What’s worse than a pink pixie living all alone in the Big City, eight thousand miles away from home?
A pink pixie who’s stuck behind a desk all day, taking calls and managing monster-fighting crews without ever seeing the light of day herself. That’s what.
For two years, I worked my ass off to prove myself to my boss, and prayed for a chance to do thework I left my family behind for.
And I’m finally about to catch my break. I’ve got a mission, a real mission, and an undercover one at that. It’s like the gates of Haven have opened for me—right before I’m pushed off the clouds and thrown all the way down to Hell again.
Because Dominic Dane is going to be my partner. That self absorbed, narcissistic werewolf who humiliated me in front of all my coworkers on day one, and loves to pretend that I don’t even exist.
It’s bad enough that he tried to kick me out of my mission. It’s even worse that he’s sinfully hot and fries braincells with a single look of those gorgeous green eyes. Such a waste of beauty on that guy.
Now, on top of having to kick ass on my first mission, I have to pretend to be his girlfriend for three days, and keep my ridiculous attraction to him under control, too. So much for catching a break.
Lucky for me, I’ve got a secret weapon that’s going to help me handle Dominic Dane, and it’s God’s best gift to chocolate. Armed with as many bars as my purse can fit, and with my wits about me, I’m going to survive the gorgeous wolf-ass one way or the other—and win.
Doormat FMCs are not my thing. Teddy would start to stick up for herself only to immediately crumble the next second. She never stayed mad when she should have. I hate, with a burning passion, when authors write FMCs who turn weak and stupid just because they get turned on. And that seems to be a ridiculously popular way of writing that is akin to nails on a chalkboard to me.
The overall plot was mid, and felt very rushed at the end.
I might still give the next book a try to see if it gets better. But this one was a pretty underwhelming start to the series.
I enjoyed this writing style and story - I wasn’t guessing or predicting what came next. I loved the cliff hanger that also felt like it completed the over-arching theme of the 1st book.
Loved all the fae/fantasy creatures mentioned and how “we humans” don’t know about them. Loved that she’s small and pink. This would be a “Barbara book.” IYKYK😉
I will continue this series; I do recommend it; I will be buying a physical copy (hopefully in an omnibus format).
DNF at 55%. It was too stupid for words. There was literally NOTHING of substance to either character, really. But especially the MMC. I don’t care what ‘revelations’ might have come later. All we had was a horny FMC with zero self-respect. Plus the plot was so pathetic and just not interesting or plausible. I have better books to read than this.
Genius! Such an original and awesome story. It had great characters, dialogue and spice! I love the agency/undercover idea/world-building of the book, justso freaking cool! This doesn't have a HEA, but it does tease the idea of one in the future/next books. Which I can't wait to start now! 💯❤️🤓
I really liked it in the beginning but the case they were working on didn’t make any sense to me. I liked that there was more to the plot than just the romance however. I didn’t like the ending. I know there are two more books in the series but now it’s like we have to start all over again.
Teddy a pink pixie becomes a detective and falls for the biggest wolf, Dominic Dane, out in the field. Well written, enjoyable, a little vanilla spice.
