Now older sister Cory gets her story and her competitor Violet is the love interest. The neighborhood The Liquor Box Vs the big box franchise Specs Wine & Spirits. Blue eyes meet brown, competitive spirits rise and an attraction simmers but compromise pushes the romance.
Moody's threads of humor and inclusion of characters from previous series adds to the overall storyline. I like the clever play on Cory's business name - good job Jamey. Not everything is cut throat! Wait, maybe volleyball?
An easy, fun, light read with heat and enjoyed with a glass of wine or beer. I look forward to Cat's tale in the series.

I'm invested in the continuation of this series since the ending is a .

It took me quite a while to get into this one, as I didn't feel too much distinction in the two main characters' personalities. It led to taking time to buy their romantic chemistry. They went full lesbian and so quickly, but I think that's part of the vibe about this series. A little suspension of belief to focus on their love story.

Let's see what we get out of Cat Sloan's story!

The Sloan sisters are back yea!!! Cory is determined to get along with her competitor Violet. There is a spark the first time they meet and Cory needs to know more about her. Vi is focusing on her promotion and not on her growing attraction to Cory. Their romance moves quickly and is super sweet. I want to move near them and be friends with them all. I love this series

The perfect example of enemies to lovers. A story so sweet it will turn the iciest of hearts into believers of romance. This second book in the Sloan Sister’s trilogy is the perfect follow up to CeCe’s and Alexis’ story. It can also be read as a standalone but to get the full experience, read them all!

I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Cory Sloan is happy. She just opened her own liquor store The Liquor Box alongside her two sisters CeCe and Cat. The only thing missing is that special someone. On opening day a stunning woman enters the store and Cory is captured by her deep brown eyes, but something is off. The woman turns out to be the sales rep for one of her biggest competitors. That might be so, but Cory can’t get Vi Valdez out of her mind and her heart is sure to follow.

Violet Valdez has been climbing the ranks of her big liquor company for more than twenty years. She has her eyes on the big promotion that will make her VP of sales and that position is so close she can smell it. She only needs to get a few more accounts to bag the job. When a new independent liquor store opens in an area where her company isn’t represented yet, Vi decides to check out the competition. What she didn’t expect is to fall into the most gorgeous blue eyes she’s ever seen. And if only Cory Sloan wasn’t so charming and beautiful, her life wouldn’t turn on its axis in all of five minutes.

The story of Cory and Violet is so deliciously sappy and romantic it will make your tooth ache. But in a very good way! Moody does a marvelous job building these characters with all their quirks and traits. Cory works hard to get Violet to notice her and break the ice between them. Violet doesn’t stand a chance.

The whole cast of characters forms a perfect circle to enhance the story. The bond between the sisters is enviable and each of them have distinct characters to make them believable as actual human beings. It was lovely to read and get an update about a few characters from other Moody books.

The Sloan Sisters’s tales read like a dream. It will make you hug your special someone extra hard or helps you to know that your special person is just around the corner waiting for you.

Cory is the second Sloan sister we watch find her happily ever after and I for one can’t wait to see the third sister Cat find hers too!

The part two of the three Sloan Sisters series is really enjoyable! It has both the enemies to lovers and friends to lovers feel, with a little ice queen through in. I love Cory's outspoken, outgoing personality, she is not afraid of pursuing her heart's desire, and she got her rival turned girlfriend by simply being her caring and smart self. It is a delight to read Cory and Vi's journey and I am very happy for their HEA. As the typical Jamey Moody signature, it is heartwarming, low angst and very entertaining.

A beautiful competitors to lovers story. Cory is opening a liquor store in the small shopping center she and her sisters own. On opening day Violet walks in asking questions and buys an expensive bottle of wine. But Cory has a funny feeling, not only because Vi's beautiful but she feels like she's checking out the competition. Which she is! She works for a large discount distributor as a sales manager. But Cory sees more in Violet and works to be her friend. Jamey leaves a beautiful story. 5 stars!

Firstly thank you so much, Jamey. for the ARC!

Another fantastic addition to the Sloan sisters series, Cory and Vi's story is fantastic, they have an instant connection. However, as they are competitors in the world of Liquor sales they don't get off to the best start. However their connection and the determination of Cory bring them closer.

