Dragon Revisited

Rate this book
A dragon with a past full of secrets.

A woman who is the literal definition of a fated mate.

And an irreverent demon in Newfoundland form with a serious Candy Crush addiction.

Handsome, erudite, and sexy-as-sin Drake Vireo may look human, but he's a dragon through and through. One known for his prowess with the ladies . . . especially when enjoyed in multiples. Despite loudly proclaiming the fact that no woman could hold his attention for long, he falls hard when a curly-haired, unconventional Guardian named Aisling Grey marches into his life, and demands he be the savior she needs.

Drake's no hero, however, and although their connection is unmistakable, Aisling leaves him feeling unbalanced. If only he could dismiss her from his life . . . as well as the chaos that seems to follow along. If only she realized that being his mate was far more important than anything else. If only he truly believed he could live without Aisling . . .

Take a deep dive into the dubious past of the sexiest green dragon around, and the woman who lit him on fire.

Contains mature themes.

Katie MacAlister

For as long as she can remember, Katie MacAlister has loved reading. Growing up in a family where a weekly visit to the library was a given, Katie spent much of her time with her nose buried in a book. Despite her love for novels, she didn't think of writing them until she was contracted to write a non-fiction book about software. Since her editor refused to allow her to include either witty dialogue or love scenes in the software book, Katie swiftly resolved to switch to fiction, where she could indulge in world building, tormenting characters, and falling madly in love with all her heroes.

Two years after she started writing novels, Katie sold her first romance, Noble Intentions. More than thirty books followed during the years after Noble's publication. Her novels have been translated into numerous languages, been recorded as audiobooks, received several awards, and placed on the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. She also writes for the young adult audience as Katie Maxwell, and for the mystery world as Kate Marsh.

Katie lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and dogs, and can often be found lurking around online.

Basic Premise: short stories that expand the world created for the dragon septs.

Ever wanted to know how Jim actually became a demon? Or what was going on in Drake's head during that first few run-ins with Aisling? This book has you covered. It was funny and actually explained a lot. I think I enjoyed it more after having read the first 4 books. Some of the stories wouldn't make as much sense if you read them before the novels.

A fated mate

Sidling refused to acknowledge the bond between them but Drake will continue to protect and pursue her. Using the demon Jim as a spy is a stroke of genius. While Aisling learns about her powers as a Guardian, Drake will bide his time until he can claim her. What a love story.

For the love of Dragons

I read all four of the Guardians books before reading this one, and it really added a lot of detail to the storyline. I didn't like where the 4th book left off until I read both the novella about Jim the 6th class demon and this story. Made me love Drake even more.

Love of Reading, Restored!

I loved reading about Drake’s early history, his endearing relationships w. his GrandDam, his exasperated conversations & interactions w. Kostya, & the prickly communication w. his mother, Catalina. It gave me a better understanding of who he is as Wyvern of the Green Sept, a glimpse of his insecurities & his early heartbeats of love for Aisling. Katie MacAlister’s dedication to the world she created over 20yrs ago, is why I adore her writing style injected w. just the right amount of humor & glorious dragon steaminess.

I’ve had this book in my library for a little bit. I’ve been a bit anorexic, in so far as gifting myself w. reading time. “Dragon Revisited” was the perfect book for me to restore my love of reading.

I was excited when I read all the good reviews on this book and was so disappointed. The love interest aren’t introduced until the last third of the book. I honestly wanted to DNF this book after the first hour, but powered through just due to the hype. This isn’t an amazing love story. The dialog and chemistry is lack luster. They don’t even get together. I don’t know what this confused book even was. It was 3 confused books.

another story to add to rich world building

I love this Katie MacAlister’s work so much! I love how her fantasy (dark ones and dragons) weave together to form a well rounded world. Dragon Revisited just added another delicious layer of depth to the Ansley Grey works. Loved it and would’ve loved it at twice the length!

Delightful! Drake and Aisling were my introduction to Katie Mac, and they are still my favorite characters. This is a little gem for fans, but I think it might make a good intro for new readers as well. I don't think you need to have read the other books to enjoy this short.

I enjoyed reading about Drake and Aisling from Drake’s point of view. But it seems flat and kind of lacking somehow. Maybe it’s because it’s just a short story and anything to do with those two really ought to be a full length book in my opinion.

Between Jim's back story and revisiting Drake meeting Aisling for the first time this was a quick entertaining read. I did like Jim's story over Drake's, only because I wanted more of Drake's story.

Oh, Drake. I loved reading about Drakes past and his pov during the books. It was a great story to come back to their world.

I am going to qualify my rating with the fact that I have not read the series this novella is connected to. It made it difficult to connect with the characters and orient myself to this world

Great revisit

Just as good the second time, just too short. Love all the Drake and Aisling stories. Need stories with the kids.

Thank you! I read this series 2018. So, it was hard to remember the scenes from which his POV took place. I still enjoyed going back to read about this couple although somewhat sad.

I enjoyed this book but think it is better to read this after all four books. it is a great way to see what Drake was like before he met Aisling and what he thought when he met her. it also gives more understanding of what happened between them and the role Jim paid. A good story in the series xx

This was pure nostalgia for me. The Aisling Grey series was one of my first romances, paranormal romances, and book crushes, so I was happy to wallow back into middle school-aged Dina's brain space.

And it was fine. I don't know if I can reconcile this character with the original text, but I love a male POV, especially when he's pining and one of my first book crushes.

Thoughts about the Book

Drake is a dragon to his core & this novella reveals the calculation and chaos behind his notorious reputation. We get his POV from when he met Aisling. It's structured as two stories and is full of Easter eggs that long-time fans will enjoy.

Thoughts on this Series

The Dragon Septs series is always a fun read, if you don’t expect any of the characters to act sensibly or their ages or…you get the gist. Read it for the laughs and snark, and you’ll be alright. As indicated by the name, there are different dragon septs related to specific elements and the powers they manifest. Each spinoff focuses on one couple and their HEA but you do get to do see the HEAs of the previous couples.
