The Wedding Jinx

Rate this book
A a person or thing that brings bad luck.

I'm Mila Banks, the ultimate jinx. Not just in theory—I've got a track record. Seven weddings, seven disasters. Everything from a groom with a concussion to an attack of red ants (a long story) has happened because of me. So, when my bestie, Nadia, insists on making me her maid of honor, I can't help but try to find a way out of it. To make matters more complicated, my boss, Grayson Manning, is going to be the best man. Did I mention I'm head over heels for him? Well, sort of. You see, I have a knack for falling for my bosses, so it's all a tad confusing. The bottom line? My life is a bit of a disaster right now.

Here's to hoping I don't turn Nadia's big day into another catastrophe, and that, for once, I won't hand my heart to the wrong guy. My bad luck has to run out eventually, right? I guess we're going to find out. All I wish for is that, in the end, my best friend gets the dream wedding she deserves, and maybe, just maybe, I'll snag the man I truly deserve too.

The Wedding Jinx is a boss romance filled with laughs, tears, and the unforgettable chaos of weddings. Expect sizzling chemistry but low on spice.

Warning!!!! Major Gushing Ahead!!!

Oh! My! Heavens!!! Can I just tell you how much I absolutely LOVE this book?!!!!!! Serious book hangover for this one! And it's definitely in my top 5 favorite Rom-Coms that I've ever read!!!! This is big people! I was reading and advanced copy and there were some things happening in life that I needed something lighthearted and this more than delivered. I was giggling! I was beyond giggling!!! I seriously couldn't stop. I was messaging my two book besties and telling them that they HAD to read the book. And not only is the humor fantastic, but the romance and sweet love story...Happy Sigh!!! All the Heart Eyes for this deliciously perfect story!

I love some good drama and angst in books but sometimes it's just plain ol' good refreshing when you have a book where the characters are just good and there isn't all the drama and big break ups and blow ups! Mila and Grayson are just too adorable and I loved their story from beginning to end. I loved the friendship, or rather work relationship and the working hard to keep boundaries but the whole time they were attracted to and interested in each other. And oh good heavens when they start to really interact... The chemistry becomes explosive! (Don't worry, it's clean, and Grayson is such a gentleman!)

This is Becky Monson's first book having dual POV of both of the main characters and can I just say that she totally NAILED IT!!! It added so much to the story and to the humor and swoonyness by having Grayson's thoughts and POV. It was pure perfection! *Happy Sigh*

Mila and her best friend from work, Nadia, are so much fun! They started off all of my giggles. And can I just say that I would totally love being friends with both of them. They're just the best! Thumbs up and nicknames and so much more! They're seriously just so much fun!!!

And you're going to just die over the weddings! 7 weddings! Poor Mila! But they add so much more fun to this story! I might have had my mouth drop open for a couple of them or covered my mouth but I definitely let out lots of laughs over them!

I loved it all!!! The app, the plane ride, the hotel room, the waterfall, the sunburn, the red dress, the dance, that first kiss, the luau, the swimming suit, the snorkeling, Fake Dave and his picture and sooo much more!

Grab a copy and dive in! You'll be gushing, laughing and just absolutely in love with Mila and Grayson!!!

Content: Clean. There are some mild swearwords a handful of times throughout the book. There are some kisses but they are written very tastefully. The characters have to share a hotel room due to a glitch but nothing happens and the bed is divided with pillows.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

This was so much better than I expected! It was so funny and I loved it so much. I was really worried it would turn out to be another odd kindle unlimited read and was pleasantly surprised.

This will probably be the shortest review I ever write because I truly don't have a lot to say about this book.

I thought I was going to like this book and it was going to be short and sweet. It was definitely sweet but boring as well. And I hate writing reviews like this because I feel bad but this is my honest opinion😭

From the beginning it didn't grab my attention and I thought it would grow on me over time but it didn't. It had me questioning the point of this book? Like I knew the plot was Emma being a "jinx" at weddings but I felt like it wasn't cohesive with the love story with Grayson. By the end of the book I just wanted to finish it because I was over it. Have you ever had a book where you just kept reading it to say you finished it? This was that type of book😑 Also, this was a clean romance, just thought I'd add that lol.

After seven terrible wedding mishaps, Mila is convinced she’s a wedding jinx. This laugh-out-loud, hilarious romcom is the best!

Mila is a character that is easy to relate to and I appreciated that. She’s got a slightly clumsy streak, but is loyal, funny, and hard-working. I loved the friendship (in and out of work) she shared with Nadia and their secret codes to get through the job, their fashion senses, and dedication to one another. It was fun to watch them interact at work and to see Nadia’s sass and persistence come through to persuade Mila to attend her destination wedding. Well…that and Grayson’s insistence about combining it with work.

