All's fair in love and lawsuits...

Jilted at the altar, heartbroken Scotland “Scottie” Holiday feels utterly conned by her supposed Prince Charming. In reflecting on her ethos of love, however, Scottie determines the real villain is the Kingston Company: the children’s entertainment and amusement park conglomerate responsible for all those glittery fairy tales she watched on a loop growing up. With her best friend and ruthless corporate litigator Peyton by her side, Scottie decides to sue Kingston for false advertising and emotional distress, claiming she has been duped by their magical, misleading stories of happily-never-after.

Enter Harrison Hayes, Kingston’s dashing defense attorney. A Kingston loyalist and brilliant mind, Harrison proves to be a formidable adversary, with his deep knowledge of the law (and even deeper brown eyes). Soon, there are more sparks flying in Scottie’s case of a lifetime than in Kingston’s nightly fireworks show—and staying away from each other proves a trial in more ways than one. As the gavel comes down, and their connection heats up, Scottie is forced to face the evidence and the truth. She must summon her past, cross-examine her heart, and reach her verdict on one final question: do fairy tales exist after all?

In general, this story was amazing and beautifully written.
The premise had originality and kept me engaged.

Scottie had been surrounded by the Kingston magic since she was a little girl. (The Kingston Company was like Disney.)
She believed in fairy tales until her soon-to-be-husband left her at the altar.
So after that terrible incident, she was so heartbroken that she decided to sue the Kingston Company being liable for peddling a false promise of happily ever after.

I enjoyed the relationships and bonds among the characters, the story’s structure, the depth, the pace, the courtroom scenes.

Regardless, there was NO romance. And if there was, it was so minor.
Scottie and Harrison were wonderful characters, but they didn’t spend time together as a couple.
They shared a very few meet cute moments, but their romantic relationship at the very end of the story was abruptly and very hastily mentioned.

What mommy issues can do!

FMC spent her whole life under the heavy influence of Kingstone material ( an alias for Disney so the author don't get in legal trouble ;) all the movies about princesses, happily ever afters, songs about magical love... came all crushing down when her fiancé confessed at the altar that he cheated.

FMC had an emotional breakdown and knew without a doubt that her conception of what "love" is has been taught to her by Kingstone cuz she never had a present mother who would teach her what to expect from boys or men.

She decides to sue Kingstone Industry for "Emotional damage" and "Failure to make the audience aware of the unreal nature of their fairytales".

Enter: MMC the lawyer of Kingstone. The handsome devil with a pure heart of gold.

A fun audiobook, it has an interesting premise - suing an entertainment conglomerate for false advertising and emotional distress, after being jilted at the altar… Will she win? I personally think the ending was satisfying and as it should be. But did she win? You’ll have to read / listen to find out!👩🏻‍⚖️

This audio is 9.5 hours and the narrators are amazing. Yay for dual pov and two narrators. First time I’m listening to an audiobook at 2x speed, it adds to the whole drama of the story imho.

I am truly blown away by Stephanie’s sophomore novel! When We Blinked is one I still think about and I was beyond excited to get an early copy of Suing Cinderella.

Love, abandonment, friendship and hope all with a picture perfect backdrop of everyone’s favorite amusement park… Kingston Court 😉

The way I know Stephanie put her heart into this book… it leapt of the pages!

You’re in for a treat when you pick this one up! From the very first chapter… the jaw drop, you’ll know when… the authors note that I loved SOOO MUCH! To her acknowledgments. Ok I’ll read your grocery list Stephanie, let’s be real!

Thank you for the advanced copy! I’m excited for the world to meet Scottie and Harrison!

🏰 What’s it about?
When Scottie is left at the altar, she spirals. And as she struggles with her dentist career she comes to the conclusion that all her woes began with her infatuation with the fairy tale princes of her childhood movies. And thus, the creator of those movies, Kingston Company (ala Disney) is the true villain for setting up unrealistic expectations. And so, with the help of her lawyer friend, they pursue a case against the company.

When Harrison, a lawyer for Kingston, is assigned the case he is irritated that he’s been handed a throwaway lawsuit… until it’s not. And when Harrison shows up to court he’s greeted by the plaintiff: Scottie, the woman he connected with in running club.

Over the course of hearings and time in the court room (and outside run ins), these two get to know more about one another and slowly adversity turns to attraction.

