairy.
No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a strong happily ever after.

It was a very slow paced romance. I mean they didn’t kiss until after 50% of the story. I enjoyed seeing them falling in love with each other. So sweet!
I’m back to read the first in the series.

Adam is a duke, but he's also a top shelf rake. What no one knows is just how much damage he suffered during his formative years, and how it shaped him.
Nancy has dreamed of a love match, which is why she would never break the rules of society. Sadly, her world is upended, leaving her believing that her dream has become a nightmare.
I began reading this entertaining tale without much expectation of a different plot, but the characters were likable and engaging so I kept reading. Indeed, the beginning seemed to stick to what I expected. However, with each chapter, The Traumatized Duke started taking several plot turns, that ended up leading to a final (suspected) twist.
On a side note, the sexually intimate scenes are most beautifully written. Sally Vixen has a uniquely descriptive (almost poetic) writing style. Also, on a smile-worthy note, the epilogue and extended epilogue are very sweet.
Content 411: This book contains secular and religious swearing (no vulgarities), as well as a couple of described sex scenes.
I would have liked to see maybe more flashbacks of Adam when he was younger (a little like Simon in The Duke and I) to showcase his trauma a little better. But I do like that the marriage of convenience here was different - not at all like the previous mentioned The Duke and I or The Viscount Who Loved Me. It was different and I enjoyed that.
Wonderful story and characters. Ms. Vixen never disappoints in her writing of a story,in fact she just gets better. Harry has shadows in his life from his father who was a brute to his mother and him. For the last ten years he gas been a complete rake until he meets Nancy at a balk while she is standing by the lake and he thinks she us someone else. He marries her thinking that they will have a month together and go their separate ways never thinking that she is his cure from the last and they will fall in love and have their HEA. Wonderful book and happy reading.😊
Great story told from beginning to end. It shows that people can change with the right incentive. This traumatized Duke was a rake for a very long time and thought to give love or be loved meant pain. But when an innocent lady can along, even though their start was unusual, the kindness she showed him, even though she believed she could never trust or believe a rake, he wanted to change and be a better person. But they still had trials and obstacles to overcome, but once the trust was established, everything else became easy and no one could shake that bond. This lead to their happily ever after. Great title and great story.
I enjoyed this story. Duke Adam is regarded as a rake. He comes across Lady Nancy in a garden and mistakes her for his mistress. Nancy is upset at being accosted and, during their argument, they are discovered together. They are forced to marry but Adam is determined he will not fall in love. There are lots of misunderstandings and a lack of trust. Will Nancy be able to find her true friends? Will Adam find his false friends? Will Nancy be able to change the ways of a rake? This is a good, well-written story.
A story that begins with how being in the wrong place at the wrong time can change your life forever. It could also be how being in the right place at the right time can also change your life. When Adam Robins, the Duke of Stapleton and Nancy Swinton meet in an unusual way beside a lake, neither realizes the impact this will have on their futures. This is a story of friendship, family, abuse, greed, dysfunctional families, deception and hope. Just beware there are some very graphic scenes detailed.
I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
This is the second book in the Brides of Convenience series and it was as delightful as the first. This book seemed to have less serious drama and difficulties and the characters fell in love faster but all-in-all, it was a well-written, fun, romantic Regency romance with a bit of a twist that I didn’t see coming. Well worth the read!
Adam was most noted rake and rogue in England, while trying to find his latest conquest, chasing through a maze, mistaking seeing a blond lady standing by the lake at the first ball of th3 season, walking up behind her Ang hugging her, and she screams! Well everyone knows the outcome. A wedding of convenience, will go to his country estate for a month and then they can’t go their way without any strings. Of course you know that never happens!
This was delightful book. I loved the hero strong character of the heroine. At first I thought the hero a bit frivolous but later his back story reveals he acts the way he did. I love a happy ending and this book delivered. Speaking of deliveries the extended epilogue is a treat not to be missed.
Nancy is the perfect wife for Adam who is the worst rake ever. She is his cure and angel. Adam can finally leave his rakish ways behind and fall in love with his wife. But big bad Harry (Adam’s friend) cannot accept that his friend has changed plotted his ruin. Lovely the story and totally recommend
Adam is not only a Duke but a total rake trying to forget his brutal upbringing Nancy is an innocent dreaming of finding true love when she is accidentally compromised by Adam. A marriage of convenience follows but can Nancy and Adam find true love when there are people trying to foil their happiness. Great story loved it
The story line has some unexpected twists which add to the enjoyment of the story.
The actions and complications of the hero’s personality are thoughtfully revealed in a discussion with a character close to him. The heroine learns the importance of trust.
The story is sweet and satisfying. I remain impressed with Sally Vixen’s talent.
Scandal brings Adam and Nancy together and while Adam intends it to be a short marriage before they live separately secrets come to light that allow Adam to love Nancy
I highly recommend that you get this book and read or listen to it yourself, then you will definitely find out exactly what happens. I'm absolutely sure. that you will enjoy this incredibly emotional book.
Well the story picked up speed and interest slowly and steadily making it worth reading without skipping .I thought about a similar story but this appeared different and interesting like we Indians say garam Masada.Thank you amazon.
A wonderful romance story that was supposed to be a marriage in name only until they truly fell in love with each other and it became a completely true marriage, I loved the characters and really enjoyed reading this story.
Love this story and their two main characters of; Adam and Nancy. He believed himself incapable of Love. She had always allowed others to guide her life. Together, they both realized what they been missing. Highly Recommend!
slow paced romance but i liked it! the plot twist at the end truly shocked me tbh bc i’ve always hated character and my instinct was right to do so!!!!!
I felt bad for Nancy for having her dreams ruined all because of a stupid misunderstanding with Adam. I felt like Adam was whiny and didn’t deserve Nancy as he kept pulling himself away anytime she got close to him. Wasn’t a bad book, just had a whiny guy character
