Sage battles with herself and her own powers, fighting the darkness that threatens to consume her. She's saved by another when she's at her lowest, suffering the loss of her family. Finn, the Liminal Brigade commander, immediately takes a disliking to Sage. He doesn't trust her, and he hates her ability to get under his skin, but he needs her help. They have a common enemy who is becoming more powerful and who better to help the brigade than someone who has been in his care for years? Can Sage work alongside them while keeping her true identity a secret? Can Sage find a way to control her magic before it controls her? Choices will be made, relationships will be tested, and unknown forces will deceive them all. Sometimes our destiny is nothing more than a wicked curse.

I had the best time writing this book with Destiny. We really poured everything we had into this. Is this book perfect? Absolutely not. But it's perfect to us. We have become better writers because of this book. We will continue to grow, and I will ALWAYS look back fondly on this story. No matter how many other books we write, it's this book and these characters that I will hold dear. I hope if you read this book, it connects to you in some way, so hopefully, you can fall in love with these characters also.

Great first! I can't wait to hear more from this dynamic duo. I love the way the plot is unfolding. It's fresh and unique. I'm looking forward to the next one.

I read this one on Kindle Unlimited. There are some formating and proofreading errors, which isn't uncommon on Kindle Unlimited. Most of the novel is written from the protagonist's POV, but Chapter 40 is written from a secondary character's POV. The switch in POV kind of came out of nowhere. Additionally, it really wasn't clear if this was a magical secondary world connected to ours or a fallen kingdom with some familiar elements from our own world. Careful editing, keeping the POV consistent, and expanding on the back-story to either bridge the modern and fantasy worlds or solidify its independence would take this to 5-stars. As is, it's still an enjoyable read with plenty of twists and turns.

With excellent pacing and character development, CWD builds a new fantasy world to be invested in. By the end of the book, I felt a genuine connection to several characters and their arcs, finding myself fully invested in seeing their story progress. The next book can't come soon enough!

Wow do these authors know how to reel you in and then piss you right the fuck off over and over and over again but in the most delicious way possible. I am absolutely obsessed with this book. Finn and sage have completely broke my heart, repaired it, then broke it again. The specific details, the storyline, and the emotions are all absolutely perfect. The ending?! I think my heart was ripped to shreds. I am still mindblown and unable to choose the appropriate words to explain all my feelings/ reactions to this book.

I definitely can not wait for book 2. I am so proud of Remi and Destiny, this book absolutely blew me away. I am so proud of you both!

This book is amazing! If you haven’t read it yet, this one is a must read. From start to finish this book had me hooked. I literally couldn’t put it down. It is so well written and the pace at which events occur are perfect.

The plot line was executed beautifully, and the ending left you begging for more. You will fall in love with these characters as you follow along Sages journey. Can’t wait to see what secrets are exposed in the second book!

Officially impatiently waiting for book 2. I am left needing and wanting more. I fell in love with these characters which is such a great quality in a book. Well, not all characters. Some I would like to see dead, But anyways. Consumed With Darkness is a story that doesn’t take long to suck you in. It makes you giggle, smile, makes you angry, and keeps you reading for more. Also, Finn is extremely hot. Enough said.

I love the story and can't wait for the second book to come out. The end frustrated me because of the whole will they/won't they thing and you thought you finally got a resolution to that but then syke! But honestly that just increases the excitement for the second book. The only thing I had a little bit of a problem with was that it could have used another round of editing.
There were some typos, and the world was unclear in points. At parts I thought we were in an entirely different world, but there were a couple of references to things like southern drawls and British accents that are specific to our world so that threw me off. Also the clothing threw me off a little too because there was talk of gowns and armor and things that I would expect to see at a Ren Faire but also clothing that was described like leggings and a crop top basically like I might see on the normal streets of today. I think if those few things could be tightened up, it would be much more cohesive.

Overall a great debut book for some local ladies! So proud of their accomplishment and I am really looking forward to seeing what they do next.

This book is truly a must read. I found myself having to take breaks so I didn’t look further down onto the page! A captivating storyline that will take you for a wild ride and make you feel like you’re there with the way the authors wrote this. The amount of thought that went into this book really shows. Can’t wait for the next book!!!

this book had me hooked from the very beginning. I was reading this book until i could no longer keep my eyes open. i truly loved not having to recreate the main characters descriptions/features in my head to my own preference bc the way they were written & described was absolutely perfect. the ending only has me craving for more. i need a second book immediately! i need more sage, i need more finn, i need more spice, i need more magic!

It's not often I can finish a book in just a few days but CWD had me doing just that. From the plot to the character growth and development this book touched every aspect of an intriguing story. CWD grapples with the intense emotions of loss, betrayal, love, and beyond. As an average reader, newer to the world of Adult Fiction I think you'll be very pleased with how this book draws you in from start to finish.

Creating this world & its characters with Remington was an absolute joy that I will forever hold close to my heart.
