The latest pulse-pounding thriller from the master of the moral dilemma and Sunday Times bestseller Jack Jordan.
Aaron Alexander has just been released from jail after serving eleven years for causing the death of Joshua Moore in a hit-and-run. Now a free man, all he wants to do is stay on the straight and narrow and leave his troubled past behind him.
But for Joshua’s mother Evelyn, eleven years in jail isn’t nearly enough. Consumed by grief and rage, she has been waiting for Aaron’s release, counting down the days until she can exact the revenge he deserves. And now that time has come.
However, as Evelyn and her husband Tobias embark on a road trip to track Aaron down, they soon find themselves caught on two different sides of a gripping game of cat-and-mouse. Because Tobias knows what Evelyn is planning, and he will do anything to save her from herself. Even if it means protecting the man who killed their son.
Locked in a collision course set in motion eleven years ago, Aaron, Evelyn and Tobias are about to find out whether the road they have chosen leads to retribution . . . or redemption.

Hold onto your seat because this book is a wild ride from start to finish! It's definitely one of my top favorites for 2024, and I can't stop thinking about it.
The story kicks off with Evelyn and her husband Tobias hitting the road. Their mission? To find Aaron, the man who killed their son and is now out of prison. But it's not just any road trip—it's a race against time to deliver their own brand of justice. When Tobias hesitates, Evelyn goes solo, and that's when the real chase begins.
The pursuit of Aaron is absolutely heart-pounding. Evelyn's relentless determination clashes with Aaron's desperate attempts to escape, making you root for the "bad guy" in a way you never expected. The twists and turns will keep you guessing and leave your mind spinning.
This plot is so gripping that you have to read it to truly appreciate its brilliance. For me, it's a solid 5-star read. Jack, you've outdone yourself—bravo!
“There is no redemption from hell” Pope Paul III, however, it seems that Evelyn is already there.
In London in the autumn of 2004, Tobias and Evelyn are beyond happy as they await the arrival of their long for child. Twenty years on in San Diego, everything has changed because eleven years ago Aaron Alexander kills their nine year old son Joshua in a hit and run. He’s sentenced to 20 years but makes parole after serving 11. It’s now one month since his release and Evelyn is on a countdown until she can exact revenge. Now, the pair take a road trip to track him down but are they on the same page about what’s intended? The gripping tale is told via Tobias, Evelyn and Aaron, demonstrating that things are never as straightforward as they seem.
Oh my goodness, Jack Jordan can sure write a jaw dropping thriller, this well written, powerful and emotional story has me riveted throughout. The grief, pain and loss of Tobias and Evelyn surges off the pages, its impact clear to see especially in their relationship. Into the void left by the shocking loss of their son, enters obsession and memories of their son sharpen the present day situation. It pulls no punches with regard to what happens to Joshua and it haunts them, although the perspective of Aaron allows you to see an unexpected side to the tragedy and his point of view is very illuminating, making me feel something I hadn’t anticipated.
The reader is privy to the couples thoughts and Evelyn’s murderous intent is loud and clear, her rage is like a living thing. As the pair journey across desert regions it’s aa arid as what’s left of their marriage though Tobias is love for Evelyn shines through. Around them fires are blazing as it is in Evelyn, this adds an additional layer to an angry, atmospheric read.
As the fast paced novel progresses and the twists keep on coming, a tension fuelled cat and mouse situation develops and many an ‘out of the frying pan into the fire’ scenarios. There’s a trail of rage fuelled destruction in its wake and a rising body count so the tension ramps up and up and it’s impossible to put the book down, desperate to see how it all plays out. The ending is a good one and it feels right.
Overall, this plays on all the emotions. It shocks, it moves, it’s terrifying in places and many other things besides. What a read.
PS If you are squeamish, there’s some self administered “treatment” that even makes my toes curl!!
With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Simon and Schuster for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.