♥️ My thoughts:

🎧 I listened to this one on audio and both narrators did a great job of performing this story!

This one is super sweet. I enjoyed reading how Scottie compared all of her past doomed romances to fairy tale princes, some hilariously so. I also enjoyed the deep dive into the original fairy tales and how they were altered to be more palatable.

At first I lifted an eyebrow at someone suing a movie company for her personal relationship pain, but I appreciated how many characters called this out as ludicrous. And yet, it still worked!

Harrison’s backstory tugs at the heart and I loved watching his character growth throughout the story. I also adored Scottie’s dad.

😍 Also, we all need a best friend who will champion us during life’s tough times, and Payton is most certainly that.

💎 I wish we got a bit more romance page time, but overall a sweet, heart tugging romcom perfect for Disney lovers!

This is my favorite rom-com I have read in a long time. So many books in this genre are tired, recycled, unoriginal. Suing Cinderella is fresh, witty, poignant, wholesome, with a few plot twists I did not see coming. I loved the authenticity of the characters, loved the 90s/2000s pop culture references, and loved the dual narrator perspectives. This book was such a TREAT to read. I truly loved everything from the Prologue (straight fire) all the way to the Acknowledgments at the end (which actually made me choke up). If you want a book that just makes you feel good, read this!

I had loved this author's previous book WHEN WE BLINKED so I was excited to get get a copy of this one to get to early. I really enjoyed this one too. A really fun romcom! When Scotland (Scottie) is jilted at the altar, she decides to go after (sue) Kingston Company, a children's amusement park and entertainment business (think “Disney”). She says she's suffered emotional distress and the company has given children false dreams of the “happily ever after”. She hires her friend Peyton who is an attorney. Kingston has a defense attorney who she just can't stop thinking about, and the feeling just might be mutual!!

Although it may seem a little far fetched, I thought it was an entertaining, fun read. I enjoyed the original story and the characters. I'd definitely recommend this for my romcom lovers.

Thank you to the author and SuzyApprovedBookTours for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

TITLE: SUING CINDERELLA
AUTHOR: Stephanie Mack
PUB DATE: 11.14.2023

This book is for all the young women who believes in happy ever after and despite it all, never lost hope.

This is my first Stephanie Mack book and I’m so glad to have discovered a new author to me with this absolute joy of a book, SUING CINDERELLA. It was a fun read for me and I just love a great romcom story that is fast paced and engaging.

The story is about Scottie Holiday we gets conned in the altar by her Prince Charming. Of course, she blames Kingston for all the unrealistic expectations and fairy tale dreams she was made to believe ever since she was a little girl. So sue she must! Her best friend Payton agrees to take on Kingston. Enter Harrison Hayes the charming lawyer defending Kingston and sparks start flying.

I enjoyed this one even though it might be over the top - I enjoy a good escape read and a romcom was just what I needed. This was a fun one!

Wow! I am blown away! Stephanie writes so fluently and descriptively so you feel as if you can see and hear what is going on. She is probably one of my favorite writers of all time (and trust me, I've read a LOT of books)! This novel was one of innocent romance under difficult circumstances. Friendship and family along with a few mentions of God are evident in this fairytale.

Is life all fairy tales?
Do you believe in magic?
Can you fall for the person you are fighting against who should be your worst enemy?
Can you forgive?

Positive messages: 4/5
Scotland learns the importance of forgiveness throughout the story as well as friendship. *SPOILER* When she blindsights her lawyer and loses them 7 million dollars, her lawyer (which is also her best friend) forgives her and continues helping her with the case.

Positive role models: 3/5
Scotland (or Scottie)'s mother left her when she was young and her father lied about her trying to contact him but at the end of the story *SPOILER* they meet again. Her father fills in for her mother over the years to help her grow up and so do all of the princesses at Kingston.

Sex, romance, and nudity: 2/5
Scottie and Harrison innocently kiss (descriptive scene) and flirt with each other throughout the book.

Language: 0/5
No cursing.

Drinking and drugs: 0/5
No drinking present.

AGE RATING: 13+
This is cute, innocent romance fairytale suitable for teenagers and young adults. There is no foul language or drinking. There is a descriptive kissing scene, which is why I would not recommend this book to tweens. Also, it can be hard to follow at some points if you are not old enough to understand how court works. Compared to When We Blinked (which was FANTASTIC) this book is much cleaner and has no sexual scenes.

Well written and a cute candy fairytale romance!

