She might be blind, but even she can SEE that he’s trouble.
The moment Mia’s fingers accidentally brush down Lord Kingsley’s rippling chest during a chance encounter at a masquerade ball, she knows that her life will never be the same. Because the passion that flares between them is hot enough to melt all her hesitation away.
He’s hell bent on revenge.
Until the broken little bird, Mia, lands in his path. But enemies take advantage of distraction and Mia is as stunning as she is passionate making her the worst kind.
And thanks to that one ill-fated evening, she is also now his wife.
And perhaps an agent of his enemy…
Is she part of the plot against him or in grave peril at his side? How far is he willing to go to protect the woman he never wanted but might just be the one person he can’t live without?
This is my 98th book by Tammy Andresen. I have been reading her since 2017. Needless to say, after almost 100 books of hers, I consider her a "favorite" author. 😊 I find a lot of her books are quick reads but still really good. She still gets great depth in her characters and the storylines are good. I am really loving this series.
I LOVED this book. I loved Mia and Cade. I loved their story and their personalities. I loved the storyline. Just a great read. It is my favorite in the series so far. Just a great read.
Loved this one! I thought it was funny and hot that the heroine falls for the hero based on his smell, a bit of a twist on the “love at first sight” trope. The author wrote an incredibly entertaining story weaving in forced marriage, a vengeful and distrustful duke who thinks the heroine is in league with his enemy, a shy and gentle heroine who is mostly blind and breaks thru the heroes walls to his heart! Definitely 5 swooning stars!
And awesome steam! Their first time—ooof! So good!!
Safe. Hero’s past is mentioned briefly, but no explicit details are given. Heroine is a virgin, belongs only to the hero and gives him the gift of claiming all of her firsts for himself. No pthers, no cheating or sharing or abuse between MCs. Heroines father is abusive. HEA with epilogue one year out
Brilliantly written by Tammy as always. All her books leave me with a happy contentment. One that I don’t always get from others. A little danger, some lightheartedness, and a lot of passion. Tammy’s book combines all the above. Excellent read.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
To say that this book was hot doesn’t do it justice. It’s just steamy. Cade had his sight set on Mia and Mia had her sense of smell trained in on Cade. I enjoyed reading this quick novella based on falling in love at first site. As usual I love the romance and the entertainment of the story. For Cade starts the story off with a vengeful response towards a Duke who may or may have not had bad dealings with his father. The plot was very good and written very well. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Mia is almost blind but the moment her fingers accidentally brush down Lord Kingsley’s rippling chest during a chance encounter at a masquerade ball, she knows that her life will never be the same. Cade Kingsley is out for revenge, he believes his uncle The Marquis of Kingsley is dead but until this is proven Cade can’t rightfully claim the title. When they are caught in a compromising situation there’s only one possible outcome. Neither would have believed how life changing that encounter would be. This is the eighth book in the series & one of the best I’ve read by the author. It could be read on its own as a beautiful romance but there is the search for Gyla which is a theme throughout the series. I adored both Cade & Mia & loved how their initial attraction grew & deepened. I also loved how sensitively the author dealt with Mia’s lack of sight & how Cade reacted to her. An emotional romance with passion, some angst, insecurities & a deepening love – I devoured it in a sitting & was left both with a smile & a tear. An engrossing, captivating “unputdownable” romance My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Wonderful read, our heroine Mia is pure joy in how she handles being blind, not feeling sorry for herself but trying to build her life on her ability to create.
Lord Kingsley our hero has other things on his mind which is to find out if his uncle is deceased until he is caught in an embarrassing moment with Mia.
All the characters is this story blend together extremely well, meaning our author not only wants us to enjoy the read, while waiting patiently for the next book.
Fast pace, an extremely powerful page turner from being to end
This is one Fantastic story I was not expecting at all! I love when a book grabs you right from the start and takes you on a journey as in A Masquerade With a Marquess. Tammy Andresen's stories are always interesting with flawed characters who manage to grow and yet retain their personalities, secrets , sizzling passion, remarkable emotions and with one fantastic plot that leaves you eagerly anticipating the next in the series.
