When a monster comes to Zagros Fortress, Emerie is tasked with capturing him. She never would have gone through with it had she known their treatment of him would be inhumane, nor can she stand by and allow it to continue.
Unfortunately, agreeing to help him in his goal may not have been the wisest choice. Along the way, he manages to charm her, and what she once found frightening becomes utterly titillating instead.
All Ingram ever wanted was revenge.
After a traumatic event, Ingram does something foolish. He seeks out aid in his quest for retribution, only to find himself in the clutches of enemies who wear Demon-like uniforms. They’re all cruel – except for her.
She is as beautiful as she is broken, but in a way that soothes his own pain. He’s never desired a female of his own, yet her sensuality fiercely calls to him. He starts wanting more, while lacking the humanity to truly understand what he seeks.
Will Ingram be able to forgive Emerie for what she has done to him, and erase her doubts at the same time?

I can't even put into words how much I love this series! The amount of world-building and plot that goes into each of these books is insurmountable, I love the balance Opal Reyne creates in each couple's story, the angst, gore, romance, smut, and adventure all combine to make an amazing book. I have to say this is my favorite story in the series, the MC is a horny monster himbo who is absolutely obsessed with the heroine, and as we slowly learn more about the heroine we get glimpses of how smart and sweet she is that add up to make her one of my favorite characters. The smut got very creative in this book compared to the previous ones, I loved that they had to take things slow and our monster got to explore before they rushed into things. I cannot recommend this series enough, if you only take one recommendation from me, try out these books! P.S. this is a heavily interconnected series and should not be read out of order, make sure you check the TWs before reading. P.P.S. the next book is going to be MM and I couldn't be more excited!
This whole series is my happy place and I cherish every second with it. 💗💗
It's the reason why I also try to read these books as slow as possible, I only have now 1 left for the time being, I just love it so damn much!!!
Out of the 5, this is definitely in the top 3. I immensely enjoyed it, it has everything- angst, tension, rage, sadness, grief, happiness, hot smut, fukkin hilarious and all your favs from quite a long while in the book!! I absolutely love when you get glimpses of characters from previous books 🤭🤭
"If he was special, does that mean he saw beneath your clothes?"
Good boy? He didn't know why these two worlds curled his tail with a thrill while piercing his cöck with a deep throb.
I love you, Emerie. We are connected, but I would like to make us one. I would like for you to be my bride, so I can show you that love in all the forms I can.

Emerie’s solutions to solving problems are…interesting, to say the least.

REVIEW If there’s one universal rule of romance novels, it’s that the couples end up together and live in their happily ever after (or happily for now). To be able to write a romance book where the reader knows that is the case, yet still feels uncertainty about it takes a skilled hand.
I felt a heaviness while reading this. The grief the characters go through, both for their lost loved ones and for the pieces they’ve lost of themselves because of it, is so well-written and heartbreaking. These two souls found each other and helped heal each other, while also acknowledging that the pain will never be gone.
That being said, there were many hair-twirling, bright-red-blushing, can’t-stop-giggling moments. Both Emerie and Ingram were such delightful characters, even if they were wildly different. Their charms as characters made their charm as a couple that much greater.
This series has truly solidified itself with each addition. Each duskwalker is so unique, yet equally lovable. There’s always more to learn about the world, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

