Mason and trouble have had a long relationship. They’re about to renew their vows.

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is a robbery!”

Two heavily armed gunmen crash into a quiet Florida bank, and army veteran Mason Sharpe is caught in the middle of a deadly heist.

Later, the cops describe the robbery as an act of senseless violence, but something seems off to Mason. Was this really about the money? Or is there something else going on here?

When the two gunmen are revealed to be fellow veterans from the Army’s famed 75th Ranger Regiment, Mason’s doubts only grow. The bond of shared military service is strong, and Mason can’t let these questions rest.

He starts to dig for the truth - and finds himself on a headlong collision course with a governmental conspiracy big enough to bury him.

But he won’t go down without a fight, and this time, he won’t be fighting alone. He’s bringing a band of fellow warriors who understand the call of duty.

He’s bringing a Fire Team.

Fire Team - book 4 of the superb Mason Sharpe action thriller series. Perfect for fans of Lee Child, Jason Kasper & David Archer.

What would you do if you find yourself in the middle of a bankrobbery? In Fire Team by Logan Ryles we get one solution. This is another great addition to the series about ex detective Mason Sharpe and his roving the american country in his old pick up. It is as usual a well written story and the characters are wonderful. I am glad that I have three more books to read in this series and I can recommend it.

I enjoyed this book. Mason, the main character struggles with the loss of his fiancée and finds himself unable to abandon his fellow brother’s in arms. While the fight scenes tend to go on forever, it is a good book. Touching on thought provoking topics.

This book begins with a bank robbery, and Mason is taken hostage. Then things get complicated.

The plot is a step beyond the usual sorts of problems that Mason has been dealing with, and the story involves large corporations, politicians, and medically retired veterans. The plot moves well, but this book doesn't have the verisimilitude that previous books have had. The problem is unreasonable for a small group to solve, even by the standards of action/suspense novels.

Mason's allies are memorable and sympathetic, and we see a beginning of his healing process after his inciting trauma in book 1.

This book was weaker than previous series entries, largely because the problem was unrealistically large, and the solution involved rather too much hand-waving. It was entertaining while I was reading it, but it didn't have the impact of previous volumes. I'll continue the series, but if I had not had previous experience with this character, I might not have as much tolerance for its faults.

Fire Team by Logan Ryles is the fourth book in the series about Mason Sharpe. I had not read the previous three but decided to give this title a go when it came up on Netgalley. It works well as a stand-alone, even though I at some times felt like I was missing some of the back story.

Mason is at the bank to sort out his affairs, when someone shouts “Ladies and gentlemen, this is a robbery!”.

They are all forced down on the floor as one of the robbers heads to the vault. Leaving, the robbers carry only a small bag and also grabs two hostages - Mason and a woman who was on the floor next to him.

There's just something with the whole event which doesn't sit right with Mason and his brain is working overtime trying to figure it out.

It turns out that the two bank robbers are veterans from the same Army Ranger Regiment as Mason served in. As he starts asking questions he finds himself changing sides to that of the robbers to unearth years of cover-ups, deception and fraud high up in the government.

Fire Team is a story that keeps you on edge, not knowing what's coming next, with plenty of unexpected twists and turns. It also has some exciting, cool AI controlled tech which further adds to the story !

Mason is just a good guy and one you want in your corner. He appears to be homeless, just wandering around but he is trying to come to terms with the loss of Mia. An Army Ranger plus former detective gives him skills to deal with challenges he meets in his travels. The book was an easy read, captivating from the first chapter. Mason just wanted to see Florida and had some bank business to take care of so that is where the story starts. While he is at the bank there is a robbery and he along with a woman are taken hostage….things don’t add up. The story starts to build and then you meet Holder and the meatheads who are so easy to dislike. Mason and his new friends go through a number of rental cars in their quest for answers will an unlikely helper in the computer geek. Great story.