It is interesting if gory read with an intriguing concept of how far you would go to revenge on the death of your child. Evelyn and Tobias (Toby) lose their son Joshua to a hit and run driver, Aaron. Told from their different viewpoints, it's a fast-paced bloody killing fest. Aaron is released from prison, having served 11 years of his 20-year sentence. Evelyn plotted to kill Aaron on his release, and Toby trying to stop her. I felt more sympathy with the child killing Aaron as the story unravelled. A thrilling, nail biting, chilling, and compelling reading if a bit gory for my taste. Well written and thought-provoking.
Oh my word, Jack Jordan has done it again. What an incredible read Redemption is. Truly mind-blowing. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions, I felt them all whilst reading this, and it even made me cry, which rarely happens with thrillers. I was so engaged in what was happening the whole way, wanting things to work out for all the characters, but that was never going to happen,
Losing a child is the worst thing that can happen to a parent, and 11 years on, Evelyn and Tobias are still lost in a cloud of grief. Their 9 year old son Joshua was killed by a speeding car and left for sea. Now, the driver, Aaron Alexander, is being released, and the couple wants revenge. Evelyn is hell-bent on seeing Aaron die, but Tobias is not convinced.
This is a cat and mouse adventure from San Diego and through the Nevada desert. Nothing is going to stop Evelyn or Tobias from achieving their goals. It is a drama filled, fast-paced journey that will see them doing the unthinkable. Incredibly emotional, as their parents deal with their grief and loss, while we see Aaron trying to come to terms with what he did and how his life has turned out. Get those tissues ready.
This is a must-read thriller, full of tension. Get this one on your TBR now. You will not be sorry.
Thank you so so much to Simon and Schuster UK for my advanced copy of this amazing book to read. Published on June 20th.
Jack Jordan you are back to your best! This book was incredible. The drama and tension never slows down, this is a pulsating read and I swear I could feel my heart rate increase when I read certain scenes. I loved the different POVs, as it helped me to sympathise with each of them, and their different interests and end goals. I was obsessed. Absolutely loved it, and it is my new favourite Jack Jordan book! Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.
I had mixed feelings about this book initially but, it was the kind of book that also felt uncomfortable and full of tension as we have a front row seat into their lives.
We have a British couple Tobias and Evelyn. they are in love and very happy with their family of three. Tobias gets a job offer to move to the USA. One fateful night a devastating accident shatters their world. This reduces their family by one. The guilty person Aaron goes to jail.
Evelyn is so all consumed with grief that she believes the only way to heal is to seek vengeance.
Tobias has put her on a pedestal and he seems almost afraid of her. He is holding onto the hope she will come back to him. He knows what she is planning and he does not agree with her plan but goes along with it.
Well the day that Aaron is released is the day she sets off with Tobias to exact revenge. Evelyn and Tobias are at an impasse and as she sees him as weak.
As time goes on Tobias is sure that he can turn things around. We witness Evelyn’s grief with a pain that is palpable. We see Evelyn slowly becoming a shadow of her former self as she wreaks havoc wherever she goes.
While she is hellbent on revenge Tobias is hellbent on trying to save her from herself….
How would any of us act if we had a devastating loss? A loss that cut so deep that we cannot see past it? How far would we go?
Evelyn and Tobias are about to find out….. Both of them will be forever changed….
I am so disappointed :'( I thought I would love this because of the astounding number of 5 star reviews! But it felt pretty boring to me given the nature of the story - too predictable from the beginning... I was just reading for the sake of finishing... Some parts even felt too far-fetched. I rolled the eyes in some scenes... sigh.
“Redemption” by Jack Jordan blew me away! It was the gift of action and emotion that just kept giving. I loved "Do No Harm" and "Conviction", and I expected to equally enjoy “Redemption”. What I didn’t expect was for it to become my ultimate favourite book by this author so early into the book.
