When a dead body rolls off the bed of a truck, directly in front of Kate Rosetti on a busy highway, the homicide detective starts to wonder if she’s cursed. Dead bodies have a way of following her around, and this guy definitely wasn’t killed by accident.

Before she knows it, Detective Rosetti is sucked into an investigation before it was even called in to the precinct—a record, even for her. To make matters worse, Kate’s sort-of boyfriend was driving at the time, and now he’s also invested in the murder investigation. What starts off as a simple homicide case, however, quickly morphs into something bigger, something darker, something that could get someone seriously hurt—or worse.

A murder, a little girl’s kidnapping, a convoluted business venture… If Kate and her team can’t wrap up this case quickly, she fears it’s only going to get worse before it gets better.

Kate still has it, but somehow I didn’t feel too engaged. Maybe I’ve just heard it before, the series is long and the cases blend into each other. The best part was her relationship with Jim.

“Exactly what I’m wondering.” I took out my badge, which I’d shoved into an indiscreet place for moments exactly like this—or, maybe, not exactly like this but something similar. “I’m Detective Kate Rosetti. Homicide detective. And you are?”

A welcome return to Kate & her crew.
Another good one in the series that isn't showing any signs of the mid-book series doldrums.
Very funny beginning!
This time she's on a date with Gem when his car is sidelined on the highway b/c a truck has dropped part of it's load in front of him. And as with anything in Kate's life, it isn't simple b/c this load is a rug with a dead body rolled up into it.
Obviously, their date is delayed while she & her crew begin the investigation. Good thing Gem is used to it by now.

“It’s certainly not your fault.” I softened at the expression on Gem’s face. It was like he couldn’t quite stop staring at the feet. “Is this the first time you’ve stumbled across a dead body?” Gem’s gaze finally twitched toward me. “Why do you ask that like I’m the weirdo because I’ve never ‘stumbled over a dead body before’?” I gave a gentle laugh. “It can be alarming, even if you’re not particularly queasy. I’m sorry.” “Not the first body I’ve seen,” Gem said quietly. “It’s just been a while.”

I recommend this series to those who are fans of Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books. There's the same type of humor as well as charismatic characters. Not to mention, Kate's love triangle.
While I'm a huge fan of the Plum books, many others have stopped b/c they feel it's become formulaic and boring with no development. I'm entertained so I'll continue reading them forever.
I mention this b/c as I read Kate's latest adventure, I thought of Stephanie. Recent books in that series have shown some development. LaManna hasn't waited until she's 15 or more books in to start that. I liked that Kate had chosen her romantic partner and was now trying to figure out how she really felt. She's not the only character who the writer developed. Jane has some news, her co-workers too.

As opposed to the other books though, this one spent a majority of the narrative with Gem & Kate figuring things out.
But the mystery was interesting and there were a few surprises throughout.

Thank you to the writer for an early preview of the book to read.

So good! Another great addition to the series. Kate is on a murder case and has finally decided Gem IS her boyfriend (she always waffles on any commitments or emotions). I love Gem as he is brit billionaire who loves Kate but she is so tough and afraid to let anyone in.
The case involves a body wrapped up in a rug and dropped by accident on the highway right in front of her and Gem on their way to an event.
This was probably my favorite book of the series as the mystery was engaging and her older partner Jimmy is just funny. He keeps saying he is retiring soon and it is a running joke. He and Kate work well together and the other regular characters are quirky and amusing.

Fun!

Really enjoying this series. LaManna’s writing is fast-paced, fun, never too descriptive, full of suspense, and keeps my interest every page. Makes the reader laugh - just an overall well-written and fun series.