Mason is in a bank in Florida when a bank robbery happens. He quickly figures out that something doesn't make sense about the robbery and ensures he is taken hostage along with a female customer. He can't let things go when he discovers that the robbers are ex-Rangers and soon becomes involved in something that involves past military events and a government conspiracy.

This was another riveting read and the action so intense that I couldn't tear myself away. It's a complete thriller that leaves your breathless and left me wishing I had the next book in the series lined up and ready to get stuck into immediately.

Not even a trip to the bank can be a non issue for Mason Sharpe. The bank is robbed and he is kidnapped along with another bank customer.. Turns out the bullets in the guns were blank and they didn't even want the money. They were after something in a safety deposit box and that something is about to turn his world upside down. Turns out the perps were rangers as well as the other bank customer. Yes, she was in on it too. Now they need Mason to pull their butts out of the fire. What they stole was an encrypted USB drive with critical information about AI drones. Drones with massive destructive abilities that can be used against the United States, and traitors that only care about the money. Terrific story!

Mason Sharpe is the kind of guy who just can't seem to stay away from trouble. Once he gets in a sticky situation though, even with several chances to bail out, he stays the course until those who are wronged get justice. It's no exception in this edition as he gets taken hostage while trying to do a little banking, and finds a massive coverup that needs the lid blown off of it. He's just the guy to do it, too.

It's a compelling and crazy ride, juxtaposing Sharpe's empathy with a timely look at the dangers of artificial intelligence and its complete lack of that same quality. But you can always be assured the man with a heart will triumph over cold, unfeeling technology in the end!

An exciting book once again that has Mason being stuck in the middle of a bank robbery. While the robbery is taking place something feels off about the whole thing and while watching he also notices the way that they are handling themselves and that they are military-trained. He later becomes one of the hostages and finds out that the men are from the 75th Ranger Squad which he knows about, he knows something more is at stake here and he works towards finding the answers. A very good and exciting book from start to finish and is very much worth the read. I received this book from Netgalley.com

Mason is a wanderer like Jack R (see Lee Child books) and is in a Florida bank when a robbery takes place. He thinks there's something odd about the robbery and offers himself as a hostage along with a woman. Turns out they are all ex-military (Army, Navy Seal etc) and were after something in a safe deposit box.

The more Mason discovers about the reason for the theft, the more determined he is to help them get justice. It's a conspiracy at a company tied to the military to cover up "mistakes".

A few sad moments but Mason gets the "guys" in the end.

PTSD

They used to call it battle fatigue. The truth is that it doesn't have to come from battle. You can be in any kind of traumatic stress from hundreds of things, some even imagined. Whatever the cause it is devastating. This story covers it pretty well, although it doesn't cover the endless nightmares, waking up screaming, hitting your spouse as be or she tries to help. The loneliness that you feel - and the depression. I would have liked to see a little bit more hope at story:s end, but it wasn't there. I hope they find peace - and joy.

a soft landing

I know this is just the intermission, but this one gives very good closure. Logan has grown as an author and it shows in this story. As always, I am already waiting for the next book.

Grabs you at the start and keeps pulling you along. But the end makes you feel like you are releasing the breath you were holding so you can finally sit back and relax. A good surprise.

Talk about trouble, I mean Mason can’t even do a simple task without getting into it. And this one is a doozy ! Action, bank robbery, kidnapping, murder and so much more. Take a ride on this kidnapping adventure, well maybe adventure isn’t the right word so much as trauma filled. Sooo edge of your seat nonstop tension. Can’t wait for the next Mason trouble….

I just finished the most recent Mason Sharpe novel and I must say they keep getting better and better. I can not wait until the next novel drops. I mean I sure hope there are more books in this series. I know Mason is a loner but I sure hope in one of these novels he teams up with someone or some people who become his team. Don’t waste another minute debating whether to get this book. You won’t be disappointed!!!