SPOILERS I sought spoilers and couldn’t find what happened at the end. I was getting stressed and needed to know what happened, so if you’re like me:
Kleenex is necessary on this one and Idk how this woman done made me cry over a skull headed dude but he’s so stinking cute 🥹 oh my god with his little emotional butt. I just loves him.
All yall that been reading this series I’m sure hollered in first chapter too and called Opal every name in the book cuz like full ass same dude. Like wtf she just comes out the gate with some oh lord help which escalates quickly into oh fk oh no and then an escape ending in probably the strangest pp jerk I’ve ever read but like I fully enjoyed every fooking second of it.
When they finally get to playing monster smash dudeeeee 😳😳😳 I’m js Opal finally went all in and left no holes unturned you feel me. He stashed his dinkey in her toot flute and I hollered. Y’all. The winky in the stinky. You need literal magic to resize your downstairs and this girl goes put it in my poop shoot. It’s so good. I am obsessed and impressed.
Get you a duskwalker. A lean mean fighting machine scare the pants off of anyone who dare fk with you. Omg legit.
I really do adore this series! This one hit a little different. Is it bad that I wanted someone to suggest to him to eat more people to gain more maturity and humanity? As is, he seems too young to have an adult relationship and it kinda icked me a bit.
The overarching plot throughout the series is wonderfully done.
I’m in shambles💜 This book is like CONSTANT knives to the heart with fat sprinkles of happiness in between. I would be on the verge of tears, still reeling from something a few pages back, and then all of the sudden I’m smiling, giggling, kicking my feet. I loved everything about this. And once again, I want more Witch Owl and even Weldir !!! I love her sm and she deserves the world🥺 28 notes and 87 highlights omg💀
This book had me crying so much from so early on. It dealt with grief in a way somehow surpassing previous books. Ingram was so adorable and Emerie was the right person to pair him with. If anyone figures out how to will a Duskwalker to life lemme know k thanks, bye