Workaholic Grayson is definitely swoonworthy! I loved how he was interested from the start, but he’s determined to do things right. Whew, those sparkles of attraction and swoon had me melting in a puddle, especially once they got to Hawaii. He’s a man worth keeping, Fake Dave and all, and I loved LOVED loved watching him interact with Mila.

Becky Monson hit this one out of the park! I loved how the chapters alternated points-of-view, as well as gradually told the story of the jinxes. This story is so, so good and is everything I love in a romcom. 👏🏻💖

Things to love:
👍🏻Thumbs ups
🏢Work besties
🛏️One bed and missing luggage
🌴A wedding trip to Hawaii
⛅A boss who takes up 94% of dreams
💃🏻A red dress and that dance!
🤿Snorkeling fiasco with a hotel swimsuit
😘Lots of swoon
😂Millions of laughs

Don’t miss out on the wedding romcom of the season!

Content: mild+ romance (kissing/make outs, some innuendo); mild language

The Wedding Jinx by Becky Monson was an absolute delight from start to finish. I was laughing throughout the whole book, it was so much fun! Mila is a doll and I loved her instantly. Her and Nadia (Mila’s best friend) were the perfect beginning. I adored their friendship. The “thumbs up” was my favorite. Grayson too was perfect. I loved their mutual hidden attraction for each other. I also loved the POV changes. To see Grayson’s thoughts about Mila was fun to read. I enjoyed how Mila’s “wedding jinx” stories were told throughout. One was so funny I read it twice! Their forced proximity for the app testing was clever and their adventure before the wedding was great. As was the kissing!

The perfect escape!

This book hit me in the feels, and I couldn’t read it fast enough. With a healthy dose of sarcasm and snark, the protagonist Mila Banks will leave you alternately giggling and swooning with her past wedding “jinx” mishaps and her interactions with her handsome-hunk-of-a-boss, Grayson.

There was so much to love about this story. Mila and Nadia, her best friend and coworker, were hilarious, and I loved their secret nicknames (ahem, BILK?!) and signals for their coworkers. Oh and Grayson? Can he be my new book boyfriend, pretty please?! With the dual point of view, each chapter starts with either Mila or Grayson’s perspective. The first time we hear from Grayson had my body tingling in giddy delight (“freaking Dave”, “butt-chin”, and the red dress, to name a few).

I really enjoyed learning about Mila’s wedding mishaps, and loved the way the story unfolded. I adored Mila and Grayson and found this book to be the perfect escape- you’ll definitely want to read this one again and again!

I loved this story so much!!

Mila Banks is jinxed. From the first two pages I fell in love with Mila and her sense of humor and wit. She always tries to make the best of what happens to her through laughter. She is someone who I’d want to be friends with in real life and she’s become one of my favorite rom-com female characters ever!

Grayson Manning, aka BILK, is such a lovesick puppy. He struggles to keep a serious exterior and just basically function like a normal human whenever Mila is around. I love that she affects him so and we get his point of view and inner monologue.

Features
💜slow burn
💜tension filled slow dancing
💜mutual pining
💜adventure
💜boss romance
💜mishaps
💜bed sharing
💜 laughs
💜swoony kisses
💜and so much more…

This book will have you smiling and laughing throughout and falling in love with Mila and Grayson.

I received a free advanced copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

3.5⭐️

I think this book is a bit cheesy for me. But I do liked the workplace romance and of course, a one bed trope! I'm not a fan of slow burns and I think that might be the reason why I'm not rating this book that high. Or that I am missing something I cannot place. It is a cute and fast read though!

Laugh Out Loud Funny

It took Mila years to realize it, but she’s a wedding jinx. Every wedding that she’s in the wedding party for has a catastrophe from injury to wardrobe malfunctions, she’s seen, or caused it all. Now her work bestie, Nadia, wants her to be the maid of honor at her destination wedding. Despite Mila’s begging, Nadia won’t take no for an answer. To add insult to injury, Mila will have to spend more time with her boss, Grayson. The one she’d like to kiss. The one she’s been trying to keep herself from throwing herself at for over two years. What’s a girl to do?

I loved this workplace romance! I loved Mila and Nadia’s friendship at work, their nicknames and hand signals. And I adored Grayson! He was perfect for Mila, and the chemistry was slow burn then off the charts. I just loved these two! I felt for Mila and her curse, and loved how we got to see each train wreck of a wedding in action. This story was full of humor, friendship, awkward moments, and an adorable romance!

Some people have bad luck, but some people carry bad luck. Mila Banks is one of those people who carries it with her.

Mila and Nadia are work best friends, so when Nadia asks Mila to be her maid of honor, Mila is deadset on it not happening, but Nadia will not take no for an answer. Reluctantly, Mila decides to be at the wedding and go to Hawaii, but under the guise of it being for work.

