Hey There, Hop Stuff #1

Better-Off Bunny

Rate this book
I’m a bunny shifter who has been claimed by the wolf shifters. Things are going to get hot...or dead....

I’m determined to honor the memory of my family by respecting the rabbit shifter community’s traditions. That is right up until I’m slapped in the face with an unexpected betrayal. The Elders are offering me up on a silver platter to the five male rabbit shifters whose favorite pastime is tormenting me.

I can either be the rabbits' plaything or run from the Burrows and the only home I’ve ever known.

I’m sick and tired of being the docile bunny I was brought up to be. It is time that people learn this bunny can bite, because I’m not taking anything from anybody from now on...not even from the wolves that are breathing down my neck.

Sure, the bunnies are under the wolves’ protection, but these guys seem to have a taste for getting me all hot and bothered. Rabbit shifters and wolves will do business together, but personal relationships just aren’t possible...right?

And to make matters worse, my spring heat is happening. Like, now. A female rabbit can’t survive going through a heat alone, but can I trust these wolves to care for me when I’m at my most vulnerable? And what about afterwards?

These predators are going to eat me alive...and I’m looking forward to it.

Better-Off Bunny is a stand-alone within a series. This book contains some bullying, but not from Monroe's fated mates.

The Hey There, Hop Stuff series will feature a different bunny shifter girl and her mates within the same community. Each girl will get her happy ending. The books can be listened to out of order, but the community and shifter communities will make slightly more sense if you listen to the books in order.

Not really. Decent at most

I’m sorry??? Why was this so good????

The audiobook is free on Audible right now, and Troy Duran does the MMCs’ voices, so I decided to give it a try knowing pretty much nothing about it. It’s definitely pretty smut-driven, HOWEVER there’s also a really decent and interesting plot!! I ended up having such a good time with this quick listen!

This is voiced by Troy Duran and it's free on audible so I'm going in totally blind and giving it a try. Wish me luck! 😂

Can I tell the guys apart? No. Did I still have fun listening to this? Yes.

Better-Off Bunny is a charming little read about a bunny shifter who ends up falling for wolves. The worldbuilding is barely there, and the story is pretty simple and straightforward, but it's a good time.

It's silly in the right places, and the guys have the cutest nickname for their girl (Puff, because she's a puffy ball when she shifts...get it?), I wish it had some more plot, but it wasn't bad at all. I'll be jumping into the next one later today.

This was a fun and quick read! The heroes were so sweet and protective of their mate regardless of how unconventional it was. The heroine was very accepting of them and her new place with them. The big bads were just stupid but it made for an interesting read. I liked how the author introduced the world she created and how easy it would be to keep introducing new storylines in the future.

A cute reverse harem shifter story!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚💜💙❤️
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☺️😍😄🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Monroe - she was a rabbit shifter, coming up on her first heat. She wasn’t the most popular in the rabbit shifter community, but she was determined to follow the rules and to honor the memory of her family. When it came time for her first spring heat, the elders of the community were ready to choose mates for her since a female rabbit isn’t able to go through heat alone. The female rabbit becomes very needy, and one or two mates would not be enough for her, so they choose multiple mates. Though Monroe isn’t fond of any of the male rabbits in her community she would never go against whomever the elders choose.

The Heroes: Killian, Cyrus and Rig - They are three alpha wolf shifters that live in the area. The wolves protect the rabbit community though rabbits are never comfortable with wolves since they are prey and the wolves are predators. The guys often go to the local café where Monroe works and though she is a rabbit, they all know that she is their mate. They want to get to know her better.

The Story: When it comes time for her heat, the community gets together, and the elders choose the five guys who have bullied Monroe all through high school. They are the sons of the most important rabbit shifters in town and when those five guys reject being her mates but tell the elders they will get her through her heat and provide a home for her. She would basically be their mistress, but she would never bear their children. Monroe had it with the humiliation given to her when the elders agreed and she ran. That was where the three wolves found her.

This was a cute reverse harem shifter story. The wolves couldn’t get over how cute their bunny was, and I liked the way they treated her. The story about Monroe being rejected was a good one, and I loved that she was accepted by the wolves and that the wolves were able to protect her and get back at those who wronged her. How female rabbits getting while in heat made a lot of sense considering all we know about rabbits.

This audiobook was told in the main characters points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Troy Duran and Vanessa Moyen. Vanessa has a youthful sounding voice that was perfect for Monroe, and she is very expressive, which I really like. Troy Duran is one of my favorite male narrators, he is great at using different voices for different characters and I could listen to him all day.

The cute decryptions of the fluffy bunny and wolves being cozy were adorable. But this story is absolutely ridiculous. The heroine is so over the top reviled and abused by the bunny community, that it makes absolutely no sense.

This story is beyond adorable! I couldn't decide if I wanted to laugh at the silly picture of the big bad wolves cooing over the cute bunny or coo 'Awww' with them.

