if only i had spent my formative years with wealthy parents who allow me to - like the untamed mare I am - ride my horse in inclement weather, then maybe...just MAYBE...i, too, could have fallen off it and landed myself my exboyfriend's...dad???

there is quite a bit to unpack here. daddy issues certainly. mafia sideplots? unplanned pregnancy? wedding planning your ex-boyfriend's wedding while pregnant with his father's lovechild?

lions and cougars and silver foxes, oh my!

best kindle reward points i've ever spent. no regrets. would totally do dramatic readings at family events for a nominal fee.

Beth (h), an aspiring wedding planner, finds herself entangled with a silver-fox mountain man, Jack (H), after a chance encounter on a stormy night. Their passionate encounter takes an unexpected turn when Beth realizes Jack is not just a stranger but the father of her ex-boyfriend, Beau, the groom of the wedding she's planning. What follows is a rollercoaster of emotions, as the two struggle to keep their affair hidden in public but can't keep their hands off each other behind closed doors. The chemistry between Beth and Jack is electric, portrayed through their steamy encounters and the inner conflict Beth faces as she grapples with revealing her pregnancy, adding layers of complexity to their already tangled relationship. Hot and steamy age gap, unexpected pregnancy, taboo romance with plenty of unexpected turns, drama, and steamy encounters that keep you engaged. Great read for those seeking a bit of spice and a lot of heart in their romantic reads.

Taboo romance about relationship with Ex's father. Seems to be a popular sub-genre lately and this was a good read.

Da..da,da..da..da..DUMB! Was this guy like 80? I’m a few years younger (50) and would never use this type of language. I’m from Colorado and my parents live in a small cabin in the mountains where I grew up. He sounds like my dad. Creepy!

TROPES:
~age gap
~ex's dad
~unplanned pregnancy

Beth is a wedding planner, planning the wedding for her ex. She meets his dad one day and has no clue. They get hot and heavy pretty quickly. Secrets come to light, there's an unplanned pregnancy, and there's spice!!

I didn't enjoy this one as much as other KC Crowne books. I wasn't happy with the pacing of the story and there wasn't really any chemistry between Jack and Beth. Three stars.

My Ex's Dad is the fourteenth book in the Silver Fox Daddies series. A full-length standalone novel with no cheating or cliffhanger and complete with a happily-ever-after. My Ex's Dad was about 25-year-old Elizabeth "Beth" Wheeler, an up-and-coming wedding planner, and 43+-year-old Jackson "Jack" Oliver, a freelance accountant with a checkered past.
When Beth got tossed off of her horse that had gotten spooked by a mama bear and her cubs and left her in the middle of a snowstorm, she tried her best to make it back home. It soon became apparent her head injury was worse than she thought, and she ended up curling up in the snow and falling asleep.
While out for a walk with his dog, Jack saw a runaway horse in the distance. He noticed it had a saddle but no rider, so he knew that someone must have been tossed off and might be injured. he and his dog went looking, expecting to find a hunter flat on his ass. However, he found an injured woman instead. He carried her back to his truck and took her to his cabin.
After she had regained consciousness, she and Jack introduced themselves to each other. Due to her phone having been shattered in the fall, Jack loaned her his to alert her family that she was safe. As they got to know each other, one thing led to another and they ended up in bed together. The next morning, Beth was gone.
Two months later, Beth found out she was pregnant. She had also been hired as the wedding planner for her ex-boyfriend Beau and his fiancee Megan. When she went to the venue to do some sketching and planning, she ran into Jack for the first time since the day he saved her. It was at that moment she learned he was the father of her ex-boyfriend. This was where the reader learned that the Blurb was a tad misleading since it specifically stated that it wasn't until the rehearsal dinner that she learned who Jack was. It also stated that she had been keeping a secret from him this whole time, when in fact she had only just found out...and told him the same day she'd learned about the pregnancy.
This story had an odd beginning. As some books have done, it started with a prologue. Nothing shocking there, right? But then the first chapter began with "earlier that day". To make matters even more strange, chapter 5 was almost a complete repeat of the prologue. Umm...Okay. How come the author didn't start with "earlier that day" as the prologue, and THEN put the current prologue as chapter 1?
The angst and drama were high in this story, but it had enough other emotions to balance them out. The book was too long and full of fluff, to the point it started to become boring. The various plot twists were a bit annoying, too, with so many different paths it started going down and not really finishing. The grammatical errors in this story were far more than I expected from this author. She even switched up the names of the FMC and the ex's fiancee at one point.
It was nice to read about a father/son relationship where neither one of them was a screw-up, and with a FMC who was strong and knew what she wanted. The ex's fiancee did some growing too, which was totally unusual in most of these types of stories. It was a nice change of pace. I gave the book a three-star rating because of its length being too long and all the fluff that really didn't need to be in the book.