Fire Team Review

In Book 4 of the Mason Sharpe series, Sharpe is tying up loose ends at a bank in Florida, when a Robbery takes place. From there the story takes a crazy turn, the author really understands PTSD and really understands The Military Industrial Complex and how it has taken control of our country. She highlighted how since WW2 how many lives have been lost and how many Billions of dollars have been spent.

great story line with possibly a bit of truth on corruption

Mason seems to be in the wrong place or right place a lot. He never shirks his duty when evil enters to picture.
He offers to help fellow soldiers when he learns the reason they robbed a bank. Threw the twist and turns to uncover the truth Mason is shot at beat on and almost cooked but he prevails to continue his journey

Fire Team

Brilliant, quite superb and I enjoyed every single page. Just wanted to thank Logan Ryles for transporting me to a different place and living. Bloody brilliant story well written. It sounds trite but the book is unputdownable. I lost a lot of sleep reading this, going to bed at 3am is not good for an old fella like me. Thank you Mr Ryles for making an old man’s heart beat just little bit faster than norm. Recommended, highly!!

The best yet.

Almost one year has passed since Sharpe watched his fiance die in a school shooting. Now in Jacksonville, Florida, he's in a bank, about to conduct business when there's a robbery - and this one starts a hard charge to action.

While the adventures are well written, what's even better is seeing Sharpe begin to emerge from his deafening grief. When a protagonist transforms - and it's as well written as this - five stars aren't enough. Well done!!!

Money, misery, and the madness of war....

Another outstanding read...this one emphasizing the corruption in war and politics... even as it shows a flash of the honor of true patriots and soldiers who give their all for their country and their brothers in arms. This book also carried the familiar moments of heartbreak but below the surface beats a message of hope and healing for one Mason Sharpe.... and perhaps for many who have lost their way and their hope....

Fully Dialed

I’m really stingy with 5 star reviews, but Ryles earned it with this fourth book in the Mason Sharpe series. The character is fully dialed in, the plot is unique and unfolds skillfully, the supporting cast and dialogue are excellent. Even the writing and metaphors are sharp (no pun intended) and ring true.

This was such a good surprise. I originally thought it was going to be about firefighters however, it ended up being about the military. It really made me think at the end that with everything that we know about AI that it is a reasonable possibility. Let's only hope that if we use AI that it would be for the good guys.

Good as Usual

A very interesting and compelling storyline, well thought out and delivered. Action packed and exciting with some intriguing twists and turns (albeit somewhat expected). My only concern was some of the descriptive dialogue was a bit tedious and overdone! But. I look forward to many more Mason Sharpe stories.

Dull

Dull at best, long winded and over drawn at best
By the end of it,.I needed it to end, I really didn't care who lived or died, or who won or lost
What took 460 pages could have been done in 300, overall a poor book, but deserved 3* for the overall storyline of Mason still trying to overcome the loss of Mia and by then seemingly having done so

pulse pounding!

Mason Sharpe was just trying to take care of business when there was a bank robbery and he became a hostage. But there was so much more in play than a bank robbery…will Mason survive the aftermath?
Great story and the ending left me feeling a bit melancholy. Looking forward to the next book.

What can I say except that this series of books is literally costing me sleep. I'm four books in and once I sart I can't put them down. Any comparison to Reacher would only detract from the author's immaculate story telling ability and plot lines but, if you like flawed heroes with their own moral code, then introduce yourself to Mason Sharpe. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

AI – the military-industrial complex and politicians. A bank robbery staged not for money. A non-stop adrenaline adventure for retired Ranger Mason Sharpe. I received an ARC from NetGalley and the opinions expressed are my own.

I adore this series, and this book lives up to expectations. Even a simple trip to the bank turns out to be complicated for Mason Sharpe. An intricate and heart breaking story. Fast paced, beautifully constructed, this one demands to be read as quickly as possible.

A lot of action

These books have been a good read. From the first page, you are held in a grip of need to know what comes next. Mason has a true compass for honor and protecting the innocent.

Another great story

I really like the series. I've read the first four in a couple weeks. I like the first person for format. It works for the lead character, Mason Sharp. Good plot, good writing and a few twists along the way. Getting #5!