Another fantastic book in the Kate Rosetti series that you can't put down once you begin. From the beginning to the end you are on a roller-coaster until the surprise ending. In the beginning, Kate and Gem are on their way to a company dinner when a body rolled in a rug falls off the truck directly in front of them. So the team at the precinct, Kate, her partner Jimmy, her precinct techy, Asha and the medical examiner, Melinda all work together to solve the murder. But it not so simple. The victim's girlfriend comes into the precinct saying their daughter has been kidnapped. Obviously there is more than meets the eye and it becomes very dangerous when Gem takes a bullet meant for Kate. This is a fast paced mystery with so many loose threads you keep turning pages to see what could possibly happen next! Add to that, Kate's sister is back from her honeymoon pregnant and Kate is excited to take the roll of Aunt on. And I love the new Kate where finally there is some introspection. Also, Kate is finally giving Gem the attention to his feelings for her and will their relationship be totally changed for the better finally? I love this series and can't wait for more! I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Once again Detective Kate Rosetti finds herself in a dangerous situation... only this time it's not someone with a gun to her head. Mystery aside, Kate's starting to come to terms with her feelings toward Gem (her romantic interest.) She's actually talking about her feelings and emotions... to other people. Gasp! Of course there is a murder to solve as well. This time, Gem is with Kate when the body is discovered, so he gets his first taste at finding a dead body. There is a little more humor in this book with the side character hijinks. The mystery is smartly written. It's not too confusing, but there are enough facets to keep it interesting. This book has a mystery inside of the murder mystery. You get two for one. ;) Kate's character is smart and her minds works in a way others don't. She has great gut instincts when it comes to solving crimes. As is the normal with this series, the reveal is surprising. You never really guess who it is. It's a clean read, but there are hints at bedroom scenes. Overall, a good, pretty light hearted (if you don't count the actual murder) story that is easy and quick to read. This series gets better with each book.

Shoot for the Moon, Gina LaManna’s newest book in her Detective Kate Rosetti series, will delight you with its sparkling dialogue and delightful family story as well as an intriguing murder mystery and kidnapping that Kate and her team need to solve.

Kate and Gem continue to develop their relationship. On their way to a company dinner a body rolled into a rug falls off a truck into the road in front of them.

Kate and her partner Jimmy, FBI Agent Jack, Techy Asha and Medical Examiner Melinda all work to solve the murder. They discover that the body belongs to a young man who had worked at a construction site.

After talking to his parents, they find out that his former girlfriend has run away with his one-year old daughter. And while they are working on finding his murderer, that girlfriend comes into the precinct to report that her daughter has been kidnapped.

Another fun development in Kate’s life is that her sister Jane has arrived back from her honeymoon and discovered that she is pregnant. Kate is thrilled to find out she’ll be an aunt.

For all the details and the resolution to this fascinating case, read this remarkable new addition to the Kate Rosetti series.

YAS! Kate caught the killer. Big surprise? Nope. And actually, although it was one of Kate’s hunches that ultimately captured the maniac, it wasn’t without the help of her partner, Jimmy. Jimmy has been an amazing partner for Kate since book 1. They’ve worked together long enough to know what the others signals are without using words.

Jimmy has been on the cusp of retirement in all 11 books, but I think maybe book 12 will have him actually retire. It’ll be sad, but note that Agent Russo works within the same department as Kate, he may become her partner and that’ll be fine because he knows her well, too.

The relationship between Kate and Gem is heating up which I love. And now Jane has presented a new love story of her own. Everyone is moving forward and growing in their maturity and in their emotions.

Luckily Gem is okay, although there was a close call that nearly had Kate backing up and avoiding him. I could just see her putting her walls around her heart again after Gem got hurt because of her. But Gem knows her better than that and simply said, “Just stay.” 😍 He knows how to talk to her and keep her from running away.

Next is the final book, book 12 “Dime a Dozen.”

When I look for ARC audiobooks, I don't always see that they are part of a series. This one is book 11 in the Detective Kate Rosetti Mystery series.

I really liked this book. While this was a police procedural, it didn't take itself too seriously. Kate would work with various members of the police department, but it didn't get too heavy into the detective work. The dialogue was light and humorous. There were always developments in the relationship between Kate and Gem, her billionaire beau. The plot was well-paced and wrapped up nicely at the end.

My only issue was with the narrator's pronunciation of Gem's name. I seriously thought his name was "Jim" and was wondering why the author used the names "Jim" and "Jimmy" for two important characters. It wasn't until I was recording this on Goodreads that I saw the name was "Gem".

