She’s going to get the best of me. The strongest of me. Shit, she has all of me.

Tyson and Sadie have been best friends throughout throughout school and he has pretty much always been in love with her. Still, she is about to marry another man when she recruits Ty as her getaway driver from her own wedding. After an amazing weekend, Ty is sure this is his chance to be with the love of his life until Sadie finds out the man she abandoned at the altar has been in a bad accident and returns to him.

Eight year later, they run into each other in Ty’s hometown when she asks him to pretend to be her boyfriend to deter her husband. Ty is soon sucked back into Sadie’s orbit and what began as fake dating pretty much immediately turns into something real.

I did it. He’s gone. It’s over. So now, it can begin.

To me, this book was pretty superficial which is a huge reason as to why it was an okay read for me. I have come to realize that I need to know the main characters and their thoughts to really get into the book.

Also, this book was a bit too insta love for my tastes. I am all for a whirlwind romance but, in that case, the story needs to be built well. However, I feel like in this book, everything was too superficial for me to really get into it.

You are my top shelf. You’re the thing I’m the proudest of.

As for the characters, Ty was super super sweet to Sadie and thought her best, and he had for as long as they had known each other, but Sadie was just too stupid or afraid to realize what she had in front of her. Until she needed him to save her from a crappy situation, she had never even thought to reach out to him after abandoning Ty after an amazing weekend for a guy she just left at the altar? C’moon girl, you can do better than that.

All in all, this was an okay and a fast read but just not deep enough for me to love it.

I received an ARC of Top Shelf in exchange for an honest review

This was a quick read for me and written great, as usual. This book is about Tyson & Sadie who have been best friends since they were teens. Tyson has been in love with her basically since day one but she never chooses the good guy. Eight years later she comes back home seeking his help, again, while trying to escape her current husband. So, Tyson is just the best guy you can imagine. My issue with this story is that I can’t stand Sadie’s character. No one would be pining after someone who never chooses them well into their 30’s and 8 years later. There is also a disconnect because even 54% through and we don’t really know her character or her feelings towards Tyson. We don’t see that until 85% through where we get a glimpse into her head and thinking. He’s always been there for her and saving her and she just doesn’t deserve him. She’s kind of clueless for someone who is 33. I mean she knew how he felt. It’s a tough review because Taylor is such a great writer and it’s a great book, it’s just I didn’t like the FMC and how she basically took advantage of him her whole life. However, I love the Calway family and look forward to more in this series. So far, Levi and Lo are definitely my favorites.

If it has not been evident from my past reviews I love small town second chances, and this book fits that bill. Sadie and Ty have been best friends, he has been a little more, but never shared his feelings.

Sadie has always chosen another but runs to Ty when she needs help. He is her support team.
Top Shelf is a quick read and sound addition to this series.

Disclaimer: I received this book at no cost from the publisher/author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I am leaving a voluntary review and all opinions are my own.

I was excited to jump into this one. I have read a few books from this author before back when she was publishing as Taylor Danae Colbert and one of them in particular really struck a chord with me and I haven't forgotten the book to this day.

Initially, I connected with Colbert's writing style straight off the bat. It was very personable and down-to-earth which resonated with me. Thinking of the book as a whole, I have to admit that the book was a little too fast-paced for my liking. I felt that the pacing affected the rest of the book in a lot of ways. It felt like a condensed version of a whole story, which isn't surprising since this book is pretty much the size of, if not a tad larger, than a novella. I didn't know the page count of this book before I opted to read it as an ARC but I don't normally read many novellas because I know that the world-building tends to lack depth to me. Which was the case in this book for me. That is just a personal preference though so just take my review with a grain of salt. Even though that issue affected my reading experience, I still enjoyed this story and it is definitely worth a read.

Tyson was an absolute teddy bear in this. He was so devoted to Sadie throughout the story even when he should have been hurt or angry with her. He was so loyal and it melted my heart. He always just wanted her to be happy regardless if she chose to be with him or not and he always supported her decisions. While Tyson was such a likable character, I did not feel the same way about Sadie. She was a rather annoying character that I didn't connect with at all. Her decision-making process in the book rubbed me the wrong way at times. I wanted to like her more but I really couldn't. I enjoyed the side characters in this book a lot. I loved the family aspect throughout the entire book. Tyson's family was the best and it will be great to read their books in this series once they are available.

