The last time fairy princess Nineva Morrow engaged in magic, evil forces rendered her an orphan-isolated and incapable of trusting in anyone's survival. But after years of hiding on Earth, she'll use her powers once more-and attract more knights than she can handle
4.5 Stars I might be a little biased on this one as frankly I just love Kel. I've wanted him to have his happily ever after for awhile now. On top of that I did like Nineva. Sure she's a bit of too willing to do what she thinks is inevitable to save her goddess, likely resulting in her own painful death. But, she still had spunk and wasn't going to go down without a fight.
The whole must have sex to power the goddess trope isn't my favorite and it knocks this down a little for me, but at the same time it's too be expected really knowing this series. The whole series borders on the edge of erotica and sex is a powerful connection point for all of these characters.
I did enjoy Kel finally getting to get some of his own back with the dragons. He's been an outcast there for so long and now there dragon god is on his side. Sure, none of them have to like it, but he's the good guy and they can suck it. ;)
All in all I enjoyed this as an addition to this series.
I just finished Master of Dragons and have mixed feelings about it. The beginning was good and moved at a decent pace, but then it just started to drag. Something started to be repetitive, while others just felt like empty filler.
It may be just me, but I don’t like it when a story deviates from the main characters and here’s why; I’m not interested in what the other characters think or feel, I don’t need a side story that could have been left out and not been missed.
The story is about Nineva, who is prophesied to one day free a goddess trapped in a sword. She grew up believing, and accepting that she would die to free the goddess. But the goddess must be strengthened first and, because she’s a fertility goddess, Nineva must have sex to do it. But not with just anyone, with Kel, a dragon from her nightmares.
Kel and Nineva must hump like bunnies to feed the goddess and free her. This is where I get a little disconnected. Storylines where the characters must screw, in order to save the world, just weird me out. You might like it though.
So they have sex a lot, and then fly off to elicit the help of dragons who hate Kel, and really, really hate things that walk on two legs. So easy peasy right? Of course not. We are led through a long scene where Kel and Nineva try to convince the dragons to help, which could have been much shorter in my opinion.
Eventually the dragons help, because someone stole the magical egg that power their god. O_o Anyhew, by this time I’m getting a little bored with the whole plot, and it’s supposed to be the best part—Nineva and Kel are falling madly in love, despite the turmoil happening all around them, I just had a hard time losing myself in the story.
Consider this a review for the entire Mageverse series by Angela Knight: This is a very fun, sexy, romantic and silly series of books where vampires, werewolves and witches are the good guys, all created by Merlin and Nimue to be guardians of the human race to help ensure that our fledgling race doesn't destroy itself before reaching maturity. If you like knights of the Round Table, magic, whirlwind romance between perfectly gorgeous people, and erotic love scenes, you'll like these books. This is not serious literature, thank goodness! Just for fun, and fun they are.
This book pushed all my buttons, but not the good ones. I didn't expect deep and lit-crowny goodness but this was the first book in a long time I wanted to hurl against the nearest wall. Which is hard to do with an e-book. If you can't stomach (fullfilled) quasi-religious fanatism then don't touch this book! Issue 1: Daddy dearest is a Sidhe, hunted by his evil brother the king and subject to a prophesy, which he wants to fullfill with fanatical, religious faith. His goddess commands, he follows. That means breeding a lot of kids until number 21 and then grooming her to sacrifice herself even if that means being burned alive. His other wifes and kids get murdered, but hey, that's too bad and not worth a lot of grief or fighting back until number 21 comes along she has to survive to adulthood so she can die too. And nobody but Kel, the hero, is really disturbed by all that shit and even he doesn't do much about it apart from one or two thoughts abour how wrong that is. Issue 2: Brainwashed Heroine followes the required path. Fucking a stranger who she knows will fry her in the near future, to feed her goddess, within a few hours of meeting him? OK, let's do it at least he's hunky, no problem, the orgasms are great. Boah, uncle looks like Daddy, sniff, let's throw caution in the wind and do what he wants, forget all the agonizing and mistrust! Nearly every decision she makes is based on the prophesy, not common sense. Issue 3: enough plotholes to make swiss cheese proud and the whole mess is resolved by deus ex machina because divine intervention is the only thing that could. Now I'm going to delet that book from my e-reader and my hard drive both and read something else to erase it from my brain.

I absolutely adored it! I loved the jokes, the sarcasm, the erotic loves scenes... everything.
The way Knight describes the characters in animal for brings a clear picture in your head. And the scenery must be absolutely beautiful... Too bad neither are real!
I really liked Nineva. With words, you understand how she feels, what she feels and why she feels it. Kel may not understand it at first, but when he does, everything clicks.
And Kel... *sigh* to bad he's just a figment of Knight's imagination. Now there's a 'dragon' I'd love to spend time with.
The fight scenes... you feel like you're there! And they way the characters interact with one another is no different from an everyday thing - just like the way we interact with others.
Really a 4.5. I'm an Angela Knight fan and love her Mageverse setting. Nineva and Kel's story is well worth reading if you're familiar with the Mageverse series.
If you're not, I'd go back to the first book and read that, as a lot of the setting material, the background information, builds through the earlier books.
