What's worse than becoming a single dad? When your baby is secretly a dragon shifter. Dragons don't exist. At least, that was what Elson used to believe, until he's suddenly the legal guardian of a nine-month-old baby. Who breathes fire. There are precious few resources on how to care for a dragon child. Worse, his rent is way overdue, and a towering hulk of a man is at his door demanding payment. In his desperation, Elson offers himself as compensation. One night of service for a week's shelter. But the problem might be too big for him to handle. Yaeger is no human, and he's starting to see through Elson's pretenses that baby Sunnie is just a regular child...
This is a 46k-word dragon shifter MPreg novella. Get ready for a baby who sprouts wings at the most inconvenient times, a politically-incorrect main character, size difference, tail shenanigans, sentient shopping carts, and a sappy HEA! No cheating!
This story is beyond ridiculous in every conceivable way.
There's no world building whatsoever.
There are dragons, shifters, vampires, alchemists (who can turn people to dust with bare hands), and sentient trolleys (shopping carts).
There are also cars, grocery stores, and smart phones, but in this world you're responsible for your sibling's debt, don't need a doctor's appointment for an ultrasound, and someone can just hand you a baby no questions asked.
There are dragon cocks and lots of cum, but the plot makes no sense.
The character are cookie-cutter. The dragon shifter is growly and possessive, and Elson is a damsel in distress.
If you need further proof that rating inflation is prevalent on Goodreads and that some authors pay for positive reviews, this trash has an overall rating of 4.02 stars, while Soul Eater, Lily Mayne's brilliant debut novel, has 4.28. I rest my case.
4 stars! ❤️ Loved this out-of-the box story; I normally don’t read this genre, but was tempted after reading a few reviews. This was an incredibly sweet, very funny and very very steamy magical creatures book.. 😍😍 I was enthralled by this world, the characters, the MCs and their friends. It was marvelously entertaining. Highly recommended to fans of the paranormal genre who enjoy equal amounts of fun ❤️and heat 🔥👍🏻👍🏻 Thank you to Nicole!! 🥰
Very cute. Anna Wineheart is one of my favourites in the mpreg/omegaverse genre, but I love her the most when the books are angsty and tough, instead of fluffy and OTT. Nonetheless, "How To Hide Your Dragon Baby" is a quick, steamy, fun read: I was mainly interested in the second book, but since this one is so short, I figured I'd better start here. The world-building was a tad confusing, but all in all, this was bonkers and sweet and damned steamy. I'm curious to get to know Liem and Samsen a bit more!
Well it was definitely cute, I liked their interactions it felt genuine, it still take convincing to me that they will a reliable parents tho, it's unrealistic as fuck on how the story progress but whatever it's fiction I'll let it pass. I liked the title chapters I think that's the most fun one beside their interaction with sunnie well its cute rather than fun. I loved how demanding and possessive yaeger is.
I literally had to asked the author on Facebook what's a Mae?
It's a fucking magical stroller I thought it was a pet since English is not my first language
This book throws you right into a situation without any sense of world building at all, so the reader has absolutely no idea what is going on, or what the rules of this omegaverse are.
Now, I noticed there was another series set in the same place but there's zero indication that you should read that first before picking up this mPreg series.
So, as I hit the first chapter of this book, it was looking like it would be a DNF because I was totally baffled by the setting.
However, the more ridiculous things got, the more insane the plotline developed, the more "overly smutty" and "dirty talky-y" this book got, the more I couldn't put it down.
This has to be one of the biggest confusion of narratives and plot threads left dangling in a book that I've ever read.
It could have done with at least some explanation of why there were sentient shopping trolleys before the 20% mark, and I could have done without the 'damsel in distress' element, but, you know what, it kept me reading!
So that's definitely worth at least 3* in my book. I will likely read the rest of the series too, just to see if they can get any more crazy than this did!