As far as the romance goes, if you like a second-chance love story or a friends-to-lovers romance then I think you will enjoy this one. Since I wasn't feeling Sadie's character, the romance felt ungenuine to me. At least from Sadie's side of things. I felt the opposite where Tyson was concerned. He was the definition of a book boyfriend but romances need two and if you don't have all the right ingredients then you can't bake a cake, if you know what I mean.

This is the second book in the Calway Family series but it can be read as a standalone. I haven't read the first book in this series yet and I didn't feel lost where the characters are concerned.

I generally enjoyed this book even if there were a few things that didn't mesh with me.

Overall, this is a fast-paced love story with a cinnamon roll hero who deserves all the love. This book is full of some of my favorite tropes: fake relationship, small town, found family, and friends-to-lovers. This is a second-chance love story with strong family themes. I think that if you enjoy any of the above tropes and a fast-paced story then you'll enjoy this book!

The characters had the potential to be so fun together with being best friends from being kids, with openings for a lot of flirty banter, but I found them both a little boring.

I enjoyed reading about this cute couple but did wish there was a little more to it. It felt rushed and I would’ve liked a little more character and plot development. But, for a book with less than 200 pages, I think it is a quick, fun read!

Tyson and Sadie have been best friends since they were kids. They had never crossed that friendship line even though Tyson has loved her since they were teens. On the day she is supposed to get married, she can’t go through with it and Sadie asks Tyson to be her get away car. Lines get blurred that night and feels are shared and Tyson thought that he finally got his girl. He was so wrong. Eight years later, Sadie comes back to town and asks him for help because she is trying to get away from her ex-husband and needs Tyson to pretend to be her boyfriend. Being the amazing guy he is, he agrees. Tyson is keeping his walls up because he was so hurt when she left eight years ago. He can’t help but still love her all these years later. He’s trying to keep her at arm’s length, but he can’t. When Sadie’s ex threatens her, Tyson knows he’ll do anything to protect her and will risk anything to make her his girl. Sadie realizes how much Tyson means to her and can’t help but feel like she’s dragging him into her mess. She also realizes that the love she had for Tyson never went away and now will do anything to prove she is there for him and here to stay.

I enjoyed this book! Tyson was such an amazing man. He was so thoughtful and just a nice guy all around. He kept a level head, and it took a lot to get him angry. He’s always loved Sadie and always had hopes of her returning to town. He never expected her to return under the circumstances she did, but he was glad she was back. Sadie was in an emotionally abusive relationship and felt stuck until she gained the courage to leave with almost nothing. She found comfort in Tyson, as she always used to when they were younger, and hoped that Tyson would see that she was sorry for the way she left. The two of them have undeniable chemistry. Even though the lost touch for many years, all of those feelings and comforts with each other never left. Underneath Tyson’s good boy exterior was a man with a filthy mouth, and I loved it! Great read!

"I love finding new authors! This will not be the last book I read from T.D. Colbert.

Ty is the perfect book boyfriend, loyal to a fault, he’s loved Sadie since they were kids. He’s seen her fall in love with someone else, but he’s let her go, so she can be happy.
She comes back to town 8 years later after their one magical night together and needs a favor, she needs him to be her fake boyfriend to get away from her terrible ex. Their story is heartbreaking, full of some combustible chemistry, where they finally get their 2nd chance at love.
I can’t wait to see what’s next in this family series, I have a feeling when she gets around to Demi, her story is going to be amazing!

"I’m fairly certain that this is my first book by this author and I did enjoy it. But I have to admit it took me a long time to warm up to Sadie. She wasn’t an easy character to like as she came across as a very selfish person. I get that her life has been all ups and downs and Tyson has been there for her for the most part. But she has all these feelings for him and I couldn’t understand why she just didn’t choose him.
The reason why I have given this book four stars is all due to Tyson. He is truly one amazing character - hands down one of the best I have read in quite some time. The author has basically written the perfect book boyfriend and I take my hat off to her amazing writing skills. She had me in awe of one character and basically disappointed in another. I put that all down to one truly talented author." ~Sharon

"Top Shelf" by T D Colbert takes readers on an emotional journey filled with tears, passion, regret, romance, and, most importantly, love. The story revolves around the complex relationship between best friends Sadie and Ty, who once had their happily-ever-after within reach eight years ago, only to have it slip away. Now, as fate would have it, Sadie is back, and Ty finds himself once again stepping in to be her knight in shining armour.

Ty emerges as the quintessential book boyfriend – a character that readers can't help but fall in love with. His unwavering support and willingness to come to Sadie's rescue add depth to the narrative, making him a standout character. The author paints Ty as the embodiment of perfection, and his presence in the story provides a comforting anchor amid the storm of emotions.