🦄🦄🦄.5/5

I loved the premise of this book! When I saw it, I was so excited to read about a romance that takes place between two individuals stuck fighting against each other in a courtroom. Instead, it was all courtroom drama and no romance.

We meet Scottie where she gets left at the altar by her cheating fiancée. While she’s wallowing in her new lifestyle of unemployment, homelessness, singleness and just plain ole sadness, she comes to the conclusion that Kingston (real life Disney) is the source of all her pain. She has this frivolous idea to sue this GINORMOUS conglomerate for convincing her that life is chalked full of love, magic and HEAs.

It took almost the entire book for me to even like or appreciate her character. In the beginning she was whiny and had no personality, because she wrapped her entire life around the idea of being a princess and going after the stereotypical fairytale. She came off as frivolous and naïve and I just couldn’t relate to her. But in the end, I did love her growth; she saw the difference between real life and an ideal, and how forgiveness comes with the price of peace for one’s future.

I did like Harrison a bit more than Scottie. Mostly because he seemed to have a more level head and was not fooled by what Kingston was presenting, but rather wanted to believe in a life full of hope, love and magic after he grow up in such a tragic way. But sometimes when he was narrating the thoughts in his head he came across as entitled and stand-off-ish. And the whole plot point of him and Gym Ashley was just cringy at best, even if I understood where the author was trying to go with it.

As for the romance, I really yearned for it. It would’ve been so good if we got it. But sadly, we had about 3 scenes they shared together where they were not battling it out in court, and by the end I felt like it was not realistic for them to be “in love” at that stage “relationship”.

If you enjoy NUMEROUS Disney and fairytale references, heavy lawyer logistics, courtroom drama, silly characters and life advice pick up this book!

Someone’s a Disney Fan

Thoughts: 💡
Some parts of this were cute and I enjoyed the audio. There was a strong focus on family and friends which was nice. The characters have all had major heartbreaks and struggles but persevered to find their happy ending and the magic in their lives.
The legal drama was very similar to the pageantry of the Legally Blonde movies and Drop Dead Diva. The entertainment conglomerate that the MC wanted to sue was called Kensington but was very clearly the big mouse, that no one is ever allowed to name directly without forking over the big bucks. It’s very clear that the author is pro-Disney and Disney magic and goes on to sing the praises of the company in her author’s note, so if you’re a fan of the company I’m sure you will find this book very pleasant and entertaining.
There were references to real court cases, but they aren't accurately represented, namely the reference to the woman that sued McDonald’s for hot coffee. I don’t fully blame the author for that one, instead I chalk it up to one of the most successful uses of propaganda from a conglomerate. However, the propitiation of the propaganda was quite irksome to me and did negatively affect my thoughts on the book. There’s a very clear stance that Disney, God, and the power of belief are wonderful things. And the author seems to be a very positive person in general. So if those are things that you believe in as well then I’m sure you will enjoy this book.

⚠️Content Warning:⚠️
There are tidbits of church talk and scriptures with religious/ salvation talk at the very end. She basically delivers a sermon.

When you wish upon a star…. ⭐️
I really enjoyed reading this book because the author used a few of her favourite pastimes in the story….running and Disneyland. Now we know the story is about Disneyland and all the Disney magic but all names have been changed, obviously. I loved reading about the inside secrets about Main Street, how people try to sue the park maliciously, and even how they pump scents throughout the park! I’ll be taking my Lu Lu next week for the first time and I’ll be paying close attention to detail this time!
Back to the book… The story is about a young girl named Scottie, who, like all of us, believes in fairytale romance. She thought she met her prince charming, but when he stands her up at the altar all her dreams are shattered. As a little girl she grew up going to Kingston watching their movies, buying their products, and she feels as though she bought into what they were selling, magic. So after her heartbreak, Scotty decides with the help of her best friend to sue Kingston and hold them liable for false advertisement. Scottie is told she has a great chance of winning this lawsuit but the first hurdle is getting past the opposing council. You see Scotty and Harrison Hayes had a very brief but memorable encounter, and even though Scottie is still healing her broken heart she can’t help but be smitten by the tall and handsome prince Harrison. The sweet and generous man that she met on a run is replaced with a serious attorney who won’t even look her in the eye. Scottie is determined to win this case, not just for herself, but all women who have fallen for Kingston‘s promises, but will it come at a cost? Maybe dreams can come true but you’ll have to read to find out!

