When Detective Casey White is called to the scene of what she thinks is a drowning, she is as surprised as anyone that the death of Karol Witney is not an accident. Determined to find her killer, even if it means risking her own life, Casey gets tech support from the new office employee as well as help from her colleague Tracy and her husband Jericho. The pace is fast, with more clues being given as well as red herrings and false trails. There is a lot of family drama, too, as Jericho is gravely injured in his desire to help Casey solve the case. I enjoyed getting to know the characters better. Although this is the tenth book in the series, it is only the second one that I have read and although I felt at times that I was missing some information that had been in previous books, I did not think that it took away from my thorough enjoyment of this one. The characters are dynamic and relatable, the plot is realistically portrayed and written in a way that drew me into the story methodically and relentlessly. Part police procedural and part mystery, this book is not to be missed by fans who enjoy good detectives who put it all on the line to solve the crime.

4.5⭐

Detective Casey White returns in a story. That's gripping and intriguing.

As Casey and her investigator Tracy are going to put not only their own lives in danger. But the lives closest to them.

When a reunion of sorority sisters ends in tragedy and what seems a simple drowning is anything but.

And when the victims husband arrives in the Outer Banks, he soon becomes a suspect.

But then someone tries to run Tracy and Casey of the road and that's only the start.

As the team learn of a treasure hidden at the bottom of the ocean. A treasure someone is willing to kill for.

But who?

And can Casey and co find out before one of her team or someone she loves end up dead?

And with twists and turns. Not to mention danger. This was a cracking addition to the series, and I really enjoyed the whole treasure aspect of it. Which I found really fascinating and I would happily recommend it to others.

My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an early copy of Our Sister's Grave. 😊

A reunion of sorority sisters ends tragically when Karol Witney drowns during a planned diving and scuba expedition. However, the medical examiner doesn’t think this was a simple drowning. Karol’s face mask was forcibly removed and there is a fresh handprint on her wrist. X-rays show that she has been the victim of domestic violence so when her husband quickly shows up at the police station, Detective Casey White and her team consider him to be a strong suspect. Things are not that easy and soon Casey, her fiancé Jericho and daughter Tracy are enmeshed in a deadly mystery above and below the water.

Our Sister’s Grave is the tenth in this excellent series. The plots keep growing stronger, the characters have become so familiar we feel we’d know them if we saw them on the street and the Outer Banks always provides an atmospheric location. I’m looking forward to the Next Casey White thriller. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and B.R. Spangler for this ARC.

This wasn't my favorite book in the series. I found it hard to get back to it because of it, too. It doesn't help that I was suspicious of the Rutledge brothers from the start. I expected Janine as well, although in the end, I felt the worst for her and her children. I never saw Tina coming, though. I wrote her off as a suspect when her house got ransacked.

Absolutely unputdownable! Could there be a better story line? Murder, treasure and some seriously awesome characters. I love Casey White and this book was a home run. It starts off at breakneck speed and races with twists and turns until the final shocking moments. I adore the ocean and the atmosphere in this book really grabbed my attention. The story was unique and well written. This one is like a rollercoaster start to finish. Simply brilliant. A must read for all you suspense and mystery junkies like myself. You will not be sorry you picked this one up. And you will not be able to put it down!

Spangler does it again with an action packed adventure!

A sorority sister reunion ends with deadly consequences, and a full mystery surrounding the death ensues. Casey and her team are quick to follow leads, and as always, danger follows them at every turn.

I’ve followed the detective Casey white series from the beginning, and this one was as exceptional as the previous books. It had me on the edge of my seat and flying through the pages to see what would happen next. Spangler always manages to pull a full range of emotions from me, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for my honest feedback!

I’ve done every book in this series and was so excited to be chosen to do this ARC. This book didn’t disappoint! I wasn’t much of a fan of Casey in the beginning of the series but I have grown to like her. I feel she gets better each book. I love that you find out they want more with Thomas and Tabitha. The lost treasure story line was cool! It’s not like any of the other books which was nice. I felt everyone grew a little closer in this book. I do wish something would happen for Tracey and Casey. That slow “relationship” I feel has been dragged along. Something needs to progress there. This was a really good book and I look forward to book 11!

I really enjoy the Casey White series and this novel does not disappoint. Set around the World of diving, it is unusual for that and is well plotted throughout. Buoys To Seamen as a boat name was pure genius. Very enjoyable read.

Our Sister’s Grave, the latest in the Casey White detective series, starts with a tension-filled prologue, setting the scene that leads to Casey’s next case. The action continues throughout the book but is also well-balanced with descriptions of Casey’s home life with Jericho and their two foster children.