Book eight in the Lords of Temptation, Lord Cade Kingsley and Miss Amelia/Mia Blackstone's story. their story starts with revenge, a marriage and ends in love there is also drama, lies, deceit, twists and turns. This engaging story held my interest from cover to cover. I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow! I loved this book! Mia and Cade’s story is amazing. The vulnerability in Mia draws you in and makes the reader want to protect her too! Cade is a good man caught in a bad situation, not really sure who to trust. The pull these two have with each other is amazing and delightful! I couldn’t put the book down!
I received a free copy of this book from the author. The thoughts and opinions are my own.
I liked this read, there was romance and a mystery to keep me going. There was an obvious running plot in the series, but I think the bit for this book was well summed up and contained within these pages (I didn't feel like I was missing anything by not having read the previous books) The writing was good, and this is a new to me author that I would happily read again.
I love that Mia is a genuinely innocent and curious girl but is encouraged to explore her more sensual womanly side when she meets the future Marquess. Spice 2/5 but decent story development considering it was only a short book. Easy and enjoyable to read!
If you are looking for a sweet clean historical romance this isn’t it. The book has several explicitly described sex scenes between the main characters. I usually don’t leave reviews; just wanted to help others know the spice level of the book as I struggled to find it in other reviews.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I must admit I have a soft spot for a marriage of convenience or should I really say a marriage due to scandal. The characters were spot on with just the right amount of angst plus a dash of intrigue.
This was an okay addition to the Lords of Temptation series (a spinoff of the Lords of Scandal series), but I did have a few issues with it. It gets 3 stars from me.
I actually never felt much of a love connection between Cade and Mia. They were attracted to each other, but neither one of them ever seemed to be truly in love. In the beginning, she didn't trust him, and he just wanted to use her -- but then they were suddenly in love? I just didn't buy it.
I read the Lords of Scandal series, but it was some time ago, so I had already forgotten a great deal about the plot and characters. It would help, I think, to read the Lords of Scandal series right before starting this spinoff series.
Mia was likable enough, but I wanted her to have more self-confidence. She found herself lacking because of her blindness, and couldn't really imagine that any may would ever really want her. I did think she should have made Cade grovel at least a little before she forgave him, though -- because the way he planned to use/hurt her was awful.
Cade was really unlikable at first, with his plan to use Anna (not caring how much he might hurt her). After spending time with her, though, he realized that she didn't deserve to be treated so badly. But I still thought Anna forgave him WAY too easily.
Other reviewers have mentioned that this series has lots of historical errors, and that the couples' behavior and language often doesn't fit the rigid cultural requirements of that time period. That is true, but I don't really mind in this case -- since I am reading the series merely for entertainment. If I were looking for historical accuracy, I would read a classic author like Jane Austen.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Starring Miss Amelia “Mia” Blackstone and Cade Kingsley (the rightful Marquess of Kingsley)
Tropes: Visually Impaired Heroine, Revenge, Compromised, Married in Haste, Talented Heroine, Grumpy/Sunshine
Y’all… ever read a book and when it ends you think “Back to reality?! How the heck am I suppose to function now?!” Well, that’s what happened after reading this story!! I can’t even, y’all!! I am a puffy-eyed, ugly cry af hot mess… but so worth the emotional rollercoaster that I just happily went on!! The angst, the passion, and the love between these two. OMG sooooooo freaken goooooood!! Mia and Cade gave me THE BEST book hangover and they will be living rent free in my mind forever!!
Mia is visually impaired… but she can still see undefined shapes when there’s enough light. What makes her so unique is that she’s a brilliant sculptor (I do love a talented heroine). She’s the sunshine that Cade needs in his life. I love that she’s always trying to get him back in bed so they can snuggle. She was so freaken adorable!!
Cade is a yummilicious anti-hero who is hell bent on revenge. The last thing he needs is Mia distracting him, especially since he thinks she’s in cahoots with his enemy. But little by little she chips away at the walls surrounding his heart... and when he finally realizes he loves Mia… holy heck the waterworks came like a tsunami!!
Every time I read a Tammy Andresen story I say “THIS one is my favorite”… but Masquerade with a Marquess is officially my #1 All Time Fave TA book. It just pressed all my love buttons so hard. Main characters who I love cheering for… angst that tore at my heart… and holy wowza these two were hawt af!! Off the charts passion!! If Tammy Andresen weren’t already on my keeper shelf, this book would have solidified her spot. Absolutely brilliant writing!!
Trust! Go read this book (when it comes out in January 2024).

