The saga of the alien hybrid, James Ripley, continues in volume 2 of the series. The hybrid alien is Earth's last hope to stop a 93-mile-wide comet on a collision course with Earth. The aliens sent James to Earth as an infant to grow, witness, and record Earth's final chapter, not to save the Earth.

But James rebels and decides to fight for Earth despite all its faults. In this hard SciFi, James, a computer programmer, struggles with AI and quantum mechanics to devise a plan using Quantum Tunneling. The ending is a high-tech mind-bender that expands far beyond the dangerous Comet.

I began writing science fiction after a strange encounter in Kauai led me to suspect we live in a simulated reality.

I've been writing software since the golden age. I knew the founders of Novell, Microsoft, Borland, Evans & Sutherland, Pansophic, Apple (a fun story), Oracle, Electronic Data Systems, Computer Associates, and others. Most of the legends are gone now, but what a trip. They would dream about a world connected by computers. Some of the legends became wealthy from luck or just good business sense, and some did not, but they were all dreamers. That is what they all had in common.

I'm married with six adventurous children. I love the island of Kauai, science fiction, and mountain biking.

"Not from Earth" by Robert Adamson is a fascinating and imaginative ride through a blend of science fiction and historical reflection. The story follows James Ripley, a human-alien hybrid, from his mysterious conception to his poignant mission to document or potentially alter Earth's impending doom.

The narrative hooks you from the beginning with its unique premise and intriguing character development. James, who excelled in computer science in the 1970s, is a curious and relatable protagonist who meets a mysterious woman who guides him through life's challenges. This setup adds layers of mystery and excitement.

The book takes you through a whirlwind of historical events, from the Moon Landing to Woodstock, weaving in fascinating science and speculative fiction elements. I particularly enjoyed the clever integration of historical references, adding realism to the otherwise fantastical plot. Exciting twists and a compelling love story pepper the tale, making it hard to put down.

However, some parts of the book could use a little more polish. The storytelling sometimes feels like reading a historical record rather than experiencing the events firsthand. This approach makes the plot feel detached. While the characters are interesting, they could have benefited from further development to enhance their depth and emotional impact.

Despite these minor hiccups, the book offers plenty of action, thoughtful science fiction concepts. Adamson's storytelling shines in its ability to balance complex ideas, like artificial intelligence and quantum physics. The vivid descriptions and imaginative scenarios are a highlight, painting a rich picture of a world on the brink of transformation.

For those who enjoy sci-fi with a twist of historical context and a good dash of existential pondering, "Not from Earth" is a delightful read. It's an entertaining blend of adventure, romance, and profound ideas that promises more exciting tales in the books to come. Prepare for a slow pace and some narrative quirks, and you'll find this book a rewarding escape into an otherworldly adventure.

Good fantasy sci fi read

James Ripley is half human/Selemite, ‘that’s a form of elite intelligence life form, or alien’ and he has a mission to save earth from extinction.
Hurling towards earth is an asteroid, and James goes before the celestial body to make his case, ‘to plead for their assistance’. It has been their overall mission to not interfere with earth’s inhabitants, but James and Juni, a Semenite, convince them otherwise and things start to evolve on earth afterwards. The new AI technology that diverted and saved earth is growing exponentially! Nuclear weapons are no longer a thing and the environment is thriving for the first time in history.
Then the immortals arrive! Unsettling news of that the Milky Way is on a collision course with another solar system in the Andromeda galaxy, and the immortals hold the solution.
This is an excellent story, I think the author gets a bit overwhelmed in the process of literature and writing, but the details make up for it.

I love the idea of this being a six part series. Like Stephen King's Green Mile. This is the second part and jumps in with an extremely imaginative vibe; similar to the Star Trek series. Ripley the main male character is heroic, courageous and fierce almost indestructible! This story is truly out of this world and I loved the AI component. SY-FY super!