Spangler does an excellent job immersing the reader with vivid descriptions of the Outer Banks and explaining the workings of scuba diving and even some shipwreck history. And as always, the character development of Casey and Jericho is first rate. This is all done while creating a fast-moving story that will have you reading just one more chapter… For those new to the series, Our Sister’s Grave can easily be read as a standalone novel. But I know I’m looking forward to Casey’s next adventure!

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this digital ARC.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Our Sister’s Grave, the tenth novel to feature Detective Casey White, set on the Outer Banks, North Carolina.

Karol Witney is holidaying with seven of her sorority sisters when she drowns on a dive. The medical examiner gives Casey evidence that Karol was murdered and her death is not the accident it first appeared. When Casey goes diving to investigate the crime scene her fiancé, Jericho, is attacked. Then another body is found.

I thoroughly enjoyed Our Sister’s Grave, which has an eventful plot with plenty of twists and turns. It is told from Casey’s first person perspective so the reader gets a close look at her reactions to the many events and danger she faces. It also means that the reader knows what she knows, allowing scope for guesswork and interpretation of the known facts. It makes for an immersive read.

This is an interesting read. There isn’t one through line in the novel with several people committing crimes as part of the bigger picture. I was astonished at the number of arrests and how it all comes together. Hats off to the author for such an unusual take on a murder. The links between the characters take some swallowing, but who needs reality when the entertainment is so good?

The novel is fast paced with a series of life threatening events and some unexpected twists that give Casey pause for thought and some new permutations to consider, even if the motive turns out to be an old standby that has existed since time immemorial.

I like Casey White. Now that she has found her daughter, a thread which ran through the early novels, and has found happiness with Jericho she seems calmer and more clear sighted. Even fostering two children can’t upset her equilibrium (not sure that’s possible).

Our Sister’s Grave is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Wow. Our Sister's Grave opens with an emotional hit, in which readers will certainly identify with the victim. B.R. Spangler has created a book filled with so much action and so many thrills that I kept thinking this novel would make a terrific TV series. Our Sister's Grave is Book 10 in the Detective Casey White series. Although part of a series, Our Sister's Grave works well as a stand-alone novel. Although Our Sister's Grave is the first book in this series that I have read--and how have I missed the previous novels?--I had no problem following along with just minimal past history.

From the opening sequence, each character is described in imaginative detail. The fear that the victim feels in a prologue is easily identifiable. She is on the cusp of freedom and readers can imagine her excitement at starting a new life. The other characters also come into sharp focus as readers get to know them. There is a lot of action and danger, but also love and happiness, Two possible triggers are spousal abuse and infidelity. The conclusion is not as predictable as is often so true. It took some effort to solve the crime. The history of the Outer Banks was especially interesting and well researched.

A big thank you to the author, publisher Bookouture, and to NetGalley for providing this ARC. I definitely enjoyed this novel, and I will look for more Casey White Spangler novels.

A group of sorority sisters go diving together. But one woman never returns, dying before she reaches the surface. Detective Casey White's investigation is hampered by no crime scene, no witnesses and no evidence pointing to a killer...
Our Sister's Grave is the 10th book in the Casey White detective thriller series set in America.
Karol Witney dies underwater and so there is no crime scene for the detectives to investigate. The post mortem reveals a history of abuse and her husband is a cop. A murder investigation is launched but the detectives have little to go on. It soon becomes clear that someone wants to stop Casey and her team from fiding the truth.
There is huge danger and drama for the main characters and three of the team almost die in the first third of the book in car and diving incidents. The book is written from Casey's first person perspective so we have knowledge of her emotions and deductive processes as the case proceeds.
On the personal side of Casey's life, she is adjusting to life as a foster family. This subplot follows on directly from the last book. There are warm emotions that soften the tone of the book overall, although Casey and Jericho experience the worries that all parents face. Casey is also reminded of all she has lost out on with her biological daughter who was kidnapped.
Our Sister's Grave is a dramatic and action packed detective thriller.

Engaging murder mystery.

This murder mystery set in North Carolina is told from the protagonist, Detective Casey White’s, first-person perspective/ POV. This allows an immersive read in the whodunnit.

Karol Witney is scuba diving in North Carolina’s Outer Banks in the prologue, when the reader witnesses her gruesome death. Even in a murder mystery, this is a bit too detailed. Karol was on a reunion as one of eight sorority sisters.
Detective Casey leads the investigation with her team. She soon realises that this isn’t a drowning as reported. Supported by her technical colleague and husband Jericho, Casey uncovers clues, along with the red herrings that enticingly lead to a satisfying whodunnit. We also meet Casey’s daughter, Tracy.