Cade Kingsley, nephew to the Marquess of Kingsley, believes his uncle is dead and he should be the marquess. He also believes the Duke of Upton had something to do with his uncle’s death. Before he can prove either, he meets Miss Amelia Blackstone in the garden at his Christmastide ball. Caught in a kiss, they are soon wed. Cade begins to believe that Mia is a spy for his enemy, Upton. He and Upton come face to face over Cade’s suspicions about his uncle’s death. What he learns is a bitter surprise. Will he continue to seek revenge or will he join Upton and his partners in finding Gyla? Will he and Mia find a happy future? This is a great addition to the series. It is filled with action, secrets, revelations, and an emotional and passionate romance. Cade has to work his way up to being a hero, but he makes it in the end. He is determined to be a better man and marquess than those who came before him. Mia is a wonderful character. She has been almost completely blind since childhood, but is intelligent and capable. She is a talented artist, a sculptor. There is some trouble between them, but it doesn’t take long for things to come right. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Thoroughly enjoyed this quick and satifying novella. This is my first book by Tammy Andresen, as the blurb just grabbed me for this one. It's book #8 in the Lords of Temptation series, and I had no trouble with it as a standalone read. It's good to know that Lord Upton and Anna are center of a book earlier in the series, as I enjoyed them completely in this story... as Upton is the central figure in compelling the marriage between Lord Kingsley and Mia.
This is a novella but nothing feels weak or missing here. There isn't any endless repetition, which makes my day. If our characters make a mistake, they learn from it pretty quickly. The underlying momentum is compelling and doesn't have any sense of being forced or rushed, and still gives the reader everything they need to get the story just right. Kudos to Tammy Andresen, both in the writing and in the heart behind such a storyline.
It seems like the stories might all be related in the series, so I will start at the beginning [Temptation] and see how it all goes... and I'll back up to Lords of Scandal if I like these well enough.
Pursuing the enemy takes a new turn when heir apparent Cade Kingsley discovers the gentle Mia on the terrace at a masked ball and the Duke of Upton basically shoehorns him into marrying the girl. Mia may seem fragile, but she has developed skills beyond the norm that stand her in good stead and she has the full backing of the Duchess of Upton. Unfortunately, before Cade and Mia can consolidate a future between them, they first have to get rid of the lies, suspicions, and mistrust that nip at their heels. When it seems that trust is irrevocably broken, Cade learns the truth about his wife and realizes that if he wants her back, he has to give her something in return. With the help of the Duke of Upton's men, the novel comes to a delightful and romantic conclusion and Cade finds the peace he was looking for in the arms of his wife. I received a copy of this delightful novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I have enjoyed most of the books in this series even with an occasional annoying character, but this one was a disappointment from the beginning. The heir’s, Cade, misguided revenge just never felt justified especially since he knew how bad his uncle was and all of his crimes and misdeeds. Why would he ever want someone to suffer for stopping him. He had an instant attraction to Mia but he still chose to suspect her of working with the enemy instead of just talking to her and asking questions.
Eventually, he came to his senses and decided to work with Upton, but I still felt the vibe of this story went against all the others in the series. I am glad that Mía got her happy ending because she was sweet and definitely deserved it. Also, it is good that Cade joined the partners and made genuine friends that changed him so I still gave the story 3 stars cause there was some redemption in the end.
This is book 8 of Lords of Temptation but can be read as a standalone. Though reading at least the one before helps a little with whats going on in this book. THOUGH reading all the books before this one would be best, because they are all so great! This book is about Lord Cade Kingsley, the next in line to the Marquess of Kingsley and Miss Amelia (Mia) Blackstone. Cade is seeking revenge and Mia is blind but just wants to be independent. With Cade's uncle being such a horrible person I was wondering how we were going to like Cade, but man oh man, I loved him. You felt all his frustrations, fears, and indignation about his uncle. The couple is forced to marry and they work to learn about his uncle. The pull between the two is great. Another great book!!!!!!! I received an advance copy of this book and leave my honest review.
I liked the idea of this story, but much of it made me roll my eyes. All of the miscommunication, misunderstandings, etc. were just way too much for me. The story was steamy, but I didn't see how there could actually be any love because neither of them actually met the real person until the end of the book. They never talked and if they did talk, Cade especially misdirected or just didn't share. Aside from the romance, the rest of the story didn't seem fleshed out enough to make it interesting. It was almost as if that part of this story was just filler space between the last book and the next book. It is the only book I've read in the series, so maybe I've missed something.