My Thoughts:
The book starts with a fast pace very early on. We meet Evelyn and Tobias through their own POV’s and find out that they moved from the UK to the USA for a better life, but their son has died in a hit-and-run accident. In the first chapters, we see how they deal with their own grief and handle the loss as a couple. Or rather, how they’re failing at it. It’s a very sad scene, really. We get to see a very hurt, devastated couple, a shadow of the people they used to be, struggling to cope! We see them barely talking to each other. The writing, although sad, really highlights the details and makes you feel the grief with them as a reader.
We then find out that the killer has been out of prison for a month, and Evelyn has planned her next move. To find Aaron – and kill him. Tobias is vaguely aware of this plan, but doesn’t quite think Evelyn will actually do this. Rather, he really hopes she doesn’t. Very soon, he realises she’s very determined to go through with her plan, and he decides it’s time to stop her, even if it means losing her.
This is where the game of cat and mouse begins. They both grieve in different ways, and cannot see eye to eye. And now, they are both racing to find Aaron, one to save him, and the other to kill him.
We also get the chance to meet Aaron through his own POV, and find out what he’s going through, and the guilt he carries for an accident he will never forget.
As a whole, this book was gripping and I couldn’t put it down. It intrigued me from the very first chapter, and this feeling lasted until the very end. With so many twists and turns, and situations I didn’t expect to happen, it continued to surprise me. It also touched my soul deeply with the characters. I could feel for every single one of them, their intense pain. A gut-wrenching story about how one accident can change the course of so many people’s lives forever!
Favourite Quotes:
“Betrayal”, I say finally, sucking the joy out of the room. “It’s not the method that frightens me, but the intention.”
“I try to imagine how my life might have been without her, had we not crossed paths that day. Would we have met another way? Or would my life look completely different?”
“Life never fails to surprise me in moments like these. How one’s world can flip in an instant by simply crossing paths with another. The joy it can bring, the heartache.”
“Some people understand life better than others, don’t they? I don’t mean capitalism or politics or corruption, that sort of thing. They understand life in that they know how to live it: they know how to love, how to trust, how to get by relatively unscathed.”
“Last words – they’re infamous, aren’t they? I think about them a lot. People often say you should tell people you love them as much as you can, because you never know when the last time will be. When I part ways with people, their last words always linger as I wonder if they were the words they would have used if they knew they’d be their last.”
“Broken people can’t fix other broken people.”
“Every experience I’ve had as an adult has been with her, and the thought of stepping away, becoming my own person and not having her to turn to, doesn’t seem possible. And deep down, when I really think about it, I’m terrified that when I’m alone, I won’t like who I am without her.”

This is my review of Redemption.
“He Killed Her Son. Now She’s Out For Revenge.”
Evelyn and husband Tobias Moore had waited years to have a baby, but now it was a reality. They had been married for three years and had lived together for six.
Aaron Alexander, the man who was just twenty when he killed their son, Joshua, in a hit-and-run, when he was just nine years old. Aaron is now a free man at thirty-one after his early release from prison, after serving eleven years. Now all Aaron wants to do is to leave his troubled past behind him.
But Joshua’s mother Evelyn, can never forget… Consumed by grief and rage, she has been waiting for Aaron’s release, to get her revenge. He must pay for what he did, and for that she must kill him.
Evelyn waited one month after the release of Aaron before going after him…one month for him to realize the freedom he had lost.
Evelyn and her husband Tobias start their road trip to track Aaron down, but Tobias does not agree with his wife’s plan to murder Aaron, and feels he must stop her, but is afraid of losing his wife. What a dilemma. Even if it means protecting the man who killed their son.
Will the outcome be one of redemption . . . or retribution.
This was a fast-paced dark thriller and one that you will not be able to put down. Another winner for this talented author!
Many thanks to the author, Simon and Schuster UK and The Book Club Reviewer Request Group (FB) for my digital copy.