Meant to Be ? . . .

Beth had gone out for a ride on her horse, not paying attention to Margo’s lack of eagerness to go out in the light flurries. As it was getting dark, she finally turned for home, trying to keep Margo at a slower pace with the slippery snow still falling. Two bear cubs crossed their path. But encountering the black bear mamma around the bend, standing up on her back legs, Margo panicked and reared up, dumping Beth hard on her hip as she bolted home to the ranch. In pain, Beth began the long walk home but she was very dizzy. She needed to call her dad for help, but her phone had been crushed in the fall. Then she passed out up against a tree.

Jack and his dog Buddy had been out for a walk and noticed the bears earlier. Racing down the path now was a horse in a panic without a rider. He and Buddy backtracked to see if someone was hurt. The snow was getting heavier. Buddy took off and barked so Jack would follow him to the woman unconscious under a fine layer of snow, blood seeping from the back of her head. He lifted her up and carried her to his truck. She was still unconscious and could not tell him where she lived, so he took her home with him. When she wakes, he gives her his phone to text her mom so she knows she is okay. By now, the snow is too dangerous to navigate down the mountain in the dark. But eventually when she reprimanded him for being so condescending, they start to tease each other and get more comfortable, and she ends up having a one-night-stand with her attractive rescuer.

Beth’s ex, Beau, asks her to be his wedding coordinator. To her surprise, she sees Jack who is introduced as Beau’s father! Will they remain silent and walk away from this uncomfortable situation? Or are they both drawn together and willing to have a secret relationship? And what happens when the secret Beth tries to keep from Jack will eventually make itself known?

This contemporary romance is page-turning with exceptional characters and world-building that are realistic and intriguing. Their journey is enthralling with my ex's dad-I'm planning my ex-boyfriends wedding and needless to say I'm freaking out. It's not what you think. I want nothing to do with my ex. I've falling head over heels for a silver fox mountain man, the FATHER of the Groom. Keeping a secret that could change everything, mature explicit romance that is consumed by steamy passion, desire, lust, and all the spicy feelings, older man age gap, ex's dad, wedding planner, drama, heartfelt emotions, adventure, action, and more. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her reader's hearts and attention with my ex's dad and explicit romance that will indeed have readers on a wild ride.

Months ago, he saved my life on a stormy night…

And I thanked him for his service with great pleasure.

All I knew was that a hot, bearded stranger showed up right when I needed it.

(Although he left his manners behind after asking me to spend the rest of the night with him in his mountain cabin.)

It was the hottest night of my life, but I never thought I’d see the mystery mountain man again.

Months later - imagine my surprise at a rehearsal dinner, when my handsome stranger is introduced as the father of the groom - my ex boyfriend.

In public, we pretend there’s nothing between us.

Yet, behind closed doors, we can’t keep our clothes on.

But I’ve been keeping a secret that could change everything.

How do you tell a man with a dangerous lifestyle, set against having more children, that he might be a father again?.

Their Ongoing Adventures -
Jack was happy living a life of solitude in the middle of nowhere, but after having his steamy encounter with Beth, he started questioning his choices. Beth never expected to see Jack again after their time together, but fate brought them back together when she was tasked to plan her ex-boyfriend’s wedding and she discovered Jack was his father.

Beth was shocked but ecstatic about their serendipitous encounter, as she needed to make him aware of her pregnancy. However, she never expected him to want to be a part of their lives, but her history with his son meant they had to keep their relationship and the pregnancy news secret. Unfortunately, just as they embarked on a relationship, their secret was revealed in a maliciously way, but luckily Jack was able to calm his son down.

Furthermore, someone from Jack’s past returned to reek havoc on his life and Beth unfortunately got caught in the crossfire, but Jack and his son stepped in the deal with the situation, which gave Jack and Beth a chance to work together towards their forever happiness. This was a really wonderful story to read. It was interesting turning each page, whilst watching how their relationship blossom and what they both had to go through to get there happy ending.