As ridiculous as the concept of this book is, I found it weirdly believable! I would like to think nobody would try to sue Disney over the loss of their "happily ever after" but y'all are in this world with me and we all know people are crazy. I seriously couldn't tell through most of the book if the author was pro-Disney or anti-Disney; in fact I wasn't totally sure until the Author's Note at the end. That's part of what lent credibility to the story, I think. It is a romcom so you can absolutely predict part of the ending, though you might be surprised at how some pieces come together. I did think some of the drama felt a bit forced, like it was needed but it wasn't transitioned into the story super well.

I appreciated all the Legally Blonde references and laughed at some of the fake-Disney (Kingston) Disney references. I suppose the point wasn't to try and hide them super hard since this is princess oriented and the biggest names there are all public domain, but I kind of wished some of them were a little cleverer than Ricky the Rat and Ilsa.

I honestly disliked most of the characters. I found them all to be at best vapid and shallow, and I really didn't care if either side succeeded or failed. My coworker from Cali says the LA area really is all like that but oof, just not relatable. This is my second contemporary Cali-based book in the past couple years and I felt similarly of the other one as well so maybe it's a sign to just not read anything contemporary that's based in California.

I thought the narrators did a good job on the audiobook and recommend this to anyone who loves a solid romantic comedy.

Stephanie's first novel When We Blinked had a huge impact in my life, so I was so excited to (finally, why did it take me so long???) read her second novel and it definitely did not disappoint! In my opinion this book is so much more than any one genre or any trope and it hits hard on so many different levels! The premise itself is intriguing and compelling and had me thinking hard about what contributed to my own belief systems, dreams and expectations. I can very much relate to Scottie's expectation of a happily ever after and devastation, confusion and anger when her own HAE comes crashing down around her. Did I agree with or relate to exactly how she chose to go about dealing with those feelings at every turn, no? I don't think I was expected to as a reader, in fact I think the author is inviting us to question some of her choices. I liked that I genuinely didn't know how this story was going to end or even how I hoped it would. I loved that the romance was not the entire premise of the story, and that the chemistry between the two main characters was palpable and the banter was a delight. Scottie's inner dialogue had me laughing out loud, and the last page of the book as well as the gorgeous author's note had me in tears. I liked how Mack wove her faith into the pages without it being overwhelming.

I'm so excited to see the re-release of this book in the near future and will definitely be posting my review on Instagram to celebrate that so more to come, can't wait for Stephanie's 3rd book!!

Smart and fun, Suing Cinderella by Stephanie Mack held my attention from start to finish. Scottie Holiday’s emotional distress and subsequent legal claim lands her opposite defense attorney Harrison Hayes. Though at odds with each other, Scottie and Harrison have bubbling romantic chemistry that complicates efforts on both sides of the lawsuit. These characters (and us readers) must examine all sides of the issue/claim. As a reader and as a former legal assistant, I thought the legal content was well done. I won’t disclose which side won the big lawsuit, but I will reassure potential readers that Scottie and Harrison get their expected happily-ever-after (which pleased my romance-loving heart). I also enjoyed the friendship and humor between Scottie and Peyton – we all need a BFF!

To my knowledge, there aren’t many legal romances in the Christian Fiction genre, so Suing Cinderella by Stephanie Mack holds a certain level of uniqueness even as it utilizes the enemies-to-lovers trope. This novel could almost be placed in the clean romance realm, but there is spiritual content toward the end. I like both categories, so I wasn’t offended by the minimal spirituality in the beginning. Overall, Suing Cinderella is a clean, fun read that entertained and made me laugh. Four stars!

Suing Cinderella is a fun and fast paced closed door romcom. It is rare that I read a book in a day but I could not put this one down.

Most little girls group up pretending they are a Princess. They watch all the fairy tales hoping one day their dream of marrying the handsome Prince will come true.

Scotland (Scottie) Holiday's mom left her when she was seven. She grew up watching all the Kingston fairy tales dreaming of her happily ever after.

Scottie is left at the alter by her Prince Charming. She is heartbroken and without a job. Scottie blames all those fairy tales for giving her false hope. She decides to sue the conglomerate corporation Kingston for promoting unrealistic dreams. Scotties best friend and cutthroat lawyer Payton agrees to take on the case.

