It’s not a bad book & honestly I enjoyed reading it. I’m invested in the characters and look forward to the other books I assume will contain the teammates. & I’m genuinely excited to see how the author grows as a writer. That being said let’s start with my biggest problem, Stella (the daughter) is exclusively referred as a devil & the first time I thought it was a joke with the context but it continues & I don’t understand why. Like the single example is her being a bit mouthy towards her dad’s friends & I don’t think that warrants calling her the devil. Stella being nosy and a bit of a prankster doesn’t scream devil child. I also just dislike how Stella is treated, she brings up multiple valid reasons as to why she feels less important than her brother & while we see promises of change we never see said change. Like I’m sorry you don’t get a gold medal because you didn’t continue to send your daughter to dance when she didn’t like it. Overall I hate that Stella worships Cat (Fmc) because Cat shows her the same respect she shows her brother. I did wish to see more team building but I’m glad we got to see after the team bonded on page. Realistically it was a good read I just found myself wanting more & hating Leo (Mmc) as Stella’s dad. I loved the banter between friends, family, and lovers. I loved the meddling from Stella, I loved seeing the team dynamics off the ice but again wish we saw more of that. I absolutely loved that they both communicated and asked each other for help, it was a very healthy relationship I just wish Leo cared about Stella the same way he cared about everyone else.
This is book 2 in the series, but is a standalone and even though you see characters from the previous book, it's not necessary to have read it first. I liked Leo and Cat in the previous book, so I was looking forward to getting to know them better. I could relate to Cat and her hyperindependence. The conflicts in this book were realistic (aging grandparent with early dementia) and felt like challenges a couple like Cat and Leo could overcome and be partners to one another.
I had to laugh when Cat has a severe allergic reaction because she ate a red velvet cupcake (she thinks about how amazing it tastes just before she starts swelling) not realizing they're made with cocoa.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Perfect Snipes is the second book in the Hartford Minotaurs Hockey series. This is a sweet, delightful, emotional, spicy, sexy, and at times humorous story about Catharina "Cat" Alonso and Leo Hartman. They meet when he hires her to be his live-in nanny to his kids. She is a teacher who's apartment was incinerated in a fire. His nanny just quit leaving him in a real bind. When her friend and his teammate puts them in touch with each other it seems like the perfect arrangement. That is until it starts to get complicated and those dreaded feelings start to get involved. This book is a wonderful read and I can't wait for the next in this series. The Minotaur men are great on and off the ice.
The connection between Leo and Cat is undeniable however that critical depth that really allures you in to cheer for their HEA was missing.
So many details were left out that could have easily been written, ie: Mason and Stella's ages, more bsckground on his marriage and being a widow, the dynamic of Leo's parents , especially since we know how and why Cat has such a love for her grandmother.
The supporting characters definitely helped to lift this to 3 star rating.
Good enough of a read, just enough to keep you wanting to see how it turned out.
"The Perfect Snipe" by Paris Wynters is a heartwarming read! Leo, a single dad balancing work and parenthood, finds love and support in Cat, a teacher who helps him with nannying. Leo's journey is relatable and inspiring, and the chemistry between him and Cat adds warmth to the story.
Rosa, Cat's grandma, absolutely steals the show whenever she's around. Her character brings so much charm and life to the plot. The book beautifully handles the theme of a working single parent, making it both touching and real.
I'm hopeful to see more stories from this hockey team in future books. If you enjoy romance with genuine characters and real-life challenges, "The Perfect Snipe" is a must-read!
So good! I have read another novel by this author and really enjoyed it. This novel did not disappoint. I love a good sports(hockey) novel and throw in a nanny love story and you can count me in. From the first chapter this novel grabbed ahold of my attention and held on tight. I loved Cat and Leo. I loved their chemistry. I loved watching them both lower their defenses and fall in love. Once I started reading I did not want to put this novel down, I needed to know what was coming next. I can't wait to see what this author has coming next.
Oooooo, I do hope we get some more books in this series. I've been devouring these!
And like I already thought after the first book. I really really like Cat and Leo. Cat's foul mouth and fiery energy in contrast to Leo's grumphy stoic yet protective behaviour is just delicious. Their chemestry is of the charts!!!!
Al though I did notice some inconsistenties, they didn't bother me as much as the time gaps in the first book did. Also, there were no gaps here.
Never knew how intense the game itself felt until now. Reading these Hokey-Romances has made me want to see a real game.
Grumpy/sunshine, nanny/single dad, hockey player for the hat trick
Hockey is everything to Leo Hartman until Cat Alonso steps up to become his nanny. Suddenly his single mindedness is shattered. Sexy, emotionally satisfying, with kids and a beloved abuela who almost steal the show, book 2 of the Hartford’s Minotaurs is one not to miss.
Losing someone to death sucks. It makes you question if you should risk your heart again. Leo and Cat struggle to allow others to help them. He's grumpy, she's used to doing it alone. Throw in two kids, a grandma who interferes, a new hockey team finding it hard to come together, and you've got a lot of stress. However, lust and attraction can do a lot.
This is shaping up to be an amazing series and I can't wait to see who's story is next. I loved the fire of Cat vs the the steadiness of Leo and was truly obsessed with the way the children reflected both their personalities. Can't wait for book 3 and to see which player is out to find true love next
Ehhhh, honestly I struggled to figure out how old the children were. Like I thought the daughter was young, like 4 and then they’re talking about cross fit for her