I wanted to like this—I’ve enjoyed other books by this author—but this was just too much. Between the sentient buggy and the ridiculous behavior of the main characters, it was hard for me to suspend disbelief and engross myself into the story. And I’ve read monster porn and books where Minotaurs are milked for their…milk, so that’s saying something.
This was a fun one and pretty straight forward. I liked that it looks like it's going to be essentially two groups of friends matching up, keeping the circle close. Sunnie was chaotic and the fire damage made me cringe, as did the initial offering, and the supermarket veg picking. So awkward. I liked Henry, he kept the story light with the embarrassing childhood stories. It was a little insta given Yeager pretty much went 'mine'. Elson trying to hide his niece's secret was comical, especially when it was pointless. Sweet, fast paced with some fun elements and some shadowy bad guys.

Okay. This was actually pretty cute. Elson was delightfully clueless and Yaeger was slightly hapless in an adorable way.
Possessive dragon meets struggling alchemist and *ahem* sparks fly. Poor Elson is struggling so much to be a parental figure to Sunnie while having absolutely no idea how to do it. Yaeger comes along at the perfect time to help Elson. I loved them together and we even got a slight mystery to follow into the next book.
I will say this: the sentient shopping carts were weird. A lot weird. I feel like there should have been way more backstory on that one. Still, this book wasn’t as long and chunky as some other Wineheart books. I quite enjoyed this and will be interested to see where this series takes us.
It was okay. It was a little confusing to understand what was going on. I think it was because it was switching from first person to third person. The relationship also progress a little faster than I liked. He hated him one minute and the next they were doing the deed. Putting vegetables inside you it’s not a sexy as she thinks. I found it kind of icky. To top it off he wanted to use the vegetables after he used them. He literally stick them inside him I was like oh no, no, no, you can’t possibly want to put them in fridge for later.
A cute book about how to bring up a baby dragon. Of course it helps if one of the partners is a dragon himself. Enjoyed this story. Glad to see there will be another book next year which will explore Elson's friends as I thought not much was said about them esp the Vamp. I also guess I'll never look at certain vegetables again.
This is a cute, engaging, story that I could not put down. There is a little something for everyone within the pages of this story from humor, mystery, and love. I am hoping there will be more to come in this world.
It's just a bit too much of a conflict between all the sweet and cute and babies and save the babies and the like AND then all out huge 'sex fest' with the endlessly repeating '... how do we even get it to fit in?' - theme and let's purposefully procreate with a complete stranger ....
It doesn't fit well together. You can do one or the other, but for me it doesn't really work put in together. It's a style crash. It simply doesn't work for me. I read multiple and the theme didn't move on at all. What's wrong in this, doesn't get better while the series goes on. The series IS fun, though. If what I'm objecting to isn't something that bothers you, it's logically even much more enjoyable. Lots of dragons and sweet and cute plus also crazy butlers!
Okay, it has been a while since I had entered the world of Anna Wineheart her books. Lets say a trip to the green grocers will never be the same 😵. The parts in relation to the vegetables and their 'creative use' where a bit much for me. The story is a saviour mm shifter (dracon)/ paranormal one with a your my mate story line. I liked the idea of the book, however I missed a well built world. I also felt a lot of story sequences where left loose; where did the friends go both from both of them, who was the attacker, where did Mae go to e.a.? Sunnie was cute tough. I will try the second book in the series just to find out if this is it or that it was just the start up to a new series.
My 2024 Reading Challenge for the month of February will be Beat The Backlog work (digital and print books). This includes-- You know what? Fuck it. My dog died and then I got the flu. This month has fucking sucked. I'm reading what I want right now, because I might make me happy. Here's Anna Winheart's "How To Hide Your Dragon Baby." It's the first novel in her Closet Baby Chronicles series. ["What's worse than becoming a single dad? When your baby is secretly a dragon shifter.
Dragons don't exist. At least, that was what Elson used to believe, until he's suddenly the legal guardian of a nine-month-old baby. Who breathes fire.