Harrison Hayes is the handsome defense lawyer for Kingston and this will be his first case. Sparks begin to fly between Harrison and Scottie. Can they keep away from each other until the trial is over? Will Scottie face her past and get her happily every after?

I love Scottie's relationship with her Dad. Peyton and Scottie have been friends since they were in elementary school and I enjoyed their fun banter. I also enjoyed Scottie comparing each of her old boyfriends to a Kingston Prince. I could not help but hope that Harrison and Scottie would become a couple.

Thank you Stephanie Mack and Suzy Approved Book tours for a gift copy of the book and this is my honest opinion.

witty, fun, romantic, and heart-squeezing

Stephanie Mack is consistent in coming up with refreshing premises that I’ve personally never been exposed to before. She makes these “big ideas” believable and truthfully makes me think her storylines can REALISTICALLY happen. I noticed this in her novel When We Blinked and I’m especially noticing it now for Suing Cinderella. *spoiler* like when Peyton describes how the McDonald’s cases gave her inspiration in the delectably described nail salon. This made me truthfully believe, wow, this premise is likely, which I’m always looking for in books even if I typically read fantasy novels*spoiler*. I loved that the dialogue was believable, witty, and most of all funny between Peyton & Scottie.

Loved the Male love interest too!! A real life prince.

This was a tear-jerker for me. Maybe because of my very personal experience with foster care, maybe because of references to things I’ve experienced on my own that felt so personal. My love for Disney and how those fairy tales inspired me to keep going (Go the Distance from Hercules was an anthem for me when I needed it). Overall, I loved the observation and commentary of family dynamics, especially non-traditional family dynamics. Highly recommend!

Harrison Hayes, Kingston’s dashing defence attorney, is brilliant and beautiful.
I loved everything about this book: the lively narration style, the underlying moral on every page, Scottie’s sympathy and internal dialogues, her wonderful relationship with her best friend, her father’s support and her relationship with Harrison. There were so many laughs, but also emotions.
Please don’t skip the author’s note: understanding how we reached the end of the book with her words is priceless, and I won’t deny that a few tears fell upon hearing her words.
After all, aren’t we all looking for our Happily Ever After?

This was a cute, no spice romance! The dual POV narration was fantastic. In terms of the story itself, it was very amusing and entertaining the idea of suing the book’s version of Disney! I was the kind of child that never saw herself in the Disney princesses but I can see how that can influence hopes and dreams. And expectations of future relationships. I think books did this for me 😂.

I had issues with the comparison of the Beast with a previous love interest being that he was unattractive because of acne scars? Not vibing with that take. This might not be what the author was intending, but this is how it came across to me.

I have to say, Harrison fell fast and hard for Scottie. Poor guy is trying to fight a case against her but is so hopelessly in love 😂. I just feel like there weren’t enough interactions between them for him to fall so hard. I get insta-attraction but out of the courtroom they met like twice? I do appreciate that neither let their feelings get in the way of how they handled the case though. And we get a fairytale happy ending! But I’m not sure if I would consider this a romance because it’s more a subplot.

For full transparency, there are mentions of faith and religion as being important factors in the FMC’s life.

Loving the authors previous book I was so excited to get my hands on her latest book! This book was more than just a rom com it was also a page turner!
Jilted at the alter and completely heartbroken and devastated Scotland or as she’s called Scottie has now turned her anger to the Kingston Company, they are the children’s entertainment and amusement park conglomerate responsible for all those glittery fairy tales she watched on a loop growing up. They made her believe true love existed and that little girls when they grow up get the fairy tale in the end. Peyton whose Scotties best friend happens to be a ruthless cut throat lawyer , Scottie decides that Kingston deserves to be sued for false advertising and emotional distress, since she has been duped by their magical, misleading stories of happily-never-after.
Harrison Hayes, Kingston’s dashing defense attorney. Harrison proves to be the perfect adversary, with his deep knowledge of the law and not to mention brown eyes and good looks! We watch as sparks fly in Scottie’s case of a lifetime and staying away from each other is harder than it looks, and soon Scottie begins to question do fairy tales really exist?

