Waiting for Christmas

Unwrap a hot holiday romance.

How long has he been waiting?

His whole life. That’s how long Wyatt Roth feels like he has been waiting for Christmas “Christy” Sharpe to realize she’s meant to be with him. But gorgeous and vivacious Christy has always seen him as just her little brother’s best friend. One ridiculous year—he’s only younger than her by one year—and doesn’t she get that he’s grown up? He’s a doctor, part of an elite special operations surgical team—a team that has been trained in medicine and in military battle. There is no fight he can’t win. He won’t give up on her.

She’s home for the holidays…but running scared.

The last thing he expects is to find a terrified Christy on his doorstep just days before Christmas. But a stalker has sent her running to the only place she has a safe haven. Wyatt takes her in and vows to protect her. No one will be hurting Christy on his watch. And with her finally under his roof—finally staying close 24/7—he can show Christy that he’s been there for her all along.

Right. There. Waiting.

When did Wyatt Roth get so big? So dangerous? So…insanely sexy with all of his muscles and that tempting grin? Christy can’t believe it when the tall, hot doc answers the door and immediately vows to protect her. She has an ex who won’t let go, and the guy has been scaring her so badly that she had to rush away in the middle of the night. But now Wyatt is promising to keep her safe, the magic of the holiday season is surrounding her, and when she finds herself sharing a passionate kiss with Wyatt under the mistletoe Christy realizes…

Maybe what she’s wanted her whole life has been right in front of her.

What happens when the boy you knew grows into a rugged, too sexy to be true man? A man who has deadly skills, wicked wit, and an amazing kissing ability? During the magic of the holidays, anything can happen. But you have to be careful, because danger is always close, and the thing you want most in the world…just might be lost in the blink of an eye.

Time for some holly, jolly romance…with a side dose of suspense. WAITING FOR CHRISTMAS is a hot holiday novella designed to get you in the ho-ho-ho spirit. Fall in love, get your heart racing, and prepare to be both naughty and nice as you sink into the story.

Wow! That was awesome. I love a good Christmas read and they are hard to find. This was good and sweet and steamy and well written. I’m picky about novellas and this didn’t disappoint. Wyatt was sexy and fiercely committed to her. It was awesome. Christmas was lovely and I’m still smiling. Loved the intimacy and kisses. But besides this being a great romance it also had a great story plot. I was hanging on every word and I loved the ending.
I recommend this book!

This story opens up with Christy banging on Wyatt’s door in the middle of the night. He’s been her little brother’s best friend since they were kids. But Wyatt’s all grown up now. And they’re only a year apart anyway. Maybe it’s time she stopped seeing him as her younger brother’s best friend and instead as a man.

Christy has had some scary incidents happen in her home, and an ex who can’t take no for an answer. So after the most recent break in, she’s come back to her hometown, but her brother is out of the country. She doesn’t want to be alone, so she runs to Wyatt.

Wyatt thinks he’s dreaming when she wakes him in the middle of the night. But he isn’t, and not only is Christy very real, she’s in very real danger. But Wyatt is just the person for her to run to, because not only is he someone she knows and can trust, one thing she doesn’t know is that while he is a doctor, he was also a doctor on a Special Forces team and he’s got a lot of deadly skills. When her stalker shows up, slashes her tires, and tries to kill her all in the same day, Wyatt is less than thrilled. So when he can subdue the guy, he does. But it all feels a little too neat for him. But Christy feels safe for the first time in a long time, so he isn’t going to ruin that with his doubts. Besides, Christy’s brother Forth, and his best friend, has just landed and now Wyatt has more on his plate. Like telling his best friend he’s in love with his sister.

In true Cynthia Eden fashion, this book has it all. This is one of her lighter Romantic Suspenses, and it holds true to the genre, cute cartoon cover and all. Wyatt is a fantastic hero who knows exactly how to keep his woman safe. Christy is one of the best kinds of heroines-those who are just as protective of their hero as he is of them, and she doesn’t do anything dumb! I love a smart heroine!