Greyson, the workaholic CEO, is best friends with Shane, Nadia's fiance, and is also reluctant to go to the wedding due to a time crunch on his new app! Once Shane has Greyson persuaded that Hawaii would be a great place to test his app in real time, he is all in!

Mila and Greyson decide to travel together so they can test out the app and enjoy the beauty of Hawaii while doing it. When a hiking trip doesn't go as planned, the two blurt out their feelings for each other and wait to be saved from the rainforest.

Can the company survive the stress of features not working correctly?
Can the app be ready by the Summit in September?
Do Greyson & Mila decide their relationship is worth the time?

This book is a fun, quick read and is what I call a palette cleanser. That means it is perfect to read in between more dense books.

Have you read this? If so, send me a message so we can talk about it!

Amazing book! Read it twice because I loved it so much

I received an ARC of The Wedding Jinx by Becky Monson and I am voluntarily leaving my review for free. I very much love Becky Monson as an author of sweet romantic comedies. This was definitely one of her best books to date. I truly loved the 2 main characters, Mila and Grayson, as well as Mila's best friend Nadia. I felt like each character was someone that I would relate to in real life. The characters, the plot, the humor, the jinx issues, and the pacing were all fantastic. I couldn't put the book down. This would be totally fun to read with your book club. So many inside jokes with this book (thumbs up, BILK, Sir Jason, etc.)This book will make you laugh out loud. Definitely a light hearted read. This is a feel good book. I highly recommend it. 5 stars.

“I don’t know what’s happened to me. I’ve transformed into this lovesick idiot overnight who does things spur of the moment.”

Okay RomCom fans, just hold up! The Wedding Jinx is a must read! It is full of laugh out loud moments and had me smiling from ear to ear. I loved Mila’s personality and by the end of the book I felt like I knew her. Her friendship with Nadia was one every girl can dream of because those two were meant to be bffs forever. I loved their inside jokes, especially their thumbs up at work. So many things in this story just made me laugh and smile. Grayson was a hottie and I wondered if he and Mila would ever end up together.

There are so many magic moments. The sunburn, the hike, the hotel, the lost luggage, I could go on and on. The seven weddings though, those are the icing on the cake. You will love this story!!! If you want laugh out loud moments and a story that you easily become a part of, then The Wedding Jinx is the book for you! Don’t even hesitate, go forth and one click!

I loved this book, and laughed all the way through it. This is one of those books that you can’t put down until you see the words The End. I especially loved reading the flashbacks of the past wedding mishaps. Becky’s books always leave me excited for another one by her. Life can be heavy, but Becky’s books always leave me feeling happy. I give this book 2 big legit thumbs up!

Light and Fun

I wish I could give 4.5 stars, because 4 is too low. I did end up really liking the book. My only small criticism is that it felt like it took a long time to really get into the scenes with the two main characters, and thus, I wasn't invested in the story until close to halfway through the book. There was a lot of backstory due to the premise of all the weddings Mila had jinxed, so I think that made it harder to get the main story moving. Overall, it is a fun and easy read with a satisfying ending!

The Wedding Jinx is the fabulous story of Mila and her gorgeous boss Grayson. I laughed right from the start and just raced through this book. Mila is a wedding jinx after ruining 7 weddings in recent years. The problem is they've both been invited to be in their mutual friends' wedding in Hawaii.

Becky Monson expertly weaves a brilliant tale of current day mixed with hilarious flashbacks to each of the weddings. I seriously snorted Diet Coke through my nose reading the trellis scene.
I think she blends the two perfectly with the added bonus of this being a dual point of view, so we hear Grayson's side of the story. I really hope The Wedding Jinx becomes an audio book, too, because Grayson is written perfectly, and I can imagine how super hot he's going to sound already!

I loved Mila's friendship with Nadia, and their work colleagues are brilliant. For me, it's the attention to detail in rounding out each character that always elevates Monson's books. Yes, her leads are always amazing, but I get so much enjoyment from her secondary cast, too.

It's a really amusing, beautifully written book of mutual pining, crushing on the boss, fake boyfriends (hi Dave!), and all the wedding shenanigans that Mila causes. It's all assembled into a wonderful book that is probably her best work yet, and just surpasses An Accidental Text and Love Songs Suck as my previous favourites.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book - it's a must-read 5-star guaranteed happy ever after

The Wedding Jinx is a sweet read from Becky Monson.

Mila is excited for her best friend to get married, and she should be excited to be a bridesmaid. Unfortunately, though, Mila considers herself a jinx at weddings. Each one she has been a part of has had something major go wrong. Her friend insists she attend the destination wedding, and she can't get out of it when the wedding trip to Hawaii is combined with a work trip. It is in Hawaii that she has to spend time with her boss Grayson who is also, inconveniently, her crush.