Not only are Cory and Vi on deferent teams in business but they also play on opposite teams in volleyball too. However, their competitiveness only adds to the charm of the book. When they finally do give in to their desires they can't keep apart.

I loved the dynamics between all three sisters and it was nice seeing more from CeCe and Alexis now that they are engaged also. I loved that the Your Way gang and Lovers Landing are integrated into this book along with the Make it Easy team.

If you haven't read Your Way or Lovers Landing or the Second Chance series, check them out now they are incredible

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait for book three to see what happens with Cat and her future love interest.

Cory Sloan is Swearing is a family-centric sapphic romance that offers something sweet and heartwarming for its readers. It’s a romance with a small town feel with real appeal. Its characters are not only representative of sapphic women but they showcase how diverse and talented they are. Moody has specifically designed the storytelling around three queer sisters and it’s a choice that offers readers a more inclusive perspective, one that even challenges stereotypes. These storytelling decisions make for an interesting storyline that’s not only relatable but enticing to readers who are looking for something familiar.

Family and community are often comforting themes for sapphic readers. Their close-knit communities provide a cozy yet relatable backdrop for wlw narratives. While these themes can be charming, they can also be challenging, especially for the LGBTQ community. Moody seems to understand all of this. In fact, it’s on full display inside the pages of Cory Sloan is Swearing.

The story line is simple, yet tangled. Cory, the story’s central character, has to navigate her relationships with her sisters as well as those within her community, all while building a new business and cultivating new customers. As if all of that isn’t enough, Cory has to fight a deep attraction to Vi Valdez, a serious threat to her fledgling business. While her relationship with Vi could come at a cost to her bottom line and customer base, it creates a compelling and heated romance. It’s a tale as old as time and begs the question: Can one mix business and pleasure without getting hurt?

There’s much to like about this romance. Readers will especially enjoy the interplay between Cory and her sisters. There is a sense of intimacy and familiarity present and it makes for a more immersive and engaging story. The point of view also plays a role in this. Told in third-person, readers are able to see things for what they are, lending itself to a necessary believability and authenticity. Bottom line, readers care about these characters and it allocates for storytelling that’s genuine as well as connective.

Final remarks…

Moody has done another fine job and sapphic readers will appreciate her efforts. Cory Sloan is Swearing features well-developed characters embroiled in a compelling romance, one filled with real chemistry and challenges. It’s an engaging storyline and readers will melt a bit every time Cory and Vi draw closer. One can’t go wrong with this romance.

Strengths…

Entertaining
Original storyline
Strong character chemistry
Engaging secondary characters

Another Sweet Sapphic Sloan Sister Romance!

In Book 2 of the Sloan Sisters Romance, we learn about Cory, the older sister. The Liquor Box is her business in the shopping center the three sisters now own. Corrine who prefers Cory is forty four years old and thanks to invested inheritance and being the oldest, had the opportunity to purchase the shopping center so that each sister could have their own store. Cory is sweet and has an excellent sense of humor but also she is strong and loyal. On opening day of the shopping center, in her store Cory notices a striking woman who seems to be eyeing her up before eyeing up the store. Violet Valdez works for a wholesale distributor and is trying to make VP. She doesn’t need another store to pull clients away from her. She is intrigued by Cory but business sharpness will get her the VP promotion. As they move forward, Cory tries to befriend Violet much to her dismay. There is friendly banter and humor in this story but when love starts to bloom they are in a whirlwind neither expected. This is just a sweet, no angst, family oriented, love story. What I love about Jamey Moody is how her writing and storytelling has taken on new adventures. Writing three sisters books that all seem to start at the beginning when they find out about the shopping center. Each book has to have the same events going on simultaneously. Jamey has made that a smooth transition for us to enjoy. Once again delivering a sweet love story that can lift you up on a cloudy day!

After feeling underwhelmed by CeCe Sloan Is Swooning, I decided to give the second installment of the Sloan Sisters trilogy a try. While I’m already committed to reading the third book—because, let’s face it, I can’t resist a story set in a bookshop—this one didn’t do much to change my opinion of the series.