One thing, I felt that Wyatt’s team could have been utilized more. The peak climax also felt a little rushed. This author is amazing at what she does, and usually has a bit more action. However this is a quick read, so it may just have been the fact that I was turning pages very quickly to get to the next! I really enjoyed this story, and plan on re-reading it soon, since I’m still kind of living in that world right now.

Oh, and I truly feel you could read this book at any point in the year, not just the Christmas season, so if you’re in the mood for a sexy Romantic Suspense, go for it!

I loved Wyatt! The fact that he had had a thing for Christy for years added a dash of anticipation to the current situation he finds himself in with her. I loved his thoughts and fantasies as they ran rampant when face to face with her. But when he realizes she is in danger, his basic instincts kick in in a whole different manner. He’s there to protect her and, holy mistletoe, did he take his job to do so seriously!

This is a shorter read but has all the feels of a longer story. The characters are well developed and I found myself completely invested in their building relationship. There is a sprinkling of danger and drama that unraveled in an unexpected way. And I loved the various ways the holiday season played a part in Christy and Wyatt’s steamy interactions.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨✨ (4.5/5)

Song: Man I Need by Olivia Dean

“Still want to be just friends? Yeah, me neither.” ❤️

This one gets right into it. Wyatt has been crushing on his best friend’s older sister since they were kids and when she shows up on his doorstep trying to get away from a creeper he has no qualms about letting her know…despite trying to contain himself and his *cough cough* 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵. 🍆 Let’s just say he’s for SURE grown UP! He’s coming in hot!

This one was a delight. I enjoyed it from start to finish.

What to expect…

🎄A Stalker

Wyatt Roth has been in love with his best friends sister for years. When she comes to him for help he finally has his chance.

He was shaking his head because…Is Christy really here? On my doorstep?

Christmas “Christy” Sharpe has a stalker. She comes to her hometown to get away.

She’d been half delirious the previous night. So…so he’d maybe looked like some awesome Greek god come to life.

There is some serious suspense and as always a alpha protector ready to do anything for the women he loves. A quick Christmas short you won’t want to miss.

Have a holly jolly Christmas with this cute short seasonal story . Plenty of ho ho ho with spice and even mistletoe ! Add in the possibility of naked snow angels ( trust me it could be a thing ) and this was just perfect to get me in the mood for Christmas . Wyatt was such a revelation and his bedside manner definitely didn’t need any work yep I’m waggling my eyebrows here ! Christy might have been blinkered about him before but with trouble dogging her footsteps she certainly went to the right door . Short admittedly but I don’t feel shortchanged so happily recommend this festive romance

Hilariously, this had absolutely nothing to do with Christmas and didn’t really give the Christmas vibes I was going for. I also couldn’t handle how many times the FMC needed to be told what a badass the MMC was. WE GET IT.

Thanks to NetGalley & Hocus Pocus Publishing for providing an eARC!

This was my own fault really, I see Christmas Romance and I hop into it without any other thoughts. And saying Hot Holiday Romance?? I was sold.

Waiting for Christmas is a holiday romance novella that also manages to cram doctor romance, special operatives romance, "brother's best friend" trope, and a stalker plot all into less than 200 pages. So, if you like darker romances and want something for the holiday season, then maybe this is for you.

I really prefer to see the building of a relationship, and unfortunately that can't really be delivered in a novella trying to do so many other things.

I have never read a Christmas novella before, but this was just what I needed to mindlessly unwind at the end of the day. It had all the drama, all the alpha male “touch her and die” vibes and let’s not forget, all of the spiccccce. I am a total sucker for a little “my best friends sister” and I appreciated the MMC and the MFC having a history and knowing each other before off paper. It kept it from being the usual insta love found in many novellas, which really added to the story!

There was definitely a lot of action packed into those 100+ pages and honestly, I was living for it. I think there definitely needs to be more Christmas “short stories” like this one. (Are there already? Am I missing out?) Either way, I was a big fan!

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️.5

Heather's Notes
So the synopsis is almost longer than the book. However, I did like the story. It was a sweet holiday read. Of course I am reading it in February and not December but it still made me feel good. I liked the plot and the character. CE can be hit or miss for me but this was definitely a hit.