I started reading this book before I went to bed and the next thing I realised was I had finished reading the book and it was five thirty in the morning. Grab a copy now and indulge yourself in this awesome book.

Jack is the ultimate older hero for Beth. He takes care of her when she's hurt. He is unflappable. And, he is super sexy. Beth takes Jack by surprise. There is an instant attraction and a pull that makes Jack realize she is something special. To his great disappointment, it was just one magical night together.

Fast forward a couple of months and Beth the wedding planner is for her ex-boyfriend, Beau and his fiancee, Megan who used to torment Beth in high school. Talk about awkward...and then it gets even more so when Beth and Jack are reunited while planning the wedding because Jack is Beau's dad. How do you tell your ex-boyfriend that you hooked up with his father? The scene on how the truth comes out is surprising and funny.

Even after the truth comes out, the dynamic between Jack and Beau is incredible. They are a great father/son team full of respect and love. Jack and Megan have an interesting relationship. She is very snobby and he is so down to earth that their dialogues are amusing.

The romance between Jack and Beth develops into a very loving and caring relationship that you want them to have a perfect relationship, but there is trouble in the form of Jack's former employer. It gives the story a surprising twist that includes some nerve racking danger.

I really enjoyed Jack and Beth's story and the happy endings that are had for all.

Jack finds Beth passed out in the snow after she fell off her horse. He takes her to his cabin and takes care of her. When she wakes up they have friendly banter back and forth and later that night they end up having sex and she takes off the next morning without saying goodbye. A couple of months later she finds out that she is pregnant and the father to her new client that she is planning a wedding for is Jack. Also she dated his son for a bit in college.

Beth ends up telling Jack that she is pregnant and he is supportive. He wants to be there for her and the baby. He actually wants a relationship with her. He takes her to her first appointment and they find out that they are having twins!! Meanwhile, Jack is dealing with the return of an old client that he used to do the books for. The guy is shady and wants Jack help him do more shady stuff and threatens Jack.

The day of the wedding the guy shows up and tries to kidnap Beth but she fights back. Jack, his son and some of the wedding party get in a big fight with the guy and his goons and he saves Beth! This was a good book to read. I really thought that Jack's son's fiancée was going to be more trouble and he was going to call off the wedding but she changed her attitude.

How is it possible to churn out successful contemporary romances as quickly as Crowne does? Let me know if you find out. I’m clueless, but this story will easily sway readers to the “awwh” side. 😚 Beth and Jack’s story epitomizes heartwarming with all the obstacles that can realistically occur with an age gap romance, while still utilizing a never worn out and still valued cliche - love conquers all. 💕
Beth, a novice wedding planner, gets thrown by her horse in a snowstorm. She’s found unconscious by mountain man Jack and his dog. After regaining consciousness, Beth gets to know Jack very well for one lust filled night. Two months later, an opportunity to tell him about the pregnancy arises, when she finds out he’s the father of her ex BF, whose wedding she’s planning. Awkward! 😳. For widower Jack, this surprise is welcomed, because, the truth is, he’s been feeling lonely and he’s ready to welcome a second chance at love. The author elevates the story’s appeal with a great set of interesting characters, and by adding an element of intrigue with danger.
I hope that this little blurb peaks a reader’s interest, because it’s quite exhausting writing original glowing reviews for Crowne’s books. 😝 Suffice it to say, I purchased it … and read it again. And that equals 5 stars ⭐️. I have received an ARC from Booksprout and I am leaving an unbiased review voluntarily.

This book is rather steamy, very entertaining and has a few interesting twists. Jack and Beth have no idea how much their lives are about to change when he rescues her after a fall from her horse. Passion flares between them as a storm rages outside his cabin and they indulge in a very steamy night together. After she leaves his cabin, neither can forget their shared night, though they make no effort to contact each other. Two months later, Beth is shocked by two surprise findings. First she discovers she is pregnant, then she discovers that the baby daddy Jack is in fact the father of her ex boyfriend, the same boyfriend whose wedding she is planning. Talk about complicated and potentially messy situations. Surprisingly enough Jack handles her announcements very well and is looking forward to getting to know Beth better and getting to be a father again. He has been widowed for years and had no relationship since his wife’s death. There is just something about Beth that draws him to her and now that she is pregnant, he is ready for change in his once solitary life. Their story includes a few more twists and whole lot more steam as they head toward a happily ever after.

