Maar ho, wacht eens even.
This bedtime story is only ten words long. But first we have to warm up our voices to read the story. Then we have to remember to give a big stretch and a yawn. We have to make sure we are comfy in bed with all our pillows. Then we have to double check that we have all our stuffy toys. Our story needs a special fanfare with a little drum and a toy horn. Once everyone is snuggled up, we can finally hear the ten-word story. And we can finally sleep tight.
This book is so fun and cute! I love all the distractions that go on and on until we can finally be ready to read the "bedtime story". I just know my nieces will be dissolving into giggles at our sleepover tomorrow when we read this together!
The illustrations are really cute and hilarious! All the animals are doing silly things in the background trying to get ready for bed. Every page is full of funny things that add to the story. Adorable!

This is a super fun story that will make your kids giggle! They will love that they get to do all of the warmup stuff before the actual story…because the story itself tells them to! The illustrations are cute and well-done, and the littles will enjoy getting to engage with their parents even more before bed. It will probably feel to them like they’re getting away with something, which is always a hit.
Look for this at the beginning of April!

Fans of bedtime stories with active children and harried adults (i.e. Interrupting Chicken, Olivia, illustrations that remind you of Richard Scarry's or interactive read alouds (i.e. The Monster at the End of this Book, Pigeon) will enjoy this. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this title.
Ready for the quickest bedtime story ever? It only consists of ten words. However, you have to be perfectly prepared for it. Getting ready for the story is extensive and not an easy feat. Everyone has to be tucked in with fluffed pillows, including the stuffed animals. There are vocals to prepare yourself to read the quickest bedtime story with the best voice possible.
THE QUICKEST BEDTIME STORY is a cute and engaging read that is full of humor. While the story itself is quick, the events leading up to it isn't. However, it is packed with fun activities for children and parents to do together before reaching the end and settling down for bedtime. The illustrations are vibrant and as silly as the text and I love how it features animals.
Final Verdict: I would recommend this as a bedtime story for children aged four and up who love animals and humor. Just be prepared to read because the book itself isn't the shortest, but it's unique, silly and engaging.
Colorful and charming illustrations fill each page of this picture book [3.5] completely as the tension rises over the course of the book. Of course, as readers quickly realize, it won't be the quickest bedtime story ever since getting ready for the reading, what with vocal warmups, stretches, getting comfy, some fanfare, and checking to make sure all members of the audience are accounted for, all needing to be handled first, before the reading even starts. While the bedtime story is purported to be only ten words long, it takes a long, long time to get to that story. The experience described here as the various animals snuggle in their beds and get ready for the story is ever so relatable, which will make readers and listeners smile as they read it and even participate at various points. Obviously, this is a must-have for anyone planning a bedtime read aloud.
I wouldn’t say that this is a bad children’s book. I mean, it’s going to get kiddos engaged. I’m sure a great many of them will have a lot of fun with the elongated bedtime story purporting to be the shortest one ever by “prepping” the kids for bed and inserting a secondary story.
All of that said, my goodness, I couldn’t stand reading this.
This is sadly the sort of book that I would probably hide from my kids if I was unfortunate enough to find it in my house. I’d actively avoid purchasing it. And I would read it quite begrudgingly were I ever asked.
Honestly, better to force the husband to read it.

The Quickest Bedtime Story Ever! is, of course, not all that short. The narrator promises that it will be and then stalls on the actual storytelling while asking the listeners to take actions that will prepare them for the very short story. The illustrations are light-hearted and fun to go along with the silly, interactive text. There is the danger that this story will rile children up more than it will help them wind down, but it is too fun to not take the chance. It would be a great story-time book or read aloud for any time of day.
This isn't just a super cute bedtime story, it's also a fantastic way to enjoy the idea of having a bedtime routine. Who doesn't sleep better knowing you've done everything you need to do today? The pictures are bright and busy, and I'd recommend this for everyone with a small child. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
This one looked like it was going to be quick and funny. The Quickest Bedtime Story Ever! Did not disappoint hahah. My daughter’s favourite part was voice warm up and she kept going back even when we finished reading it and giggled the whole time. The art was done so well, it was realistic but cartoons and nice and bright. Thank you to Netgalley and Noisy Crow Inc for the complimentary copy.
This was a lot of fun! However, the actions within it might do the opposite of what readers would want for a bedtime story: make their child ready to sleep. It's a bit too action-filled and chaotic for what I'd consider a good choice, and has some bits that I can see kids getting wrapped up and stuck on. It would work for some audiences and could have an opposite effect on others. Fair warning.
This book promises the quickest bedtime story ever. It's only 10 words long. First, you have to get ready for bed and ready for a story. It's clever, similar to The Book With No Pictures. For older kids or for a second reading, you can ask kids to look for the animal who is ready for bed right away.
What a fun bedtime story! This book shows the reality of a bedtime routine, at least the reality I know to be true. I laughed out loud several times and know my toddler would enjoy this as well.
Thank you NetGalley and Nosy Crow for this advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
A ten word bedtime story? Sounds perfect! But first, we need vocal 👄 warmups, a good stretch, pillow fluffing, all the 🧸 stuffies tucked in. Oh gosh, what more could you possibly need? Sounds like bedtime at my house!
I loved it!! What a great bedtime story! It has everything...comedy, drama, booger searches. What more could you want.? This book will have your kids rolling on the floor (or in bed).
I should have known by the title, that this would not be a quick bedtime story, and not one that would settle them down. The Quickest Bedtime Story Ever! is only ten words, but getting ready for this story was another matter altogether. The story gets the kids involved by asking them to do a variety of things to get ready. They got to warm up their voices, get all their stuffed animals ready to listen and more. If course this got the kids going, being silly and loud, which did the opposite of what I want a bedtime story to do. They had a lot of fun with it, but next time we will read it earlier. The illustrations reminded of the Richard Scary books with whimsical animals, lots of detail and colour and a lot of fun. I know my grandkids will want me to read this one again and again, but it is NOT a bedtime story.
Tja, iets té chaotisch voor me en ik was ook teleurgesteld in het kortste/snelste verhaaltje. Wel leuke art en ik moest lachen om die laatste panel. Succes jongens!