I liked Mila a lot and her friendship with Nadia. It was entertaining and fun and added a lot of humor to the story. Mila was a relatable character and I felt for her awkward and bad wedding experiences. As she spent time with Grayson, I couldn't wait to see how they got their HEA, and it did not disappoint. The story moves at a good pace and it is easy to see that Mila and Grayson are meant to be.

I have read and enjoyed a few of Becky's other books and this is another favorite. I definitely want to pick up the rest of her backlist.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.

Receiving a complimentary copy of anything Monson writes is like getting what you actually wanted from your husband for you birthday. Not like that’s personally happened…

Mila has the most unfortunate of mishaps in every wedding she’s been in and I ain’t gonna lie- they were pretty Lucy Ricardo epic. Grayson is the boss she’s crushing on which makes the office interesting and hilarious. When everyone heads to Hawaii for her bestie’s wedding things get crazy. Mila is determined to not ruin her best friend’s wedding. And well…

This is a true romcom with a dual POV. Mila gets into PG13 situations that are very unPG13ish. All I can say is that she is one brave woman! I laughed. And laughed. And then fell in love with Grayson. It’s pretty easy to do. His vulnerability seeped through the pages and into my heart. This author is so good about getting readers invested from the very first laugh. It’s a talent. And addicting.

Will Mila bravely allow love to find it’s place in her heart? Or will the jinx hold her captive before love can even start?

I was so excited to get an ARC of The Wedding Jinx that I read it in just a couple of days! It absolutely did not disappoint. Becky has a way of pulling you into the story right at the beginning with her charm and wit. Poor Mila definitely has a jinx when it comes to weddings and getting to know the stories behind them were so much fun. Grayson, the BILK, seems like the best boss around and you can understand right away why Nadia and Mila give him the nickname. Their adventures to “test” the app bring them together at the perfect time and who doesn’t love hearing about Hawaii. It makes me want to go back again and again. I love the HEA and believe in my 5 star review.

The Wedding Jinx is a funny, sweet story about Mila who has a thing for her boss Grayson. It is told in dual POV. Mila tries to shield herself from her attraction because she has a history of being attracted to her bosses. She invents a fake boyfriend to provide distance and it helps to keep Grayson from acting on his feelings for her. The jinx part comes up when Mila and Grayson‘s best friends become engaged. Mila tries to bow out of being the maid-of-honor due to being in the wedding party of several weddings where something awful has happened (all details are shared). Simultaneously trying to avoid being in the wedding party and having to spend time with Grayson leads to some funny moments and swoon worthy kisses. Going on this trip with these characters is time well spent. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, read it now! You won’t be disappointed.

I love reading books about imperfect female leads I could be friends with. Mila is a late 20 something with a great best friend. She is a little accident prone when it comes to being in weddings. Now, if she could only get her bff to see that and stay away from the best man too. Too bad he is also her boss. If you like likeable characters, funny accidents and a cute reference to a 1989 rom-com, this book is for you!!

Mila has come to the conclusion after being in the wedding party of 7 disastrous weddings that she is a wedding jinx. Her best friend at work, Nadia, is getting married in Hawaii and insists that Mila is her Maid of Honor. Mila has a huge crush on her boss and he is the best friend of the groom, and the best man at the wedding. Mila and Grayson end up in Hawaii a few days early to test the app they are creating at work, and it was humorous reading the mishaps they encounter.
I love when we get to read from both of the MC point of view. I loved both Mila and Grayson and the chemistry between them, and I loved the friendship between Mila and Nadia.
This is a sweet and clean romance!

Very cute and clean rom com!
Mila is a wedding day disaster at every wedding she’s attended in the past. Feeling like she’s jinxed, she tries to avoid being a bridesmaid at one of her best friend’s weddings. Lucky for her, she ends up going, accompanied by her boss crush.

No steam in this book, it’s really adorable. Perfect for teens or those of us who don’t like spice in books.

Mila describes herself as "The Wedding Jinx" due to 7 mishaps of weddings she was a part of. Don't worry, you get the backstory of each one!

But her work bestie, Nadia, is getting married and won't let Mila out of being her Maid of Honor.

So, Mila accepts, but did I mention BILK (Boss I'd Like to Kiss) will be the Best Man? During this wedding, the two have forced proximity and have a few mishaps together!

Will the jinx continue for Mila during her best friend's wedding?!

🩷🌸🩷🌸🩷🌸🩷

I absolutely fell in love with Mila. She is hilarious and real. @bmonsonauthor wrote this character beautifully. Grayson (BILK) is another worthy book bf too 😉

I had a smile the entire time I was reading this book! If you need a light romcom, definitely pick this one up!

Loved the jinxes

Mila and Grayson are cute. Mila's self-deprecating humor is so much fun to read. I loved how they both open up with each other and team up to become a formidable team. And I loved how Shane and Nadia help them get together.

Amazing story.