FYI, this book was published a few months ago, but it looks like the audiobook is finally coming out.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for an ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This was thoroughly entertaining, and I loved catching up with Kate Rosetti and the many things going on in her life, both professionally and personally (especially personally). Watching Kate open up to a real relationship even as she investigates a multi-layer mystery is both endearing and intriguing. Add in her quirky co-workers' reactions and contributions to both and it makes it all the more amusing. This is one of those books that makes you sad it is over, and now I am excited to see what the future holds for this likeable cast of characters.

Suzie Athens does an excellent job voicing the characters and bringing them to life. Her inflections are natural, and the story flows well.

This is book 11 in a series, I haven’t read any of the other books and kept up, but it might have been nice to know some of the other personalities in the storyline. Kate is a homicide detective that cannot ever seem escape her job. While out on a date, a dead body rolls off the truck ahead of them. Seriously?? This is a murder mystery that involves a lot of moving parts and more questions the answers. Kate is grappling with so much. The murder, a kidnapped child, a whackadoodle barely pregnant sister, way too much crossover between her work and family life and serious matters of the heart. It’s an easy well narrated mystery. Definitely going back to listen to some of the other in the series. Upgraded to 4 from what would have been a 3.5 rating if half stars available.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley.com in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I cannot believe I only found this series at book 11. I hope the first 10 are as well done as number 11.

I will say, I’m not certain if this was a mystery with a romance or a romance with a mystery.

The characters are great. Very well written and developed. None seem to be overly bogged down in their personal baggage, but they are not flat, springing fully formed into the story, either.
As a stand alone book, it kind of works, but leaves you wondering what you have missed. Not having read the preceding 10 installments, I cannot speak to what is covered there. It is possible to read and enjoy this book by itself, but it does feel there are pieces missing.

Clean, cozy mystery. I haven’t read any of the other books on the series, but I’m sure they’re all just as sweet. There was a decent mystery (a dead body falls out of the back of a truck, rolled up in a rug). Then a second mystery, tied to the first. Lots of possible suspects. Detective Kate is on the case.

I’m not sure if it was the audiobook narrator, or the way it was written, but the main character felt much older than it said. Kate felt about 40 and her boyfriend seems 50-something. Something about it wasn’t quite right (maybe her language choices?)

But if you like mysteries with no foul language, sex scenes, and no bloody crime scenes, this is for you.

Book #11 in the wonderful detective series… wow - Gina LaManna shot for the moon and scored!

This book was so jam-packed with intrigue, twists and turns, and emotion. The mystery kept me guessing to the very end - a rare surprise, and the relationships and emotions had me gripped throughout.

Kate Rosetti gets deeper and more real with every book, and you become even more invested in the story, in her and her relationships. A fabulous read.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

A light, enjoyable murder mystery that'll be a fun read for genre readers, but something about the relationship between our bada** detective and billionaire Gem doesn't quite work for me. Gem just doesn't feel like a real person, just a credit card with abs.

another great read

Another great read from Author Gina LaManna. I just love this series. Kate Rossetti is a complex character and Kate is growing a lot as a person and emotionally, especially with her boyfriend Gem. I feel like I am right there with them along for the ride. And you can’t help cheering for Kate and Gem.
As usual there are plenty of plot twists to keep you guessing. Spectacular edition to the series. Highly recommend this book, but to fully enjoy I suggest start with book 1. It is a fantastic series. You won’t regret it.

Best. One. Yet. Wow! This was a good one! Kate’s life is changing and she’s dealing with her personal issues along with a new murder investigation. Gina LaManna has a talent for descriptive writing that takes you away and puts you right in the middle of Kate’s world. The conversations and narratives all set the scene for the reader to get completely absorbed into the story. I recommend anything that Ms. LaManna authors!

love, love, love!

