I am officially a Cat Giraldo super fan!
Kitt has chronic pain that could derail his baseball career, and Jules is his trainer. When Gideon, the new team statistician, is brought in to help with swim training to take the pressure off of Kitt's knees while he recovers, the chemistry between all three of them simmers and bubbles until it eventually explodes. If you like erotic workouts, kinky dom/sub dynamics, and complex family relationships, this is the book for you!
I loved Wild Pitch, and I think this one was just as strong. It's queer, kinky, soft, and affirming in basically every way. Kitt, Jules, and Gideon are so well matched, and it was a joy to see them figure out how to have healthy relationships in each pairing as well as a throuple. I loved each of them as individuals, and they each got to be more themselves inside of their relationship, which is ultimately the point of romance for me.
Kitt is biromantic and homosexual, and the exploration of how his relationship with Jules, a woman, works both in and out of the bedroom was something I've never seen, even in other poly romance. This book is so authentically queer, it stands out in a sea of straight white women writing male-male romance. I want so much more of this in the world, and I'm so glad to have found Cat.
Outfield Assist is at the same time both like a cozy swaddle and an electric shock. It was the scene and the aftercare all swirled together. All three characters have trauma and complex family and friend dynamics that they have to navigate throughout the story. Their characters arcs are equally compelling and balanced throughout, with lots of great opportunities for them to lean on each other.
It's basically impossible for me to adequately verbalize how much I love this series, so just read it.