There is nothing better than a Cynthia Eden hero. I have to admit that whenever I see a new book of hers, I get so excited. Add in the fact that it's a Christmas story and you all know that I'm jumping for joy.

Waiting for Christmas starts off strong and keeps going till the end of the story. Just when you think you know where the story is going you have to wonder. I so enjoyed both Wyatt and Christy. I liked how that he's been in love with her for a long time. I would say I wish he acted sooner but I think it was all meant to be.

It was nice to have Wyatt be a doctor not someone who is a bodyguard or works for the government. You learn quickly that there is more to him then you first think. He's strong enough to protect Christy but also smart enough to know that she's a strong woman that's been independent for a long time and not used to leaning on someone.

I understood why Christy left town after the death of her parents and felt the need to be on her own even though she left her brother behind. It's only happenstance that she ends up at Wyatt's when it turns out her brother isn't home and she's in need of a safe place to stay.

They mystery and the storyline are really good and is fast paced. It kept me in the story, and I didn't want to put it down. Easily a one day read. There are a few characters that I'm hoping we learn more about. They need their own stories.

Christy (Christmas) is in trouble and flees to her hometown to escape an increasingly dangerous stalker, who after destroying her art and trashing her apartment, is escalating towards injuring Christy. Enter stage left, Wyatt, best friend of Forth, Christy's younger brother and Wyatt is ready to step up and protect Christy in order to fulfill his lifelong dream.
The good:
-It's a short story and less sappy than the traditional Christmas romance offerings. To reiterate, it's short and so readers enter the relationship at a point in time - so there's no long build up in the romance.
-All the characters are likeable, and the author does a good job of showing rather than explaining every detail of their past connections.
The not so good:
-The characters are pretty stereotypical if you've read the author's past work. Wyatt is a physician with mad fighting skills and battlefield experience. Yes, tall, dark and handsome. Christy is 'delicate'.
-Suspend disbelief on many fronts....accept that there is longstanding interest between the lead characters, that Wyatt's protectiveness is 'cute' and not creepy, and that the bad guy so readily escapes the police and private investigator's efforts to trap him.
Overall, it's a light, action packed short story with spice. Readers who are into escapism romance and don't mind a bit of cave man protectiveness will enjoy this book for what it is.

A somewhat shorter holiday read, but still packed with everything you want including hot romance, action, engaging characters, humor and a story that will keep you wondering what’s next? Christmas “Christy” Sharpe arrives at her long-time friend Dr. Wyatt Roth’s home. She is on the run from an obsessed man, who she briefly dated, and believes he broke into her home. She is scared! Wyatt is shocked when Christy arrives at his home and enraged when he finds out what has happened to her. He will call in some favors and eliminate the threat. Christy, along with her brother Forth, have been his friends for years, but she has always wished for more with Wyatt. He has also wanted to be more than friends with Christy, but has accepted any relationship with her. Now he doesn’t hesitate to let her know how deep his feelings are for her. He doesn’t know how Forth will take this change in their relationship, but she is his. He is not only a surgeon, but a member of SOST, a Special Ops Surgical Team and is more than capable of protecting her, even with his life. I voluntarily reviewed "WAITING FOR CHRISTMAS"
I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful, intense, intriguing Christmas romance, with a stalker ex, fear, danger, miscomunication, emotional turmoil, humor, steam, action, it's hooks you to the end.
Wyatt Roth is a doctor, part of an elite operation surgical team trained in surgical & military battle, he's been waiting for Christmas aka Christy his BF Forth Sharpe's sister to see him as something more than a little brother he's a year younger.
Christy shows up at Wyatt's door full of fear her ex is stalking her won't let her go he takes her in telling her he'll protect her, she's there 24/7 when they eventually kiss its everything to both of them he's been right there in front of her this whole time.
I definitely recommend to get this interesting story Wyatt & Christy are so perfect together, will he be able to save her from her horrible ex, will they finally get the HEA he's been waiting for what seemed like forever, it's a must read you don't want to miss, you so won't be disappointed.
ANOTHER PHENOMINAL STORY BY THIS VERY TALENTED WRITER I LOVED IT 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤

This book is like a spicy lifetime Christmas movie.
This was a very quick read easily done in a couple hours and I really enjoyed it! The characters were great (Wyatt was my personal favorite). I don’t think I’ve read a book with a doctor that was special ops and I think it worked well for this story. I enjoyed the suspense a lot I kinda knew where the story was going but I was still surprised a long the way. It was also refreshing to have a brother that wasn’t mad for too long once he realized how serious they were about each other. I think the story was the perfect length and I was invested the whole time. I think the pacing was great. I do wish we had a little bit more relationship building or more details on their past because it definitely gave instalove vibes (nothing wrong with that) I would’ve just liked to see what made them fall for each other. Overall I enjoyed the book and would definitely recommend it to anyone that wants a quick Christmas read!

I really enjoyed this! This being only my 2nd holiday romance book I felt this certainly delievered on it being a HOT holiday romance 👌🏻❤️

It didn’t waste any time, it didn’t feel rushed for it being a novella and it had great spice! 😏. Not only that, the plot was really good too! Some twists and turns and intense moments in the mix. I was invested right from the start and I thourougly enjoyed myself. ✨

I loved Wyatt and Christy (aka Christmas). The love Wyatt had for her was beautiful. He was one hell of a hero too, he was loyal, devoted, protective and SEXY 🥵…I just wish I was Christy rn, she’s so lucky 🤭.

Overall I’d give this 4.5/5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨- not quite a 5 and the reason for that was the ending felt a teeny tiny bit rushed?! but everything else was great. And if I’m to be picky? Maybe the cover could’ve been better but it nails the Christmas theme.👌🏻😅

Waiting For Christmas is a holiday story written in classic Cynthis Eden style. Perhaps a bit more lighthearted than some books written by Ms Eden but like them in many ways. There is the damsel in distress but not necessarily hopeless, more in over her heard. A true alpha man in this case a surgeon who is also part of a Special Operations Surgical Team. He has the medical training along with the combat training too.

A fun story where best friend’s older by one year sister realizes little friend is not so little anymore. A whole scene on that part which is pretty funny if the heroine wasn’t scared of the danger following her. Danger which is part of the mystery, wide open door bedroom door scenes and friends who have your back when push comes to shove are all there too. All within a Christmas story. Enjoy the novella today.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Christy Sharpe has come home for the holidays, but not of her own free will, she is the sights of a stalker and when her brother is not home, she runs to the only person she who can protect her, Wyatt Roth, who was always like another brother, until he wasn't because the feelings she is having for him are not brotherly. He will protect her with his life, but who is going to protect him from Christy, because he has been in love with her for a long time and she is going to steal his heart.
This book takes place at Christmas and when these two got from friends to lovers, it's going to melt the decertations on the Christmas tree.

This book is sure to melt your heart and the snow.... I loved this book, it was sexy and spicy and sweet all at the same time. Just what you want in a hot holiday romance.

Eh, it was ok. Honestly, I feel kind of icky now that I’ve finished it.

The FMC’s name is Christmas (Chrissy). Because she was born on Christmas Eve. Her brother is Forth. Because he was born on the Fourth of July. Seriously, I can’t make this shit up. Really, REALLY cheesy.

I feel like MMC, Wyatt, threw up red flag after red flag. I just didn't like him. He was too protective & alpha. In a creepy way. Maybe it’s because this is a novella & there wasn’t time to develop the characters as much. Or maybe it’s because there was minimal back story. I don’t know. The romance just felt…ill-timed & wrong. Very rushed, forced & love bomb-ey. Chrissy was being stalked for god’s sake! And Wyatt was all like “I’ll protect you! Oh, and by the way, I love you & have loved you since we were kids.”. And although she’s supposed to be terrified of her stalker, Chrissy is all like “Huh, I guess I’ve loved you since we were kids too! I just didn’t know it.”. blerg.

The suspense part was pretty predictable. Nothing shocked me in the least. The steamy parts were cringy. Yeah…nope. This one just didn’t do it for me. Felt like a bad Lifetime movie.

