Samad's search for Leila is an odyssey through a world where the jackhammers are destroying more than bricks and they are tearing into the souls of people, brutalising them, leaving them with hearts as empty as the shop windows in Hanover Street.Waiting for Leila is a powerful indictment of a way of life to which so many were condemned; but despite this, as Samad 'Our ghosts are ineradicable.'
A beautifully written book. The characters are so real I could relate to them. I like how Dangor creatively poses questions on issues which have long been accepted by society. This book is a tasty treat for any literature lover