Jack Jordan is becoming a staple in my go to list of authors to read from. Everytime I read his books, it’s a different plot and he executes it so well each time. I’m in awe at how well he can always write a very unique plot and still pop out bangers. He always brings something different to the table, and I will always be on the lookout for his next books. No two books of his is the same! This book will touch the emotional side of the readers, touching upon the impact of grief, revenge, death and acceptance.
The plot is very simple about a mother seeking revenge for the death of her nine year old son. Aaron Alexander had just been released from jail serving his time for his crime of the hit and run murder of Joshua Moore. 11 years, the mother Evelyn moor has been waiting for Aaron to be released so she can seek out her murder, alongside this journey is her husband Tobias Moore. At times it’s gut wrenching, thrilling read, one that has you glued to your seat to finish.
I have nothing but good comments about this book, maybe some parts are not as plausible but overall this book is good and one you won’t be disappointed about.
I absolutely LOVE Jack Jordan. He is one of the nicest people ever and I am so happy for him that he is finally getting the recognition he deserves for his books.
Redemption is his latest book published by Simon & Schuster and I read this alongside 100 members of my Book of The Month Group on Facebook and we all LOVED it.
This is the emotional and heart-breaking story of Evelyn and Tobias Moore. Eleven years ago their only child Joshua was killed by a hit and run driver on his first school outing. He was 9 years old and was left to die on a deserted road alone. Since that tragic day, Evelyn and Tobias have drifted further and further apart, their grief has destroyed their marriage and they are barely surviving. Evelyn is fuelled by anger and hatred towards the man who killed her son and Tobias is trying to save his marriage and protect his wife from herself.
When Aaron Alexander, the young man who killed Joshua is released from jail, all he wants is to start his life afresh having served his prison sentence, however Evelyn won’t let that happen and she is on a mission to hunt him down and kill him.
I’m not going to say much more, except this is a really fast-paced story with lots of action, lots of violence, lots of heartache and lots of emotion.
The three main characters of Evelyn, Tobias and Aaron are all fascinating, flawed and fully believable. The grief and guilt oozed from the pages and my own feelings towards them changed from chapter to chapter.
With the backdrop of San Diego and through the Nevada desert, this is an atmospheric story which could be amazing if it was to be made into a film as the story is such a rollercoaster of emotions, tensions and violence.
I definitely recommend this book to lovers of fast paced action thrillers with a huge emotional punch.
Redemption by new to me author Jack Jordan explores the lives of three people and how far someone is willing to go to exact revenge.
Eleven years ago, Evelyn and Tobias Moore received the worst possible news a parent could ever hear. Their nine-year-old son, Joshua, was killed by a hit and run driver. Eleven years later, his killer, Aaron Alexander, has been released from prison and is trying to rebuild his life. The grief that Evelyn and Tobias have carried have completely changed them. No longer are they the parents of a little boy, but they are no longer the loving couple who fell in love more than two decades ago. They are like strangers to one another. Tobias is desperate to find the woman his wife used to be. Evelyn feels nothing but contempt for her husband and rage at Aaron Alexander. She is on a mission and is determined that nothing and nobody will stop her. She plans on hunting Aaron down and killing him. Only then will the pain she has carried be overcome.
My heart broke over and over for all three of these characters. I had loads of empathy for Evelyn and Tobias but as she moves forward on her quest for vengeance, I felt that empathy begin to fade and horror and disgust began to take over. I understood why she felt she needed to do this but I couldn’t understand how she could actually do the things she ends up doing.
I felt bad for Tobias. Not only has he lost his only child to a senseless act, but he is losing his wife to her grief and anger. She is no longer the woman he married, but he still loves her and believes if he can get through to her somehow, to stop her, she will come back to him. I admired his courage to want to do the right thing, knowing his life could be jeopardized if he gets in his wife’s way. The actions he has to take to not only survive but change the course of events unfolding in front of him were quite intense and scary. I honestly would not know what I would do if I were in his shoes.
