And why has this fledgling killer picked Pine Haven to terrorize? Jessie Night has settled into her new life, but when a body is found in the frozen North Carolina mountains, she realizes that Pine Haven is being targeted by a new psychopath with a particularly disturbing fetish.
In the isolation of winter, a murderer has set up shop in Pine Haven. With each attack increasing in viciousness and depravity, Jessie knows that the clock is ticking on bringing this madman to justice. But with more hours of darkness in which to work, the killer is slowly transitioning from hunted to the hunter...and he has Jessie set in his sights.
Returning to the books in the Jessie Night series is like visiting friends. I have a connection with the main characters, and the subject matter is always portrayed realistically, but with feeling. This book touched on mind control and training assassins, and what can happen when children are exposed to cruel practices.
While Jessie and Alex investigate some brutal murders, they discover a correctional facility that was used to correct children who were deemed to have behavior problems and were not fortunate enough to have an adult advocate for them for whatever reason. As always, plenty of plot twists and a surprise ending.
Excellent, heartstopper, trying to figure out who done it, I like a book that I can’t figure it out in the first two chapters. I am now going to be starting on book 4, and I can’t wait to go through the whole series. These are fabulous books to read I recommend them to anyone.
I am liking this series, then again it has been a struggle to read on. I am not saying it's bad book, it's just a little different. Wish I could connect a little better to the protagonist.
A young woman was found dead on the ice of a small lake just out of town. When the autopsy was performed a strange injury was noted. This started the next case Jessie worked with Alex. Many secrets and surprises come to light.
Finally they captured the killers and who they were was a surprise. It was an interesting story and a lot of situations that allowed them to hopefully find peace for the town.
Too much killing and in such violent ways! The descriptions got terribly vivid, graphic. Again, the fighting skills of Jessie Night were too exaggerated.
Third book was written just as well as the first two! I do wish they were a lot longer though. I’m reading them to fast, but they are really good reads.