There are indications that Karol suffered domestic abuse, so that when her husband turns up, he is an immediate suspect. Then another body turns up.
Although the tenth in the series, it is my first by the author. While at times I didn’t understand some relationships or context from earlier books, this didn’t detract from my reading pleasure. I found the characters engaging, the police procedural involving. The associations among some of the characters requires a mild suspension of belief. The novel is page-turning, with twists and turns, and a thrill factor.

Pulse Pounding Thriller In And Out Of The Water. This is one of those coastal murder tales where there is actually quite a bit happening both in and out of the water - and our team is right in the thick of all of it, after a diver dies underwater. With this tenth entry into the series - written loosely enough that if one doesn't mind spoilers about the team's relationships, nothing about (most) of the prior mysteries is spoiled here, meaning it is mostly ok for new fans to start here and work their way back, should they so choose - Spangler actually manages to incorporate a few things not seen in prior books in this series, including a few particular cultural touchstones that it is genuinely surprising that it took him this long to use, given the region he has chosen to set this particular series. And man, when he *does* incorporate them... he almost makes me want to drive up I-95 a few hrs and get to the Outer Banks this weekend myself. Even though I am in no way, shape, or form a diver of any sense involving diving underwater. :D

Overall another solid entry in this series, one where yet again the stakes are raised in so very many ways. Very much recommended.

I was able to read Our Sister's Grave (Detective Casey White Book 10) by B. R. Spangler over the weekend, and it's a good addition to the Detective Casey White series. As the sun rises over North Carolina’s Outer Banks, eight sorority sisters gather on the docks, excited to start their reunion weekend with a diving excursion. But when only seven of them return to the boat alive, Detective Casey White is the first person to investigate. The story had solid and strong female characters.

The prologue had my heart racing and my lungs hurting with the descriptions provided by the author. The story has all the action and suspense you would expect in a detective series. It's good to be back with some familiar characters. I do feel the reasons behind why the murders occurred are being overused, however.

Our Sister's Grave is a story about jealousy and greed. It is a good mystery thriller with some surprising elements.

I would recommend this book and this series.

This is a good read full of mystery, intrigue and suspense. Casey investigates the death of a woman underwater which becomes a murder investigation. I think this is a well written, very descriptive and fast paced book with a good plot line where I felt like I was unwrapping secret after secret that just added to my enjoyment of this read. I really like Casey and her partner Jericho and love the little glimpses the author gives into their home and personal lives. I love being back in Casey's world and following her current investigation and like her character development from the earlier books - she is more well rounded, determined and tenacious in solving her cases. The author portrays his characters, area and settings really well I can picture them in my mind when reading. This read didn't quite wow me - although it is still a good, enjoyable read, I felt it lacked the thrills I usually find in this authors books. I'd still want to read the next book and would recommend this if you're a fan of good, solid police procedurals.

This is book number 10 in the Detective Casey White series. It was a great read and I look forward to catching up on the rest of the series very soon!

Outer Banks, North Carolina is known for its beautiful ocean scenery and people come from all over to enjoy the area. While a group of sorority sisters plan a reunion and enjoy a dive, one of the members won’t be leaving alive.

Detective Casey White receives a call to investigate a suspicious death when a woman dies during an ocean dive. She has a bruise on her ankle – did someone kill her or was her death a tragic accident?

Along with her fiancé, Jericho, Casey will attempt to get to the bottom of the case. She will have to dive herself, as the crime scene is underwater. Will she find any evidence?

The killer doesn’t want them to investigate and targets Casey and her team. Will she be able to solve the case before anyone else becomes a victim?

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

For the 10th time we are visiting the Outer Banks where Casey, Jericho and their team are waiting for us. We are thrown into the deep water, watching how they are trying to solve another thrilling mystery, one that is not without danger to them.

The author treats us to a complex case where greed and the green eyed monster can be found at the base of it.

The more crime books I read, the more I realise that most of our emotions can be a trigger to harm someone. Sometimes it does not even matter whether you love or hate that person. As long as you feel they wronged you in a way, it seems to be enough to act.

The author does not only treat us to a great book, but he adds a bit of history too. Usually that is not my cup of tea, but it fits the story perfectly and that's why I did not mind it at all. On the contrary even. :)

So yes, I liked it a lot and the main characters are becoming even more likeable than they already were. 5 stars

Thank you

Sibling rivalry can be murder, but when a group of a group of 8 sorority sisters meets up for a reunion, the last thing they expect is for that diving excursion to end in the death of one of their number. And the fingerprints on Karol Witney's ankles clearly indicate that this was no accident.