I almost DNF’d this, but I’m not a quitter. I powered through. And now I kind of want my 3 hours back.

Waiting for Christmas is a lot of things, it's a holiday romance but it also manage to cram in so many other tropes in it's less than 200 pages. Such as special operatives romance, brothers best friend, younger male older female, stalker plot and doctors romance.
If you are after a sweet holiday romance this is a bit more darker than that but if you want a pretty well written spicy holiday romance book this might be for you.

Sadly I prefer to see a build up in the relationship between the characters and this is hard to deliver on in a novella most of the times and in this one since it's going for so many things at ones it's even harder.

I don't regret reading it but I won't reread it any time soon.

I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Waiting For Christmas through Net Galley . I really enjoyed reading this story . It's full of suspense and sexy , smoking moments .
Wyatt Roth has been in love with his best friend's sister Christmas "Christy " Sharpe since he was a teenager . Wyatt is sure he's dreaming when around 1:00 am she comes knocking at his door . Unfortunately she's not there for a booty call she is scared and needs his protection . Things soon amp up both with their feelings and the danger . Wyatt will do anything to protect the women he loves even if it's giving up his life . This story is full of suspense romance and intrigue . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

So you want me to believe that Wyatt telling Christy he’s wanted her for years (wanted, not liked or loved) the minute she shows up on his doorstep afraid of her stalker ex, telling her all the things he knows about her from watching her for years, his constant growling possessiveness, his thoughts that he wants to lock her up to keep her “safe,” and saying that she shouldn’t be kissing anyone but him, and threatening to kill/seriously injure anyone who looks at her (lustfully or not) is NOT a massive red flag? Especially in comparison to Christy’s stalker ex? Wyatt’s crazy possessive tendencies are supposed to be dreamy and romantic while the ex is just crazy? I don’t buy it. There were too many similarities between the two for me to think that Wyatt is some kind of romantic hero.

Waiting for Christmas is a fast-paced, novella-length standalone. A wonderful gift of a book which has everything I love in a holiday-themed story: wonderful characters, family, friends, heat, both sugar and spice, the trappings and feels of the season and a fitting HEA. Of course, the author being who she is, there's an added element of danger and suspense, which adds to the pace and had my pulse spiking and the adrenaline flowing. A great addition to my keeper shelf and I can only hope that the mainy awesome side characters will get their own happy endings!
I was fortunate to have received an advanced copy through Netgalley and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.

When an obsessed man frightens Christy one too many times she flees to her home town to find her brother is out of the country. Thankfully his best friend lives next door.

When Christy shows up on Wyatt Roth's porch in the middle of the night it's obvious she's terrified. He's been half in love with his best friend's sister for years but never crossed that line. Now, it's time that all changed because Wyatt will go to any length to protect Christy, and he intends her to know exactly how he feels.

Besides her brother, Wyatt is the only other person Christy trusts implicitly. But can she trust her heart to the man she has feelings for?

I received an ARC and freely offer this review.

Christmas came early...in the form of Wyatt

Ack! I got an early Christmas present this year in the smokin' hot, utterly delectable Wyatt. He's a doctor, a soldier, and has been crushing on Christy (Christmas) his best firends sister, since he was fifteen and she was sixteen. Though he is only a year younger than Christy, she never noticed Wyatt has all grown up in the very best ways. He's dedicated to Christy, protective, totally in love with her and would do and does do anything and everything for her. I want a Wyatt under the Christmas tree, pretty please.

Loved this break neck paced novella, that is sweet, funny and super steamy with a light dollap of suspense.
Highly recommend.

Such a fun, cute novella to get me in the mood for the Holidays!!! I loved how we got so much action (the fighting kind and the steamy kind) in a perfect 150 page package. Wyatt, the ex-military swoon bucket, was super dreamy and I loved him and his sappy little heart so much. Christy, the object of Wyatt's teenage heart eyes, was a strong and tenacious heroine who was reluctant to fall for her little brother's best friend- but the heart wants what it wants!

I'm so glad I grabbed this and read it during a rough time because it did nothing but entertain and bring joy! Definitely pick it up and give it a read.