Why the loss of a half star if I'm such a fan? I just didn't quite enjoy this one as much as I've enjoyed others, but I couldn't tell you why. I've wracked my brains trying to pin point it and the closest I can work out is that the sex magic as a major plot element felt 'wrong'.
Love, love, love this series. Dragons, princess, faires, vampires, witches. What more could you ask for? The heros are heroic. The princess are brave and willing to fight to the death - I can't stand stories where the women swoon and wait for the men to take care of them.
Kel is a beautiful dragon with a problem, Nineva is a fairy princess with a problem. Together they save the world and each other.
There’s a little deep seated misogyny (only men get to be jealous), some serious consent issues, and some of the sex scene descriptions are cringeworthy (sweetly brutal?). The rich story and thread of humor holds it together well, however.
If the divine being that chose you demands magical energies from your sexual activities is that a threesome, prostitution, or an act of devotion? I think that arrangement deserved a more through consideration.
Nineva, a fairy princess, is the prophesized savior of the Goddess Semira who has been enspelled into a sword. This is an epic tale of heros and heroines with Kel, the dragon, aiding Niveva in her protection of the sidhe realm from the Dark Ones who are trying to invade and to use their death magic to kill the human earth. Fast action and a lot of romance fill the pages.
Continuing saga of Mageverse, with some new characters, and both hero and heroine trying to come to grips with their heritage. The are both hot for each other, and feelings burn the sheets (when they use a bed.) And watching them try to save the world without sacrificing each other has you rooting for them.
Amazing book. The only thing that pulled me out of the story was a slave having so much power. Maybe that would have been explained if I hadn't jumped into this series at book eight? Lots of hot steamy sex that was that was cleverly structured by the plot so it was needed. I'll be reading more by this author (4.75/5)
Imagine being hunted all your life and having nightmares about what is expected of you. To have a Dragon breath his fire on you so your goddess can live. Now think how you would feel if you were to take tat dragon for your lover and fall in love with him knowing he is going to breath his fire on you and you are going to die to all of mankind would you do it?
Okay talk about your dragons in this book. A must read for any and all paranormal lovers everywhere. Ninevena morrow is a woman who is destined to free her goddess from a sword. Kel is a blue dragon sent by the god of dragons to keep her safe. Plus he happens to be a knight in the court of Arthur. A great addition to this series.
This story is about princess with powers and is in hiding form those that killed her parents. A dragon knight comes to save her but she is afraid of him and runs. Finally she realises that he is there to help her. Then they fight together to save their world from the Dark Ones.
Such a cute pairing! I <3 Kel, hehe :P But besides that the story line was very good, and the action didnt drag at all :) I finished it in about 4 hours flat. Didnt stop once i picked it up :) Awesome.
Kel the shapeshifting dragon is one of my favorite characters in this series, and I was very happy that he was the male lead in this book, which didn't disappoint. :)
I wanted to like the book but there was far too much sex and not enough to really make me cheer on the protagonists. Added to that, Nineva getting the dreams about a dragon killing her and being turned at 17 just really turned me off. She's on the run for 12 years and supposed to trust Kel from jump, even with him knowing her family back story. It just felt way too paint-by-the-colors. Sad about that.
Not to mention a convenient plot point of sex for the greater good and magical truebond in a week. A bond that is superficial at best since they barely talked. Mostly they fought, screwed, or minor plotted with the bigger powers. Nineva is a princess on the run because the now-dead king killed her father and mother when she tried to save a dog at 17. That's a great starting out point! That intrigued me. And her helping the little girl with cancer, to try and cure it, really made me want to root for her.
But that was short lived once Kel showed up. Semira, the trapped goddess, was integral in fighting off The Dark ones but there was little connection on *why* Nineva had to be the avatar to free the goddess. It was an empty line that never really delved into the relationship between the two women. Except the sharing of sex since that's all a fertility goddess is good for.
Kel is a Dragon who prefers to live with the 'humankind,' the other magical creatures that are not Dragons. I wanted to know more about him. Yet the story didn't set him up as a major point at all. He was mostly a gentrified Fabio: a cardboard Knight that makes her ooh and ahh at the right time.
Give more background, more to really feed into why he was chosen to a Knight. Convince the reader that he's a good match for Nineva, a fairy princess in peril who can perfectly patrol and fight. But there's nothing there beyond a grump alpha male prototype. Other than the obvious fall in love quickly because she's a warrior. Okay, but what else is there to her? Beyond the lashing 'martyr' statements at her whenever she accepts what the prophecy foretold.
I usually like Knight's work but this was way too porn-y without any plot. The story needed to be tightened up, plot holes filled. I ended up skipping most of the sex scenes because it was too flowery and didn't really offer any kind of peace to the character except a good get-off. I was more interested in Varza's possessions and the death of a high-ranking Dragon, but again swept under the rug. There was nothing to keep me interested.
I kept growling at the book when it felt like the women were little more than plot devices for the men. Drives me a bit batty when women authors do that. We should be doing better. Well-rounded women characters should be standard in the genre.
Again, very disappointed with Knight. Definitely wouldn't recommend.