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Wow. Just wow. I truly have no words. Opal just brings it to the table every. damn. time. It’s an emotional rollercoaster from the very first page. You’re absolutely gripped by the fear, the heartbreak, the pure emotion of everything. Being able to see through these characters eyes was a blessing. Emerie was the definition of a strong independent woman (as all the brides are). She was gentle, caring, so understanding of everything life has thrown at her while also being such a hardcore badass. I felt her insecurities to my core. And Ingram. Sweet sweet Ingram. He might not be the brightest bulb but he sure learns how to melt your heart quickly. I would protect that baby from every bad thing in the world. What he lacks in humanity, he strives in emotion and connection. I laughed, I cried, I cheered, and I screamed throughout this book. So many plot twists and gags. Truly one of the best. Thank you Opal. ❤️
**PLEASE do not skip this book as it pertains to so much information about the world building as well as the future of the books**
I will never get enough of the Duskwalkers! I love the overarching plot the series has been following, it’s getting SO juicy.
I find myself preferring the more “advanced” Duskwalkers over the ones with less humanity, so this wasn’t my favorite in the series, but I did still love it. I wished Ingram would have eaten a few more humans, just because he seemed so innocent and childlike at the beginning. I love a good himbo but sometimes Ingram was a liiiiiiittle too naive for me.
The way everyone worked together was amazing though- the bond the Duskwalkers share warms my heart!!
We have plot content, people — looooots of content. And lots of emotions, plenty of those to be had… Perhaps a spattering of dark themes; a sprinkle, if you will. A healthy dose of representation, as we’ve come to expect from Opal, with a touch of trauma to really get the oof! happening in those feels. Oh, and lots of delicious Duskwalker peen to keep you nice and enthralled — the catch being you may have to practice your breathing, cause this one is a veeery satisfying slow burn.
Look, at this point it’s really no surprise that every time Opal Reyne drops a new Duskwalker Brides book, they keep outdoing themselves. I almost wish that her latest instalment to the well-renowned series, “A Soul To Revive”, broke the trend. Why? Because after the last book, I firmly believed that no other could outdo it with the introduction of Merikh — the thickest, sexiest Skull-Daddy to ever exist. And if I’m being completely honest, I spent a good chunk of this book under the impression that it did, in fact, break the trend.
Let me explain.
Emerie, our main protagonist, is a… complex character. Her initial introduction definitely made an impression, and gave you the sense that there was much of her personality to be discovered. And there was!
Delora, the main character from my favourite book of the series so far, is one of the deepest and most well-written characters I’ve read. In my opinion, Emerie is even more so, yet quite different. I spent more than half of the book just getting to know her, because she’s not exactly what you would call a predictable character. There was so much to learn about her, it felt like Opal had really poured her heart and soul into bringing Emerie to life for us in a way that did her justice. She is not perfect (none of the Brides really are) and she has certainly made her share of mistakes throughout her life as well as throughout the book.
I believe some readers may find this a frustrating aspect of her character — something I myself felt at some point. As I kept reading, my partner asked how I was feeling about the book (he’s kind enough to let me info-dump my obsessions onto him) but I kept stumbling with my explanations as I was trying to outline who Emerie was. After listening to me blather on for however long, he said she sounded like the best character in the book so far. I did a double take, as I hadn’t thought that to be true at the time. When I asked why, he calmly surmised that any fictional character who takes that long to explain must be pretty darn impressive. Despite wanting to throw my shoe at his head, the more I thought on it, the more I believed him to have a point (an opinion I kept to myself).
End result? I believe Emerie to be one of the best characters in the series so far. Not because she is my favourite, or because she’s the newest addition, OR because I’m blowing smoke up Opal’s a**. It’s because there is something about her personality that EVERYBODY can relate to — for me, it was the persistent insecurities about her own body, as well as her ability to make mistakes but still learn and grow from them. Her absolute bravery, acceptance and willingness to do the right thing in the face of daunting circumstances certainly elevated my view of her from ‘Protagonist’ to ‘Hero’ status.
Not to mention her more realistic views regarding the hazards of hanging around with a certain underdeveloped Duskwalker, which was a refreshing approach.
Speaking of the “horny himbo”.
*Clears throat*
Ma’am. MA’AM.
The burn was slow but damn I’ve never enjoyed being simmered and sautéed more than I did whilst reading about Ingram. I think I burned my baby daddy’s ears off when I read some of it out loud to him. I really want to emphasise that although my fave thicc-boi Merikh will always remain my ultimate fantasy-come-to-page, Ingram just… goes there. Like really. There and everywhere.
And it’s delicious.
On a side note, you know what’s really hard to achieve? A below-average-intelligence character having their general lack of know-how actually contribute to their chemistry. Hadn’t run into this peculiarity since “A Soul To Heal”, but my boy Ingram definitely solidified a new kink for me — curiosity. So props to Opal for continuously nailing that aspect of our delicious Duskwalkers.
That said, poor Ingram was sorely uninformed about certain… topics… which resulted in a few hilarious scenes with our dubious FMC that will live in my head rent-free. Unfortunately, there were some things he had to learn the hard way — such as who he was as an individual. So much of his identity had been forged with his twin, he struggled to find value or purpose in anything that couldn’t be shared with him.
His journey was one of pain, loss and above all, discovery. And I was totally there for it.
Opal Reyne has created a truly captivating world where love can be found in the most unlikely of places, and continues to delight her reader’s by staying true to her over-arching vision of the Duskwalker Brides. I first discovered her a year ago in August of 2022, from a random Insta reel promo of “A Soul To Keep” I thought looked interesting enough to dabble in.
Since reading the Author’s Note of the first of the Duskwalker Brides series to finishing this latest instalment, she has become my all-time favourite author. As the wise Alanis Morissette once said, that’s not lip service.
Emerie, a demon-slayer, is tasked with capturing a duskwalker who comes to Zagros Fortress. Little did she know how inhumane the treatment of him would be. Risking everything, she plots an escape that will change both of their lives for good. Our lovely duskwalker Ingram only wanted revenge, thus seeking out the humans for help, only to get captured and tortured, until his pretty little butterfly saves him. As they adventure on through the veil, Ingram realizes she is mending a broken part of him, as he is for her. But will he be able to forgive the pain she caused him?
Ughhh what can I say about this book other than I absolutely loved it? This is the first in the duskwalker series to almost make me cry and that doesn't come easy. This book was a slow burn with the romance, but not the spice. These two had amazing chemistry. I adored them. Ingram is now my second favorite duskwalker just under Orpheus.
"He'd been obsessed with that little female, every fibre of his being frantic to be up against her until she'd totally and irrevocably stained him."
I have a lot of feelings, and I am not sure if 2 months was enough time to process them. I love this book, I love Ingram (and Emerie), but oh my ... It gave me a lot of feelings. So much happened in this book.. I cried the most reading this book, despite sobbing harder while reading A Soul to Touch. This book was more than I could have ever hoped for. Also, the fact that made me so freaking happy.
He had a pretty skull in comparison to the other Mavka. He didn’t have snapping sharp fangs, and his horns weren’t tall and daunting; instead, they were rather stout. He was the only one he knew of with a beak. He figured these differences made him better.
At first, Opal shattered my heart and then she slowly put it back together making me fall for this silly duskwalker along the way... Again. It's literally magic. I mean have you met him? He's just so stinking cute, our pretty boy.
Emerie and Ingram are my favorite couple... But don't be fooled, I think this after every book. This series is just so damn good - I love every second I spend between these pages.
Emerie is such a badass main character and a beautiful addition to the brides. Maybe she's the baddest of them all but I won't fight Mayumi over this 😏
"A Soul to Revive" is the kind of book that doesn’t just stay on the page, it stays in your soul. It’s raw, haunting, and full of quiet beauty. The pain felt real, the healing felt earned. It reminded me that love doesn’t always come easy, but when it does, it’s worth every scar.I really loved this book for how it handled trauma and healing without rushing anything.
Emerie & Ingram are literally the cutest! Her nickname ✨little butterfly✨ he made for her is so sweet and adorable when you know the reason behind it 🥹 Ingram doesn’t have as much humanity like the other duskwalkers and the way he learns things from Emerie is just so sweet.
"If they pulled his heart from him enough times, would it stop aching the way it did?"

