Follow Rachel as she navigates the mystery that is unraveling her new life, right before her very eyes.
Michelle Powers writes the kind of thrillers that keep you up way past bedtime—just one more chapter, right? What started with her breakout novella, The First Murder, quickly snowballed into a full-blown obsession with killers, clues, and crime scenes (the fictional kind, of course). She’s the internationally recognized indie author behind the addictive Detective Willoughby series, the fan-favorite Detective Kate Brown series, and a growing stack of standalone thrillers that will make you second-guess everyone you know. In 2024, she proudly earned the coveted KDP All-Star title—a gold star for authors who live on coffee, plot twists, and sheer grit. When she’s not working her day job in logistics or plotting her next murder (on paper, we swear), Michelle can be found writing at her desk with her Rottweiler sidekick, Ozzy, snoring nearby. Follow her on Facebook for new releases, giveaways, and all things murdery and mysterious. Just maybe leave the lights on.
Another good quick page turning thriller read by this author. Rachel's luck comes in when she inherits Iron Creek Mansion and more when her Grandad dies.... but not knowing anything about him or her biological family leaves her with many questions. All isn't quite as it seems either when she decides to move into the house. Secrets, suspense and strange happenings from start to end! *read as part of KU*
While everything comes together a little too neatly & quickly, I really enjoyed the storyline of this book. I also like that it was a quick read & written by a local writer! The references in the book being recognizable & secret passageways were a couple of things I loved. I would read other books by this QC author, for all these reasons. I will be passing this book to my friends to enjoy as well!