I wanted to hate Aaron. Perhaps at the beginning of the story, I did a little. What kind of person would strike a child in the road and not stop? A monster, certainly, but I soon learned that Aaron wasn’t a monster. He was a messed-up kid, who came from a messed-up home, got caught up with the wrong people and became a drug addict. These are not excuses for his behavior but are factual insights into the person he was. While in prison, he got clean and wanted to make something of himself. As the story progressed and I got to know Aaron better, I understood who he was and why he was in the car that night.
This story was absolutely riveting! How far would any of us be willing to go to exact revenge? How long could we feed the anger and hate in our hearts, keeping it alive in our soul? I expect we would likely turn out the way Evelyn has. Eleven years is a long time to wait, plan, prepare. It’s no wonder she lost parts of her soul, her humanity, her compassion and her love. This story gave me the anxiety one feels when they are trying to get to the finish line before the timer runs out but I had to keep going. I had to know what was going to happen. Would Evelyn come to her senses on her own and lay down her sword? Would Tobias be able to stop her in time before she did something she could never come back from? Would Aaron be able to survive and outwit her? Could he really build any kind of life if he’s on the run and always looking over his shoulder?
In addition to Evelyn’s thirst for blood, this story offers up other dangers and villains that pose a threat. The backdrop of this story is a massive wildfire near Aaron’s home. Driving towards the fire is never a good idea, but Evelyn doesn’t care. Drug dealers and members of the Proud Boys are also a threat to both Tobias and Aaron for multiple reasons. There are multiple supporting characters that round out the story with substance, helping the story move forward.
My Final Verdict: I suspect this book will remain with me, in my mind and my heart, for a very long time. I highly recommend this story not just for the story itself, but for the characters who are so vulnerable in their humanity and lost in their mistakes. Are these characters capable of only retribution? Is redemption a possibility? Read this book and walk that road with Evelyn, Tobias and Aaron. It’s a journey that you will never forget.
Thank you to the publisher, Simon and Schuster UK, who provided an advance reader copy via NetGalley.
This will be a hard review to write (and keep a reasonable length!)... simply because Redemption took my breath away.
What I love about reading Jack's books and following his journey is how each book he writes gets better and better. Redemption feels like a turning point, in that it is driven by a group of characters' complex emotions. Unlike many thrillers; action and crime solving isn't at the centre of the story, but rather, exploring (at times) morally questionable emotions following the aftermath of a deadly crime.
Evelyn and Tobias are still grieving the death of their son, from a hit and run incident where Aaron was driving the car. But with Aaron released from prison, the depth of these emotions and the tangents they take are only getting deadlier. Evelyn has been waiting for this day for what feels like an eternity and has one thing on her mind. Revenge. And getting it fast.
The reader is inevitably swept up in Evelyn's ruthless pursuit of revenge, even if it means destroying her 30-year relationship with her husband, never healing from the emotional turmoil of losing her son and leaving a pile of destruction across the desert in her wake. Tobias is caught up in the tide of trying to prevent his wife from going off the rails and persuade her that forgiveness is the way forward, to save himself and their relationship. Meanwhile, Aaron is trying to navigate his new life post-prison and cope with the consequences of his fateful actions years later.
The result? A thrilling, emotionally complex race through the desert of Death Valley, told through the POV of the released killer and each alternate parent. It's a hot, sweaty, urgent and page turning story looking at the impact of grief and how it can drive us to the darkest of places.
Redemption makes the reader think about the devastating nature of grief, how it can propel relationships apart and just how far we are willing to go for revenge, despite knowing redemption is the morally righteous way forward. This book is not only a page turning, summer read, but full of beautiful writing, complex POVs and emotionally charged and gripping scenarios which will have you racing to the end.
This is inevitably, the thriller of the summer. So get reading, now!!!
