In trouble. Need to talk to you. Urgent. Cambry Sinclair is rattled by the cryptic message from her scientist father. It s been years since she last saw the man, and despite his recent attempts at contact, she has no interest in reconnecting. But something about this late-night message urges her to act... Arriving at her father s office, she s horrified to discover him lying in a pool of blood, barely clinging to life. Someone clearly wants him dead but why? With a shaky alibi and evidence mounting against her, Cambry becomes the prime suspect. Now, only one man can help prove her FBI agent Ethan Reece, the man sent to track down her father s dangerous research and the man who broke her heart years before. Ethan hesitantly returns to the town saturated in painful history, and his assignment to investigate his former flame doesn t make his life any more comfortable. As the uneasy duo begin to work together, uncovering the potentially catastrophic application of her father s research, it becomes clear that the real murderer has far more diabolical plans than they could have dreamed. Shocking secrets and devastating betrayals threaten Cambry and Ethan s tentative new relationship, and the clock is ticking as they fight to expose the real killer before Cambry becomes the next victim in someone s terrifying plot.
My dear friend Andrea loaned me this book. And I really liked this book. It was more of a thrilled with a little love story mixed in to keep me interested. I loved Cambry and how she had to look at forgiving those in her life, but she wasn't one of those codependent, whiny girls in the more popular books. She was independent and vulnerable when needed. Loved her, loved him....loved the ending!! Cannot wait for Erin Klinger to write more books!!
3.5 Stars. Loved it for the first half then things went kind of crazy on the plot, on the character thoughts & descriptions, chases through the woods and yet another grab. I appreciate not a lot of gruesome details when the bad guys were supposed to be pressuring the characters for info but seems that there could of been something to make it believable. Some predictable scenarios for this type of book, but a good, clean read that you'd probably like too.
While I did like this story, I had to push my self through to the end. I think it was a bit predictable, and at times a little far-fetched. I thought the plot was really good, and it was a good clean thriller.
Been a while since I've given a book a five, but this one surpassed all my expectations. I loved it from start to finish and all the parts in between. I loved the characters, Ethan and cambry. They were easy to identify with and you hoped for a happy outcome for them. The mystery of finding cambry's father's research after he was attracted was well written and the original attacker wasn't an obvious pick.
Ethan is going home for a visit after leaving 5 years ago after the tragic news of his brother's death in Afghanistan due to a road side bombing. He immediately left to enlist in the marines leaving his family without answers and a note for cambry his almost fiancé with broken heart and dreams. He realized too late his mistaken actions due to grief, but it was too late. He served his time, got recruited for special forces and then joined the FBI in Baltimore. Before he is on his way home, he gets the assignment to investigate cambry. He has reservations to be in a position of secrets, wanting to try to mend bridges with the visit, but his duty comes first.
Cambry and Ethan get close and then have the investigation put a divide between them. They get shot at, beat up and are kidnapped. Though it all they rely on each other to get though.
It was kind of boring, I couldn't really get into it, it was predictable. The weir thing is that the pic of the guy on the front kind of looks like someone I know. Maybe that was why I couldn't get into the story. I just couldn't get separate the pic. of the hero on the cover with the guy that I know. It was weird for me.
I found myself skipping a head a lot. Still got the just of the story, and plot. And yay, she forgives him, at the end of the book. I don't think he was doing his job very well, but I guess he could have said that he was distracted by the heroine/love interest to do his job well. Course everything works out in the end, even her father doesn't die, he just wakes up.

This was a fast-paced, mystery/love story about a girl whose estranged dad was shot. He gave her a flash drive and told her not to give it to anyone, plus said "Picture. Passwords" before he went into a coma. The police think she shot him in order to inherit his missions. An old boyfriend who had desserted her five years ago and who is now an FBI agent, comes to investigate her and protect her. A lot of exciting things happen before they finally find her dad's secret files, and, even then, she is about killed. I really enjoyed this book.
The story was entertaining. I enjoyed the action and mystery, though it wasn't particularly difficult to figure out who the inside-man was (I probably have read too many books!). The characters and story were interesting and well-developed. The only thing I'd knock points off for was that some of the "romantic" lines seemed a little cheesy to me. But it was a entertaining read and I truly enjoyed it. I actually think it would be fascinating to read a few more stories about Ethan's FBI work...
so far this book reminds me of traci hunter abramson... ethan was a little much for me... like, let the girl have some space... other than that - it kept me going and guessing and wondering what could possibly happen with so much book left.
This was a great book! A man is shot and left for dead at work. His daughter finds him. She is accused of trying to kill him to take over his company. Her former boyfriend is in the FBI and is assigned to her case. Both of them are kidnapped and beaten. I really liked this book.
I actually enjoyed this one more than I thought I would. Fast paced Mystery/Suspense that kept me turning pages. Although it's considered LDS fiction, it's really light on the religious aspect. No preaching or contrived LDS storylines which was nice. I liked it.
A good way to while away driving hours. Not overly complex, but not annoyingly cheesy. The story is plausible if a bit far-fetched (but what thriller/spy novel isn't a bit far-fetched). The romance is sweet and fun.
Solid 3 1/2 stars. I enjoyed the story a lot, despite guessing who the bad guy was from early on. Reads a lot like a Traci Hunter Abramson book. Well done plot, romance & details.
I would actually give 3 1/2 stars. I waited too long to write what I think of the book so I don't remember details, but I remember I really liked it. :)
Listened to this book--I liked the characters. Typical LDS murder mystery/love story. FBI agent reunites with former best friend/girl friend and is the hero/protector.