Great story.
When Jack rescued the injured beautiful woman in the snow he didn't realise he'd found the love of his life. When Beth woke up in a strange place she felt safe with the man who'd rescued her & they couldn't help but give into the sexual chemistry between them.
The next day when the weather was better her mother came to get her but when Jack woke up she had gone. Having only spent one night together they couldn't stop thinking about each other but the next time they met it under surprising circumstances being that she was the wedding planner for his son's wedding.
Not only was she the planner his son was her ex boyfriend marrying the woman who's been horrible to her when they were at school together.
Even knowing this there was such an emotional connection that they wouldn't give up but just as Jack was having his second chance at love having since losing his wife years before his past came back & threatened to destroy his future.
There was a lot of secrets, surprises, blackmail & danger, once you start reading this you won't want to put it down having fallen in love with Jack & Beth.

This story gets you right from the beginning. Beth has a horrible accident on her horse, and she's thrown off hitting her head. It's the middle of winter, so she is covered by snow and freezing. Thank God Jack is there, living in a cabin in the woods. He sees her and immediately picks her up to take her to safety.

When she awakes, they immediately hate each other. Or it's more of a love-hate relationship. It's more like Jack is trying to get under Beth's skin to see how far he can take it before she will let her guard down.

And once she does, they have an amazing night together. Hot and Steamy. And very short-lived. Because by morning, she gets in touch with her mother to pick her up. Not sure why she left, but it made the rest of the story flow very well.

Like when she finds out Jack is the father of her ex-boyfriend. The same ex who asked Beth to be his Wedding Coordinator. Woo-Boy!

The secondary plotline about Jack's previous job is really heavy. It is intense and even the climactic ending will have you at the edge of your seat.

I love KC Crowne's books, and I'm happy to add this one to my collection.

Beth is a wedding planner and one evening during a horseback ride she gets tossed when the horse gets spooked. Jack is out with his dog and sees the horse take off and goes looking for the rider. When he finds Beth, she is passed out, so he takes her to his cabin. When she wakes up, she is wary at first but soon calms down once she sees where she is. However, there's a storm hitting the area and she can't make it home so Jack let's her use his old cell phone to text her mom. They eat dinner and talk and its not long before things heat up between them. The next morning, she texts her mother to come for her and is gone before Jack gets done outside. Its not until she is working on her ex's wedding that she learns that Jack is his dad. They reconnect and Beth has some news to share with him. Will they admit to how they feel for one another? Can they be together?

This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

This is my second K.C. Crowne novel, and I'll keep her books in mind when I'm looking for fun, easy "palate cleanser" books.

On a personal note, the commentary about a side character's veganism took me out of the story. As a vegetarian who grew up in rural, meat-eater country during a time when that wasn't socially acceptable, I received a lot of comments and attitude about what I chose to put (or not put) on my plate. In this book, the vegan side character makes some mildly obnoxious statements about meat eaters/eating, and the MMC's mildly judgmental internal dialog and commentary about her veganism is very reminiscent of the judgmental condescension I grew up with. My preference is for characters (and people) to keep their eyes on their own plates and let others make their own choices in a judgment-free environment.

So - this was a small thing that took me out of the story... but it really took me out of the story, and kept me from fully enjoying it.

That being said, this won't even register for most readers. If the tropes appeal to you, I think you'll have fun reading this.

This book is incredibly amazing and a definite page turner. The characters have been well thought out.

Beth works on her families ranch. She is trying to start up her own business. Even though her family has money she is trying to start her business on her own. One day while out horse riding she has an accident. She is found by Jack after her accident during the beginning of a snowstorm. He takes her back to his cabin and when she wakes up they have a conversation. Together things heat up and the passion ignites between these two strangers. After their one night together she disappears while Jack is out of the house. One day while she is planning her ex-boyfriends wedding, she sees Jack again only to discover he is the grooms dad. She soon finds out she is pregnant and has to figure out a way to tell Jack. Beth doesn't know who Jack truly is and what he has done in his past. Will Beth and Jack make it, once the truth is discovered?

Beth goes out for a ride, her father warns her about the snowstorm on its way but she still goes as she thinks she has time to get back, her horse is startled by a bear and she is tossed off, Jack is out with his dog when he sees the runaway horse. His dog leads him to Beth. His wife died many years ago from a car accident and he closed himself off, but when he looks at Beth his heart starts warming up again.
He takes her back to his cabin and next morning her mother collects her. She's a wedding planner, and only when she meets the couple does she realise that Jack is her ex boyfriend's father, she only went out with Beau for a very short time, when he then started going out with his now fiancee. Awkward, but not really as she has no feelings for him at all.
She's very attracted to Jack and doesn't even consider the age gap, then she finds out something surprising, how will he react? Jack's past is catching up with him, will he tell Beth about it?

