Maeve was searching for Tessa. She found something else instead.
When her friend disappears, leaving only a short note behind, Maeve is convinced that Tessa hasn’t gone willingly. Desperate for answers, she takes a chance on a beautiful stranger – even though it means travelling further from home than she ever thought possible.
Elswyth is a Hamadryad, the spirit of her ship’s heartree. Both revered and restricted, she exists on the outside of Tirian life, where forever seems like a fantasy. Maeve is the answer to all her prayers – but Elswyth isn’t the only one praying.
Ashton and Willow are Unclaimed, conducting an illicit relationship that, if found out, could cost more than just their positions on the ship. Maeve is strong enough to claim them both – provided she wants to.
Can Maeve open her heart to a future she never expected? Or will outside danger threaten her chance to find Tessa – and love?
INTO ORBIT is a fast to medium burn, insta-connection, super spicy MMFF why-choose sci-fi alien romance. It contains some space violence, a whole lot of swearing, and the human heroine will not be choosing at the end.
INTO ORBIT is the second book in the Advena Abductions series, which began with COUNT DOWN. Though each book features a different heroine and has a resolved why-choose romance, they have a series arc and are intended to be read in order.
INTO ORBIT was so enjoyable and it really expanded the world that Hollie Hartwright started in the first book, COUNT DOWN. I especially enjoyed learning about a new alien species and the Tirians were really cool with their connection to nature and their Forests.
The group this time was also a lot of fun -- Maeve, our bisexual queen, was fiery but afraid to be vulnerable; Elswyth, the Hamadryad, was very gentle and sweet; Ashton, a Tirian guard, was protective and stoic; and Willow, a Tirian doctor, was caring and respectful. I really loved that this was a “why choose” group that included 2 women and 2 men and I loved watching them all navigate their growing (and existing but secret) feelings for each other. The steam was definitely good but more mild compared to other “why choose” books I've read; more one-on-one pairings with some watching rather than full group scenes.
INTO ORBIT also included the characters for book 3 and I'm really curious to see how that will all develop since we've really only heard bad things about the Roth aliens so I'm curious to see how the Roth love interests will be different. The way these books are intertwining and building on each other has been really interesting and I'm glad I found this series!

I’ve only been fake alien married for a couple of hours, and I’m already fucking it up.
I enjoyed this book even more than the first in the series! I was once again blown away by the world building, the alien races and the workings of it all - it was so realistic I didn't doubt for a second those aliens exist :D The characters were complex, likeable and clicked well together. The balance between story and smut was great, and the hot scenes were fire-extinguisher-worthy! In short, let yourself be abducted and you won't be sorry ;) I can't wait to be abducted a third time!
I did not mean to allow so much time to pass before getting my review posted.
Thinking back on to when I read this book, what stands out the most for me was how different the dynamics were compared to Book 1, Count Down, and being impressed that Hollie Hartwright was able to write this next installment with the same "values" but was able to write something just as entertaining with a new set of characters.
I was so happy to dive into this book and get lost in this world again🖤
You have a strong Human Female lead that is able to balance out the personalities of her three Alien Lovers. And the plot getting thicker was a lot of fun to experience!
I have been so looking forward to reading the next book in this series since the hints at the end of the first book, and I was not disappointed. This is a sci-fi, why choose romance book and is longer with a more involved storyline than the first book, but I still devoured in one day as i could not put it down. I loved learning more about the universe Hollie has created with the introduction of a different alien species. Maeve is the human in this story and she is a strong bi female that goes in search of her missing friend Tessa and ends up finding the elf like species Elswyth, Willow and Ashton who she falls for. The spice is soooo good and has multiple combinations, including MF, FF, and MM. I also loved the introduction of the next human and her possible mates for the next book and also getting to see Tessa and her mates from the first book. This series is getting better and better, and I can't wait for the next one. Please check your TW before reading.
If you like your smut with a healthy dose of well balanced plot, this book (and this series) is right for you. There is not quite as much alien kink in this second instalment of the series, which given the high bar set by the first, is almost a let down. The personalities of the four main characters is well explored, and each is unique, with no blurring and merging of unique traits. There are a couple of relationship obstacles that are swept away a little easily, but as they are side issues, it doesn’t detract from the enjoyable read. The preview of the main characters of the next book is tantalising, and we also get a fun update on characters we met in the first book, Count Down.
Full disclosure: I was given an ARC of the book, however this review is my own honest opinion.
Into Orbit is another great story in the Advena Abductions series. Maeve is a very different main character than Tessa from the first story. She's strong and tough and not afraid of a fight. Her partner Elswyth was soft-hearted and powerful at the same time.
The author did a good job of creatively designing an alien culture that meshed well with the powers she described. We spend most of the book with only the one type of alien and it was nice to get to sink deeper into what their society was like.
The author did a great job of keeping the plot fresh by mostly following an entirely new group while still forwarding the overarching plot. It was nice to see how some of the recurring characters.
Plot: 3.75 out of 5 Characters: 3.75 out of 5 World building: 3 out of 5 Pacing: 4 out of 5
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of Into Orbit. I found the concept of “tree people” really interesting and how it connected with the people on board. The love interests were refreshing.
I read book one and although I enjoyed the characters in it a little more, I still liked all in book 2. I’d like to see Adair eat humble pie and I’m invested in Anna’s story.
I remember reading the first book in this series and it became my top book of the year and this is no different. This book not only has smut but, an amazing plot with a dash of emotion. Who doesn’t love some hot aliens?!
Now, this one is a bit different has it has FF scenes as well as MM and FM and all those mixed in so if you don’t want all the touching you could fathom this may not be for you. Anyways this book follows the bi queen herself, Maeve, and her search for her missing friend Tessa yet, finds more then she is looking for or three more then she is looking for. ;)
This book was more interesting than the first. I loved watching the realtionship grow between Maeve, Ashton, Willow, and Elswyth. We even get to glimpse Anna. I can't wait to read her story to find out how she ended up in space and also to see if my guesses are right for her 3 destined mates. It's kind of giving me beauty and the beast(s) vibes.
I love these books because they’re smart as well as spicy. They’re tightly plotted, beautifully written, and there’s a lot of tenderness between the characters. Also, make sure you read the afterword because it touches on the literary inspirations behind the kinds of characters in this particular world!
I am absolutely loving this series. The individual romances in each book are unique and I can't wait for the resolution of the overarching plot between books to move forward in the next book. Hollie is easily becoming one of my new favorite authors.
