"Discover Your Message" by Jonathan Milligan is an extraordinary book. This transformative journey of self-discovery offers a 14-day roadmap to unlock your true potential and purpose.
Prior to reading this book, I had a lot of ideas and that combined with the plethora of social media platforms, funnels and ads, I was feeling stuck. However, Jonathan's exercises provided the clarity I needed. They helped me identify one message that I feel like I can really run with.
What really stands out is that the book includes the how along with the why. So many books on this topic talk about what you need to do without giving you any information on how to do it…for that you need to buy their program. This book is not that way. Jonathan gives you exercises to do that help you figure out your unique gifts, skills, and abilities, and guides you towards the most effective way to deliver your message. This book offers a clear action plan to gain clarity about your message and your ideal audience.
Whether you aspire to be a coach, speaker, or author, this book is essential to read before you embark on your journey. In a space crowded with information, Jonathan Milligan simplifies the process, allowing you to cut through the clutter and discover your true calling. It started out great: the first few chapters focus on trying to understand yourself and how you should approach your work. Are you a writer, speaker, or a coach? Should you create videos, written work, or podcasts? Or should you focus on direct coaching, either in groups or one-to one, online or in-person? Even if you can do all of these, you shouldn't spread yourself too thinly. That's really good advice, and he has some useful tools for helping you figure out the answers.
He also dives into getting clarity on who you're targeting. If you say "everyone", you'll probably hit nobody. Be precise, figure out exactly what their real problem is, and craft a message around that. Again, good advice, and he gives you useful tools.
But the last half of the book becomes a lot more generic, with advice such as searching Amazon or Udemy to see what's popular. (Which leads to the more challenging question: if you don't find something does that indicate an untapped niche, or does it show that nobody's interested in it? He ducks that one.) The later chapters have the feel of ChatGPT content: they're bland, formulaic, and repetitive, and I got the impression that they were there for the purpose of turning a short booklet into a book.
I got to the end, but all the value to me was in the first half of the book. That said, it was free, and it did definitely help me get some useful perspectives on things I've been thinking about.

The Discover “Your Message” book by Jonathan Milligan is one of the top 5 books I have ever read. It helps you identify your unique gifts, skills, and abilities and discover which way you show up best to deliver a message. The exercises are easy, straightforward, and have a true purpose. I had several different ideas and possible platforms to deliver those ideas prior to reading the book. Jonathan’s exercises helped me find clarity on one message that I had a true passion for delivering and to identify the best method to deliver it using my own unique strengths. This book over delivers on your expectations as it is essentially a full course in marketing your message but in an easy book format that many would charge thousands of dollars for this information. If you have ever thought about being a teacher, coach, speaker, or author make this book a must-read before you start. Jonathan makes things simple and allows you to cut through all the clutter and identify your true calling. If you feel you have a message to get out to the public and you could only read one book this year this is the one.

As a new coach and author, this book with Jonathan Milligan's Ignite Your Message framework helped to provide focus and clarity on the message that I want to share with my target audience and in a unique way that only I can, by capitalising on my strengths. In a simple, easy to follow, practical format, this book allows you to achieve that in 14 days - or less! Even if you go through it quickly (since it is an easy read), I'd still recommend revisiting it (or at least the 14-day action plan in chapter 16) and keep it close as a reference while building your business. A must read to fast track your success as an author, coach, speaker or entrepreneur.

My favorite thing about this book is its conciseness. The short chapters appeal to my personal learning style, and even though it’s designed to be a 14-day read, it could easily be consumed and applied in a single weekend for someone more ambitious than me.
This book is a treasure trove of hacks and experiential advice guaranteed to be beneficial to coaches, bloggers, vloggers, speakers, and online course creators. I’m looking forward to the release of the accompanying workbook.

I've been a fan of Jonathan Milligan for years. When I got my copy of his latest book, "Discover Your Message," I read it entirely in one sitting.
The exercises inspire me to take action, and I'm definitely taking action to deliver my message to the world. I take to heart Jonathan's statement, "You have a responsibility to share your gift. You're selfish if you don't." If only everyone in the world understood, believed, and acted on that, the world would be a much better place for everyone!

Easy to read and helpful. Love the exercises!
I’ve been trying to find a “forever problem” to solve so I can have something to do for the next decade or more. That resulted in me not taking the necessary actions.
Reading “What problem are you passionate about solving for the next two to five years?” helped me change my focus.
When I focused on the next two to five years, I could “Identifying a problem that [I] find genuinely compelling.” By doing so, “it immediately influences [my] level of dedication, creativity, and energy when developing solutions for [my] audience.”

"Discover Your Message" is packed with everything you need to determine your message, your preferred style of business and your ideal fit audience. It's a quick and easy read with no flannel or flip flam. It gives you a firm 14-day framework.
I am happy to recommend it to anyone from a start up to old hands.
I think, once you've read "Discover Your Message", you're going to want Jonathan to hurry up and write the rest of the series!

I found this book incredibly helpful. As a non-fiction writer, I have struggled to find my niche and my message. Discover Your Message provides clarity and clear steps in finding the target audience and addressing their needs. In a 14-day format, Milligan provides clear steps and practical tips on how to get your message out to the right audience. I liked this format, as well as the summary of each day's tasks at the end of the book. A good reference book to have if you are a writer, blogger, speaker, influencer, or still need clarity on your calling.

Oh my. I’m not even sure how to start. This book is highly recommended for anyone getting into marketing. Which I’m trying to do. But the more I read your book the more I kept coming back to my “why” my one sentence that describes my why is I want to serve others. Most of us just want to make money. What an amazing book! I really enjoyed this book and found it really actionable. Jonathan does a great job of breaking down each of the steps to discover your message into daily tasks. This makes them manageable and achievable. He does a great job of explaining the importance of each of of the steps and how they build on one another.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book! I don't often read a whole book in a week. But, this book is different. It was engaging and simple to follow. The advice just made sense. I love how this book gives actionable guidance and doesn't have any gimmicks. I will be looking out for more books by this author.