I feel that most of us can relate to Scottie and having been raised with fairytales, and princesses, and happy ever after endings from our childhood movies. This novel is a fun twist on Scottie trying to get comeuppance for the false belief of the happy ever after with the fairytale wedding after her groom leaves her at the alter. With the help of her lawyer bestie, they decide to file a case against the Kingston company, one of the largest companies in the world. For Scottie can't be the only one to have had her heart broken from believing in these fairytales that have a hand in almost everything. From movies, to clothing, to products, to theme parks - it is everywhere for everyone. As the trial gets underway, the truth of how Scottie was raised, and someone from her past is called to testify. This could change the whole outcome of the trial and make Scottie realize that the new romance in her life, may just be another false dream. Can fairy tale weddings and happy ever afters really happen or is that just in the movies? Thank you to Suzy Approved Book Tours for the invite and to the author for the complementary novel.

This is such a sweet, fresh romance and a fun poke at Disney and the fairy tale promises of the “happily ever after.”

Scottie Holiday was left at the altar and abandoned by her mother at six years old. Now she is left wondering if all that magic and those promises from the Kingston Company (a huge entertainment company, like Disney) she grew up on were really all lies.

Scottie hires her best friend and lawyer to sue the Kingston Company for false advertisement and emotional distress. But she never expected her possible Prince Charming to be the formidable defense attorney for the Kingston Company.

I loved Scottie’s character; she desperately wanted to see the good in people, even though she had been hurt. Her inner dialogue was so funny. I loved all the talk of Disney, er, I mean, Kingston Princesses and Princes. Although this is light on the romance, it offers courtroom drama, family drama, and some thought-provoking parallels to the entertainment world and how it affects our expectations.

At first glance you might think "Really? Suing a company (a lá Disney) because you were left at the altar and they are "to blame"? But it worked

I had a blast with this book. Yes, a little far fetched, but I loved Scottie's conviction in seeing this lawsuit through to the end! I loved all the references that I could pinpoint being a "Disney nerd" myself. One thing I really, really liked about this book is what happens with Scottie and a certain someone who left and what it brings them at the end. It's bittersweet, but in a way very heartwarming.

The small, not so talked about, romance was just a small blip in my radar... What really sold me was the relationship with Scottie and her best friend Peyton. P was just the kind of girl I'd want by my side if I lived Scottie's life.

This book is just clever. It has romance, the idea of a perfect love gone wrong, and how childhood dreams can be part of adult disappointments.

It’s got legalese and courtroom drama as well as some entertaining dialogue.

I ran the gamut of emotions in this book as the main character, Scottie Holiday, decides to sue mega corporation, Kingston Company (think the mouse company everyone knows about), after her fairy tale wedding doesn’t happen.

The book is told in 2 points of view: Scottie and the lawyer for the Kingston Company, Harrison Hayes.

I thought the ending was interesting. I really loved and highly recommend not skipping the author’s note as Stephanie tells about her thoughts on fairy tale love and her writing process for this book.

The book jumps into Scottie Holidays life just as she gets dumped at the altar and her life crashes around her. We follow her and her BFF as they sue Kingston, a Disney-like large corporation, that has sold them (and other young girls) the fantasy of a happily ever after.

Overall I liked the writing of the book. I loved the narration even more! The narrators really made the characters come to life!
The first half of the book was enthralling and I couldn’t put it down. The second half does slow down a bit, even as the court case is actually picking up steam. However, the plot does tie together smoothly and there is a happily ever after. I think I would have like it even more if the author had spent some more time building the relationship between Scottie and Harrison a bit more.

Whew! What a fun ride this book was! What I love most about Stephanie Mack's books is that they basically the reading equivalent of hanging with your best friend—they are fresh and transporting, yet also comforting and authentic. I devoured "When We Blinked" in just 48 hours but I read "Suing Cinderella" in less time, sneaking off to read during the day and late into the night. This book more than delivers on its intriguing premise, bringing together themes of love, loss and hope through endearing characters you can't help but root for. Chapter after chapter, this book will keep surprising you in the best way, ultimately leaving you feeling full of fairytale magic.

Stephanie Mack has done it again! 💜🤍💜

There is so much HEART in this novel. Stephanie weaves her brilliant, witty writing with spiritual depth, a very strong emphasis on relationships (dad, mom, best friend, boss, exes, and the very hot love interest), a serious dive into how fantasy plays a role in shaping our young brains, and exploring the importance of art, whimsy, and “make believe” in our adult lives.

This is light-hearted, fun, cheeky in the best ways, posh and edgy, yet so heartfelt, grounded, and touching. I loved reading this book!

(And if you haven’t read her debut novel, When We Blinked, get on it!)