Too many plot holes for me to enjoy this: - Husband waits years and until his wife is on a rampage before trying to help her. - Years of planning yet the wife messes up massively every step of the way but in really silly ways. - The second the wife kills someone early on in the book the end is ruined. - Throughout the book the husband keeps going on about getting his wife back / saving her when she was always going to be jailed for life or die. - 4 dead bodies in a motel that are just forgotten about. - The target can travel anywhere to escape but keeps going to places the person looking for him would go to. - To many unrealistic elements to the book like the wife asking everyone who knows her target where he is and telling them all what she is up to instead of surprising him, the wife being the only person in that part of America without a gun or the brother, with a kid and pregnant wife running off with a shotgun to commit murder oh and everyone leaving their keys in their cars at the same time someone needs to steal a car.
I get it, grief, morals, revenge, love are all powerful elements of a great story but this one just doesn’t get it right.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Highly anticipated book. This one broke me. I have a young son myself and as I read I kept thinking what if this happened to me? What would I do?
It was heart breaking, poignant and moving. I honestly didn't know who to root for. Everyone I guess. Then tension was intense. The descriptions were brilliant and the ending was pure perfection.
I won't say too much for fear of giving the game away but this book shocked me, terrified me and almost made me cry (almost).
Redemption is utterly brilliant. You’ll be hard pressed to find a thriller that is faster paced, more exciting and more emotionally affecting this year. I thought it was an absolute cracker and the author’s best book to date. My full thoughts are on the My Weekly website.
3.5 🌟 A half-hearted attempt at a story about vengeance. Elements of absurdity in a somewhat disjointed and clunky read. The story begins with a bang literally, wish there had been a backstory before we found out why the need for redemption. The characters are somewhat one-sided, and although their layers are revealed eventually, it is hard to connect with them. I initially gave this book a 2.5/3 and boosted it to a 3.5, having reread the end, quite poignant, moving, and certainly not what I was expecting. This is my second book of Jack Jordan's work, and overall, it doesn't live up to the book Conviction, but then they are two very different stories. I will read more of his work and any to come.
Wow, what a pulsating ride Jack Jordan takes us on in this novel about one woman's quest for revenge and her husband desperately trying to stop her. Twenty years ago Evelyn and Tobias were eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child. For 9 years, Joshua was their world until one fateful night when Aaron killed him in a car accident, fast forward 11 years and Aaron has served his sentence in the eyes of the law and courts. But for Evelyn the time has come for her to exact her retribution. We follow her along the route from San Diego to Reno and beyond as she battles her emotions to accomplished what she set out to do. As wildfires follow her journey,we as the reader, are caught up in a maelstrom of feelings. It was surprising to find myself more on the side of Aaron, the drug addicted child killer, than his mum, In writing his character Jack Jordan has shown a vulnerable side, one that I wasn't expecting. Evelyn's actions, on more than one occasion, had me in despair and horror. The turmoil and grief she faces etched into her every move. This novel is a fast paced, all action, superb read and would make a fabulous movie. It's sure to be a well deserved bestseller
Bloody loved this book. Story line is fab and the three characters all play their parts brilliantly - could see this being a film. Would highly recommend this. Going to read conviction next and am looking forward to another of jacks books in 2026
2.5 stars. Nobody is more disappointed at this rating than I am.
Evelyn and Tobias are grieving over the loss of their son after Aaron killed him in a hit and run accident. When Aaron is released from prison Evelyn takes matters into her own hands and chases him down to get revenge.
The premise sounds really good but the execution was lacking. I didn’t like any of the characters from the get-go and needed more time to get to know their human side from the past to be able to care about their actions and feelings in the present day.
It was a lot of chasing each other around from place to place which made the plot plod along. There were no twists or mysteries to keep me engaged and although I didn’t think it would end as it did, it was quite a boring note to leave it on.
When I first read the synopsis for this book, I felt I was in for a thrilling ride. This novel tells the story of Evelyn and Tobias, parents heartbroken at the loss of their son 11 years ago, killed in a hit and run.