On the other hand, Sadie's character adds a layer of complexity to the tale. Described as a character resembling a seesaw, swinging between moments of likability and moments of struggle, Sadie's journey becomes a central focus. While her character may present challenges for some readers, it is through these struggles that the true strength of Ty shines.

"Top Shelf" succeeded in delivering a poignant and realistic portrayal of love's complexities. The author skillfully navigates the intricacies of relationships, offering readers a tale that resonates with authenticity. As Sadie and Ty's story unfolds, it becomes a testament to the endurance of love despite the obstacles that life throws in its path.

Tyson
A one night stand—actually, it was a one-weekend stand—with my best friend changed my life.
And ended our friendship.
Not a day goes by that I don’t think about Sadie Blackwell. But years later, I’m finally piecing my life back together. I love my job, and I’ve been named the commissioner of the new youth hockey league in town.
Then she walks back into my life and begs me to pretend to be her boyfriend…and her husband walks in behind her.

Sadie
My life is so far from what I imagined it would be. Eight years ago, I had the chance to be happy, to have everything I ever wanted, but I let it slip through my fingers. Now, the only place for me to go is back to Crooked Creek.
To him.
After what I put Tyson Calway through, he’s the last person I should ask for a favor. Especially one like this. But it has to be believable. It has to be him.
When we’re together, I’m transported back to the weekend that changed everything between us. Before I left him, and broke both of our hearts. Before I went back to my fiancé.
And now, I'm afraid the only person falling for our charade is me.

This is book two of the series and the second book I’ve read by this author. I found the story engaging and I was invested in the MCs. Emotional connection to characters is very important to me and keeps me engaged in a book.

Sadie and Tyson were best friends and Tyson has loved her for years.

He has always been there for her, then she breaks his heart, like completely shatters it. Several years later she needs a favor and Tyson being the awesome, amazing and sweet man he is, agrees to be her fake boyfriend.

My heart broke for Tyson, he only cared for one girl and I feel like she used him time and time again, because she knew he would always be there for her.

Ugh I really don’t know how I feel about Sadie. To me she just doesn’t have a redeeming quality. She didn’t even try to do make up for running and destroying Tyson all those years ago.

His best friend is about to walk down the aisle and marry the wrong man, and he is among the guests as a best friend should be. And lucky he is when the call comes to take the bride away and make a run for it. They finally cross the line, but as soon as Tyson gets the girl of his dreams, she slips right through his fingers when some unfortunate news comes in. Years later, she’s gone off and married someone else, but when their worlds collide again Tyson is ready to pick up right where they left off — even if it is supposed to be pretend.

Tyson is the ultimate loyal book boyfriend and has been a steady constant for Sadie for most of their lives even when life gets in the way. Tyson’s sisters were protective of him and looked out for his heart while still warming up to Sadie in a reasonable amount of time. I really appreciated this representation of relationships not being 50/50 at all stages and that Tyson and Sadie got their happily ever after even though it took Sadie longer to get there. This was a great, quick novella and I definitely recommend this series!

4 Stars for this best friends romance

Another great story in the Calway's series. I loved Ty ... talk about a nice guy who risks it all for nothing. I didn't really care for Sadie. I thought she just took Ty for granted and only gave him her attention when she wanted out of a situation. Ty deserved a lot better. But eventually I warmed to Sadie ... but I still thought she was crazy for not choosing Ty. A great addition to the series and I can't wait for the next Calway story.

Tyson has been in love with Sadie since they were young, but he has been firmly placed in the best friend category. When Sadie backs out of marrying her boyfriend on their wedding day, Ty takes her away and they have an intimate weekend together, but that's all it ends up being .... a weekend. Eight years later Sadie is back and asking Ty to save her and be her fake boyfriend. Will Ty risk his heart for Sadie again? Or will he get her out of his system once and for all?

Tyson and Sadie have been best friends since they were kids, and when she is about to marry another man she uses Tyson to be her escape driver. When they finally have a chance to be together and Ty is sure this is going to be his chance, the rug is pulled out from under him after her ex is hurt. Now years later she shows up and needs a pretend boyfriend, and she immediately asks Ty, well more like demands. She knows that it can only be him, because of their past.

I thought Top Shelf was an ok read, I liked the story but it felt like the book was missing something. It felt like there wasn't a lot of emotion between them and no matter what Ty always dropped everything to be there for Sadie, even after eight years of not speaking to one another. When she did finally stand up for herself he reacted badly. I liked Ty's sisters and how they stood up for him, and then helped when they found out the situation. I would give it a 3.75 star rating.

