Demon Cat Chronicles #1

Demon Curse: A Paranormal Urban Fantasy Suspense

Rate this book
One deal with a demon.
One unintended side effect.
Recipe for apocalypse number...?

Starry-eyed entrepreneur, Nick Barnes, has only ever wanted his family's approval. He has a business on the verge of success, a shiny ring for his beautiful girlfriend waiting in his pocket, and the annual Thanksgiving Birthday dinner coming up. This year is going to be perfect. Except she rejects his proposal, and the dinner is by all rights a disaster. But since the police weren't called this time and Nick now knows his true calling, it was a success.

Nick's ingenious plan to win over his family? Securing a lucrative deal with the government to deliver a deadly bacterium. Sure, it sounds like he's going to be the man to destroy the world, but it's only temporary. See, Nick's a capitalist, and he can't sell anything to random piles of ashes, so he whips up the only cure.

But pesky roadblocks threaten to destroy everything, and when his brilliant scheme is hanging by a thread, Nick accepts a friend’s shady deal. When he awakens, he should've followed his mice and moldy dungeon fears, because these guys are demons.

Real ones.

Soon he gets answers he didn't know were possible. Grappling with his new reality and a loosened inhibition makes saving the world a piece of cake. Unfortunately for Nick, an unexpected side effect sends him down a path the demons can't allow...

Nick Barnes struggles with OCD and has a fear of cats and mice. If you like a band of misfits, sympathetic antiheroes, and a dash of humor, you'll love Marie Flynn's Demon Cat Chronicles, featuring demons, angels, witches, vampires, shifters, and zombies. Must be read in order.

I liked the premise of this book. Interesting protagonist, and I've found a soft spot for demons.

A progression of mishaps, some funny lines and a non stop ride lead to a satisfying read. I did have one or two niggles, but they are possibly specific to me. I did find myself cackling out loud on the train on more than one occasion.

I will be reading book two when it comes out next year

Nick is a single wealthy man. His parents and brother treat him abominably throughout his life. He was deceived by Mr. File and agrees to become a demon. This causes problems for the world. This story has great characters and wonderful world descriptions.

This read was different than what I was expecting, but I found that I enjoyed it. I do like a story that follows along a gray line because it makes it more believable for me. I am will be reading the next book to find out where this all goes.

I was given an advanced ARC copy of Demon Curse by Marie Flynn to give my honest and unbiased opinion.
I really enjoyed the concept, characters and world building behind this story. I was very angry with Nick's parents and their treatment of him compared to his older brother. Even learning the reasoning behind this behavior did not endear them to me. So, unfortunately Nick turning out the way he did once he became a demon was no surprise. Can't wait to read further books in this series.

Chilling because awfully close to the reality we have been living for this last year and a half. But at the same time funny because of the playful description of the tribulations of a ‘poor, suffering’ demon confronted with all that can go wrong in his megalomanic existence.

🌏😈 An entertaining Fantasy thriller.

In Hell city, the demon Andras File has an appointment with the King of Hell, Carson.
They have a new subject being observed on Earth : businessman Nick Barnes...

On Earth, Nick Barnes undergoes yet another family meal, under the reproaches of his family.

---------

A surprising Fantasy thriller in which we follow the evolution of a rather complex main character.

Between desires and realities, what will the character choose ?

An interesting and original novel that reads quickly.

Right, I don't know what to think about this story. What Nick did is wrong in sooo many ways. The things his parents did was worse, I think. It was interesting though. I guess you will have to read it and find out for your self if you like it or not. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is a good start to a new series with defined characters and good world-building. This is an easy read, entertaining, and peaks the interest enough to get the second book to see what happens next.