Much like the first book, Cory Sloan Is Swearing had an intriguing premise but failed to deliver on its potential. The plot felt like it was racing ahead without pausing for depth or nuance, relying almost entirely on dialogue to carry the story forward. I’m all for witty banter, but when the conversations do all the heavy lifting, it leaves little room for the kind of rich storytelling I enjoy.

The romance also lacked the emotional buildup I was hoping for. One minute, Cory and Vi are rivals; the next, they’re exchanging sweaty sneakers and professing eternal love. The lack of a believable progression in their relationship made it hard for me to invest in their story. The climax and resolution were predictable, and the absence of a real breakup scene made the emotional stakes feel even lower.

Overall, this book felt rushed and surface-level, leaving me wanting more. Here’s hoping the third installment finds its stride—I’m holding out hope for that bookshop setting!

Jamey Moody
Cory Sloan is Swearing: An enemies to lovers sapphic romance (Sloan Sisters Sapphic Romance Book 2)
Arc
New Release

Cory possesses a genuinely kind and gentle nature, while Vi is driven by her ambition to climb the corporate ladder. Unlike her parents, who run a liquor store, Vi has no interest in continuing to work in that type of environment.

I wholeheartedly recommend both this book and the entire series. The Sloane sisters have captivated my heart, and Jayme has become one of my favorite authors.

Cory has always been an extraordinary individual. I must admit that I have fallen in love with the entire series. The first book was absolutely delightful, and I am eagerly awaiting the final installment, as I am certain it will beautifully tie everything together. I am thrilled to have read the second book and eagerly anticipate how everything will come together.

Although this series began with the characters as enemies, Jamey skillfully weaves their stories together, leading them to fall in love. Witnessing love conquer and positively transform individuals is always heartwarming. I would like to thank Jamey for the advance copy of the book! It’s available on October 20, 2023!!

Another winner by Jamey Moody!! I adore the Sloan sisters and wish I were one of them! This installment focuses on Cory (the oldest Sloan sister) and I loved her love story. It’s so refreshing to read about a sweet and realistic love story of two women in their mid forties. It’s so difficult to find lesfic romance with women in this age group but it was so satisfying to read. Cory and Violet start off as friendly rivals and then, at the insistence and persistence of Cory, become friends. This friendship blossoms into a wildly passionate love affair with such a sweet and undeniable connection! Their chemistry was off the charts right away and it was thrilling to watch them fall deeply in love. These women were older and had essentially established relatively full lives but were missing something vital, something we all desperately want…love! They were a perfect fit, each others missing puzzle piece and I just loved them. Also, special nod to the steamy scenes! They were extra yummy and definitely helped to depict their connection with some spice! Loved it! Can’t wait for the wedding and especially can’t wait for the next installment of the Sloan sisters series!

The 2nd installment in the Sloan Sisters Series is here and it is fab!
The Sloan sisters are beautiful and kind, they have friends all over town, many of whom appeared in Moody's previous books (cameos are always appreciated by fans). The sisters run their businesses in a close-knit community that supports them and encourages them to be fair and authentic.
In this book, the community comes together to help Cory stand up against a business rival. The adversary between them becomes a heated attraction that turns into passionate love. I would have loved to hear more about their rivalry on the volleyball court and learn who won :) I'd also appreciate a bit more of the conflict before jumping to the kissing section.

However, what I missed can't take away from the charm and sweetness of this book. If you are a sucker for romance, if you like southern accents as much as I do, and if you just need some escapism in your life - this is the book for you!

T&T:
Tropes: Enemies to lovers, small-town charm, women over 40, POC representation (Hispanic MC)
Triggers: open-door sex scenes
Rating: 3.5 stars (a few more obstacles and it would be an easy 4 stars)

I received an arc in exchange for a voluntary review.

Like its predecessor, this was a sweet no-angst love story. And, like it’s predecessor, the writing wasn’t quite smooth for me; some of the wording was a little awkward and the ways the characters spoke out loud to themselves was sometimes odd and it stood out when they occasionally delivered exposition by speaking things out loud to each other that obviously the characters already knew so it was just being stated for the reader.