When the driver, Aaron, is released from prison, Evelyn is still consumed with anger and hatred, and a sense of injustice that Aaron will now be released after only 11 years.
Evelyn sets in motion a plan to track Aaron down and exact revenge of her own however Tobias is equally determined to stop her, fearing that exacting her own brand of justice will mean Evelyn is lost forever.
After that set up, I was all in. Here comes an all-action, high speed, page turning thriller. And it was......but it was so much more. The book also covers some many other topics around guilt, parenting, redemption, trauma, forgiveness, loyalty and a million other issues which I can't even get my head around right now.
It was a truly remarkable story and piece of writing which will stay with me for a long, long time.
Thanks to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster UK for an ARC in exchange for an honest review
Husband and wife story where the young son is the victim of a hit and run and Aaron (who ran over their son) has served little over half his sentence before being released. Evelyn (the mum) wants revenge. The story starts at his release from prison, it's a fast paced chase between the three. I liked the fast storyline, keeping you interested but found it too fluffy with the repeated emotions of the couple. Inevitable ending which you could see coming.
unfortunately i’ve had to DNF this book- it’s just feeling like a chore to read and honestly i’m finding it pretty boring. Deffo wasn’t expecting this after looking at all of the 4&5* reviews, and i HATE to not finish a book, especially when im over 50% of the way, but im just rolling my eyes at the thought of reading at this point.
I have no idea how to feel about this book. A lot is going on, and most definitely a fitting title. A harrowing story of how one night destroys the lives of 3 people. It doesn't shy away from the pain, hurt and anger.
The feels I have with this book! Evelyn is a broken woman, Tobias is trying to protect her and Aaron is the man who started it all. However, don't be fooled it's not as black and white as it seems. You start off thinking you know who to root for, and support but it's not the case and as we get deeper and deeper into the book, you realise this. I couldn't even work out how it would end, and what ending I would be happy with. I would say very bittersweet.
Each character has lost something by the end, a piece of themselves and so much more. For some, it's a fresh start, a chance to start over and begin something special from it. But has everyone paid their dues?
I think it's very safe to say this book is going to live in my head rent-free for a few days while I try to figure out how I feel. Don't get me wrong it's an amazing book. I just don't know if the actions of some of the characters justify their means. It is heartbreaking, and so much pain has been caused, but was it worth it? I don't feel a couple of the characters got the justice they deserve.
It was such a gripping read, it is relentless and it is so tense. Will Evelyn finally catch up with Aaron? Will Tobias do what he always does and save the day? Those last few chapters, I would have bitten my nails if I did that, I had no idea how it would go once that door was knocked. To say the least that was a shock in itself.
I find with all of Jack Jordan's books, they provide a great conversation starter, they are all books that make you think, What would you do? I think that is where my dilemma lies, what would I do?
Jack Jordan isn’t capable of writing a bad book. I loved Do No Harm and enjoyed Conviction. This book I read as a buddy read with @thishannahreadsandmore and I was buzzing to get to this one.
The atmosphere is in this book is perfection: I’ve never felt more like I’m in a desert from the comfort of my own bed 😂 It was tense and some highly stressful scenes. I thought it was brilliant how every single chapter ended on a mini cliffhanger. I had visceral reactions from some of the painful stuff that happened here ( 🦷 IYKYK!)
I also really liked that we got to read from not two but three POV. It added so much and really got you feeling how each character was feeling.
Wasn’t a big fan of the way it wrapped up at the end. But you can’t have it all all of the time can you. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book (and chatting to Hannah about thoughts and theories!)
I feel bad for rating this so low after reading all the glowing reviews, but personally I found it very boring, and listening to it on 2x wasn’t fast enough😂 in my opinion nothing exciting happened and I wasn’t shocked and didn’t gasp at all throughout it. Jack’s other books I have read (DNH and Conviction) were miles better for me than this one. My review doesn’t follow the theme of most of the others, but that’s just my opinion🙂