This latest book from Gina LaManna does not disappoint! The Kate Rosetti books keep getting better and better. Kate and Gem are headed to an event when they run into a problem that is right up Kate’s expertise. Fun mystery with unique characters. I absolutely love the direction of Kate’s personal life. And, I think I’m going to go mess with my colleague’s retirement paper chain….funny!

Love this Series!

Since the first book, I've been riveted by Kate and the "gang". The character development throughout the series makes each book a joy to read. Kate's relationships with her family, friends and colleagues...let alone her own personal and professional growth makes you hunger for the next book! And let's not lose sight of the murders and mystery. Gina does a great job weaving a story that makes you want more! Looking forward to book 12!!

Growth

I love seeing Kate grow up! The mystery was riveting and had me questioning whodunit. However, the best part of the book is seeing Kate’s growth. Since it started it was a who would Kate pick? She waffled back and forth and was afraid to show/have emotions. But to see her asking the hard questions and accepting her feelings for Gem and their relationship was worth waiting for. Can’t wait to see where they go from here.

Love is in the air!

I love this series! Gina Lamana, thank you for creating this series. I love the complexity of Kate Rosetti's character . She is a strong female yet very endearing. I also love following her growth as a person. Not only are the cases she works on interesting but I like following her love story and the stories of her friends and family. Can't wait for the next one.

I love reading about Kate and her detective stories. Her partner Jimmy and his eternal retirement looming near. Jack her ex boyfriend working in her precinct. Gem her billionaire boyfriend. And all of her female friends. This is the best set of characters to follow and learn more about throughout this series. They are just great friends and their antics and conversations are awesome.

I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!!!

Amazing! I love the way Kate is changing throughout this series, especially in this book. Detective Kate Rosetti seems to be able to have a softer, emotional side and I think I like it! I love how she is finding a work/life balance and where her relationships are heading. Loved this book and the series.

Kate Rosetta is finding herself. This series has come a long way ..I hope it goes on for a long time. Kate is learning that she can be a great police officer and have a personal life too. The characters in this series are fun some ridiculous but they are all evolving. Please keep Kate and company going.

YAY, I loved this one!

I still love everything about this series, including the direction it's going. Kate and Gem together make me extremely happy and everything else is just a bonus. I'm hoping the series continues and we get to see an improved version of Kate still working on her relationship with Gem while being a top detective.

Another captivating story about our favorite detective

If you’ve loved previous books in this series, you are really going, to love this book. Kate softens a bit, learns a life lesson or two all against the backdrop of a case taking some unexpected twists and turns. It ends with a nice surprise. An easy, pleasant read with a happy ending.

First I would like to thank Dreamscape Media for providing me a copy of the audiobook in exchange for my hones opinion.

This is the story of Kate Rossetti, detective, who almost runs over a dead body in a rug on while driving with her man-panion. While trying to solve the murder Kate learns more about herself and her relationships with her friends and family.

What I Loved:
- Team, Kate’s team at the police station are a fun group who cares about their jobs and each other who tries to bring some levity to the darkness of their jobs
- Family, Kate is close with her family and I love that her mom works close-by and her sister was so excited to share news with Kate
- Change, Kate is working on making changes in her live including prioritizing people over her job for the first time and its refreshing to see that in the story
- Twist, I could kind of see the twist coming but it was still fun to figure out who ended up being the big bad guy and how he is caught
- Audiobook quality, per usual the quality of the audiobook was amazing and the narrator did a great job differentiating between the large cast of characters

I was so excited to read this book as it gives a lot of Stephanie Plum vibes with a big cast of characters and centered around a strong woman just trying to get by. Since this is part of a series I cannot wait to get my hands on the other books and learn more about Kate’s backstory. If you are looking for a cozy-ish mystery with a great cast of characters and an overall fun case I would absolutely recommend this book and my audiobook lovers out there will not be disappointed.

Love This Series!

I am about to read the last book of this series. I will be so sad to be finished! Jack and Gem are both wonderful--I have fluctuated over my love of them as much as Kate has! I have enjoyed trying to solve the mysteries along with Kate and her greatly entertaining coworkers! You will not be disappointed with these books!