The story is Urban/High Fantasy and in this book world, the wolf shifters are at the top of the food chain. After a burrow of bunny shifters were attacked the wolves decided to step in and protect them by allowing them to cohabitate with the wolves and allowing them to run thier bunny businesses on pack lands. It seemed like a mutually beneficial agreement but the bunnies turned out to be very snobbish, and narcissistic, more on that later.

The following has some spoilers from the first 25% of the story, read at your own risk...

I loved the interactions in shifter form between the wolves and the cute little bunny FMC! It was adorable and hilarious in all the best ways, you can read my saved Kindle notes to see for yourself. If you're looking for a fluffy fun read with a bit of drama and a good storyline I highly recommend this standalone!

The pun got me, ngl

"Hey There, Hop Stuff" is the name of the series and it made me smile so I tried it (despite knowing beforehand this is clean breeding)

It was as cute as the title suggested. They call her "Puff" and a mated group of rabbit shifters is called "a fluffle" 😂

But it's very simple and very superficial. The worldbuilding is non-existent. Nothing is really given a reason why, you just have to role with it.

The good thing is that it's short and it let me read something today when I mostly didn't have time.

I think I want to give the next one a second chance to see if the author gets her hopping legs~ 🤭

Holy hell this book was so funny and adorable! I don’t think I’ve ever read a rabbit shifter romance but either way this would definitely top it! I only wish this book was longer!

✨Fave Quote
“A—What?!” Syrus’s strangled voice reached an elevated pitch normally reserved for tween girls. “A group of rabbits is called a fluffle—” Syrus cut me off. “That’s so freaking cute, Puff!”

This was a super fun read with predictable and one-dimensional characters and incredibly fast-burn plot, although I am always a sucker for bunny anything in my fantasy.

It was basically a thinly veiled ABO book, where the rabbits had regular nymphomaniac heats that required extensive sex, reverse harems (called fluffles), and liked dark soft nests. The wolf shifters, upon mating bites, developed knots and purrs.

I look forward to other releases in the series following other bunny shifters. :)

I finish this was longer and more fleshed out if only because I was loving it so much. Monroe is awesome, the wolves (Cillian, Syrus, and Rig) are great, and the heat/sex scenes didn't overpower the story which it totally could have given that this is a novella.

It feels like it sets up the series, a starting point, and honestly I'm so excited to see what will happen next!

I recommend this one if you're looking for something fun and quick with guys that are 100% about and for their mate.

It was a cute concept, a bunny with wolves, and the fmc and her guys were great. The guys were super protective and loving.

Quick like a bunny

Monroe is the lowest of the low. And as a prey animal, she's already pretty low. Hated for circumstances beyond her control, her time to be paired up has her dreading what should be her happily ever after. This won't go well. She wasn't counting on 3 top wolves waiting for her to run.

Spoilers ahead.
Ok, there's just so much wrong here. Female rabbits are only good for 1 thing: repopulation. Ugh. And she never even addressed that at the meeting when she could have. Also, you never ever ever pick up a rabbit like that. Their spines are surprisingly fragile. That's a good way to dislocate or fracture a bunny spine. How many other kids were orphaned after the coyote attack? I guess they weren't bullied because their adopted parents could have kids? Adults who let kids starve, deliberately, should be removed from leadership positions. Why show Syrus' bonding scene, and later Rig's, but completely skip Cillian's? Do shifts always destroy wolf clothes? Because they shifted back and forth a few times but clothes issues were only mentioned once. The pack structure is never really explained. Is he big alpha? Co-alpha? Regional alpha? Do shifters only live in homogeneous groups? In all of history not once has a shifter found their mate in another type of shifter? How do wolves usually mate? Pairs? Poly groups? Humans, and I'm guessing bunny shifters, have been around for thousands of years. But they only discovered groups kept the males alive 100yrs ago? How did they not die out? Why did coyotes attack if shifters tend to leave each other alone? It was never explained. So much was never explained. There's no world building. The plot is shaky and tends to wander off. And the characters didn't grow. Everyone left the story same as they entered it. Circumstances changed, not people. And it deserves trigger warnings. Child neglect, child abuse, r*pe threats, s*xual assaults- condoned assaults at that, basically the women are trafficked. No mention of what they do if they don't match with who is chosen for them. And they leave it to the last minute so the women are desperate and lack resources. Worse, the women are forced to bond via their hormones and their chosen can simply abandon them because they don't feel the same connection. I was really hoping when her circumstances changed, she'd pick a fair council and enact some reform. But no.

Who Doesn't Love Bunnies

This was a cute, steamy heartwarming story. Monroe was treated like cr*p inner burrow just because she was adopted by a bunny couple who were already considered outcasts because they could have children. Monroe lived her life being bullied, humiliated, taunted and disrespected.

With dreams of love and a HEA; Monroe knew that wasn't in the cards for her since the Bunny Council were the ones to choose a female bunny's fluffle (harem). Monroe realizing that the Bunny Council didn't care about her when they paired her with her tormentors.