As for the story… as I said it was sweet… maybe too sweet? There was not much conflict between the supposed enemies before they gave up. So it was very feel-good, but at some point I ask myself why I’m reading a story about everything going perfectly well for everyone? I’d really prefer a story with a little more of a challenge in it.

But all that said…. I did enjoy it. One of those that’s fun in the moment, but probably not something I’ll come back to.

Jamie has authored another book with new characters and some of the characters from her other books. The Sloan sisters are back in book 2. Corey, one of the main characters, and the oldest of the Sloan sisters, is featured in this book as the owner of the Liquor Box. I loved the name and the implication around that name.
The other main character is Violet who works for Specs Wine & Spirits.

Corey and Violet work in the same industry and are extremely competitive! Violet’s company is looking to expand in the area and runs into a conflict with Corey who has taken most of the client base.

This is an enemies to lovers’ book in the way Jamie Moody writes them with love, smiles, and heartwarming characters.

Pick up this book and settle down with a cuppa whatever your choice of beverage is and settle into the second book in the Sloan sister’s stories!

If you need to read a book, that will make you feel good. Read a Jamey Moody book. I just really love this book. Cory is one of the three Sloan sisters. And you really need to read the first sister book. CeCe is Swooning. Cory is the owner of the liquor store in the Sloan shopping center. At the Grand opening, in walks Violet, a sales representative for wholesale liquors. Cory likes her looks. Violet sees her as competition. And from there, Jamey spins her feel-good story. It just pulled me in. I just kept looking forward to how Cory was going to break through Violet's shell. Jamey just writes in a way that makes me feel like I really want to be friends with her characters. Just this book and enjoy.

Another smashing book by Ms Moody. Part two of a three book series; not essential to have read book one, but I would recommend it for background purposes.
Cory is the eldest of the Sloan sisters and she owns a liquor store (off licence) in The Sloan Sister’s shopping centre. Vi works for a large liquor chain and is looking to expand her client base in Cory’s area. But Cory has taken most of this said client base and Vi sets out initially to poach them for herself, but in the end they work together for the greater good of both of them. As usual, really well written, with good leading characters and a solid storyline. Would highly recommend for an easy read.

This second book in the Sloan Sister triology(my name for this series) is beyond expectations. I fell in love with Cory Sloan right away. She is funny, sexy, loyal, honest and so much more. Add Vi into the mix and you have a book filled with healthy competition, lots of laughter, love and sexual tension that will drive you crazy. I was so into this book that I read it in a night. It kept me captivated but then Jamey Moody did write it and all her books are captivating. This is a great follow up to the first Sloan Sister book. I highly recommend reading this book but if you have not already read the first one also. You will not be disappointed!

After reading CeCe Sloan is Swooning, I was very much looking forward to seeing how the other sisters would get their happily ever after. Cory Sloan is Swearing does not disappoint.

I was curious to see how the remaining stories would be developed. Their stories are written concurrently so they can be read in any order. I think I liked this one more than the first, and I enjoyed the first one. It was nice to see how the relationship between Cory and Vi evolved over time. I'm still looking forward to reading Cat's story next.

I love reading about the Sloan sisters! They sure do get into some fun love adventures. This time it was about big sister Cory. It was a great story about how to competitors vie not only for business but also for each other's hearts. In Jamey's book, I truly love how the characters' families are all so supportive. If only that was true in reality. But anyway, read this book if you want a warm-fuzzy way to spend reading. Awesome job Jamey!

I felt even more entranced by the Sloan Sisters with Cory Sloan is Swearing an enemies to lovers story. I always love books by Jamey Moody as her down to earth characters come across as people from your local community. I am especially thrilled with even more series crossover with the Ladies from Your Way and Lover's Landing. Makes me feel at home with warm fuzzies for my much loved friends. Now I'm waiting to read about Cat and Elena's romantic tale.

Oh I am so happy I finally got to read this book!

Jamey Moody has brought me another fully encompassing love story, yes just for me, but I will share it with you. I have read many love stories over my years yet I find my heart melting with this one way more than usual. Perhaps it is the family aspect, I am not sure and really don’t care, this was just pure joy for me. If your heart needs a pick me up, read this book!