There are precious few resources on how to care for a dragon child. Worse, his rent is way overdue, and a towering hulk of a man is at his door demanding payment.
In his desperation, Elson offers himself as compensation. One night of service for a week's shelter.
But the problem might be too big for him to handle. Yaeger is no human, and he's starting to see through Elson's pretenses that baby Sunnie is just a regular child..."]
I'm not sure what it is about fated mates that's like cliched-crack to me, but it is. I just love it so much! Especially when one (or both) of the people involved are in denial about their feelings? Like gahhh! Yes!!! Add bits of magical realism to your fantasy (or fantasy to your fantasy) plus some mystery and a baby? You have a winner right here.
Elson never expected his quiet, struggling life to turn into a full-blown fantasy. One moment, he’s dodging rent collectors and trying not to get burned by the baby girl he’s somehow become guardian to , a baby who breathes fire. The next, a massive, intimidating man named Yaeger shows up at his door, demanding payment.
Desperate, Elson offers himself in exchange for shelter, not realizing Yaeger is far more than human , and that this deal will change everything. What begins as a desperate bargain quickly spirals into a whirlwind of heat, chaos, and unexpected tenderness. Because Yaeger isn’t just any man; he’s a dragon shifter who sees straight through Elson’s secrets… and into his heart.
Between baby Sunnie’s fiery hiccups, a magically self-moving shopping cart, and a hilariously nosy butler named Henry, the story balances humor and danger perfectly. There are enemies after Sunnie, mysterious deaths in Elson’s family, and a love that grows stronger the more impossible it seems.
Anna Wineheart blends filthy-sweet chemistry, laugh-out-loud moments, and genuine emotion into a world where dragons, vampires, and wolves collide with modern life. It’s steamy, fast-paced, and unexpectedly wholesome, a story about found family, trust, and how love can feel a lot like getting kidnapped… consensually, of course.
Elson and Yaeger's story definitely has a beginning out of the norm but it puts them in each other's orbit with Yaeger going one step further in politely 'kidnapping' Elson and his young niece, Sunnie. With him struggling to care for her, pay bills and just get through the day, he's open to any help he can get. I love Anna's writing as she clearly has fun with her characters, getting them into all sorts of situations, and there is always at least one scene involving vegetables of some type. Yaeger doesn't disappoint as the alpha male, soon becoming possessive and needy of Elson. I did find him a bit hard to like to begin with until we learn he basically has x height of gold but just can't help himself around Elson, who may just be his mate. Elson has been struggling for such a long time, it's great that he now has support for everything, including Sunnie. I'm interested and hopeful that we get to read more on Elson's friends, Liem and Samson, especially if it involves the threat that came at Elson and Sunnie in this one. Another great read from Anna. Lots of knotty and sizeable fun with sweeter moments dotted throughout. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
I loved the worldbuilding in this new series, the quirky humor and the sweetness of the found-family aspect of the story. Elson is a bit awkward at times, but also very brave and loving, and I adored him. He is so modest and self-effacing. And Sunnie, she’s such a sweetheart and a little fiery rascal! Yaeger is a bit of a mystery at first, domineering but caring, and hiding a warm heart underneath his gruff, scaly exterior. The heat between Yaeger and Elson is incredible. How could it be anything else, with Yaeger being a dragon? I’ll never look at produce the same way again. I really enjoyed the humor, sexy times and even the more scary, suspenseful scenes when our heroes confront the bad guys, but I loved the emotional connection that grew between Yaeger and Elson and the way both of them learned to appreciate and really see the other for who they are. This is a fast-paced, light-hearted, steamy read with well-written character growth and a diverse set of secondary characters. Yaeger and Elson both have loyal, interesting friends, which is so promising and I hope to see more of them in future books!
Elson is behind on rent so when someone shows up to collect he males a deal to trade favor in order keep living there. He has his baby he's having to hide because she's a dragon and people will want take her. Its rough since he's not a dragon or flame resistant. Though Yaeger is not who Elson thought he was. Not only is he able to help with flame resistant clothes for him and his daughter Sunnie, he takes them in to protect them.
