What a great read for anyone who’s ever been in love with, how shall we say… a difficult person.
Don’t suffer gaslighting or narcissism and think its something wrong with you… read this book and know you can love a person and still not take the #&%^@!.
Crossroads is that rare book; where you know the narrator should know better, and not go there, not engage with the man again… but you can completely understand why she does it. And laugh along and maybe feel the sting when he lets her down.
The plot.
Woman in Tech badass Marina Perry (and, yes, in ‘90s Silicon Valley, the odds were good, even when the goods were odd) meets a charming Aussie when in Sydney on a business trip for a tech startup. But then, when the “what happens in Sydney stays in Sydney’ turns into a romantic whirlwind, it becomes real, leading to big life choices for our heroine.
But… not for our hero (?) who it turns out was married the whole time. (Why didn’t he tell her? She never asked.)
Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, well hell. And go back a third time? Honestly, Marina! But along the way, she finds love, fun and, wait for it, kiddos and great career. But, also, Nate.
So what is it about this guy? Well, she’ll tell you. And more than that, she shares actual love notes that make you go, yeah, yeah, I get that. And, here’s where it really gets me (and I think many of us reading…) as a gal, you feel like if you just worked harder, tried more, changed your expectations… well, it could work, it should work.
But it takes two. And at the end of the day, and as a very frank friend will tell our heroine, there’s a big difference between someone someone willing to do the work and changing (and changing)... and who’s just in for what they can get. (#PetNotPartner)
Anyhow, I’ve read it twice, I keep turning pages, even though we can see its going to cost our heroine. But she comes out a winner, and unapologetic about having loved, even through the loss.

In the beginning, their relationship seemed to be too good to be true but as they say A man can't hide his feelings for a very long time, As it did happened eventually. The love was true from Marina's side and her efforts to save the relationship literally makes you proud of this courageous lady but Nate showed his true colours by the end.
The book talks about all the major issues and consequences that one suffers from when the effort is only one sided in a relationship. Perry's continuous take to save the partnership and to come on a mutual consent was truly commendable. The way she handled all the situations that came her way; wheather it was providing Nate financial support , Nurturing her children As a single mother, Creating a name of her own in the tech industry in a country like United States, Battling with cancer, Or dealing with all the relationship tantrums. Perry truly outshined in all the roles.
Overall, Crossroads is a book that delivers impactful themes of Unhealthy relationships, Love, Emotions, Friendship, Courage and Hope. Marina's realistic narration and her brave approach towards life makes this book a worth reading encouraging readers to make every possible move to save their relationships but when it's still not working then simply leave it and learn something from it as the author did. Apart from sharing her personal life, The author courageously inspires you to move out of a toxic relationship or any bad situation and look for better things in life that deserve your attention. Life is stranger than fiction. This is the apt caption for the story in this book. This book is the romantic memoir of an American woman and her Australian lover.
In this book, the author shares her journey with a man whom she met randomly and who, with time, becomes her everything. This tale is of a time that was not overtaken by social media or smartphones. An American techie travels to Melbourne, Australia, for professional reasons. Over there, she meets a friendly and extrovert journalist. His name, Nate, becomes the first introduction because it is also her husband's name. This random encounter changes Marina's life (previous life) and paves the way for a fantasizing long-distance crush. With time, this crush changes to attraction, which develops into romance that turns into deep love.
They both realize their passionate love, but how can love be easier? Over here, they have many matters that affect their feelings, like distance, family commitments, professional responsibilities, and many more. With time, Marina and Nate struggle, juggle, and sometimes avoid matters to keep their love alive. After many years, one fine day, they got married.
And they lived happily ever after.
We can find this quote only in fantasy; reality is totally different. Grab the book to enjoy the romance, love, and life of this American techie and Australian journalist.
I read romance fiction and love stories, but I also believe it’s beautiful only in stories or poems. This book proved me right. The author did notice many red flags in this relationship, but I don't know why she kept on denying them. Their long-distance relationship was fun to read, but I enjoyed the courtroom moments.
In spite of calling her stupid, I am jealous of the author. I’m jealous of the way she crazily loves Nate; this is one thing I may not be able to do. All in all, it’s a beautiful start to my April.

This memoir was difficult to put down, and it is difficult to relate to in one way because the amounts of money Marina had access to fund this relationship are not available to the average person. The extensive traveling back and forth to Australia are unfathomal to me, as is all the free time to do so-and all for a man? I feel love is not what this relationship was about, and this bookj reads more like a fairytale than a memoir.. Found it to be very entertaining.

Too much bad language, and no common sense used.
This was a fast and easy read, but seams as if main character, even though a highly educated and intelligent woman, could never learn a lesson from her love interest from the way he kept treating her.
She had no common sense in that regard.
