Mayet Justice #11

Sinful Obsession

Rate this book
Dead body? Got one of those.
Suspect? Yep.
Weapon? In the kitchen sink.
Means, motive, opportunity, and the vic’s blood on the accused’s hands? Confirmed.

William Alves was a 25-year-old married man and father of two, and while he was dozing in his favorite recliner, sipping a beer between commercial breaks, and his wife and daughters slept in the next room, a killer helped themselves to the Alves’ home and ended a life.

His case should be open and close.
But it all seems a little too obvious.
Too easy.
And nothing in my field of work is easy.

My name is Minka Mayet, and I’m the chief medical examiner in Copeland City.
Fortunately for me, I often land the same cases as my homicide detective husband.

I enjoy working with him.
I enjoy arguing with him more.

But what happens when we’re running a case, and yet, we come to wildly differing conclusions as to who William’s killer is?

Could this be a vigilante murder? Or is something far more sinister going on?

Sinful Obsession is the 11th novel in Emilia Finn's Mayet Justice series and can be read as a standalone.

love Mayet Justice

I have loved this series. I am also a huge fan of this author. I have read everything she has written. This book however I am not sure what to think. I felt like the book drug and that the integrity of some of the characters are taking a nose dive.

Slow Read

This one doesn't flow as well as others in the series and there's too much recapping of past events and of the characters. By book #11 we know what's going on but it's like the author is trying to set each book up as a standalone story rather than be part of a series. My opinion is they definitely need to be read in order and be mindful that they crossover with The Underbelly Enchanted Series.

I just felt like nothing happened…I wish we could get back to the original plot of the vigilante lol it was a cute story as always but felt more like it was promotion for Felix’s books/filler story. Spoilers below:

Why was the house mentioned two books ago and in this one but never touched upon again. Fletch just needs to figure out the Jada shit AND fifi. I’m so bored with the will they won’t they with tim and aubree it’s been what 11 books and they still have not 😅 there was a lot of like half storylines touched upon on this book and I was just disappointed this book was just about a case with little bits of side plot thrown in with no real conclusions

A definite must read series!

This was another complex case for this group, made more difficult due to the circumstances that had occurred prior to the murder. It's going to be an intriguing story.

Some of my most favorite genre's are the mystery, suspense, and thrillers. It's always a bonus if those stories include a romantic aspect. A double bonus is when these books have a strong and assertive female lead character, which lucky for me, this series includes most of the above!
BTW.....who ever made the statement that no one would read a series like this, they were strongly mistaken. There are numerous other series that are not only best-selling series, but they also include a strong female lead character or a couple/partnership who are the main characters for the entire series, most of them in a position of power. I'm thrilled that you decided to write this series, as well as all of your others, as I absolutely love them all! I also truly appreciate you allowing your books to be available in the Kindle Unlimited program. I'm on my 7th series (this one), and I have yet to find one book that I didn't like. I'm looking forward to continue reading more!

I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐎𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 is the 11th book in the Mayet Justice series by Emilia Finn, which chronicles the intriguing cases and spicy romance of Chief Medical Examiner Minka Mayet and her hot, former mafia husband, Detective Archer Malone. This book takes us back to Copeland City for another riveting case that appears to hit close to home. What happens when Minka and Archer don’t agree on a case? You definitely want to read this one to find out!😉 The whole misfit crew of coworkers, friends, and family are back with their hilarious banter and side stories that readers fall in love with almost as must as Minka and Archer! I’m dying for more of Tim and Aubree, Fletch and Fifi, and little Mia who steals scenes! But it’s the bad@$$ery of Minka as a strong woman who carries a series who inspires me. And then there’s Archer, the former playboy who is so in love with his wife, he’s willing to do things that make him squeamish to take care of her!😍 If you haven’t started this series, go back to Sinful Justice, and start at the beginning, so you don’t miss anything! They’re all in KU! Trust me, you’ll be hooked immediately!!

The 11th installment of the Mayet Justice series is just as enjoyable as the first, which is quite an achievement. If it was simply solving crimes, maybe we would be complacent with their stories; but it's not *just* about the crimes: it's about Minka, Archer, Charlie, Moo, Aubree, Tim, Fifi, and lord help us, Cato and how they interact with each other and with other "background" characters. (That "background" is taken loosely as we can never tell when someone might pop to the foreground like the Mayor and *his* family and friends.) We're not just reading about detectives and a medical examiner solving a crime, we're invested in whether Charlie will take a leap with Fifi, whether Tim and Aubree will also take a leap of faith, whether Moo will outgrow hotdogs on a stick, whether everyone's influence on Cato might actually temper his rather "Malone-like" tendencies, and whether Archer will ever tell Minka exactly who owns the land the waterfall sits on. This was a genuinely enjoyable visit to Copeland. I highly recommend this series!

Another great Mayet story! The scene where Archer is afraid to eat was absolutely fantastic and had me laughing out loud! As with most of their investigations, Archer and Fletch work with Minka and Aubree to solve a murder, but this time the case seems cut and dry, until it isn't... or is it? Finn is a master of redirection and writes such layered stories that you don't really know what happened until the very end of the story. Her characters are larger than life and yet so real that they feel like family.

This is part of the ongoing Mayet Justice series featuring the same two main characters and their coworkers, friends and family, so while you could choose to jump in to this story first, you will get a lot more out of it if you start at the beginning. The entire series is in KU so if you are a subscriber, find Sinful Justice and dive in. You absolutely won't be disappointed - this is not the typical medical procedural story.