I liked that one of the main characters had a physical impairment and that it was dealt with realistically
I read three of the books in this series out of order! Probably would be best to read them in order as the characters show up in the all the books. I still loved the story of Cade and Mia story. Cade needs to solve the mystery of where his uncle is and if he is dead. He can't take the title till then and the estate needs help. He is sure the duke of Upton knows something about his uncle. Mia has been mostly blind since she lost her sight as a child due to a fever. Her father is one nasty person. She only want to be able to do her sculpting and provide for herself. She has slipped out to the garden to take some air. She can only see shapes in bright light. Hearing someone behind her she turns and runs into Cade. Oh, my one kiss later and they are soon married. The Duke of Upton had a hand in it. Cade is sure Mia is part of a plot against. Still she is beautiful woman, sweet and caring and he can't help feelings for her. What a story of secrets, misunderstanding, hurt, and learning what is really the most important in life and trust. Great story be sure and not miss it.
I loved how Mia had the inner strength to plan for her future, despite the vulnerability that came with her blindness. She was talented and smart and would have been able to become independent if her plans hadn't been upended by a chance meeting with Cade. In this case, it was Cade who was the dumb one—too focused on finding out what happened to his uncle and assuming the title of marquess to realize what a special person Mia was. He saw conspiracies around every corner, so of course, there were misunderstandings. But there was also real affection and chemistry between Mia and Cade.
This was a quick read with lots of romantic action and a little danger. The only thing I don't like is that I'll have to read the rest of the series to find out what happens in the overall story. That will be something to look forward to with the rest of the characters.
I've been enjoying this series, although to be fair I read books 1-7 back to back, and then a break til this one, and it took a bit to get back into the underlying plot. The first book in the series not having a Smith Sibling as a leading character..... I liked Mia, her strength, her honesty about her weaknesses and her determination to forge a life away from her father. Great to see Anna again, and build on her character.
My question is - and it's not so.much to do with this book but the next, in the blurb it says the next book will be Northville's (at last), ' Vendetta with a Viscount', but in the listings below the book after this is ' A Vengeful Viscount'. Silly printing error of an I missing something? The latter and is not already part of the series.
I wanted to like it, it’s everything that I would like, but it’s too short and too much happens. The story hasn’t been proofread properly, there were multiple misspellings and poor wording in areas. The inconsistency of Mia’s sight, makes her seem more like she needs a good pair of glasses than blind. The main this is Mia is definitely night-blind, but can still see. While I’m aware, is in the spectrum of blindness, but it’s unsatisfying when I read certain parts, and the book lacks the length to adequately describe and explain her blindness. I think Cade is rather shallow, while the book expresses Mia’s beauty, it never seems like Cade is enamored with anything beyond that. Honestly the best characters are the Duke and Duchess.
Action packed from the beginning with a party, a compromised innocent, a forced marriage all tied up with a revenge plot. Mia is visually impaired since the age of 5 but plans to be an artist. She becomes enthralled with the scent and power of Cade and foolishly, passionately kisses him. Cade is trying to find out what happened to his derelict Uncle so he can take over the Marquessate. Secrets and interference from others threatens their newly found relationship and hasty marriage. Characters from previous books are intertwined adding substance to story but still can be read as a standalone. Truly enjoyed this journey to a HEA.
I received an ARC but the honest opinion is my own.
Tammy Andresen does it again! She writes stories that I just fall in love with the main characters. Mia is blind and does not expect to ever get married, she is planning to support herself, so she does not have to stay in her father’s house forever. At a ball she meets Cade. He should be the Marquess of Kingsley but his uncle is missing and he believes is dead, but he cannot became the Marquess unless they can prove the Uncle is dead. This book is part of the series Lords of Temptation, and it was nice reading about past characters. The chemistry between Mia and Cade Is very sensual and full of feelings. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest opinion.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Mia and Cade's story, such a sensual and intriguing tale. Cade is bent on revenge but when he meets Mia, his focus changes. As for Mia, all she wants is to get away from her father and make a life of her own selling her sculptures. Being blind, she's always felt herself a burden but what she lacks in sight, she more than makes up for in her other senses.
Forced into marriage, they soon discover a passion for each other and although secrets come between them, love overcomes them all. I've always loved how Tammy Andresen writes and this book is no exception.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