📕: 𝘼 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙡 𝙏𝙤 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙫𝙚 (Book 5) 𝙗𝙮 @opalreyne
The way Opal represented grief, loss, even a hint of body dysmorphia, which I suffer on a daily basis, was once again incredible in this book. I appreciate her taking extra steps to add sensitivity readers for the groups she tries to represent in each and every book. That's why she's a top-tier author in my opinion!
AND VERY IMPORTANT: check the TWs for this one. Don't go into it blind. I did, and i swear I couldn't move forward 8℅ into the book for a long while. And that's coming from someone who has little to no triggers. It will help you brace yourself or at least skip that part entirely. Opal writes snippets of "it" throughout the book but not as graphic.
Now for the things I loved: OUR FMC! Emerie is badass! Not in the way Mayumi is brave, but on how she deals with grief and processes it. She doesn't whine, doesn't anyone else, but tried her best to process that pivotal moment in her life as best she could. And her moments physical and inner insecurities made me cry so many times, because just like Delora, she voices them so genuinely you can't help but sympathize, or in my case, empathize. She's so filled with misplaced guilt that I personally couldn't help but feel spilled over to me too.
Next is Ingram, our birdbrain! 🐦 He was adorable! The fact he hadn't gained any humanity made him almost child-like to thr point he wanted to seek humans for help with his "mission", not realizing he could very well meet his death. To him, he didn't "hurt" said humans so why would they hurt him? He'll learn the hard way, sadly.
Lastly, the plot is really plotting! That ending with the Demon King... Knew it was too good to he true! Now I'm looking forward to finish the next installment with Lover Boy Aleron 💕
This book was enjoyable, though not quite as good as the others within the series so far. As usual, I recommend everyone read the books of this series in order and not skip ahead. That’s particularly important for the plot of this book.
While we did have some important events happen in this book, I just didn’t connect to the story as well as prior books. The main characters Ingram and Emerie were very lovable at first and my heart felt deeply for each of them, but after a while their romance got a little bit annoying..? Compared to the other couples I just felt like their emotional connection wasn’t strong. The plot also felt a little bit too long and unnecessarily drawn out.

We were warned, but I was not prepared. I love this story with all my heart. It was heartbreaking and beautiful. I haven't been this attached to a set of books in a very long time and each book makes my love for them burn brighter.