Calway Family Series #2

Sadie Blackwell and Tyson Calway have been friends since they were fifteen and she walked into AP Biology class. He's loved her ever since.

Both went to different colleges where she met Dallas. Sadie is about to marry Dallas but at the last minute changes her mind and asks Ty to get her out of there which he does. Tyson has always been there for her and would do anything for her.

"Tyson, you have always been my home. You've always been my safe place."

Eight years have passed and Sadie is back in town. She is in the process of getting a divorce and looking for a job. Once again Tyson has jumped in to help out Sadie and fakes being her boyfriend.

Some things happen between Sadie's soon to be ex-husband and Tyson that could damage his career and more.
Will Sadie take a stand or will she walk away again?

4 stars
The story was ok. Sadie was annoying at times and hard to believe Tyson sticking it out.

Some angst with best friends to lovers to nothing.

Sadie and Tyson are best friends yet the story starts on her wedding day to someone else. Then Ty whisks her away when needed and they finally explore their true feelings. But the past calls her back and she goes.

Next they meet eight years later and now she is in the process of getting divorced from someone else! What??!!?? It takes a bit to like Sadie's character because she clearly loves Tyson and knows the depth of his feelings for her. I felt some of the past was a little too vague for what Tyson went through, but overall this is an intriguing story.

We do finally get to understand Sadie a little better and luckily the angst doesn't last long once they are reunited. I wasn't ready for a tear jerker story and this one wasn't.

Family love is again strong in this one and it was an interesting read.

I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.

Best friends to lovers AND second chance!! Oh man some of the best tropes in this one.

Tyson and Sadie have been best friends since high school. So they have always had a strong relationship between them. So strong that everyone always thought they were dating. But little did each of them know that they both wanted to take the next step. That all came out after college when Sadie was set to marry another man.

Tyson, this man. He is a true statement that soulmates are true. The way he has hung on to the wish that Sadie would be his just broke my heart but also warmed it. When she comes back into his life again, he picks up their friendship like she hasn’t been gone for the last 8 years.

With Sadie, I was on the fence about her most of the book and that hardly happens with a FMC for me. But she did redeemed herself at the end when we finally got to see her strength, and boy did we get to see it in the best way!

A second chance romance with MMC everyone will like. Tyson was a good guy. Eight years ago he helped Sadie in a runaway bride episode. After an amazing weekend, Ty is crushed when Sadie makes the decision to go back after some things happen.
Now she is back and again needs help. Ty comes to the rescue again. It’s fake dating to the rescue . He tries to keep her at arms length He still has feelings for Sadie and will do anything to protect her.
Sadie had a bad marriage. He abused her emotionally. She finally built the courage to make move and leave. Tyson was her shelter when she needed him the most. Sadie’s character is bit complex. Her experience makes her a more sympathetic character. You get a better understanding of her behavior.

This is a quick read. It’s fast paced with a hero who will melt you heart.

Ok first of all, Tyson is amazing and so damn sweet and my heart broke for him.

He has loved Sadie for years… They are best friends and have so many amazing moments and memories together…

He has watched her go from guy to guy but she always returns to her safe place, him…

He would do anything for his girl, even after she crushed his heart…..

So 8 years later when she asks him to act like her fake boyfriend to piss off her soon to be ex husband things get interesting and messy…

I love how hard he loves her.
I love how his sisters were worried in the beginning.
I love how they call each other by their last names.
I love how Sadie stood up to her ex husband after everything he put her through.

I am loving this series so far!! The Calway family are full of very lovable characters that make you want to root for them all the way. While I did really enjoy this story, it didn’t quite live up to the first book. The only reason I say this is there was less drama and not as must angst. Other than that, this is a nice feel good story, especially if you like a friends to lovers / second chance romance. There is no way you read this and don’t fall instantly for Tyson!! He is everything a book boyfriend is meant to be!! Sadie is a sweetheart but I didn’t like her character too much after the first part of the book. I know she has a big heart but….poor Tyson. She is redeemed by the end and learns to stand up for herself and those she loves so I forgive her!! I do highly recommend this series and can’t wait to find out who’s next!!

If you love smalltown, second chance romances look no further than Tyson and Sadie’s entertaining journey in Top Shelf. I was captivated from the moment I picked up this book and there was no putting down until the final word was read and I then then I wanted more.
Tyson and Sadie were best friends and he has loved her all his life but Sadie always ends up with someone else but whenever she needs help it’s Tyson she runs to so will fate be on their side this time ……
I loved everything about this quick read, I swooned and I smiled but more importantly I found myself cheering this couple on. This is a well written, captivating story that will appeal to all romance lovers.
Top Shelf is a gem of a read that I highly recommend and it’s the perfect addition to the Calway Family Series.

