Lady Penelope is the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Westchester, the next of her siblings to come out. But as a secret apothecary to the city, she has promised that she will never wed.
Lord Alexander Freyne swore he would never wed, not after witnessing the slow breakdown of his parents' marriage.
But Pen is keeping a secret and when her suppressant fails in the middle of a ballroom, she flees. Alex goes after her, helping her through her manifestation. When they are caught in each other’s arms, Alex is forced to offer for Pen or see her reputation destroyed.
But there is someone that would like nothing more than to destroy the fragile love building between Pen and Alex. Someone from her past and his, obsession and destruction.
Will they be able to discover and defeat them in time to save their love?
Lord Alexander Freyne (“Alex”), an Alpha disillusioned by the outcome of his parents’ marriage, vowed to never marry. However, he has been ordered by the King to find a bride this Season. Lady Penelope (“Pen”), daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Westchester and an Omega trying to keep it secret, is also being pressured to marry, but as a talented apothecary in the city, she has promised not to wed so that she could continue to carry out her important job of making sure that the temples had enough healing herbs to supply their tinctures. But when Pen faces an embarrassing situation in the ballroom as her suppressant fails, she has no choice but to dash out of there and find some privacy to maintain her secret. Alex follows to help her, but the innocent yet compromising situation means they must now marry or be disgraced with their reputations ruined. Will they agree to marry, especially since Alex was willing to allow her to continue with her apothecary work? Or will others, determined to destroy their happiness, lie about them to the King? And will he believe them or catch them in their lies?
This was an enjoyable story and different from most of this type that I read. I will gladly continue with this series!
What an exceptional book to read. Has a great storyline/plot with well developed intriguing characters, makes the flow of the book. Full of romance, love, drama, suspense and twists. Alex has been ordered to ind a bride by the end of the season by the King. While Penelope (Pen) has been given a list of 10 men that she may choose from, none to her liking. Both knew each other from the seasons past and that the relationship haven't gone well. Pen and Alex are both trying not to marry yet get caught in a compromising situation and forced to marry. Alex, an alpha , learns of Pen being an Omega and that for years had been hiding it , not wanting anyone to know. Lots of action after the wedding, both wanting the same thing and not being able to get there. This author has again written an absolutely fabulous book that will hold your attention till the end and leaves you wanting more. Would recommend this book.

This is the second story in the "Omega Brides" series and reads as a stand alone. This is the first book was great and I enjoyed this one just as much. The story is about Alex, who was in the first story, and Penelope. Alex, an alpha, has been told by the king he must marry but does not like his choices. Penelope is given a choice of suitors but does not like any of them. She is an omega but has been hiding it for years. Neither wants to ever marry. They have met in the past but it has never gone well. However, an event triggers them being forced to wed. Such a good read with some drama, angst, passion, love and more.
Like the previous book in the series, I found this book's plot to be interesting, the relationship between the hero and heroine to be sweet, but something holds the story back from being great. There are still the issues of too many syntax errors, too much repetition, slow pacing, and not enough info on the whole alpha/omega thing. At times, the omegaverse elements seem like such an afterthought, just there to pad out the book with a few extra scenes, rather than being a fact of life that underlies the whole logic of the depicted society. Despite all that though, Natalie Highland is able to write some very touching moments that keep me wanting to read more.
The second book in the Omega Brides series. Pen and Alex had been childhood friends until fate intervened and they became enemies. Until they find their way back together!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this engaging, entertaining and unputdownable story! I thought Pen was a really interesting character and I liked her because she wanted to heal others; and how Alex falls hard for her! The story is well written fast paced with lots of angst, friendship, drama, steam and passion. There's an HEA.
2.5 stars. Would’ve been an average omegaverse, if light on the dynamic stuff, or an above average regency novel if it weren’t for the 3 dozen typos too many. Cozy vibes are fine, the angst wasn’t there, and the villains get their comeuppance way too easily, with a deus ex machina “truth teller” mage called in by the monarch in the last few pages. Felt like the book was over halfway through but they just had to tie up loose ends.
This is a well-rounded Alpha Omega book. With plenty of romance, love, suspense, drama. Two people that are completely against settling down and getting married having outside sources pushing them to make a decision. They end up together and the steam is turned up.

I liked the use of the alpha-omega trope in an historical setting. But I found that the story was developping too slowly for my taste. I like better stories that are a little faster-paced. The story was still interesting, and I enjoyed reading it.

This book started out ok but the end was such a let down. I will also say the further into the book that I went the worse the grammar and story development became. The story has potential but needs to be fully rewritten.