While I have not read other books in the Casey White series before, this latest instalment works quite well as a stand alone novel. The book is entertaining and the plot has some unusual twists.

For a start, how do you solve a killing that is committed underwater? That is the situation that Casey and her boyfriend Jericho find themselves in. And when they go diving for any remnant of evidence, the attack on Jericho makes it clear that the killer is far from done...

This is a well-paced and satisfying murder mystery, with some nice extra touches. It gets 3.5 stars.

The chilling prologue sets the mood for the remainder of this book as the victim drowns. This eerie scene gives me goosebumps just writing about it.

When Detective Casey White is called to the scene of the drowning, she is a little confused as to why she has been called to the scene until she sees a handprint on the ankle of victim. Karol did drown, but it was not an accident. Eight sorority sisters have met for the weekend for a diving excursion, but one will not return. I soon learned that everything was not as it first appeared with this group of ladies. As Casey and company start their investigation, they realize that their lives are in grave danger.

The crime scene is at the bottom of the ocean which means they will have to literally dive into the scene of the crime. When Casey's future husband, Jericho, is attacked underwater and is fighting for his life, we know this is getting serious. Someone is hiding something, and they will kill anyone who gets in their way.

Once again Casey White shines as her character is growing in her personal life. We already know she is a crackerjack investigator. The tension was palpable as the desperate need for justice was evident at all costs. I enjoy all of the characters in this series. The characters mesh well together as a crime fighting team. As always this is a well written police procedural with an interesting plot line that will keep you wanting more.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Eight Sorority sisters meeting up for some fun
But one will be dead before the day is done.
Detective Casey White is called to investigate
Was it an accident - but no, just wait.
Fresh bruises on the victim's ankles show
This was no accident, no, no, no!

What she never expected to discover
Is now she and her team are targets of another.
The killer is out there watching the team
And nothing about the case is quite as it would seem.
With another death the pressures increase
Only when they're caught will it cease.

A riveting read, filled with suspense and twists
Making readers search for clues that could be missed.
A real page turner that keeps you enthralled throughout
As the pieces help relate what it is all about.
Great storytelling, a thrilling case, too,
I've no hesitation highly recommending it to you.

Casey White finds herself trying to figure out how Karol Witney drowned. It clearly wasn't an accident and when Casey's fiance, Jericho, is also attacked, it starts to feel very personal indeed. Then Karol's abusive husband turns up soon after her body is found, not even giving Casey enough time to phone him to let him know what happened, which also raises her suspicions. Why was he not at home, was he following his wife?

Karol's sorority sisters were on the dive with her, so how come none of them saw anything? Too busy posing for pics on Insta, perhaps?

There are lots of things going on, with this case. And Casey, along with her daughter Tracy, must try to untangle all the threads.

4.5 stars from me. I really like the characters in this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving this ARC in exchange my opinion.

This book is a gripping and heart-wrenching thriller that will keep me on the edge of their seats until the very last page. It is well-developed and complex characters. B.R. Spangler does an excellent job of portraying the dynamics between characters. The plot is cleverly crafted, with twists and turns that will leave me guessing until the very end. The pacing is excellent, with just the right amount of tension and suspense to keep me turning the pages. In conclusion, it is a must-read for fans of thrillers and crime fiction. With its well-crafted characters, gripping plot, surely to stay with you long after you've turned the final page. B.R. Spangler has proven to be a talented and promising author, and I can't wait to see what books in store for us next. Highly recommend.

Casey is investigating the death of a woman who drowned during a reunion of eight sorority sisters. Her daughter, Tracy, the forensic investigator is with her.
However, the case is deemed to be murder, not an accident.
Her fiance,Jericho gets involved and is attacked while diving for clues where the woman had dived.

Please, take my advice. Do NOT start reading this book at bed time! I could barely put it down, and read almost 80% of it before my tiredness overcame me!
The characters are believable, the investigation is exciting, and there is non stop action.

There are thrills and spills, love, death, greed and unshakeable friendship.

I highly recommend this book. 5/5 stars from me.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher.

Tragic accident or something more sinister?

Welcome to book 10 in the Detective Casey White series where B.R Spangler serves up yet another great read with the right combination of mystery and continued character development.

When a women dies while scuba diving, the investigation will take Casey and her team in multiple directions. Just when they think they have the puzzle solved, the key suspect, the motive, they discover the pieces don’t fit, and they have to start over. In trying to find a killer the team also come under attack, adding to the mystery. Prepare yourself for a story full of secrets, jealousy and greed.