Talk about strange twists of fate! Beth is a new wedding planner who lives on her family's ranch. She decides to take one of the horse's out for a ride as it starts to lightly snow. Unfortunately, the snow starts falling harder and her horse is scared when seeing a bear, causing Beth to fall off and get injured. She is rescued by Jack, an extremely attractive older man who lives in a cabin nearby.

One thing leads to another, and they have a night of pure passion, thinking they would never see one another again. Of course, Fate had another idea. Beth is hired to be the wedding planner for her ex-boyfriend and that's when the story takes an unexpected and fascinating turn.

It is such an interesting story and Crowne captures the reader's interest from the very beginning. She is a terrific storyteller.

Beth while out riding before a storm, has an accident, and her horse bolts. She gets rescued by the mountain man Jack. They lose touch after one night together. Beth is busy setting up a wedding planner business and has the luck of being the wedding planner for her ex and his bridezilla. Then all she needs is a spanner getting thrown in the works to further make her life more difficult. Always thinking of her mountain man whom she had lost touch with since she was not sure where in the mountain his cabin was. Then Beth is surprised to find Jack at the venue when she has an appointment with the future couple. She is surprised to find out Jack is her ex's father. Beth is torn between keeping her secret from Jack since it could change everything forever. Will they end up with their HEA or torn part from the secret she's keeping?

Beth is out riding, her horse is spooked by a bear and she throws Beth. Jack is out with his dog and spots the horse without a rider. He finds Beth and takes her back to his place to fix her up and to keep her safe from the snow storm.

They end up having a one night stand, but a few months later are brought back together through Beth's work. She is a wedding planner and is planning her old school bully & ex's wedding, and Jack just happens to be the father of the groom.

Beth has just found out she is pregnant, she goes to tell Jack and thankfully he is happy. He hasn't been able to stop thinking of Beth and wants a relationship. But it wont be plain sailing for them when Jack's past comes back into the picture, the life he thought he left behind isn't finished with him yet. Can he keep the ones he loves safe.

I enjoyed reading this story and would recommend it.

Awesome book. From beginning to end, there is no putting this book down age barrier or not Jack was absolutely meant to be with Beth. Throughout the book there is family, good friends, and the chance at true love. The best part of this book for me was the complication of families, and what makes a family. Jack learning how to raise a baby after his wife dies was his life. Then there is Beth, a young lady, trying to make it in the world by herself, without the help of her family. They’re meeting was anything but conventional. And it left a lasting effect on both of them. Jack and Beth aren’t the only couple that you see in this book. Jack’s son is about to get married, and now he has to deal with finding out his father is dating his ex girlfriend, not only that, but she is pregnant. It complicated but easy to read book with plenty of twists and turns. Laughter, love, and danger. Beautiful happily ever after for everybody.

An usual read for sure with a somewhat accidental start to a May to December romance where they never expected to see each other again, but fate had other plans. Our hero's son was getting married, and the heroine was a wedding planner so the two were destine to meet again. It turned into a shock for Beth to learn that Jack was the groom's father as the groom had been Beth's boyfriend several years ago for a short time. Jack was in for a surprise or two himself when someone from his past came back to haunt him threatening his son and Beth. Beth was hoping to really build her wedding planning business from this wedding, but the bride was a real "mean girl" to her back in high school. All the bride wanted was the wedding of the year. Will everyone get their wish? A fast moving story with considerable action that you will not be able to put down.

This book had all the components for a great book. Being rescued by a silver fox in the middle of a snow storm was a great start to their relationship.
Both characters had alot going on by themselves with Beth planning her exs wedding to the mean girl from high school. Then you had Jack dealing with his old mobster boss that wanted his to do some work for him again.
I was disappointed that there was alot of Jack's son reaction to them being together and about the pregnancy but when they told Beth parents there was no reaction except they took it well. Even when Beth was attempted kidnapping nothing.
I think this was more about two couples instead of one, Jack and Beth one one side and his son Beau and Megan. But over all it was a good book that's why I have them a 4 out of 5 rating.