Tyson and Sadie

Tyson and Sadie have been friends since they were fifteen. But Tyson always felt a little bit more for his best friend. But college came and both had to separate but stayed friends. Sadie got together with Dallas and wanted to marry him. But the wedding day ended differently than supposed. And Tyson got a chance to show Sadie how he feels. Only to end up heartbroken when fate striked and Sadie had to decide.
Eight years later she is back. Tyson never really got over her. And when she needs help he is there. Still.
Not everyone is pleased by that and one person may have had to say a word in Sadie and her future.
Can Tyson help her this time and get his final and real chance. Or is Sadie not the one for him?
And when an incident could affect Tyson’s life and future Sadie has to step up or walk away forever.

This is the second book in the Calway family series, an interconnected standalone series. We’ve got some small town, big family with some hockey thrown in. You do not need to read the series to enjoy each book. This is a second chance fake relationship romance between Tyson and his childhood bestie; Sadie. They had a passionate night together 8 years ago when Sadie was a runaway bride but now she’s back in town and needs help getting away from her ex. Tyson has always loved Sadie and is willing to jump in and help. This was a good, enjoyable read. I thought it moved a little too quickly though. The spice was pretty hot and I liked the characters. Not sure I’m jumping to read this series but it was an enjoyable read

I love finding new authors!

This is the 2nd book in this series, and this is Tyson and Sadie’s story.
Ty and Sadie has been best friends since they were kids, and he has loved her just as long. When Sadie chooses someone else, Ty stands back and lets her go. Now 8-years later Sadie is back after escaping her ex and needs Ty to become her fake boyfriend.
This is a good story which has emotions, heartbreak, chemistry, family, friendships, 2nd chances, regrets, challenges, making choices, emotions, and love, which leads to an enjoyable small town romance.
The only downside, in my opinion, is that this story is disjointed in places!
I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I recommend.

After the Storm….. I’ve been waiting for you. I felt like Cage might be the best and that’s why we had to save him for last… I wasn’t wrong.

This whole Cottonwood Cove journey by Laura Pavlov has been epic. Cage and Presley are no exception…. Or they might be the icing on the cake.

Cage and Presley were in love as teenagers, but separated later. Now, Cage is a single dad, and Presley is back in town to take care of her sick father. Are things going to pick up right where they left off?

Read it and find out. What I can tell you is that this book is emotional, chocked full of chemistry, and has put Cage in the running for one of my favorite heroes.

This friends to lovers romance was a new author for me. Tyson has been in love with Sadie for years, but she always picks the wrong guy. After one weekend together, she broke his heart. Eight years later, she’s back and needs a fake boyfriend.

This was a super quick easy read. Tyson is such a good hero, but I’m kind of on the fence about Sadie. I feel like she didn’t see that Tyson was so dedicated to her, and it was hard to get a read on her feelings.

I would definitely read more books by the author.

Tropes:
-former hockey player
-best friends to lovers
-fake relationship
-small town
-found family

This is book two in the Calwlay Family series and while this could be read as a standalone book, I recommend reading this series because it is that good!

Tyson and Sadie are best friends, and she breaks his heart eight years prior. Fast forward to present day and Sadie needs Tyson to pretend they are in a relationship. He is just so sweet and is still willing to do anything for her. He watched her go from guy to guy but would always be the one she turned to and her safe space.

This was so well written and I loved his family dynamic and how his siblings wanted to protect his heart. I also loved how much he loved Sadie.

Thank you T.D Colbert and Grey's Promotions for a chance to read this in exchange for an honest review.

Sadie and Ty made this a very enjoyable read for me. I loved their story and second chance romances have just been my go-to reads lately and this was very well done. Lo and Levi are still my favorite as I felt a bit disconnected from Sadie's character but this book was equally as enjoyable. I went through the entire spectrum of emotions through this really quick read which usually is a nod to good writing. I was thrilled to be able to continue this series and I enjoyed it thoroughly. 4/5 stars.

I love a good second chance small town romance. After really liking Power Play, I was looking forward to Top Shelf and it did not disappoint. You can feel the pining and angst pop off the page and the bond these two had was palpable. A fake relationship story is always going to pull me in but the history they had added a whole new layer. Loved this even more than Power Play and I didn’t think that was possible!