Cillian, Syrus and Rig has been visiting the diner where Monroe worked because their wolves already chose her as their mate. As wolf shifters they knew the odds of Monroe wanting to mate with them was slim to none due to a bunny's natural reaction of fearing predators.

The Bunny community made Monroe feel as if she wasn't worthy of love or acceptance but that was their mistake to treat her like trash and toss her to the wolves because she returned leading the Pack. Being newly mated to the Cillian the Alpha of a huge insurmountable Pack, Monroe was able to rebuild all that was lost an show her fellow burrow mates that they messed with the wrong bunny.

With her mates at her side Monroe was able to issue her own form of justice and pave the way for other bunnies to seek safe refuge. This story was so stinking cute I couldn't stand it. I can't wait to see what's in store for the next bunny finding her mate among wolves.

This was the first RH I've read in a while. Straight forward, starts off with crushes all round and the rabbit version of arranged marriage. There are some really shitty rabbits and lots of caring wolves, so I'm looking forward to more from this series.

I liked all the characters, except for the rabbits. I liked the way it went. That new agreement was ridiculous. Monroe went from mouse rabbit to rabbit with big teeth. Favorite bit was her playing with the pack. There were sweet bits, but the rabbits did take it to the darker side. The only bit I liked about them was the name of their harems, Fluffles.

FMC - Monroe
Guys - Cillian, Rig, Syrus
Bad guys - The Burrow

I loved every moment of this book! Monroe was amazing despite the hardships she's faces and the tragedies she's experienced she continues to move forward and try to find joy.

I loved the personality of each of her men and how she eventually faced her fears. Quirky, funny, and action packed this kept me turning the pages.

I’ve been wanting to read this since I saw it on Troy Duran’ IG. But I held it until I was in the mood for a fluffy (hah! 🐇) read.

This is the first book in Sedona Ashe’s Hey There, Hop Stuff series and it was delightful. It does start out a little dark/heavy since Monroe is a bullied and ostracized member of her burrow. She finds true love with a group of wolf shifters in a very unlikely poly.

Monroe’s point of view dominates and I would have liked to see more chapters from the guys’ perspectives, but Ashe did a good job of bringing all their distinct personalities through. There’s a lot of fun banter, sexy times, and - while Cillian, Syrus, and Rig may have initially saved her - Monroe’s confidence blooms and she’s able to stand up for herself.

I enjoyed the secondary characters and I hope to see more of them in future books (especially Reese). Overall an adorably fun listen. Looking forward to The Bunny Blues.

Narration:
Vanessa Moyen and Troy Duran were terrific here. They gave all the characters separate voices and helped keep their personalities unique. The delivery of the verbal sparring was a blast. Moyen’s delivery of Monroe’s absurd exclamations had me giggling out loud.

CW (spoilers):
While it’s overall a fun listen - be aware that there’s heavy themes of bullying including physical and sexual assaults on page. One instance is in front of a crowd & televised. Additionally, Monroe’s birth family was murdered.

Sweet and silly but with serious bullying trauma

This book gets props for being more creative with FMCs. It was interesting to have a bunny shifter and the play on breeding like rabbits.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: bullying

This was the fluffiest shifter reverse harem I’ve ever read. We have a bunny shifter FMC, three wolf shifter MMCs who find her the most adorable thing ever, and a soap opera level side plot about how she’s been mistreated by her own kind.

I ate this up like the sugary snack it was.

OH MY GOOD

This was the cutest best thing I’ve read in a long time. The puns made it even better, and god do I love it when wolves go all over sized dog. Ugh this gives me all the feels I used to get from Patrica Briggs Mercy Thompson series, the little shifter running with the big shifters. Such a fun, fast paced, and entertaining read.

2.5 ⭐️’s Needs more story.

This is difficult to rate…
There’s a lot of potential here, and a lot to enjoy.

Great dialogue, interesting plot, some sweet and endearing moments.
However, the author has tried to cram too much into such a short book.

There’s not enough justification for the bullying to be believable. Not enough variety in personalities within the bunny shifters to make it real.

Most importantly, not enough detail and interaction with the mains to enjoy the journey.
Certain scenes had so much potential, but were simply too rushed, too shallow. With most of the emphasis on shallow and simplistic sex scenes, that felt forced into the story.

Sooo, while the book was not that great, it had so much that could have been, you can’t help but keep reading, and editing within your own head.

Maybe the stories get better as we get further in???

Super quick and utterly hilarious read. With a heroine who is a bunny and worried about her upcoming heat, the last thing she expects is a group of wolves to take a liking to her. It was honestly hilarious how worried she was about going into heat. Apparently the saying 'humping like bunnies' is no joke and bunnies are often known to tire out their partners to the point of death. Alone in the world the heroine goes with the flow and this includes entering herself in some type of bunny auction that will pair her with a pack to handle her heat. Her wolves however are not OK with this and it's up to them to prove to her they are up to the challenge.