I really enjoyed this and was laughing so much at times with Elson feeling embarrassed. Loved the details when came to sex scenes and how much larger Yaeger is. I didn't know I enjoyed dragon/human sex until this was hot.
There is action too with people after Sunnie because she's rare and special. The shopping cart that seemed to be magic that would come when called was unique. Felt like was missing something at first with that but was cool.
Loved the time spent with Sunnie and would love more with the baby boy in future book. Their friends were awesome. Great first read by Anna
Elson is struggling financially and in debt, living hand to mouth in his apartment that he's in rent arrears for and running round dodging burns from the fire spouting baby passed to him just a week ago. He finally has to answer the door to a large handsome hulk of a man - Yeager, who he assumes works for his landlord as he's there to collect outstanding rent. Desperate and out of ideas, he offers his body in payment and the guy agrees to extend him a free week at the flat for each service. And when he discovers Elson is starving and in debt, he kidnaps him. But with his permission of course. Elson doesn't understand why this guy is giving him fire period clothing and food, caring for him and bringing him to live in his penthouse. This is an mpreg romance with a large lusty dragon shifter, an annoying butler called Henry, equally annoying best friends on both sides, including a starving vampire, a snappy wolf and a pterodactyl. It's such good fun and Henry is hilarious. Lots of steam, sweetness, danger and laughter.
Instantly hooked on this series! Originally, the third book was recommended to me so I read the sample of that and got hooked just from that. I was told I should read the books in order so that's what I am doing and am definitely not disappointed. This book is so deliciously dirty so be prepared for that. I know (well now I do!) there is an overarching plot through the series but I wish I knew more regarding Elson's family. Like who was the sketchy guy that dropped off Sunnie? If her parents were killed to gain access to her, how did she end up with Elson? Did Petey carry Sunny? Is there an even bigger conspiracy involving their parents' deaths? Maybe we'll find out in future books. I enjoyed the characters very much and got a kick out of Henry. Yeager was like the epitome of a dragon. Highly enjoyable. The book was well edited but there were a couple sentences that tripped me up because of the order of the words. They may have only been weird to me because it wouldn't be how I would have said them so not really a big deal.
Another Anne Wineheart book of whimsy, scary bad guys, sexy saviors, and naughty good times. Like seriously, this one was dirtier than usual, and a lot of fun.
We start out with Elson the human alchemist struggling to raise and hide his dragon shifter niece. Enter Yaeger who sees right though what Elson is up to. And of course sexy times commence. There is a scary bad buy. Elson isn't so defenseless, yea! Sunny is THE CUTEST BABY EVER. Love her. My imitation of Sunny: Sneeze... sprout wings. Laugh.... eyes turn red. Ha!
Yaeger and Elson are different (cough) sizes. So there is a lot of (cough) preparing. So yea. If you don't wanna read that, then this is not the book for you. :)
This book happens in the world of the Shifters of Cartwell. It probably helps to read Dragon Boss first so you can get an idea about why the shopping carts are all "alive" - ha! I think Squeaky Mae is in that book too, but I'll need to go back and check.
This is an interesting dragon/Alchemist love story. Frankie, having taken his brother’s baby girl after his brother and wife were killed; Frankie has had his hands full ever since. It’s hard enough when you have a normal baby to raise, but to have a fire-breathing dragon baby that’s a lot of problems. He just didn’t know what to do, other than to protect her at all costs.
Frankie has no money, his apartment is burnt everywhere and he’s way past due on rent. One day Fankie’s landlord, Yeager, showed up for his money. Yeager knew the situation, I’m sure, immediately, but he struck a deal with Frankie, that Frankie could not refuse. So began their relationship as lovers-to-be that eventually ended up later with a conceptual kidnapping.
The book continues with a lot of humor and protectiveness from Yeager. I’m sure anyone who enjoys dragon stories would like this one. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