I hate these books…

Because they are SO good, I devour them in a day and I’m left craving the next installment! 🤣 This one was no different than the others. I love trying to guess the perpetrator as the investigation progresses. And Archer and Minka sure know how to keep each other on their toes and keep their marriage 🌶️.

In the author’s acknowledgements she talks about how she was told this series would not appeal to readers. Boy, she and we readers have proven them wrong! The crime solving provides as much interest and intrigue as the relationship elements. The characters are all so complex, there is always something new to learn about them. I have equally enjoyed the first book in the “spin-off” series and I can’t wait for more of those as well!

This is my obsession

OMG!! Minka is back and I absolutely loved this book! Minka, Archer and the gang is back for another case and hold one because this one hits a little too close to home.

You have to start at the beginning of the Mayet series because it is a Phenomenal Series that will pull you in and keep you coming back for more and more because these characters you just can't get enough of and yes....need more. This is a series that I could binge read and not stop.
Emilia Finn has done it a again!!! We we please please get Tim and Miss Abree there story cuz I just need that ... Cannot wait for more and can this series never end pretty please :)

11 books in and there’s no stopping this train!

The latest instillation of Archer and Minka was full of all the things we have come to expect from the Malone family; humor, passion, indecision, friendship, love and a murder mystery! All Archer wants is a honeymoon and all Minka wants is to prove him wrong and get Fletch & Fifi and Tim & Aubs together! As always the who-Don-it leads us on a mystery chase while the after hours heats up! Amazing job as always and I can’t wait for our next hit of the Malones!

I always enjoy Emilia Finn, and Sinful Obsession was no exception. I love the world she's built in this series. The characters are so quirky and close I wish they were real!!

This was a nice, quick update into the lives of our favorite crime fighting duo. We also get to see a little bit more of the relationships building with our side characters (Fifi and Fletch and Tim and Emery). Just enough to leave you salivating and begging for their stories, with the teaser that they must indeed be coming!

Emilia Finn you are a genius, I’m beyond words. I love how the characters play off each other. I love the banter between Archer and Minka, my heart is broken for Fletch and little Moo and I can’t wait to see where it’s going to go for Fletch and Sera and Tim and Aubree. There are too many woman in the situation Adrianna was in and have no way out. Let these brave woman find a way to be strong and get out. ❤️❤️❤️thank you can’t wait for the next book.

Still Obsessed!

After 11 books in this series you would think the characters would be a little stale and the stories a little meh. You would be wrong!
I could read this series forever. I hope this crazy Copeland group never stops speaking up.
The characters are interesting, a little nutty, a lot awesome. Their interactions are quick and witty and so well written that you get sucked in and invested in the outcome as if they were real people.

Grab it and dive again into this wonderful world!

Minka, Archer and the whole crew have become a family unit that I love to visit. I didn’t see this one ending as it did, and it made my heart thunder as it finally unfolded. Trauma is an unrelenting hit that affects everyone in different ways, and this glimpse was a reminder we never know what shoes someone else is walking in. I’m so excited each time we get to learn more about Copeland and its residents!

phenomenal

I would so enjoying watching this in a Tv series. Hopefully there’s more to come. Love the strong female character only wish Minka kicked ass physically, not just with sass. I mean after all, she is a killer/vigilante. Would love a little more storyline with with these becoming couples Aubree,Tim,Flèche, Fifi and the rest of the Malone crew. Love reading about them alll

Minka and Archer find themselves in constant chaos as the chief medical examiner and detective, but they really do shine together, and despite all of the ugly in their worlds, they have created such a beautiful family of friends and solid marriage that is anything but boring. I’d be happy if this series never, ever, ever ended. Five stars from me!!

Friends

All of Emilia’s characters become friends and I love getting to revisit them time and time again. This series just keeps getting better and I know Minka and Archer will always have stories to tell. Friends sometimes ask me what fictional world I want to join and it’s this one! I would LOVE to work with Minka and Aubs! I can’t wait for the next release in this series.

fav

This is my favorite Mayet book so far! I love the growth on both characters, the spice level was just right in the commitment with each other had me swooning. Like I always say, I want this series to end, because I want to read about the other characters, but at the same time I wanted to continue forever..

Thank you, next!

Another 5 star Mayet Justice book for number 11!! Emilia Finn keeps the action and suspense coming right up to the end. So ready to see Minka and Archer finally get to celebrate their honeymoon in Sinful Summer, although we know these two workaholics and their crew will have a case to be solved.

Emilia does it again…

Once again Emilia gives a a complete package with this next instalment in the Mayet Justice book series.
Bringing to the forefront of the internal right and wrong line, Archer and Minka take you on a journey of justice, even when that is not what you would think.

What can I say, I decided to take my time and space the books out more, maybe build up a back log so I can smash them out, but I only managed to hold out for two books lol
Once again a fantastic book that keeps the story flowing and the characters growing, I must say I didn’t think it would end that way but the ending fits.
I can’t wait to get into the next one.

As always, Minka and Arch are so much fun.

This was another great book in the M.E. and detectives world. Minka's dinner for Archer was hilarious, I loved it. Seeing Fletch, Aubs, Tim and Cato, interacting with everyone is always fun. And I feel like justice was well served in the case.

characteristics

This one was off for me because it was obvious from the beginning of who did it. However the main points of this story was the relationship between the characters. There are many things going on and I believe that this story was needed to let us know that not everything is sunshine and sometimes we need to read about the arguments too.

fabulous story

It is another fabulous story with the whole group - Minka, Archer, Fletcher, Aubree and Tim. Minka hung out with Archer’s work then in her workplace. It was nice to see them work together more. Great story.
