Daniel Torres ii clearly in love with his character Rocco Vargas. The first book was published in 1983 and this one came out in 2005. It is not difficult to sympathize with Torres, this is one of the most elegant contemporary comics. His style is in the ligne claire tradition (going back to Hergé) and with the risk of sounding like a grumpy old man I must say that I prefer the look in the early books. The story in this installment relates to artificial intelligence which made it suiting to re-read now when Watson beat the champions of Jeopardy last week. Torres does not have any really deep thoughts to share on the subject, it more serves as a backdrop for an action/mystery plot. It ends with a cliff hanger which makes it a pity that Dark Horse have not published the second part of the story.
